Loco Burrito has really tasty lunch specials and chips. They had a unique weekday special alongside their usual discounted lunch plate. I opted for the taco lunch special, which came with three street tacos, two sides, and a beverage of choice. If you have preferred sides, make sure to ask for them because I have been automatically given beans and rice. Besides soft drinks, agua frescas were available to choose from. I asked for my tacos without cilantro, but I have received it every single time. There was a self serve bar with fresh chips and salsas. Each sauce was vibrant and acidic. The chips were crisp and salty despite being under the heat lamp of death. *Street Tacos: the carne asada and al pastor are very good. The carne asada was more mild so the sauce bar helped spice it up. The al pastor was nicely fatty and sweet. It was good on its own and the superior protein. *Mexican Rice: good spiced tomato flavor. Cooked nicely firm. *Refried Beans: hit or miss. Sometimes it resembles bean soup while other times I can actually taste the seasoning. *Horchata: on the sweeter side but a good amount of cinnamon. Not watered down at all. Considering I am from San Diego, these were pretty darn good tacos. The sides were not special, but I liked the agua frescas. Every time I visit a new city, I make it a mission to find a great taco spot -- and I feel so lucky to have found this place in Riverside! I usually go for taco trucks, but this restaurant caught my eye and did not disappoint. They had so many combo options, but I went with the taco combo, which let me try their birria, asada, and pastor tacos. For my sides, I chose elote and fries -- both were fantastic! The fries were perfectly hot and crispy, and the elote was super flavorful and saucy, just how I like it. They also have a self-serve salsa bar, which I loved! The workers were so nice to give me small togo containers for the sauces. The green sauce, radishes, and lemon slices were all fresh and delicious. Out of all the tacos, the birria was my absolute favorite -- tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The pastor came in a close second! There was plenty of parking and lots of tables for dining in. I got my food to-go, and even after the drive back, everything was still hot and fresh. This spot is definitely a hidden gem. I'm glad I tried this fun and casual yet authentic taco shop. My girlfriend and I went there for lunch and the food was fantastic. My girlfriend had 2 tacos, one beef and one chicken. I had the three taco plate that came with two sides of your choosing. I had the Pastor tacos with Pinto Beans and Rice. And a large Horchata and everything was delicious. The employes were really friendly and offered a lot of help to the customers. These lunch specials are phenomenal! We ordered the shrimp tacos and fish tacos with rice and beans -- and I chose rice and fries. Everything was absolutely delicious. I also had the horchata and my husband had the jamaica. My horchata was a little sweet for my personal taste, so I added a bit of water, but I'm definitely not docking them for that -- the flavor was still amazing. Before we went in, I called ahead to ask about the lunch specials, and the person who answered the phone was fantastic. His service alone convinced me to try the restaurant, and I'm so glad we did. The Baja fish tacos were our favorite but the hard shell taco was good too. We wished we could have used asada or some other meat on the hard shell taco but it only comes in either a shredded chicken or beef. We both loved the loco fries asada. My husband liked the lengua taco, me not so much. The Al pastor tacos had pineapple in them, which was surprising. The cheesy tacos were indeed cheesy -- not sure if I wasn't a fan because I just didn't like it very much or because I'm pregnant and this baby has changed my normal taste. Will have to try it again after delivery. The aguas fresca were good too. We got the mango and the tamarindo. Next time I want to try the horchata. Loco Burrito has some of the best shrimp I've ever had! The shrimp was incredibly fresh, perfectly seasoned, and cooked just right. I'm pretty sure they changed ownership because the menu changed and it doesn't look the same inside and the food doesn't taste the same. There is no longer a chip stand where you can grab chips for free you need to purchase them now. The staff is very nice and kind. Ordering was quick and easy. I got a fish taco plate and rice and fries, a regular burrito, birria combo, and more tacos and purchased chips. The fish tacos were delicious and taste the same but the rice which used to be my favorite is now hard to swallow because it was hard and flavorless. The birria tacos were so oily and the birria dip was flavorless tasted like just dipping in more oil which it didn't need. The tacos I got the meat flavor was also non existent. The burrito was also on the same line as everything else flavorless with hard rice. Have driven by this place several times wanting to try it so finally here I am. They had a small lot but it wasn't packed at all. There's some nice shaded outdoor seating on the way to the front entrance. I ordered the burrito bowl with black beans, a birria torta and side of fries. Chips and salsa were free, which is nice. If you order to go, they give you a small paper bag for chips, and more than enough cups for salsa. The burrito bowl was fantastic. The birria in my torta wasn't that great. I ate half, then tried revitalizing the other half the next morning utilizing the microwave and toaster oven. Still tasted too much like a soggy mess and the birria was just too flavorless, so I just didn't bother finishing it. Oh well. I'll be coming back, just not for the birria or a torta. read more

After about 10 years, I am pleased to say that Loco Burrito still meets my expectations. With a simple flame in their design, the restaurant offers a kick to their setting. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Food and drinks are great prices here. My favorite food to order is the al pastor tacos. Crunchy, hot chips are free when dining in; one bag of chips is free to dine-out. My favorite drinks are the aguas frescas, including the horchata and the cucumber lime. I like this place and I usually come because it's on my way home from work, but I usually get excellent taco plates in (Riverside) from the taco station. I wish you guys would at least put the rice to the top of the container on to go Orders like there's no way I should be able to get my fork and move the rice in the middle and see the bottom of the container. I like they the specials allow you to pick multiple sides ranging from a side salad to traditional rice and beans. They also have fountain soda as well as bottled drinks such as Mexican Coke. There is no alcohol at this location. After ordering you will find that they have chips along with a salsa bar with all of the toppings and salsa you could want . The cabbage here is amazing. Overall the food is good ! However I ordered the taco and enchilada combo - my taco was placed in the same container as the enchilada and so the taco shell was soaked in sauce and came apart. Do you know how many times I've driven by, craving that exact burrito, only to be left with Del Taco or Taco Bell as my only options? It's just not the same.
