Love this neighborhood joint. The burgers are SO good. They have signature burgers to choose from or you can build your own. I got the double smash patty burger Carolina style (slaw,chili, mustard, onion). Super messy but oh so good! Others in my group got a create your own with pulled pork and slaw and another person got the catfish special with mac and cheese. We also had the loaded tots and southern egg rolls as an appetizer. The food was exceptional except for one thing. Although the catfish crust was amazing and perfect texture, the catfish itself was really watery inside the breading. Other than that, it was all great! The loaded tots were also great. Forgot to take a pic BEFORE we started digging in but you can see the gist in the photo. They're so good! The southwestern egg rolls, although fantastic, are not like they are at most places. They have pulled pork and veggies with them and comes with a Thai chili sauce on the side. We have been to Lockwood Tavern a few times now and each visit we have tried something new. We have tried the smash burgers, the Cuban, the hot honey chicken sandwich (They tenderize and bread the chicken in house, which is amazing), the southern egg rolls, the pimento balls, and the list goes on. Up until our last visit everything has been delicious and we have not been disappointed once... Well this last visit I ordered the hot honey chicken sandwich again, (because it was so good the first time!), I don't know if they changed the chicken they use or what but the chicken had a snappy texture that no properly cooked chicken should ever have. I was immediately turned off and could not eat it. I'm hoping it was a one off experience and that next time will be better. All this said, we will be back again and hope for the best! read more

Chill, unassuming bar that happens to have some of the best burgers in town. We've been here a handful of times and every meal is excellent, and we always come home with leftovers. Standout meal is the meatloaf sandwich. Holy giant slab of beef, Batman! Huge chonk of meat with a build-your-own sandwich option and I think it's my favorite meatloaf in town. Prices are reasonable, service was good. We typically go on less-rowdy weeknights, so not sure what the vibe is like on weekends, but it's pretty chill when we've gone. One complaint, I strongly dislike their sweet tea. Ordered it 2 different times and both had to switch over to a soda. If you are a tea lover, skip that drink and opt for something else. read more

Alright y'all - you know I do NOT like to leave even close to a bad reviews but this was not the best experiences. My friend and I ordered the fried green tomatoes. They came out looking wonderfully beautiful. However, they were frozen solid! I couldn't even fully into one of them. We kindly told our server and they remade them. However, when they came back out, two of the four were still frozen. Which brings me to the point that they were incredibly unevenly cut. And why were they frozen to begin with? Idk, but I was highly disappointed. The server wasn't the best either. As sweet as can be but she didn't check on us at all. I had to flag her down both times. The manager was nice and comped it for us. But still, I'm scared to go back and order anything else. There is, however, a bar crawl coming up with them included and I hope to give them that second chance. We'll see then. read more

Already updating my review from three months ago, because this place has definitely become a go-to spot for me. I keep working my way through the menu, and everything is delicious. Prices are super reasonable, service usually good, and it's not uncommon for me to have some leftovers for another meal. Adding to what I said in my original review, I have been back specifically for the meatloaf TWICE! Once on a sandwich with Texas Toast and grilled onions (is there any other way?) and once as a stand alone entree with two sides for the classic meat and two experience. This meatloaf is a CHONK. Massive slice! It is very similar to the one at Kau, and in general, the menu has strong Kau vibes, which makes me think there is a connection. Hearty, flavorful, tasty "ketchup sauce" baked on that is caramelized just right. I keep trying a different side each time, and it's getting difficult, because all but the collard greens have been top tier (they were fine, I like mine with more vinegar and a touch of sweetness). As mentioned in my prior review, the fries are perfect. Now I also know that they are serving house breaded fried okra, and it was so nice and crispy. The mac and cheese is fire, a lovely cheese sauce but also baked and browned on top. To me, tastes quite a bit like Chick-Fil-A and that is a good thing because they stole that recipe from someone's grandma. This place is flying under the radar as an excellent choice for a low key sports bar, or local watering hole with reasonably priced drinks, and I think it deserves some more attention! We have now been to Lockwood Tavern twice now can 100% say that it is worth it! We stopped by for our second visit last weekend and ordered a few different dishes we didn't get to order during our first visit and wow all of them were hits as well. We love consistency and boy oh boy have they all been consistent. To start, we ordered the Collard dip with pita and tortilla chips. This was honestly a pleasant surprise! I wasn't sure how the dip would be with collards but the flavors all worked well together! Basically a spinach dip but with a southern twist haha! For our meals we split an order of Pig Basket fries and a Smothered Comfort with tots. The fries were absolutely loaded. Topped with homemade cheese sauce, shredded pork, bacon, and BBQ sauce drizzle, you honestly can't go wrong here. Not only loaded with toppings, they were loaded with flavor too. I'm not a super fan of BBQ sauce to begin with, but there was the perfect amount to go with everything else. 10/10 would recommend! The Smothered Comfort was the perfect comfort food sandwich to have on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Crispy fried chicken topped with Mac and cheese and cheese sauce? Oh, sign me up any day! It was like slapping Sunday dinner on a sandwich. Come to think of it, it would probably be amazing with a side of collards! Lockwood Tavern is our newest go-to restaurant. Somewhat of a sports bar with several TV's, bistro tables, and a long bar (which was full of what appeared to be regulars). The menu includes appetizers, a nice array of sandwiches, AND entrees harkening to your grandmother's Sunday table. They also feature daily specials of not only drinks, but also food. We had the meatloaf with Mac n' Cheese, black-eyed peas, and potato salad. The meatloaf is huge! The Mac n' cheese serving is very generous, too. Easily shareable. I tried the daily special steak sandwich. It was high quality steak, sautéed onions, green peppers and mushrooms on a delicious roll. High quality for sure. This is definitely not pub grub. I'm trying to decide if Lockwood is a dinner in a sports bar or a sports bar that houses a great diner. Turns out, it's both. read more

