Due to circumstances, I actually ended up eating here twice in less than 24 hours. The first time was early afternoon on a Saturday. Ordered a new appetizer that was supposed to be a fried Brie with some soft pretzel bombs served with a sweet blueberry sauce. Sitting at the bar, the bartender took the order. Someone else brought it out, dropped it off and quickly moved on. Sitting in front of me was a huge pretzel and a patty of crusted fried Brie. The bartender walked by and said, what is that? He then took the plate to the kitchen area and asked what was up. Apparently they were out of the pretzel bombs and the blueberry sauce so instead of asking me they just gave me what they had. The bartender apologized and said he did not know they were out of half the ingredients or he would not have placed the order. Not his fault. The cooks should have notified him and let me decide if I wanted to change my order. The bartender let someone who I assumed was his supervisor know what happened but the supervisor never offered to replace the dish or to not charge me for it. Normally I would not have eaten there again but at 1:30 am, there weren't any options in walking distance so we went there again. We did get what we ordered that time which was Korean BBQ tots and bread pudding. The flavor on both was good but both dishes were dry and lacking any moisture or sauce. The thing that made me give it at least a 3 star review was the atmosphere that night. They gladly accepted our order even though closing in 30 minutes. They were busy but everyone seemed to be in a great mood and the music was popping. read more

A friend and I came here because I insisted on trying the "Sugar Rush Burger". The atmosphere is definitely casual and my first thought the inside looked a bit dingy. The restaurant was packed due to an Alabama football game so we ended up just sitting at the bar. The draft beer menu is VERY extensive and I was very pleased with their selection on tap. I ordered several pineapple ciders and a Stone Ruination. My only complaint with the overall ambiance was that everyone was screaming due to the game and the only time my friend and I could hear each other was when a commercial came on. I realize this is to be expected , I just wish we woulda came in sooner! Service was ok, the bartenders were all very busy and it usually didn't take too long to get another beer. I ended up ordering the Sugar Rush burger with a side of Mac & cheese (currently bulking, don't judge). The food came out pretty quickly and the burger looked absolutely beautiful. They use two whole cake donuts from a local bakery so the burger was stacked and that's putting it mildly. I literally had to use a fork to eat it. I am a donut fiend, and I took a bite out of the donut before even trying the burger. I was bitterly disappointed to find the donut was rather firm and not soft and cakey like I had expected. I moved on to the Mac & cheese which was pretty good, no complaints there. The burger itself was very crumbly which made trying to eat it with the donut a huge pain. Even though it wasn't as good as I was anticipating, I ate the entire thing. Overall I think the donuts left something to be desired and using softer, fresher donuts would improve the burger tremendously. If I was to come back it would be because of their awesome beer selection. read more

My first time visiting this restaurant was last weekend. I had the Saenger burger and onion rings - it was REALLY good. My service was good and there weren't any problems. Fast forward to last night and the reason why I WON'T EVER eat here again. Me and a group of my friends went here to get something to eat after I raved about the food, it was their first time coming there to eat. We sat at the bar - next to where they pick up the food- rather than sitting at one of the tables. After we placed our order, the Manager came to pick some food to go to another table when we noticed a roach crawling on the bar. The manager killed the roach with her BARE HAND and proceeded to grab the food to take someone's table WITHOUT Washing her hands. At that point we said that couldn't eat there, when we brought it to her attention she replied that "she's doing the best that she can". It's really disappointing because my food from the previous weekend was good but being unhygienic is an absolute no for me and I can't refer them to anyone any more. read more

My wife and I were in Mobile for the first time and we wandered into this cool little bier garten! The bartenders were very knowledgeable of the beer on tap and they have lots of great options for all tastes. The tap list has 50+ beers, most of them unique or hard to find. Food is awesome bar style food. Outdoor seating is great, including for large groups. Great place to watch sports or just hang out on the patio. read more

Wow!!!! We have been here a few times but not in the last year. So, we sit at the bar and a short young bartender starts telling us that the owner burned all the bacon, so there is no bacon left. All the burgers have bacon. Ok we order a flight of beer and a pretzel to begin with. 10 min later, no pretzel. Ask about it and she says.. it's coming. 10 minutes later we ask her again It's coming she says. I happen to mention it would be great for this restaurant to have a Reuben. She said.... oh no! During Covid the price of corned beef got so expensive we'd have to charge you $25. Ok. We ask again about our pretzel and order another flight of beer Then we order dinner and one waitress said we could substitute some type of sausage fit bacon on our burger. When I mentioned it it to the young short bartender, she said... oh no you can't. That sausage is very expensive. By now, we don't know if we should laugh or cry and if she was for real. Long story short... 40 minutes later we didn't have our pretzel, we got up and paid for our 2 flights of beer and swore we will never return. What kind of people do u employ? This is my children's favorite place to come and eat. They love the nachos, and joachim fries! I don't know what has happened with Loda Biergarden but the past few times we've came it has not been a pleasant visit and I'm afraid we won't be coming at the downtown location again! We came here over a month ago, and our server was Michelle, she was horrible! She seemed mad and in a foul mood. To top it off she goes around the corner to a computer, talking to an another employee and we hear the whole converstation. She was complaining about being overworked, and thats why she has to do drugs. Right there, with my children there! She comes back to the table, and my wife ask to speak to the manager, and she says she is one, that did it in for us. I hate it because our kids love the food there, but the last few times the service is absolutely horrible, and to know that a manager is giving us that type of service, and talking to where others can hear her complain about the establishment and doing drugs is disgusting and unprofessional! We are going to try the West Mobile location, hopefully it will be a better environment for my children! read more

