Came back to eat here again finally after remembering I gave this place a great review for great food when they first opened. It's been over a year so I thought I'd return. The taste is not the same type of quality then when I first came. I had the carne asada California burrito and my sister had the enchiladas. Their style is slightly different but not for the better. French fries were boiled not fried, too much rice and beans which overpowered the whole burrito. Meat inside mediocre at best, definitely no where near the 5 stars I first rated it. This place is one of the best, most authentic Mexican restaurants I have tried! The food here is incredibly delicious and they have SO much to offer!! Their menu is full of authentic and popular foods, and even includes seasonal dishes like tamales during the holidays! I work around the corner and absolutely LOVE eating here when I can. The service is fairly quick, especially considering that they can get pretty busy at times! They have some areas to sit and eat inside, but you can also take the food to-go as well. They also have a spot inside where you can grab chips, salsa (both for the chips and spicier salsas for your meal), limes, and more. I want to start by saying that El Rey Taco Spot's food is absolutely delicious -- the tacos, salsas, and flavors are all amazing. I've eaten here multiple times and truly enjoyed the quality of their food. However, I've chosen to avoid coming back because of a disappointing experience I had with their catering service. I've ordered taco trays for birthdays and get-togethers, and I've never encountered any other place that charges extra for limes, salsa, cilantro, and onions -- items that are normally included with tacos. What made the situation worse was that, in the restaurant, they have a self-serve bar where those same items -- along with yellow chilis -- are complimentary. It just didn't make sense to be charged extra for them in a catering order. When I politely asked about it, the person who took my order was very rude and dismissive, which left a bad impression. To reiterate, the food itself is great -- no complaints there. But after that catering experience and the poor customer service, I'd rather take my business elsewhere. read more

A great mexican food spot in the orangecrest area of Riverside! This place is tucked away in a small strip mall next to the 711. You can tell that this place is legit since this place was pretty busy. We ordered the shrimp burrito and it was delicious. It was packed full of plump shrimp, cabbage slaw, rice, and beans. The portion size was huge so you can definitely split this to 2 meals. What i noticed were taco tuesdays so I'll definitely be back for that.
