We had a postal key access box pried open, and subsequently had a bike stolen from our garage. I called two other locksmiths first: one was unavailable (we didn't want to wait until tomorrow to rekey), and one didn't answer. Locksmith Central had 5 stars, and when I called, Mike answered, took all the relevant info, and said he'd call back with a quote. Five minutes later, Kelly called with the quote and a two-hour service window late this afternoon. They arrived on time, expertly reviewed our situation, and made some suggestions as to other security improvements, which we decided were good ideas. Great service! I lost my key during a trip and couldn't get into my car when I returned to SFO. Since it was late when my fight arrived, I had a friend pick me up and called Locksmith Central the next day. John was kind enough to pick me up from the Bart station and made a key in no time. The price was lower than another locksmith that I called, so not only did I get good service, but I got a great deal. These guys took over the old Ames location, and boy is it an improvement. Mike came out to my house to repair damage from a break-in (first time that's happened in 20 years in Noe Valley). He was prompt, knowledgeable, fast, and efficient. He helped me to improve security and he had everything he needed on the truck (even in the right color). Front door lock first refused to release our key then seized to keep the latch from releasing. Mike's helper rebuilt the lock cylinder and re-installed the striker plate for the latch which was only whimsically attached to a portion of the frame which crumbled after someone broke in. Also put a proper latch plate for the separate deadbolt and routed out an opening in the frame to accommodate the long deadbolt. Prompt service rendered for a fair price. We were very pleased with the work that Michael did to replace the locks of our new place. We only received one key for the front door at close of escrow, and it only opened the deadbolt and not the door lock. We also had to get the garage and back door locks replaced. Wow! I am the mother of 3 boys - 4 yrs., 3 yrs, and 1 year old. I lost my wallet with my ID and key attached. I purchased a discount visit for 19.99 knowing that I had a lot of various lock work that needed to be done for the 3 bedroom apt we have in our old building. The guy shows up from Locksmith & I walk him thru the scope of work & get the quotes. It's close to $400 total. I said fine let's just get it done asap. He says fine & that he can start tomorrow am. He calls me the next morning that he can't come do the work as his wife thinks there is going to be a disaster coming & he has to stay home with her. WTF ? I asked him what this is based on & he says just his wife. The weather was clear, news good, but I was headed to the airport to fly to the east coast for work & was leaving my kids here. So not only did the work not get done but I got to be stressed out over his end of the world BS while I spent the next day 6 hrs in the air. Really, just lie to your customers in the future & tell them you have a stomach flu. Don't ruin someone's day with your drama. He called me the following week to reschedule. Really like your behavior is acceptable. I am sorry to have to write this report but I am in the service business myself & crying the sky is falling, canceling & then calling the customer back like it's all cool is simply not. read more

I was impressed with this store a year ago, when they were able to make copies of my 1994 car keys, which several other locksmiths had been unable to do. They have a zillion types of keys and are extremely professional. I decided to hold on to their business card. A year later, while cleaning my house I found the card and put their number in my cell phone. By some strange coincidence, a week later, I locked myself out of my apartment late at night. I called Locksmith Central (I was lucky their number was in my cell phone), and Michael was at my place within 20-30 minutes. A few minutes after that, he had opened my locked door for me. The price was affordable and Michael was super friendly and helpful. I'm so thankful I had the number of such a professional and trustworthy locksmith in my cell phone. I wouldn't trust anyone else. Apparently there are locksmiths out there that pretend to try and open your lock, then say they are unable to and that they then have to drill open your lock, which costs a ton more. Then after drilling your lock & opening your door, your lock is now damaged and nonfunctional and so you need to pay them yet another huge fee to replace your damaged lock. By the end of the visit, you've been charged an exorbitant fee. But not with Michael at Locksmith Central. He gave me an estimate before coming, then quickly came and unlocked my door, and the final cost was the same as his intial estimate. I'd make sure and stick with these guys!!
