LOFT Novato has an incredible selection -- both new arrivals and current season sale items, plus a great petites section (which can be hard to find in person!). The store is bright, clean, and thoughtfully laid out, which made browsing actually enjoyable. The sales team was super attentive without being pushy, and the manager was so kind and patient, even while training new employees. It's rare to see that kind of calm leadership on the floor these days. I originally came just to return something... but walked out with three new pieces and even ordered something online that wasn't in stock -- and the team made that process totally seamless. I'm baffled by the negative reviews. I recently went in there as a last stop for the day, fruatrated because I couldn't find a good interview outfit anywhere. I was about to give up when I went into this store. The clothing there is not generally my style and I was struggling trying to find something. Kat enthusiastically offered suggestions. She picked out a jumpsuit I would never have thought of trying on. It was super flattering and I wore it to my interview feeling confident. There was another nice woman named Terri at the register who made a necklace suggestion. I bought that, too. Overall very positive experience. read more

I freaking LOVE this store!!! Always great sales, clean and easy to shop. There is always an employee that greets me or asks me if I need any help. I've been shopping here for over a year and go online as they have online exclusives that are a great find at times as well. When I shop here I realize I'm getting a good deal and good quality. I also realize I'm not shopping at Bloomingdales or Saks 5th Ave where they chase you around frothing at the mouth to get your sales up to make commission on your purchase. I feel like the reviews are from folks who bargain shop thinking they need their hands held to try on clothes? I don't think the Novato Loft really deserves all the whining it has received so far. Granted, I've never been into the other locations so I cannot speak for those who say the service is better elsewhere, but my experience was perfectly fine. I was greeted by a young lady who offered to put my things in a room and happily found me a great camisole to go under the VERY CUTE tweed jacket I purchased. I also got some saucy savings cards at the counter, which are a frickin' deal, my friend. That's more attention or help than I get in most stores, with the exception of small boutiques. (which usually get so little traffic, they'd be bored outta their minds if they didn't help you.) To those of you who went so far as to call the girls in there "used up Marina bitches, etc" whatever that means, that's proof that if I had to work retail in marin county, I'd probably turn into a bitch, too. There have been more times than I can count where I've been in stores and restaurants in Marin County and seen you older, marin snob ladies give counter girls a hard time. Starbucks is just about the best place to see it happen,"WHERE IS MY LATTE? EXCUSE ME!? WHERE IS MY LATTE?" Grow up! What kind of self-entitled bitch do you have to be to give a girl, who makes minimum wage to put the clothes you try on back on hangers, a hard time? SLOWLY DECLINING DROP OF SERVICE AND SIZE SELECTION This used to be a good store. Don't know if there's been a switch of store managers, but the service has been on a steady decline. Used to be that every salesperson on the floor would be friendly and helpful. Now I may get a "howdy" when I first walk in, but there's definitely no help in the dressing room and often have to wait in line at the cashier, although there are other clerks doing who knows what behind the counter. Sizing is also so spotty. I went in there a few days ago, and just about everything in the sales rack was XS or S. Same with many of the cute regular stock items. You'd have to wonder about who's doing the ordering. If there are consistently only smaller items left over, maybe you'd want to order more M, L & XL in the front end. Anyway, I'm inclined to agree with the many other yelpers who suggest going to the Corte Madera store. read more

I don't know why I go into this place. Today it was because there is a store close to my house and I thought maybe I could find a button-up shirt to wear under a suit, because let's face it, other than the Granny inspired crap they sell at this place there is the occasional deal on business attire. Well not today, but I was reminded why I truly don't like this store. It's the terrible customer service and it's not isolated to this location. I did get a helpful sales girl at an Ann Taylor Loft once. I was so blown away I told her that she was actually one of the only sales people who had ever even acknowledged me in an Ann Taylor store. Today I walked in, picked out two shirts let myself into the dressing room, tried on the shirts and left and never got so much as a "Go fuck yourself" from the two used up Marina girls running the joint. Until yesterday I would have given this store 4 stars but yesterday I brought in a sweater I bought for $99 late September that I have not worn that many times to show the salesperson that there's a hole in the seam and she said that's over a year old, it's normal wear and tear, and she has not heard of any problems with the sweater. I don't need to spend my money at stores that allow people like her to make decisions and offer zero customer satisfaction. If she took the time she would have known I spend lots of money there and never return things. I will take my business to stores that feel responsibility when a $99 sweater falls apart in less than 4 months with little wear. I hope the manager of the store sees this and gives the clerk some feedback on how to care about customers. read more

