This location is inside the park and you have to take a tour to get here. The food was suprisingly good especially the sweet potato fries. The burger was just ok but I was happy they had gluten free buns. On this day the weather was great so we ate outside. There were lady bugs flying everywhere which was interesting. If you enjoy solid grub and solid scenic overlooks this will be your spot! Enter from the main entrance or the quicker 'back entrance' way. The back winds around and then up towards the nature store and inside area where there is a little petting zoo with goats. I really enjoyed coming here on my way home from my trail race. It's a fun stop and you can do it along with exploring Fossil Rim. You can come without checking the park though free of charge. They have smaller single snack serving plate (veggies, hummus, cheese etc) or sandwiches and full meals. The sweet tea was pretty good and they also have hot chocolate for the kiddos, coffees, fountain drinks. Even on a rainy day I saw families and people coming to enjoy the overlook in the back. They have an area to sightsee and get views of the animals from the top. A must see if you are in the Glen Rose and Fossil Rim area. read more

I do not get the 2.5 star rating it currently has. We had a good experience with food reasonably priced, especially considering the venue. We ordered chicken sandwich, patty melt and grilled cheese sammy. All the food came with drinks (canned Pepsi products) or water. Accompanying chips were either Doritos or Lays classic and baked. The cost was 6 bucks for kids meal and 9 for adults. Staff was nice and the food came out in good time. Due to pandemic we found seating outside where they had benches, well spaced. While you are here you don't have any other options for food so they could totally stiff you but they don't imo. All of our food tasted fine, nothing special but we liked it. Its a solid 3.5 stars rounded up. read more

Stopped here while driving through the park seeing the animals. It's a cute little place with a somewhat limited menu. But it provides a nice break when you want to get out of your car and have something cool to drink and some food. I just had a grilled cheese, (with Fries of coarse). In fact all of us had grilled cheese that day if my memory serves me right. People should not expect a five star dining experience. And by that I mean it isn't upscale. What it is though is a cute little cafe, that you can go to, to take a break during your drive through Fossil Rim and also get something to eat. The view is quite nice and we were glad to come here as we spent a long time here and it was nice to get out of the car and get a little rocket fuel! And frankly we were hungry. And it does beat eating in your car. Friendly staff as well. read more

Located at the halfway mark of Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, you'll find a cute little cafe with an amazing view of the park. Don't expect anything fancy in the decor or the food, the view is the main attraction here. My friend and I came in early on a Saturday so there was not a crowd. We were greeted promptly and the staff was friendly enough. Prices for food were a bit high but seeing as how it helps with the upkeep of the animals, l get it. But man, I couldn't get over the drink prices. I settled for a bottled water. The chicken philly sandwiches that we got were tasty. The view is wonderful and it was such a nice day to sit outside on the covered balcony. There were quite a few birds flying around and chirping about. It was just a very enjoyable place to have a quick bite before heading out for the second half of your adventure. I would stop by again on future visits to the park. read more

Yummy grilled cheese and crinkle fries, but best of all you overlook Fossil Rim's giraffe pasture. Great lunch spot. Accessible halfway through the park or you can go to the back entrance if you just want to do lunch. read more

I was at the park and happened to be at the Cafe. Might have avoided the place if I had checked the reviews. But now I am glad I didn't. I order the Junior Cheese Burger while my wife tried a veggie burger. The lady at the counter was sweet and the remaining staff were friendly. We sat outside and the view was just perfect. As we waited couple of exotic looking small birds flew to the tables next to us. The burgers were cooked well and so were the fries. Food appeared affordable too read more

Overpriced and horrible quality. Peanut butter and jelly is made with expired and separated peanut butter. When I went to complain about it and let them know the response was, once it has been bitten into, we cannot take it back or switch it to something else. Take your food into this place which obviously gets zero health inspection and don't waste your money and health here. read more

Located about half-way through the drive-thru wildlife park or you can enter from Hwy 67 and grab something to eat at the Look-Out Cafe. It was a locally owned business with a BREATHTAKING high on top of the Texas "mountain". There was a simple menu consisting of hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, a Ruben and a Philly steak sandwich for adults and hot dogs, grilled cheese and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the kids. All sandwiches came with home-style thick fries and the kids even got a small bag of cookies to. All of the meet had a bit of a "different" taste as did the water so I think there must be a connection. The steak sandwich was by far the best value and we would recommend NOT ordering the hamburger (more like a vegi-burger...which they also had on the menu) but everyone left completely full. The price of an adult meal was $7.98 a sandwich and the kids were about $4. It was a nice break to grab some food, stretch our legs and take a turn about in the adjacent gift shop and petting zoo. For a tourist spot the prices were reasonable but it was difficult to find any "American" made gifts. read more

I went with my grand daughter in yesterday July 3rd. I give them the benefit of the doubt because it was a very busy day. However, they were out of all of their drinks except for Unsweet tea and water. Staff seemed tired and unfriendly and tables were not clean. The food was okay but for as much as you pay here altogether it was not worth it. read more

As much fun as it is bringing a picnic to Fossil Rim it's hard to not stop at the Overlook Café too. They have a nice selection of burgers and sandwiches, drinks and ice cream...all reasonably priced and a fantastic view of the Giraffe paddock to boot. Love it! read more

Very nice staff. Food was average (bumped up to 3 stars because of view). Everything that we had was fresh but they just need to make a few changes to make it good/great. I had the turkey and cheddar ($7.95). First the good....the cheddar looked great and there were two slices; the turkey was fresh. The bread, however, was overwhelming; can't taste the ingredients on the sandwich. It was served on a thick kaiser roll. A fresh multigrain sliced bread would be better or a choice of breads (including gluten free) would be fantastic. I also had the browser salad ($5.95). This was served on shredded iceberg (didn't know that folks still used shredded iceberg for anything but a garnish on Mexican food).; it would taste much better served on spring mix. It had tomatoes, olives, red onion, monterey jack (?) cheese. I chose the balsamic dressing over the ranch and it was a good choice (creamy balsamic). The ingredients were fresh but the shredded iceberg was all wrong. Kids had pbj ($4.95) which looked good, but again, served on very thick bread. The toffee white chocolate chip cookie was moist and delicious. They also have several ice cream choices (push-up bars, good humor bars, etc). If they just made a few changes it could be an incredible place to stop midway through your fossil rim tour. View was incredible. we went to fossil rim, yesterday, me and my friend wanted to have coffee since it was very cold outside, so first i bought a coffee and requested the girl to give me one extra...tiny pack of creamer, girl like anywhere else handed over the creamer. then my friend bought her coffee in 5 mins gap, an old man came to counter, when asked if we can have one more creamer with this coffee he said i will charge you 50 cents for it, we told him young man before you didn't charge us for it on last coffee, n that guy also told him we dont charge but he insisted that we have to pay 50 cents for creamer. i dont think reviewing a cafe on the basis on the visual views it provides is right thing to do but on the service it provides to its customers. since this cafe has the monopoly, they literally misbehave with people. read more
