My lady's hamburger was GREAT. She had the Bienville burger with onion rings! Me being a nacho lover, l went went those. Needless to say, they were the worst nachos I've EVER had in my entire life. I've had better nachos at movie theaters. The beer cheese tasted like melted NOTHING! The pork chili has NO seasoning to give it flavor. The best part of the nachos was the freaking sour cream to say the least. We also ordered desert which was the bread pudding. It was also not good. I will just stick with grandma's homemade bread pudding since NO ONE can get it right. Otherwise the atmosphere was great with good music. Usually like this place. Tonight ordered a beer off the menu and it said it was a particular flavor sour but then when it was brought out it was a completely different flavor. Not a big deal to me but I told server I didn't like it and didn't want it and she said well you already opened it. Well first of all it came opened when it hit the table. She said since it's been opened they can't take it off the check. Weird because most places if you don't like a particular drink they'll get you another one or not make you pay for it. Secondly the food sucked tonight. Ordered buffalo chicken dip and the dip was good but the chips were so stale I could hardly eat them. Told the waitress they were stale and her response was "I'm sorry" didn't even try to offer to make it better. Usually like this spot and get decent food and decent service with it being downtown Mobile I'm already not expecting much because it's a beer place but it all around wasn't a good experience. Due to circumstances, I actually ended up eating here twice in less than 24 hours. The first time was early afternoon on a Saturday. Ordered a new appetizer that was supposed to be a fried Brie with some soft pretzel bombs served with a sweet blueberry sauce. Sitting at the bar, the bartender took the order. Someone else brought it out, dropped it off and quickly moved on. Sitting in front of me was a huge pretzel and a patty of crusted fried Brie. The bartender walked by and said, what is that? He then took the plate to the kitchen area and asked what was up. Apparently they were out of the pretzel bombs and the blueberry sauce so instead of asking me they just gave me what they had. The bartender apologized and said he did not know they were out of half the ingredients or he would not have placed the order. Not his fault. The cooks should have notified him and let me decide if I wanted to change my order. The bartender let someone who I assumed was his supervisor know what happened but the supervisor never offered to replace the dish or to not charge me for it. Normally I would not have eaten there again but at 1:30 am, there weren't any options in walking distance so we went there again. We did get what we ordered that time which was Korean BBQ tots and bread pudding. The flavor on both was good but both dishes were dry and lacking any moisture or sauce. The thing that made me give it at least a 3 star review was the atmosphere that night. They gladly accepted our order even though closing in 30 minutes. They were busy but everyone seemed to be in a great mood and the music was popping. read more

A friend and I came here because I insisted on trying the "Sugar Rush Burger". The atmosphere is definitely casual and my first thought the inside looked a bit dingy. The restaurant was packed due to an Alabama football game so we ended up just sitting at the bar. The draft beer menu is VERY extensive and I was very pleased with their selection on tap. I ordered several pineapple ciders and a Stone Ruination. My only complaint with the overall ambiance was that everyone was screaming due to the game and the only time my friend and I could hear each other was when a commercial came on. I realize this is to be expected , I just wish we woulda came in sooner! Service was ok, the bartenders were all very busy and it usually didn't take too long to get another beer. I ended up ordering the Sugar Rush burger with a side of Mac & cheese (currently bulking, don't judge). The food came out pretty quickly and the burger looked absolutely beautiful. They use two whole cake donuts from a local bakery so the burger was stacked and that's putting it mildly. I literally had to use a fork to eat it. I am a donut fiend, and I took a bite out of the donut before even trying the burger. I was bitterly disappointed to find the donut was rather firm and not soft and cakey like I had expected. I moved on to the Mac & cheese which was pretty good, no complaints there. The burger itself was very crumbly which made trying to eat it with the donut a huge pain. Even though it wasn't as good as I was anticipating, I ate the entire thing. Overall I think the donuts left something to be desired and using softer, fresher donuts would improve the burger tremendously. If I was to come back it would be because of their awesome beer selection. read more

My first time visiting this restaurant was last weekend. I had the Saenger burger and onion rings - it was REALLY good. My service was good and there weren't any problems. Fast forward to last night and the reason why I WON'T EVER eat here again. Me and a group of my friends went here to get something to eat after I raved about the food, it was their first time coming there to eat. We sat at the bar - next to where they pick up the food- rather than sitting at one of the tables. After we placed our order, the Manager came to pick some food to go to another table when we noticed a roach crawling on the bar. The manager killed the roach with her BARE HAND and proceeded to grab the food to take someone's table WITHOUT Washing her hands. At that point we said that couldn't eat there, when we brought it to her attention she replied that "she's doing the best that she can". It's really disappointing because my food from the previous weekend was good but being unhygienic is an absolute no for me and I can't refer them to anyone any more. read more