I can always count on my son, Erik to find a new place we can meet to eat so I have another establishment to write a Yelp review about. Lol. This time he recommended the Lockwood Tavern for lunch. I never argue with my son when it comes to restaurants and food! It was a bit of a drive from my place near downtown Greensboro, but definitely worth the drive. It was out of my normal fare in that I tend to not go to sports bars and tend not to eat good old fashioned burgers and fries but today this place hit the spot. Lockwood Tavern had a nice big bar and spacious area for seating. Erik and I had a lot of important things to discuss, so I don't remember too much about the environment, but I do remember that I was very comfortable and relaxed and felt we had privacy to talk about some personal stuff. That's important to me when I meet somebody for a meal and I'm looking for the ability to have an intelligent conversation and not feel like people are sitting on top of me. I appreciated that. Even though it is a sports bar, I did not feel overwhelmed by music or sounds from the TV. I had a fantastic smash burger with French fries and all the works. I don't remember the last time I had one of those and I loved it. Erik seemed to enjoy his meal as well. The meatloaf looked delicious and I tasted a few pieces at the end. Yummy! This spot has only been open for a few weeks now, occupying the space that was home to Danny's for a number of years. The interior, which is rather small has been attractively redone in a very modern way. There is a bar area now, and the place is clean and bright. There are a few booths, several normal sized tables , but most of the seating is made up of those tall metal tables with the very uncomfortable metal chairs, and a number with the tall metal stools with no back support! And there is seating around the length of the bar. Not sure that was completely thought through - I would think that part of what you want in a sports bar setup is to have your patrons seated for more than a little bit while consuming adult beverages - what I saw would seem to limit one's comfort while doing that. We started with an appetizer - Hasselback Smoked Sausage ($8.32, strange price). The sausage was not cut Hasselback fashion (rather thin slices into the sausage but not cutting thru to the bottom, leaving the sausage intact), but rather cut into chunks of varying size. The sausage was perfectly grilled and the flavor was among the very best I've tasted! The accompanying sauce was also outstanding. Our entrees consisted of Country Fried Steak ($14.50) with Collards and Succotash, and Meat Loaf ($13.50) with the same sides. Both entrees were very good, decent size with a nice depth of flavor. The collards were very, very good and were cooked with ham hock. The succotash was very good, and very different from any version I've ever eaten. There was a small amount of sliced okra, slices of green bell pepper, and a good amount of black eyed peas with no tomatoes, no liquid period! Texas toast was on the plate as well, and it was absolutely perfect - nice crunchy texture, no sogginess at all! All in all, this was a very nice meal, and admittedly a bit of a surprise - both the pub side and the country cooking side were well done! Look forward to returning. Over the weekend we stopped in and tried Lockwood Tavern for the first time and it definitely won't be the last. Our server was really nice. We decided to split some appetizers as our meals so we ordered the southern egg rolls, sausage dip with pita chips, and the super loaded tots with bacon. All three were so delicious! My favorite were the egg rolls. They were the perfect combination of flavors from a traditional egg roll and southern flavors combined. The sausage dip was creamy and had a great flavor with a little spice. The pita chips with it were perfect. The super loaded tots were indeed super loaded and also really good! Great atmosphere, service, prices, and food! I'm so excited that Lockwood has opened in the area, much needed! We stopped in to check it out on a Saturday night and it wasn't super busy at all which was welcomed. Rob was phenomenal! The other folks we talked to were also really nice and fun. The food menu is quite interesting, with unique "bar food" options. Their cocktail list offers interesting cocktails for a reasonable price of 8 bucks! And they were really good (Cheerwine Old Fashioned and Moscow Mule). My dad got a burger and said it was wonderful. I was on a liquid diet this go round but excited to try some grub in the future. The parking was good here the night we went but I can see if it packs out it may not be as convenient. Inside is clean with several tables and a medium size bar. Lots of TVs to catch a game. A friend and I decided to stop in after work yesterday. We arrived around 5:30 and were promptly greeted and told to sit where we'd like. We chose a booth, one of two I believe. The rest were high top tables. Our server, Sterling, was amazing and suggested some of his favorite options and joked with us a bit. Neither of us were super hungry and I'm a little sad about that because they had a lot of great options to choose from. I ordered the Southern BLT and it was really good. I would say the toast was a little too thick for my liking and I had to take some off to be able to taste the pimento cheese, tomato and