Pugh's daily listing as so hard to read as the names are of faded appearance causing you to really have to stare at the page. I dreaded going there for the first time, but was immediately put at ease. Timothy met me, sat down with me and explained everything. Although I arrived with a rough draft of the obituary, Timothy helped me finalize it and select a photo. He explained about the cremation process, explained the various urns. I opted for the compostable one, as I am planning to spread the ashes. I asked about the certified Death Certificate. Timothy was very helpful. I was ready to purchase 10+, but he advised that 5 would probably be more than sufficient and if I needed add'l ones, just phone Walker's and they will order them. It turns out he was correct--5 has been plenty. He did not try to oversell in any way. He was very respectful of the grieving process. When I returned to collect the "cremains", I again was assisted by wonderful staff who helped make a sad event not quite so sad. I highly recommend Walker's Chapel Hill. Knowing that the time was near, my husband had purchased a comprehensive plan from Hanes- Lineberry months in advance. It was the best thing he might have done. Planning a service from a distance is a challenge. However, everyone we dealt with at Hanes-Lineberry was kind, and professional. Brian watched over each and every detail, leading up to the service. The vendors they use were fantastic. I was in touch with their florist, Blossoms by Stroud, and Tracy put together the most beautiful arrangements. The caterer they use and that we had contracted for the reception supper, Above and Beyond, really was...best bbq pork and mac and cheese I've ever had, not to mention the incredible desserts. Al Lineberry, Mike Sears and Neil Whitacre were all exceedingly gracious. I have mentioned Brian already but he deserves a second mention as it was his heart and his efficiency that helped us pull everything together. Every aspect of the service and reception was lovely, just what we had hoped for. It honored Mom in the best possible way. My mothers most important wish was to be called back on the day of my fathers cremation. They could not give us a date and time during our meeting. We watched as our requested was noted on there paperwork and a day after the cremation they delivered remains without any notification prior! They took down basic information for filing the death certificate. It did not occur to us to provide any additional information for the obituary. Mom chose to have a service at their retirement community so the Funeral Home was off the hook for a service there. We had no follow up from the funeral home for the obituary or to check on Mom. At a time we really could have used some guidance it felt they were completely inattentive.