Recently shopped there for Christmas gifts and was disappointed. I don't know why I keep shopping there and believing that the customer service will be better the next time. Everyone that works there is unfriendly and rude. I didn't even feel comfortable asking for help in finding a size because of how cold the employees were towards the customers. Not even a "hi" or a glance. I don't know how this store is still around with such a horrible group of employees working there. Go to the Corte Madera Store. They're so much nicer and helpful! I like the clothes at Ann Taylor Loft. If you do too, go to the one in Corte Madera. Everytime I visit the Novato Loft the people working there are so rude. They always seem as if I am bothering them, if they notice me at all! I love the Loft! The clothes are great quality and when you catch a sale, which is most days of the year, you're getting a great deal! Beautiful clothes for work or weekends! So why the three star review? Quite frankly it's the help. I don't know if they get commission or not but I guess they don't. However they can be so rude! One day a nice woman asked me if I needed help with anything. I told her I was going to need a dressing room. She put the two items I had already chosen into my dressing room. I then picked up a few other items and another woman came up to me. I asked her where the other woman was because she had already started helping me. She rudely said "well I'm helping you now". I never saw that other woman again. It's like she was new and they shoved her in the back room because she was doing too well. Another thing to comment on is every time I go in there, the staff is different. It's like they don't stay very long or something. I have no idea why not. I don't care but every person is replaced by someone even more rude. They also don't care if there's a line. They work so slowly. I only go in when I have a lot of time and I am not already in a bad mood! read more

The Novato location looks like a smaller than average size ATL. They have decent ad campaigns but the designs are a bit too conservative for me. I prefer something edgier and less work appropriate. I suppose petites would appreciate the store since they have a petite section. Sweaters are about $40-60 compared to $60-90 for Ann Taylor. read more

I love this store and drop in whenever I can. The service has always been exceptional. I miss having one closer to me (Santa Rosa area) .

Low foot traffic on a Thursday afternoon. Three women working. Nobody acknowledged me in the 30 mins! perousing around the store. Very poor customer service, even in this so called "low" economic time. No initiative to find my available size in a neighboring location. Unprofessional experience in this store today. Finished work early and thought I would treat myself. Walked in and could not see a sales associate anywhere. I could hear a woman speaking in another language behind the counter to two customers. There was another woman in the back of the store who was calling out and greeting folks (not me) as they walked in. I continued down the back of the store and the woman who had been at the counter was now bustling around looking flustered. She pushed past me twice - did not apologize - didn't even ask if she could help me - nothing, nada, zip!!! I am the customer and just as I was thinking about writing this, she pushed past me again - disgusting. She had black jeans, a black hoody, greasy hair and squeaky shoes - not the sales associate attire you would expect to find in this store. C'mon Loft - I have shopped here for over 10+ years - you have competition now with Nordstrom Rack and Banana Republic - look after your customers... they do!! read more

This store sucks ass! The slags that work here have no class or manners. One retail slob held onto my purchase and wouldn't let go of it (I already finished paying for it--so it was now my property) while she condescendingly said to me "I hope you have a better shopping experience next time"-- I wanted to slap her. If she wanted to apologize for having me wait 15 minutes while she figured out the price of my item (even though it was clearly marked), snapped at me for asking why the credit card slide machine wasn't showing my signature on the LCD and generally treated me with the same disdain as an adolescent teenage bitch from the movie Mean Girls--then YES, I do hope I have a better shopping experience next time, only there won't be a next time beause I will never set foot in Ann Taylor Loft again. read more

I agree with many of the other comments. Cute clothes and good deals, although they lack a lot of inventory on sizes. The people who work there are very rude. I shop there a lot and rarely get acknowledged or asked if i need help. They seem annoyed when customers ask them questions. There is one girl who has worked there for a long time who is very rude and often yelling at other employees loudly. The last time i was in there i was so irritated that i put down everything i was going to buy and came home and ordered it all online. The corte madera location is much friendlier. read more

This is for Loft online order. Purchased items online, and changed my mailing address to match my billing address. However items are still shipped to my old address. Called customer service, they said it was my fault even my online account lists my current address as the only and default mailing address. Will have to call my credit card to dispute the charges. Terrible service. Poor quality clothes. What happened to this brand? I bought a dress, followed the the care instructions. It shrunk a whole size or more after one wash. Good thing I didn't put it in the dryer though the instructions said to. The store refused to take it back. Really? The staff person then lied and said she was the manager. It turns out she wasn't.
