We have been looking forward to this trip for some time now, especially now that it's right around the corner. Sadly, the owners of the Avalon decided to sell their home and it is now managed by Condotel. I was told that our reservation would be kept and someone would reach out about payment. At the time I spoke with Condotel the paperwork for the sell had not been completed. I was told that would happen in early August 2022. I called on 08/01/22 to inquire about the reservation and cost. I was told that our reservation had been kept and then he asked if I had received information on the payment, I said "not yet". He then proceeded to look for the payment information. My family and I had paid $4500 for the rental in 2020, through VRBO. The representative came back to the line to inform me that the NEW owners decided to increase the cost to $12k. I asked to be put in contact with the owners but was denied. Sadly, this was WAY MORE than my family and I could afford at such a short notice, so CONGRATS! to the new owners and whomever decides to rent the Avalon going forward, it will not be us. I do plan on posting this review about the Condotel service and on the Avalon to every media outlet I can find. EXTREMELY BAD EXPERIENCE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Gina C.

They worked with us and extended the trip with no issues. The rental was straight forward and the details of what was expected of us and what was at the cabin was all spelled out ? I got our deposit back about 2 weeks after the trip. The cabin is listed as a 3 bedroom. It has a normal size bedroom downstairs, one large master upstairs and a very small room with a fold out bed. Worked for our son and two GrandKids. Probably not for me and my wife. Master was large and roomy but it is an open air concept? So the balcony is over the living room. If a party is going on downstairs....you'll hear it in the master! The cabin was ok...needs a little TLC if it were mine! Great views of the woods behind the cabin. We had deer in the yard all 4 days. The hot tub is great! Deck has a dining table and bbq grill. Not fancy but very useable. The pool table is on a 1degree slope... Internet kept going down so we resorted to our Verizon MiFi. Lots of parking..we gad three full size cars there. The deck & hot tub are private except for a next door neighbor. Views were great with two hummingbird feeders and lots of birds using them. Location is very convenient to town. Take a backroad to Inn of the Mountains. If it were just the two of us, we'd probably rent again. With two sons plus family & GrandKids, we would probably look for something larger and maybe a little upscale next time. We had a great time. Casinos, eating out, drive up the ski area...and don't bet on Crypthasarrived ( race horse)...you'll loose your $40 bucks!

None of the 7 beds downstairs had any bedding. We had chosen this particular cabin - Little Bear Lodge - because all 12 of us would have beds and because of the dog toilet room we had to double up, 40 year old men had to crawl on to the top bunks and mates weren't with mates. The swimming pool and hot tub were a big draw as they were advertised as heated. The heater did not work. They charged us a $400 cleaning fee but expect us to clean before we leave AND haul trash ourselves! Do not go there. If you have to choose sleeping in your car or this, choose your car. It won't be as big an aggravation.

Very clean, in the heart of all the Ruidoso life, but still very private, and very comfortable. Our oldest girls loved the independence of the separate living space downstairs. The concern that something might go wrong lingered the entire trip. We left the cabin in excellent condition and have a video of the condition it was left in. After our stay the Owner of the cabin left a review stating we had left trash and removed smoke detectors and batteries from the rental. I contacted the host to inquire about the review and offer our proof that what she was saying was untrue. She was unwilling to view the proof we had and investigate further as her information was coming from people she had hired to clean after we left. I reviewed her interactions with other guests when they had less than perfect reviews she has a history of being slanderous towards them. Please save yourself the headache, there are plenty of other places to stay in Ruidoso. Keep this one off of your list.

No, the place isn't nestled in Old Town, but you are not far from there. Very close to other eateries well worth visiting. Not too far from your local ski slopes, and other tourist sites down the mountain. Karl was an excellent host. He checked in on us all the time, and made sure that we weren't ever without. It comes as no surprise that they 2021 (and potentially 2022) Traveler's Choice for Hotel location on TripAdvisor. We shall return.

The kitchenette has everything you would want to prepare your own meals, or you can take advantage of all the local restaurants. Karl and Laura are solicitous, generous, attentive, and so kind. I can't forget to include Rascal, the sweetest kitten I've ever met!! My husband and I felt welcomed and at peace. Family friendly but also romantic for couples! We extended our stay because we weren't ready to leave after three nights! A days drive from Central Texas, so we will definitely be back. I think we've found our home away from home! We went on three gorgeous hikes each day, all within 15 minutes drive.
