Our hotel valet suggested Loda and couldn't have been more right! Fun atmosphere where everyone fits right in. We had the absolute BEST fried mushrooms in the world! It'll be like 10 mins, and they only go missing after they ask me if I need something, and I say no. My friends and I were staying in downtown Mobile on 4th of July. We had a huge lunch, so we weren't super hungry, but we wanted drinks and knew we should probably eat a little something. We walked down the street and decided on Loda. We walked inside, and the tables were all full. However, we spotted one table outside and took it. I was a little worried about sitting outside at first (hello, it's July in Alabama!), but they had TONS of fans blowing, which was awesome. Loda has a massive beer menu. They were out of a few I wanted to try, but I still did two flights and was able to try a variety of beers. My only wish was for a few more local beers, but perhaps there aren't as many local breweries in the area? I don't know. My friend and I split the nachos, and they were great!! It was a large serving, but we still ate every bite and nearly licked the pan clean. I wanted to try many other things on the menu, but I suppose that will have to wait. Our service was solid, especially for a busy Saturday night. it was cool to sit outside and on the street. I wanted a Bloody Mary and was told I could only get the $20 BM. That comes with a small dinner itself but I went with it. I did love it! It was delicious and I just let my Mini Schnauzer have the mini corn dog. It would be nice if someone that didn't want all that could just order a plain BM. Calling in and order can sometimes be a bit challenging. They may take a little longer than they claim and because of the noise in the background, they miss miss a part of the order. I'll preface this: my beer was very good. An awesome blueberry sour. The menu is eclectic and the outdoor seating is really nice. But that's it. The menu looked really good: but an hour and a half in when we just ordered burgers, we had no food and our waitress couldn't tell us anything more than "it's all good" every time we asked. We eventually talked to another waiter. who told us they couldn't even give us an update if it would be another hour or five minutes... so we left. The table next to us left without getting food delivered too, and the waitress again seemed completely unphased that customers were leaving without eating. I understand the staffing problems right now, but on a random Wednesday at 7:15 you should either be able to give your patrons a heads up on the food issues or not be open at all. I would like to have given this establishment four stars, but the waitresses were ignoring us, and they were very slow to serve us. One of us had to keep flagging them down. I understand there is a shortage of help, but don't tell us that you'll be back in a minute when you know it's not true. We all enjoyed our appetizers. I did not like my wine, and sent it back for a glass of Prosecco. When the bill came, I noticed I was charged for the wine and not the Prosecco, which was more expensive. The waitress said forget about it, which was nice of her, and she did not charge one of my dining partners for a soda. Although these gestures were nice, if the restaurant is running on a low profit margin, then the waitresses should not be so generous! After a day of disc golf, my friends suggested to try this craft beer and burger joint in downtown Mobile. Sounded like a winning combination...well, except I dont drink alcohol, but craft burgers ade always a win. I looked the menu and I was pretty impressed with the diversity. The atmosphere of the restaurant is like a bar, like you would expect. It is part of the nightlife of Mobile. Music is blaring loud so be prepared and there are picnic tables outside. While my friends were trying the massive 132 craft beer selection, I enjoyed my sweet tea immensely. It might have been the best part of my meal. I started with the Root Beer BBQ wings. Sounds amazing, looked amazing, the taste of root beer was present, but it was mostly a weak and runny BBQ sauce. The burger I had was the Chili Chili Bang Bang. It came with ghost pepper Jack cheese, onion rings, spocy queso, chili, and sliced jalapenos. It definitely had a bite to it! It was a humongous burger that I could not fit in my mouth. And as glorious as the representation and formula was for this burger, it felt like it had something missing. It needed some kind of sauce for me like a spicy BBQ, salsa, or hot sauce. I felt like it would have been better with just one or none onion rings. But the meat was cooked the way I asked and had a good chargrill taste. The queso was white and a little spicy. The chili was tomatoey and meaty. The burger didn't set my mouth on fire either as one would expect. For my side, I wanted the mac and cheese or potato salad. I already had fries earlier in the day so I wanted something else. I asked the waiter which was better between the potato salad and mac and cheese. He said mac and cheese and that's what I went with. It wasn't a good choice. The mac and cheese was hot and cheesy, but the cheesiness was like the kind of cheesy from the big can of nacho cheese. I saw the fries and I realized I had made a mistake because the fries werw like huge potato logs. Another note is the southeastern eggrolls were excellent. They tasted very similar to Chili's. So there are things about Loda to like. What I had was not awful, but I wouldn't say good either. The representation was better than the execution. read more

This review is based on an order to-go experience. The stars were mainly for unreasonable charges. (See the attached photo of receipt) Basically, besides a 10% tax, they "adjusted" a 10% Gratuity (which was explained as a 3.5% all non cash transactions at the bottom of the receipt). They also randomly surcharge for some orders as a to go order. Neither surcharges nor 10% gratuity were told to us during our ordering over the phone. Btw, the GIANT pretzel is snack size. read more

I called in an order and when I came to pick it up, I noticed an empty booth so I decided to sit and eat my food. After about 5 mins I was approached by a waiter saying I need to move "just in case someone comes in and wants to sit". I was so baffled that I asked him was he serious and he was very serious. PRETZEL BOMBS! That should be all I need to say about Loda Bier Garten. I have never had a pretzel as excellent as this one. It was crispy and salty on the outside while being perfectly cooked and soft on the inside. Add a side of beer cheese and BOOM-magic. One of the staff, Sarah, gets there early every day to make fresh pretzel dough from SCRATCH! And you can tell. All I need now, is for them to add a pretzel burger slider with beer cheese and grilled onion to the menu. I'll be back with a special request for sure. read more

Sadly, the last time I came in about 2 months ago with my son to celebrate his birthday, I was less than pleased.
