This place is recommended by all the hotels and is a complete scam. Food was terrible....service was non-existent. We asked for water three times. Our food arrived cold. No butter...some odd kind of "spread" that tastes like Crisco. You can get biscuits and gravy with everything, but don't even think about asking for fruit. I got a "spinach, swiss, and bacon omelet" and it was thin and greasy...it looked like a wet crepe and it was not clear that eggs were a major ingredient. My boyfriend got Eggs Benedict...the sauce must have been made with that funky spread and was a very frightening color. Our waitress was unfriendly and distracted...she brought our food to the wrong table, plopping it down and running away before the folks at that table could alert her to the mistake. They just handed the food over and she never even realized she had delivered to the wrong table. read more

What happened to this place? Service is bad and food is over priced...first time I have ever had burnt pancakes lol it was a family tradition to stop here on our camping trips but I don't know what happened. I recall this place being extremely busy and still receive excellent service and great food. Restaurant wasn't full but still worst experience ever, can't get over burnt pancakes lol. They do get busy but we were there early so we were seated and eating in around ten minutes. The food was good. Biscuit and gravy were really good they make from scratch. Gravy does have a bite to it. Sausage omelet was good, wife had bacon omelet and kids shared chocolate chip pancake. Pancake is singular because they are the size of the plate. Drink was a bottled soft drink and I'm not sure why that matters to some people. Service was quick and very friendly. Only thing that could have made the meal and experience better is if it were free. We will be back. read more

We waited almost 1 hour for food that wasn't even that good. I ordered the chicken fried chicken I do not recommend at all the chicken is very stale and the bun was very hard. When we first got there and we ordered are drink it took 15 minutes at least to get 4 cups of water. I do not recommend coming here I've had a better breakfast at hotels. read more

So if you're on vacation in ruidoso reading restaurant reviews like I did looking for a decent place to take your family for breakfast; do not be fooled by the good (false) reviews for this place like I was. I'm not sure if they pay people or ask locals to post good reviews for them; but this place is not where you want to take your family for breakfast. Let me just start with the spotty silverware. I even used a baby wipe to try to wipe off the spots. Nope, it still dried spotty. You would think they could afford to invest in some new silverware with all the good reviews they're getting. Finally let me say the food did not make up for the silverware. We were served scorched omelettes and gravy made from burnt bacon grease. Please don't take your family here. We also ate at the Cornerstone Bakery while we were there and it was so, so, so much better. read more

Don't come here!! It takes forever to get seated and even longer to get breakfast. We arrived (5adults) at 9 and didn't leave until noon! When my eggs and Hash browns finally came out they were cold. We have eaten at this place in the past and loved the food. We decided to go back and had the WORST experience! First off let me start by saying we had a group of 14 and got seated 9 at one table and the other 6 at another table across the room. We went to have breakfast as a family and expected to be seated together. Second the table of 6 waited almost 20 minutes before they got asked for there drink order. Our waitress was good until the end. We understand giving a tip, but please don't recommend what you think you deserve, especially if the service wasn't great. After we paid out, the waitress decides to complain to another waitress infront of our group of 6 and makes the comment "THOSE MEXICANS DIDN'T TIP". That was very unprofessional and very RUDE! Then the owner decides to get loud with us when I went to confront them on her racial remark. We will never go back and I will make sure to spread the word on how rude and unprofessional they are. read more

Warning, they will try and rip you off. Been coming here on every visit to Ruidoso for 25 years. This was my last visit. The young lady who was the cashier made a blatant attempt to rip us off. We had a foreign exchange student with us whose English is less than perfect. We try at every turn to open his horizons. So when it came time to pay the bill we gave him a $100 bill and had him go to the counter to pay. He came back with $34. $66 breakfast for four people? Over the course of the next 10 minutes I asked to see the menu and we added up the total and it was no where close to that...$38 was the total. At no time during those 10 minutes did the cashier come over to our table. We gathered our belongings and on the way out the cashier and I made eye contact with and she said nothing to me. In fact, she only said something when I stopped and said there was a problem with our bill. Instantly she stated she knew there was a problem and she was working on it, "right now." If she knew there was a problem why didn't she approach us in those 10-15 minutes before we left? She was perfectly willing to let us walk out the door without saying a word. She made the correction and gave us our money. She said the total from the previous customer did not clear the register before she started ringing up ours. Whatever, how many other people has she taken advantage of in the past? A lot of foreigners pass through this place. read more

We went here for breakfast yesterday. The bacon, hashbrowns, and coffee were okay, pretty standard, but the pancakes...my goodness! This place has the best pancakes I've ever had! They were a good size, too. Our waitress was friendly and everything came out in good time. Waiting a little over an hour for our table when we were told we it was going to be a 30 min wait party of 6). Had another party go before us ( again after being told we were next). Food was ok (bland) and took a long time to get. Portion was a little bigger than average and our waitress would forget to refill and bring what we asked for. I probably would not go back. We ate here twice during a recent stay in Ruidoso. Service was great and the food was okay, for the most part. One got eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy and hash browns, the other got the veggie omelet with hash browns. All were good except for the spinach in the omelet. It was very big omelet and had a lot of stuff in it, but big leaves of spinach with stems was a real turn off. They were all picked out and put on the side of the plate. What makes you think we want to eat those huge, limp leaves and stems? The truth is, most of us do not. The other meal was for lunch. One got a ham sandwich of some kind with fries, the other got the chicken strip dinner with salad and onion rings. The chicken strips were tough with a coating that was not that appealing, but the gravy was good. The onion rings were the standard frozen then fried and were not so good. The salad had a lot of the spinach, romaine and other weedy type things. Most of it was limp and stemy. I asked if it would ever be possible to get iceberg for the lettuce part of the salad and was told no. Here's why you should. It is crunchy, sweet and has great eye and mouth appeal. Why we mostly get the other stuff these days must have to do with costing you less money. Not very good for the customer who would like better stuff in their salad, sandwiches and elsewhere. The ham sandwich was okay. Noticed that when the tables were cleared and the leftovers were scraped into a bin on the bus cart, there was not a plastic bag liner in it. VERY UGLY with food dripping down the sides. It could still do that with a liner, but at least you would know the clean up for the staff would be a whole lot easier and keep things cleaner. Also noticed the pile of spinach leaves on the side of a plate, just like I had to do. read more

Came to visit this fantastic little town of ruidoso New Mexico . After a fantastic weekend on the way out of town we stopped for breakfast. Service was very slow. Our waitress tried her best but seems she had no help. There were other employees that could have filled our water glasses and helped her out. But of course they did not. Management needs to train employees better. While our waitress was busy taking orders for a large party we had to ask the hostess for water and she only filled one glass without asking any of our other party if we wanted more water which we did. I would not suggest this place. Until the hostess is retrained. I do not recommend the food or the staff. Try somewhere else. read more