The only reason I am giving this place 4 four stars is because we only had drinks, well, sort of. The Bloody Mary I ordered had snacks galore on it and it was delish! My husband ordered a flight of beers and they were delicious as well. Their beer selection is out of control and they had plenty of football on when we were there this past Sunday. Went during Mardi Gras on Joe Cain day, so we expected a long wait and iffy service. However, the wait was minimal and service was great! Our burgers were cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. My husband has been taking non stop about the "Hogzilla" for 2 days now, and we can't wait for our next visit!! I do wish the mac and cheese was homemade, but that's a minor detail. They have a lot on their menu to keep up with. Great beer selection, fun loving staff, cool atmosphere, clean restrooms, and awesome food. Definitely recommend spending an afternoon here. read more

So I don't like to review places because I think it's a personal preference. BUT my husband and I owned an Italian restaurant in Little Italy in San Diego. (Just sold it) I know how hard it is sometime to always be ON!!! We went here with high expectations as it was recommended to us. We are here for one night. We love unpretentious places. The place is cool lots and lots of beers. We heard the schnitzel was awesome. We always love to sit at the bar wherever we go. Our bartender I think her name was Bridget was the most unfriendly person I have discovered in our 4 week road trip that we are on now. Never smiled, never suggested a beer or food item. Once we ordered drinks, she finally asked if we wanted food???? We ordered The schnitzel to share and a house salad. She never asked if we wanted the salad first or bring us another plate so we can share. I did tell her we were sharing. I ordered another drink, my husband ordered a beer, she brought a sample and never asked if he would like to get that beer. She comes back, we say can we get the check!!! She looked so unhappy and it made us feel uncomfortable, so we left.. we could have easily got more drinks which would have added up to a bigger tab, we couldn't take her unfriendliness. Terrible customer service. 1st visit, waited over 30 minutes for a waitress as we watched them come and go assisting Caucasian customers around us. We finally, went in and requested assistance. The manager on duty assisted us for the duration of our stay(the food was great, we spent over $100 & tipped our waiter $25). My 2nd visit, (close to opening time 2/14/21) was a to go order of 25pc wings. I was denied curbside service for whatever reason, but this made it difficult to park and retrieve my order. After finally getting my order and back home, I found my wings to appear and taste old; as if they weren't freshly cooked. I contacted the manager on duty immediately (within 30 minutes of leaving). I spent 20 minutes on the phone being transferred between managers trying to persuade me the wings met my expectations. Finally, they agreed to replace my order. 02/26/21 I went in for my replacement and told my waitress I'd like to eat them there & have a few drinks. I also requested other food items to go. My waitress brought the wings in a Togo box anyways with. I requested plates, and she brought them right back (okay fine). The weather was nice, I stayed there a couple of hours enjoying the outside seating. When I was ready to go, I requested my waitress go ahead and get my to go order ready. I also ordered a beer with a shot of tequila. A different waiter brought the tequila which I found wasn't my preferred type of tequila. When I asked him to bring my preferred type instead, he refused and insisted I pay for the drink I didn't want. The manager on duty came back and guaranteed me I'd be paying for the unwanted drink or she'd call the police. Terrible customer service is a understatement and yes the police did come & of course I didn't have to pay for this drink. The police explained to her, he couldn't force me to pay for something I hadn't consumed. This manager on duty was soo petty and really turned my pleasnt evening to a horrible experience. I paid in cash and was due $1. & change, this manager took a while to bring the change & she sent a totally different guy with the card book full of pennies. Yesss, very petty when she was wrong from the start, because they should've asked me what type of tequila I preferred versus just bringing me their preferred choice. There was soo many chances for them to make this right but instead they challenged a paying customer over something so petty. But of course, I canceled my to go orders and my future plans of visiting this establishment. Clearly, my $ isn't welcomed here. Entirely too many mishaps. Coincidence, I think not. I believe, the to go box was the indication, I wasn't welcomed this trip. 2nd trip, refused curbside hoping I'd cancel my order and 1st trip; didn't greet or assist. I definitely got the notice and will not be coming back!! Calling police on a paying customer; just terrible Karen . A total waste of our tax dollars. read more

Service was horrible! Staff (mainly the manager) was rude and condescending. It seemed like they were annoyed that our food came to the table wrong and we refused to take what we did not order. The waitress might have been new but she did not know the menu or the different burgers when they came from the kitchen. I was very disappointed because I had been there several times before. But I refuse to spend my money where they don't appreciate all their customers. At the end the manager tossed all of our tickets on the table in a small stack, mumbled "sorry" and then walked away. My group and myself were not impressed. Decent selection of beers although we didn't seem to find much we enjoyed. That might just be us though. The pretzel appetizer and the burger was good, but the french onion soup was a joke. Watery not enough deep broth flavor. Near no cheese. No crouton/bread thing on top. Small joint. Crammed. The biggest disappointment was NO GERMAN MUSIC. NO GERMAN MUSIC PLAYED OVER THE SPEAKERS BUT NEITHER PLAYED LIVE. This was Friday night at 9pm. We highly expected live German music. This place is great. Best beer selection in town and specials up the wazoo every day of the week... ALL DAY. Not some weak 6-9 B.S. My husband saved me some Pork Schnitzel and brought it home last night. He must really love me. The flavor was so THERE, like whoa in your face good. The Bier Garden seems to be gaining popularity and that makes me happy. Finally a place in downtown Mobile with good food and good drink that is reasonably priced.
