Phil replaced my engine for me on my 98 Z71. It runs great. I'm pleased with his services.

I called in before I had my car towed to the repair shop for a dead battery. They confirmed the car arrived and we went over my BMWs issues. They ran diagnostics and let me know the items they found. I had known most of them but did not expect it to run in the tens of thousands. We planned on making initial repairs to gift the car to our son but we're contemplating if it was worth to do the repairs or just buy a different car. After talking about the cost and what it needed to get done, we decided to go forward with the repairs. They were willing to work with us which I really appreciated. I spoke to the owner, Phil, and he made me feel comfortable with the work that needed to be done and was confident it was going to run as good as new. There was some time getting the parts in that delayed the completion of the repairs however, we were not in any rush. To get started, we paid half of it upfront and paid the balance upon completion. Almost literally a life saver! Our 2008 Toyota Matrix, which we still owed payments on, needed a replacement transmission. Our usual mechanic wanted to charge us $3,000 to replace it, and of course, we didn't have the money. Luckily, we had a warranty on our vehicle, but our usual mechanic had had problems getting reimbursed by them, so I shopped around and came across Phil's auto. I contacted them through Yelp, and they responded within minutes. They understood our problem, and even said they had dealt with warranty companies before. The repairs were about $3,000, and the warranty company tried to deny the claim, but they persevered and got it completely covered. The car's transmission is still purring like a kitten, and we only had to pay the $200 deductible for the warranty. Not only a solid mechanic, but they fought for us. Phil's Auto has consistently taken care of my car since Bill retired (Auto Affair). My commuter Toyota is a 2010. While at almost 200,000 miles and still in great running condition, there are a few things here and there that have worn out and need updating. My shocks and struts, front left axle, brakes, and a vacuum leak are a few issues they have taken care of for me. The most recent issue I had was a little costly. They worked with me on the cost and I was able to get it taken care of in a price range I could afford. Vince is the one I usually deal with at the front counter. My car was in the process of breaking down at 4:45pm on a Wednesday and I was calling around while driving home from work trying to find a repair shop that might wait a few minutes before closing, so I could hopefully get there within a few minutes of 5pm (general shop closing time). Since I was 99% sure that once I turned my car off it was not going to start again. Phil was super nice and understanding and said he would wait, I was so thankful! Then after I dropped of my car and the rest of my experience was just as great. He was very honest, helpful and did not try and overcharge or sell me on crap I didn't need. Also his communication was awesome while he had my car and service was fast. I ended up have a separate issue a few weeks later and again he was consistent with great service, quality work and honest billing. I will be going to Phil's for all of my car needs in the future, including oil changes. And I would and will recommend him to anyone in need of good service with an honest price. I happened into Phil's Auto with a bad fan clutch bearing while traveling from Redding to Los Angeles. Vincent said it would be $145.00 for a diagnosis which I agreed to pay. The diagnosis included a thermostat replacement, a water pump replacement, a fan clutch and bearing replacement and a belt replacement totaling $1645.00. This work would take at least a day, Vincent said, but he could get it done in a day if I was willing to pay an extra $145.00 because his mechanic would have to work through his lunch. At this point I decided to tow it to another shop closer to home. This shop replaced the fan clutch bearing and replaced the belt. The work was done in one hour and the bill was $275.00. My opinion is Phil's Auto and Fleet is a predatory business willing to take advantage of a stranded motorist. They got $145.00 out of me for nothing but popping the hood. Total rip off. And btw, after I decided to tow my car Vincent came out and altered the estimate, reducing the price by $500.00. I'm not sure what kind of scam he's got going but I'm glad I got outta there. read more