The bartenders were very knowledgeable of the beer on tap and they have lots of great options for all tastes. The tap list has 50+ beers, most of them unique or hard to find. Wow!!!! We have been here a few times but not in the last year. So, we sit at the bar and a short young bartender starts telling us that the owner burned all the bacon, so there is no bacon left. All the burgers have bacon. Ok we order a flight of beer and a pretzel to begin with. 10 min later, no pretzel. Ask about it and she says.. it's coming. 10 minutes later we ask her again It's coming she says. I happen to mention it would be great for this restaurant to have a Reuben. She said.... oh no! During Covid the price of corned beef got so expensive we'd have to charge you $25. Ok. We ask again about our pretzel and order another flight of beer Then we order dinner and one waitress said we could substitute some type of sausage fit bacon on our burger. When I mentioned it it to the young short bartender, she said... oh no you can't. That sausage is very expensive. By now, we don't know if we should laugh or cry and if she was for real. Long story short... 40 minutes later we didn't have our pretzel, we got up and paid for our 2 flights of beer and swore we will never return. What kind of people do u employ? This is my children's favorite place to come and eat. They love the nachos, and joachim fries! I don't know what has happened with Loda Biergarden but the past few times we've came it has not been a pleasant visit and I'm afraid we won't be coming at the downtown location again! We came here over a month ago, and our server was Michelle, she was horrible! She seemed mad and in a foul mood. To top it off she goes around the corner to a computer, talking to an another employee and we hear the whole converstation. She was complaining about being overworked, and thats why she has to do drugs. Right there, with my children there! She comes back to the table, and my wife ask to speak to the manager, and she says she is one, that did it in for us. I hate it because our kids love the food there, but the last few times the service is absolutely horrible, and to know that a manager is giving us that type of service, and talking to where others can hear her complain about the establishment and doing drugs is disgusting and unprofessional! We are going to try the West Mobile location, hopefully it will be a better environment for my children! read more

Went during Mardi Gras on Joe Cain day, so we expected a long wait and iffy service. However, the wait was minimal and service was great! Our burgers were cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. My husband has been taking non stop about the "Hogzilla" for 2 days now, and we can't wait for our next visit!! I do wish the mac and cheese was homemade, but that's a minor detail. So I don't like to review places because I think it's a personal preference. BUT my husband and I owned an Italian restaurant in Little Italy in San Diego. (Just sold it) I know how hard it is sometime to always be ON!!! We went here with high expectations as it was recommended to us. We are here for one night. We love unpretentious places. The place is cool lots and lots of beers. We heard the schnitzel was awesome. We always love to sit at the bar wherever we go. Our bartender I think her name was Bridget was the most unfriendly person I have discovered in our 4 week road trip that we are on now. Never smiled, never suggested a beer or food item. Once we ordered drinks, she finally asked if we wanted food???? We ordered The schnitzel to share and a house salad. She never asked if we wanted the salad first or bring us another plate so we can share. I did tell her we were sharing. I ordered another drink, my husband ordered a beer, she brought a sample and never asked if he would like to get that beer. She comes back, we say can we get the check!!! She looked so unhappy and it made us feel uncomfortable, so we left.. we could have easily got more drinks which would have added up to a bigger tab, we couldn't take her unfriendliness. This place is popular. We went there for the first time last Saturday night. They had a huge beer selection! We also ordered a cheese-filled pretzel and onion rings that were delicious. You can sit outside, and the bar is pet-friendly. We returned there on Sunday night, and the place was crowded again. But this time it was 1/2 off all draft beer! Boom! What a deal! They had 2 bartenders on staff, and they were quite slow, so expect a wait. The local next to me at the bar said, "Sunday is the day to come here, otherwise you're just wasting your money." Again, we sat outside. There was a loud, obnoxious band playing indoors that we could do without. We enjoyed it, and will definitely come back next time we're in Mobile. read more

Though the name would make you think it's an authentic German restaurant/bier garten, nothing could be further from the truth. In reality, LoDa is an updated greasy spoon with an impressive number of beers on tap. Unfortunately, half of them are unavailable at any one time. The food is general pub-grub with only a couple of attempts at German food. My dining companions tried the meatloaf sandwich platter while I had the breaded pork tenderloin with potato salad and red cabbage. As someone who spent a summer in Germany, I can attest that this is a miserable attempt at German food. In fact, my friends' meatloaf sandwich tasted as if it had been marinated in pickle juice. That brings me to service, which others have commented on--there is none. The speed is glacial and inattentive. When my friends complained about their food, the waitress got in an argument with them about the percentage they had already eaten (about 1/3). We left and have no plans to return. read more
