This is a decent resturant. Food was better than the average but not exceptional. Portions are substantial ( we ate half of what we were served). Good food if your on the road. The best thing on the menu was the salsa and when we were there, the average age of the customers was 65. read more

The New Mexico Steak sandwich is fantastic, if you like them spicy! Onion rings not so good, chicken fingers are awful. Lots of flies when we were there for lunch, also annoying that the staff was removing things from the table so they could clean for their closing. read more

Service started off a little shaky as we somehow were lost on the seating list, but once we got our waitress things improved quickly. The three of us had everything from pancakes, french toast, and the all meat skillet breakfast. First of all portions were large - if you leave here hungry it's your own fault. One thing I particularly appreciated was the thick and we'll cooked bacon, something that seems to be hard to find these days. The wife had pancakes and were among the better pancakes we've had. The kid had french toast, and while I don't particularly care for French Toast must say it was pretty good. We'll definitely be back read more

The food was good, but I can only give two stars for service. Waitress was frazzled, and two out of four orders were wrong. Our bill for two adults and two young kids (ages 3 and 4) was $60. This place is supposedly known for breakfast. I was disappointed. Gravy was thin and may have been packaged. Mashed potatoes were watery and came from a mix. The eggs were badly under-cooked. If you had breakfast at the Cornerstone Bakery, you'd never rate this a 4 star. It's a nice solid 3, no surprises, nothing fancy. We had pancakes,eggs sausage, biscuits and gravy all ok,coffee was old and burnt. I rate breakfast joints by the coffee, if they can't get that right, the rest usually follows suit. It's more of a nostalgic thing for me because I summered here as a kid. Try it once for old times sake, then go to the Cornerstone. read more

01/29/2017 1100am Was told the wait would be 35 minutes which is ok for a "four star" breakfast joint in Ruidoso. The wait ended up being 50 minutes. There were empty tables the entire time but the crew was to slow to keep up. One bus boy in a red shirt was walking as slow as a zombie and was standing around with two other young males instead of bussing the tables and making more business for their pockets. By the time we finally got our coffee and drinks we were already bugged with the staff. Waitress was not bad but very slow to get to our drink order. My French toast, bacon and sausage was not bad but the look of my friends huevos rancheros was hideous. It had way to much cheese and "chili mix" that tasted like sloppy joe. This is a place I would never recommend going to after that experience... nor should it be rated number one when searching breakfast places in Ruidoso. read more

The only drawback I had was that the waitresses did not use trays and stacked the food on top of each other (our food was under another tables food plates...literally) I really didn't like this, plus I got torn up flattened pancakes... but they were still delicious! read more

I have eaten breakfast at Log Cabin about 5 or 6 times. ALWAYS HOT AND DELICIOUS. Perfectly cooked and the servers are amazing - a show in itself. You'll love it. I think this place has the best breakfast I have ever had in a restaurant. I've always gone with a group, so getting seated has taken a bit (it's busy, always). I wish I did not live three hours away from it! I go to Ruidoso a few times a year and this is where I stop. The servers are sweet, though it can take a while for large orders like ours- and considering the place is completely packed in the morning. You will have to wait for a seat. It's worth it. You will leave full and happy. Great coffee. The omelettes are gigantic. I think I can get through about 1/4 of them. You can pick your sides, but I go with sliced tomatoes (nice and fresh) and toast. Otherwise, I would not be able to get through an 1/8 of the food. Their Sun Dried Tomato omelette will always be in my mind as delicious. I would happily drive three hours for it again. The Ham and Cheese is also great. The chicken fried steak is pretty yummy. It's cooked well and the gravy is nicely peppery (as it should be). Good burritos. The hash browns are great. The pancakes are fluffy. The portions are huge and low priced. The art on the walls is local and for sale. The atmosphere is homey. This place is just plain good. read more

The restaurant is an actual log cabin,very quaint and cozy feeling. We ordered the pumpkin pancakes, they actually came with pecans and whipped cream but it looked so delish we dived in forgetting to take a nice pic. So our friends joined us later and we took a pic of theirs, w/o the pecans and whipped cream. They were fantastic! Nice and soft on inside but crispy edges. Delicate pumpkin flavor and with the pecans and whipped cream we didn't really need syrup! Bacon was nice and crispy too. Definitely worth a wait if there is one. read more

EXCELLENT waitstaff! There was a wait which was supposed to be 25 minutes and it was definitely worth it. They worked and got everyone in and seated. The food was just as great! Crispy hash browns and bacon. Fresh pancakes (personally got blueberry and it was a thick cake with amazing tasting blueberries). Definitely recommend this as a your breakfast stop. read more

Typical southern breakfast food with fast and friendly service. A decent spot for breakfast or brunch. The only down side is that they don't serve alcohol. The biscuits and gravy are highly recommended, the grits less so. read more
