I had a semi truck towed due to an accident on 11/3/24, and here I am nearly a year later with the DMV still showing the truck in my name. The towing company claims to have "sold" it, but I've yet to receive a single shred of documentation proving that. To make matters worse, the owner received over $35,000 from my insurance but then demanded an additional $12,000 to release the truck back to me. I tried negotiating and asking for my truck back a few days after the insurance paid out, only for the owner to claim a week later that it had been "sold." When I asked for proof of the sale, he refused to provide anything and instead arrogantly laughed in my face, claiming the truck was sold for just $100--a laughable figure when considering the value of the truck's rims and tires alone. His exact words were, "Looks like you have a good court case." I've been calling for over 7 months, and most of the time, no one answers. When I do manage to get someone on the line, they brush me off with promises to "call me back"--promises that are never fulfilled. This company's actions are not just shady; they are predatory and insulting. They have no regard for people's property and seem to think they can play games with insurance money while treating customers like dirt. DO NOT USE SAM BERRI TOWING, unless you are willing to pay for more than what was performed. I had the option of taking another tow truck for my vehicle, but since Al (the driver on call) was the first to arrive at the scene and was really courteous, I picked him over the CHP towing company. AL took my vehicle back to my home, upon completing the service at 4:21 pm he confirmed with Jason the time of the call, 3:15 pm. Al got off the phone and quoted that he would only charge us for 1 hour of service. So we went to grab the payment, when Jason called him back and said No, you need to charge them for 2 hours. I was willing to actually pay for 1.5hrs because I knew Al had to drive back. The extra half hour that Jason was demanding was uncalled for. Specifically since Al was not the CHP company in line and would have lost the service call. I didn't think it was fair for Al, so I pick him, not the other guy. In conclusion, Jason has cost Sam Berri towing an additional $550.00 (a 2nd trip for us to fix the vehicle), so that he could make an extra $150 today. What a shame! The only reason this place gets 1 star is because i can't leave negative stars. My truck got towed to this yard after my son was in an accident. The amount of damage done will cause this truck to he totaled. We were told at the accident scene that we could retrieve our personal belongings at the tow yard. When we went to get our belongings we wete told we couldnt remove our personal box speakers and amp. I told them i talked to my insurance company and could remove my personal stero equipment and that i was taking it. Well they called the Lodi PD on me. The cops talked to them and said have my insurance co fax them a letter stating i could remove the items. After my insurance company informed me that this is crazy and they have never had to do this, they fid send them a letter. The next day i went with my son to remove his personal stero equip and after being disrespected by the workers they said i could only take my speakers and equailizer but not the amp. I informed them i was taking all the equip. While my minor son, his friend and i were disconnecting the items, the worker with tats all over his arms. Came out and said only i could be at the vehicle. He made my son and his friend leave their property against my knowledge, and also called Lodi PD again. PD showed up and the some worker remove my equipment and brought it out to me. They know this vehicle is going to be totaled, so why would they not let me remove my items. Makes one wonder if they remove and take things out of vehicles. This company has the most rude and disrespectful employees ever. I would recommend staying clear of this disrespectful and unethical business. Absolute trash service. It was a property (vehicles) damage only accident . The accident was my fault, and it resulted in my 2009 Camry being towed by the Steve Berrie Lodi Heavy Haul and Tow to their lot located at 940-944 Victor Road Lodi, Ca . Day two:12/2 Day one being the tow night. Starting with my first communication with their receptionist, Kelly, a front office phone clerk, obviously a minimum wage position., there was a man in the office also, Mike the manager . He was the only employee that acted me" somewhat " professional through this ordealalso s Mike Martin the company showed absolutely no good customer service or professionalism. The clerk is a middle age, poorly trained female . The clerk would not see my car that day, because the registration was in the car, I didn't have a copy on me. Day three: 12/3 After I provided my ownership documentation, myself and my long time friend, were allowed to see my car . I could not believe the difference between the damage I saw at the the time of the accident (pictures attached) My headlights were both on and operating after the accident , now one headlight was in little pieces all over the tow yards ground , and the battery is on the other side of the engine , disconnected. The seats were pulled out also , as if the car had been ransacked . Of course the registration was still In the glove box. Day four:12/4 I posted an ad on Stockton Craigslist, in the hopes of salvaging a small portion of the $8000 paid for this car on May 28, 2020 i was only asking $2000, primarily to cover the unbelievable tow yard charges Day seven:12/7 I took a possible buyer to the tow yard to see the car. The office manager , Mike, escorted us to look at my car Mike and my friend said the car was really in bad shape. Bent frame Day eight: 12/8 I. again took a possible buyer to the tow yard and the manager escorted us to see my car Day nine: 12/9 I arrived in the Am with a possible buyer (and the tow truck he had set up) , and were informed by the office clerk, in a very rude manner , that I would have to wait a half an hour til someone else was in the office , even though we could hear people in the back, the buyer said he had never experienced a company exhibiting such an angry and ugly attitude to a customer. The clerk then threatened to call the police , so my buyer left The jerks name is Day ten:12/10 I met two possible buyers at the tow yard and the manager escorted us to see my car. Day fourteen:12/14 This was the final day, Monday December 14; rental fee"2009 I arrived at the yard at 10:15 , I was meeting a possible buyer from Pittsburg, Ca There was a scruffy looking older guy in the office with the receptionist who started, literally, acting like a big boss yelling at me , saying they were not going to allow me to show my car to anyone .what??!? First of all, what? That is my car and I'm. trying to get the 1510$ tow yard charges owed to date . My balance with this company was $1510 and it increased $85 per day "rental" fee. Done being the time of the tow, in addition to lien fees and a three mile tow that cost 250$ plus the ransacking of my automobile . The car ran excellent and only had 10900 miles on it . There was not even a hole in any seat. workedEverything worked great and all routine maintenance was up to date. Secondly, I am a 65 year old hard working woman, who paid for, maintained and owned free and clear my Camry . I had liability and uninsured motorist Insurance coverage only. And most importantly, I am the customer and a decent human being, who did not deserve to be disrespected and treated in such an ugly way, by people who made up the rules as we went along and acted so ugly , They acted like they hated me !!! I was very fortunate that the buyer on that Monday morning, saw that something was very questionable with the tow yard staff, and he bought my car for 1700$ even without being allowed to see it first. I have a super Duty truck I Copperopolis, I called AAA B'cause I have a card, to have it towed from Copper to Marysville, CA 95991 on 10/15/2021. I left Marysville at 7:30 am, was 10 Mi. out of copper near ten O'clock. Pulled on to the wide shoulder of the road near an Intersection where 3 slide backs were loading crumpled cars. Called AAA, they referred me to a dispatcher, who told me they would be there within the hour, they came three hrs. later. at this time I asked for an estimate of overages, refused to give them to me. I left Copper after the AAA driver By 30 Min. I arrived at 5362 Fruitland Rd. Marysville, CA. an Hr. before the AAA Driver, At this time (4:30 pm) I get a call from the tow company saying I owe another $360 Because their driver had to go farther than I did to get to the repair shop in Marysville, did I find a more direct route? I pay cash, I had $322 on me, the driver watched me count it out. The Gold Eagle Markets ATM machine said that my Debit card is invalid, My Bank says that the card is wrong, I'm left arguing with plastic. Where do I begin? This company is full of scams! My car died in Lodi and I called and had them tow me to Sacramento which was approximately 33/35 mins the max. They told me it's $230 dollars per hour, which is 1 hour and some mins to get there and back from that location. The man who picked me up name started with a D, he end up charging me 2 hours of service totally my 33/35 min home $460 who in their right mind would pay for a tow in such a short travel time. That's price is like towing your car from the Bay Area all the way back to sac! There's no way in hell im letting them rip me off. I don't usually write Yelp reviews but I had such a good experience here that I really wanted to put this out there to show my appreciation. Last week I got into a car accident in Lodi. I was a couple hours from home, traveling by myself, and completely shaken up by they whole affair. The police officer who came to the accident asked me who I'd like to call to come tow my car. I didn't know the area so he said he'd call someone for me. He called and Ron was to the scene in minutes. When he got there, he told me to go sit in his truck and he'd take care of the car. Ron was the hero of the day. He completely took car of my car situation, going above and beyond. His job would've been finished at just replacing my front blown out tire with the spare, but he took the extra effort to put the back tire on the front and the spare on the back as that way would be safer for me to make the drive back to San Francisco. He even took me back to the shop where I was able to calm down, and hang out comfortably by the receptionist Cathy, while he did the work. Cathy was a delight, too. She had a very warm personality. I just can't say enough nice things about Ron. He is just as much a counselor as he is a tow truck driver. I was an emotional wreck before he showed up and he really helped to calm me down and put things into perspective. This place is awesome.
