What a prefect day to sit outside and enjoy some coffee, fresh pastries, a panini and work. Came here on a Monday at 11am and had a few hours to waste and work. It was just wonderful sunny San Diego around me, got a table outside with an umbrella. Salted caramel latte - divine. Nice flavor with nice coffee American panini - when it was brought out, I was afraid the bread was hard and not enjoyable. I was wrong. The bread is the best part. It's sitting on a small bed of spinach with vinaigrette. Nice combo. Matcha pistachio donut with flower petal crumbles on top. That's one freshly made donut. Very nice and not too sweet. Will definitely come back to just enjoy the day here the next time I'm in town! Very spacious on the patio and sitting area outside. You're definitely 6' apart from the other tables. The coconut haupia for the French toast was a nice touch and the croissant was perfectly flaky, I almost cried lol The pastries they had on display looked good too! Came here during my class break for some coffee and a quick lunch. I ordered the salted Carmel Latte, and ordered a power bowl. The coffee tasted strong and hit the spot. This place seems like a business friendly, there were a lot of groups (looked like they were talking business), nice place to meet with a friend, and cool area to study (but bring your headphones because it gets extremely loud). I do want to note if you do plan on studying here or bringing a computer and make sure that it is charged because it's nearly impossible to find a near by outlet. I used the bathroom, and it was quite clean, and well taken care of. The staff were friendly, fast, and attentive. My table was dirty as I began to sit, but a sweet employee noticed it as she brought my bowl and latte and quickly cleaned it up. Overall, nice place to meet people, but not ideally a place to study if your trying to find a quiet area, especially with all the noise and the fact that there is no access to an outlet. read more

Served me frozen french toast, and when I asked them to refund it so I could leave (I had just had a bite), they had me sit around so they could adjust my receipt to just charge me for the drip coffee. But my recent experience with their gift card was an absolute disaster, and it's left me so furious that I can't recommend this place. I received a Lofty Coffee gift card from a dear friend, a thoughtful gift I was excited to use. I kept it in my wallet for about a year, which shouldn't be an issue for any decently made card. But when I tried to redeem it, the card was so cheaply made that it had deteriorated to the point of being unreadable. The numbers were faded, completely illegible, and the barista informed me the magnetic strip was useless too. Lofty's response? A shrug and a refusal to honor it. This isn't just poor customer service--it's a slap in the face. My friend spent their hard-earned money on this gift, and Lofty's decision to use flimsy, low-quality materials for their gift cards turned that gesture into frustration and wasted money. My money is gone, and I'm left with nothing but a bitter taste that no amount of their admittedly good coffee can wash away. Shame on Lofty Coffee for cutting corners on something as basic as a gift card. If they can't stand behind their own products, why should customers trust them? Avoid their gift cards at all costs unless you want to throw your money--and your friends' thoughtfulness--into the trash. read more

What can I say...I love this place. It's the non official town square of Little Italy. You'll run into everyone in the neighborhood here and for a reason. The coffee and food are both amazing but that's not what makes this place special...it's the people that work there. They make you feel at home. Brooklyn served me today and she always brings a smile to my face. Stressed out as I was while work commitments swirling in my brain i still was able to enjoy my time there thanks to her good vibes. Coffee is coffee to me and as long as the caffeine kicks I'm not too particular about where I get it except for this place tends to draw me in because of the great people that serve it. Super disappointed in writing this review. We came here on a Saturday around 10 AM and ordered a coffee and a matcha. It took 40 minutes for us to get our order. It's $8 for a pourover coffee. And when the matcha came, it was chalky, the matcha wasn't fully whisked in, and extremely watery. Not worth the wait at all. One star for ambiance :D read more