bacon. The fries were just okay. My friend ordered the sausage dog and devoured it. The table next to us ordered delicious looking grilled pork chops and fried chicken so I'm excited to go back and try those options. Oh, and let's not forget the drink options! They have house cocktails to choose from. My friend ordered a key lime pie drink and really enjoyed it. I opted for just tequila and soda, but I will say for $5 it was a strong drink! I ordered another one of course. The prices are reasonable. Really cool new place just opened at end of New Garden closer to Battleground! We heard about it after playing pickle ball at BurMil Park. Decided to head over for lunch. Really clean and great atmosphere and nice use of the space. We were greeted immediately and sat in a booth. Menu has a good variety of apps, sandwiches and some salads and lots of different beers. Wine and liquor drinks. I ordered the smash burger and it was a smash!! Brioche bun toasted to perfection and 2 wonderful patties inside. I will ask for less salt on the burgers next time. I loaded it with the variety of condiments etc offered. Lots of options. The fries that came with it are the kind that have a little crust to them. All the food was hot and fresh. Tried Lockwood for dinner tonight after reading the good reviews. We were very disappointed. Although our server was nice, it took a while for anyone to acknowledge us after we grabbed a table. Once we ordered (a burger and a pulled pork sandwich), it took almost 30 minutes to get our food. Our server finally stopped by to say our food would be right out. And it was, but it was room temperature. If the server is saying it'll be right out, I'm expecting it's cooking right then and should come out hot. Neither dinner was, nor the tots and fries. Let's get one thing straight. Service at Lockwood was not fast so pack your patience; however, that in no way changes our 5 star rating. First off, they have a nice selection of beers although none on tap. Plus a handful of unique, tasty cocktails. My wife enjoyed the habanero infused sunrise. For food we tried their collard green dip. Very unique, very flavorful and we would suggest having it with pita bread because they toast it and that added a lot. For main course we enjoyed their meatloaf. It was very good and the side of grilled asparagus was perfect. The food is fresh which may be part of the reason the serving took a while. First off I'm going to state that this place has repeat violations for not having a certified food manager on premises which probably explains the food issues. 3 stars because this is a new restaurant and I know the growing pains from time in the industry. We came in at about 1:30 on a Friday. Typical dive bar scene. Nothing on draft all bottles and cans. Upon arrival the server was short with us, said sit wherever you like, not acknowledging the only place for us to sit with our one year old was the only open booth left that was not bussed yet. I pointed that out to our server and she bussed table which was a plus. We then go to change our son in the bathroom. The floors outside and in the bathroom were sticky to where I can audibly hear each step I take sound like Velcro being undone. There isn't a changing table which is a demerit for me. After taking our son back out to the car to change him, we go back inside and I went to grab the highchair because no one brought us a one. When I got to the highchairs the first one I grabbed was filthy with dry food and sticky. Our server was overwhelmed with the 5 tables they had. We ordered our food and after waiting 30 mins for it to come out, my child was hungry and restless. When the food finally came out it was unfortunate. My wife's tenders were drowning in oil to where the breading was peeling off, my tots were luke warm, and they vulcanized the garlic on my sandwich into little bitter nasty bits. I sent the food back and we left. I explained everything to the manager on duty who did not have the time of day for me and quickly tried to the end the conversation and rush off. I had to walk to the expo window to get someone's attention because they never asked how our food was. I then reached out to them on social media and was polite, to which they read but no response. I will try this place again and update this review. My main issues were the food, how the situation was handled, the lack of regard for my child waiting 30 mins for his food and my wife's oil drenched tenders. I can deal with a little burnt garlic, but once they are unhappy, I am unhappy. read more

This place is a hidden gem!! Came here on a Wednesday @1pm - only one or two other guests. Owner behind the bar- super friendly & personable. It is clean, well decorated/designed. Although on the smaller side (in strip mall), the layout works & bar area is good size. Pricing on beer is competitive & many good options (we love wicked weed!), as well as many unique mixed drink options that I would love to try. The menu is originally what drew us here & does not disappoint, although it didn't blow me away, it was good & large portions. Food highlight for me was the fries, perfectly seasoned and crisp & chicken was tender. Decent size outdoor sitting area on a nice day. They have the NFL package & activities throughout the week (karaoke, music bingo, jukebox, etc.). We will be back & recommend checking out. read more