There are a lot of coffee shops in Little Italy but without a doubt, Lofty is my favorite and for reasons more than just the coffee scene. The indoor outdoor ambiance is lovely for the San Diego weather so we always try to sit down when we can. We really enjoy their drip coffee and the breakfast is simply phenomenal. I'm not a huge acai person but this acai bowl was so good I was thinking about it all week and had to come back to get it. My husband got the croissant with sausage and it always was delicious and light and flakey just the way a croissant should be. The tomato jam on it gave a really cool unique taste as well. The BEST coffee shop you'll find in San Diego!!! All of the employees are so kind and helpful. The coffee is excellent and made with love and care. My favorites are the salted caramel latte and a vanilla latte! I am very particular with coffee and this is the best I have found, truly. Everything is made in house and very fresh. The manager, Amy, is incredible and loves the customers almost as much as she loves every dog who comes in. Michelle, Anevay, and Brooklyn are marvelous as well and are so intentional with customers and their craft. Although water is self serve so not sure why the water took over 20 min to be put out. The atmosphere of the place is really awesome because they have a porch type of atmosphere where you can sit and it is shady for resting and clean. Food came out fast looked great, I got the Cedros poached eggs (requested runny when asked) heirloom tomatoes chicken sausage and Avocado. Presentation was beautiful! Unfortunately eggs a bit over done, no biggie I flipped over got yolk so ok, real issue WOW was it over salted! Tried to flip other items but couldn't get much food to eat. It wasn't until 3 hours and 165 miles away when we got home that I realized I left my prescription glasses on the table we were dining at. I called the restaurant and spoke with Amie. I am thoroughly obsessed with this place. The indoor/outdoor atmosphere, the quality of the food and coffee, and the staff make this Little Italy gem the most coveted part of my weekly WFH routine. Amy and Phil are exceptional at what they do and I love having familiar faces every time I show up. If you're wondering what to order; the Turkish latte is my fave hot drink, the Kyoto style cold brew is my fave cold drink, and the ham and cheese croissant is the chef's kiss. The biggest problem here is the line and wait. I can't blame them that they are popular, especially on a Saturday morning. I'll have to try a less busy time. A super cute and hip place to stop by for coffee! I loved the outdoor seating space and the vibe. I got a latte which I really enjoyed. It had a nice strong coffee flavor. I also had the arugula salad, which was pretty good and came with goat cheese and pistachio. Think of it more as a snack though instead of a meal. Keep in mind that parking can be difficult in the little Italy area. There are plenty of meters around, but often difficult to find a spot. Lofty has a very small indoor portion, however it is not truly indoor as it has two open entrances, so make sure to dress warm if it is a cooler day. We started our morning with great food and amazing coffee. The service was great, and the ambiance very pleasant.

I was walking back to my car after the Little Italy Farmer's Market and thought how much I wanted a coffee. My prayers were answered when stumbled across this cute little place! The line was pretty long, but understandable since they are so close to the Farmer's Market. My dog sat with me in line and while I waited for my order. They even gave him a biscuit while I ordered! There are plenty of places to sit. I almost ordered the Macchiato, but thankfully the girl taking my order let me know it was basically the size of 2 espresso shots. It was not a full sized drink. I ordered what she recommended-an iced oat milk latte. It was delicious! Only reason I gave 4 stars is because the latte was almost $7. Not sure if it was worth the price. Will come back if I'm in the area, but probably wouldn't go out of my way for this coffee. read more

This Lofty location is close to where I live so I have been there numerous times. My favorite drink is the iced matcha tea latte with oat milk. There is a slight minty taste to it that is just right and refreshing. For some reason, I really don't like their almond milk or their coffee. I found their almond milk to have a very distinct overly strong & overly creamy taste and it's just not my thing. I have given their coffee a few tries and it's also not for me. As far as the pastries, they are delicious. My favorite is the lemon cookie & their plain croissants are a close second. The almond croissant is great as well. There is covered seating that is partly outdoor and there are always people there working. It has a nice indoor/outdoor ambiance and though the wait can be a bit long when they are busy, I do recommend trying Lofty. A lot of people love it. There are many coffee shops in a small radius but I'm so glad I chose this one. It was easily the best Açaí bowl I have ever had outside Hawaii. Mocha was tasty and if you get it in a mug to drink at the cafe they make it pretty. Very pet friendly place with lots of outdoor seating. The coffee is ok, love the breakfast choices. I just hate their Poached S.L.O.E eggs. There is a strong bad taste to it. It reminds me of Dawn dish soap.
