The front entry of this place is absolutely filthy . We almost turned around and left, as first impressions are usually right . Food was average, and our waiter and kitchen staff were the only ones working . The rest were basically walking around and acting busy, but never doing anything . The cashier and bus boy were worthless and stood around joking while trash cans inside were overflowing, and the floors had trash on them . A total reflection of lazy unsupervised staff . We have been coming here for close to 15 years whenever we come to Ruidoso. We have never had a bad meal. The staff is very attentive. They are always busy when we are here because there is a rally in town. We had two meals here this trip. We had our first ever lunch here and it was amazing. We had the French dip with the green chilies and sweet potato fries. Both were perfect. We had breakfast this morning, a shrimp Benedict and a Hollandaise omelet. Both were well made, huge portions and tasty. I read some of the poor reviews of this place and don't understand it as we've never been disappointed. read more

My husband got the steak and eggs (he's very particular about his steak) and he said it was amazing and perfectly cooked! I got the denver omelette and it was delicious. Log Cabin consistently delivers good food with good service in a good surrounding. I loved their outdoor setting - they put more effort than most restaurants. And the service was great. We ordered the stuffed french toast and a entree salad to split. The salad was surprisingly good - fresh spring greens, delicious homemade ranch dressing, big portion. Of course, the stuffed french toast was delish! There was a lot of fruit on it, which was nice. The biscuits and gravy were okay - the gravy was a bit bland and the biscuits were dry. Don't know what to say about the hatch chili cheese omelet. Gringo that I am, I assumed it would be some minced chili in a cheese omelet. Oh no. The kitchen treated the hatch chili with the respect it deserved. It was lightly sauted, cut in long strips, and put in the filling with the cheese. If you have experience with spicy food it is probably heaven, but I couldn't finish it. read more

Best breakfast in town, hands down. The pancakes are melt in your mouth delicious-light and fluffy. The sausage -delicious. The Gravy was good and served with a FAT biscuit. Service was great and the food was exactly what you crave and used to expect from a country restaurant. Fluffy biscuits and gravy, perfectly scrambled eggs with diced ham, the grits I had were perfect. The hashbrowns my companion had were crispy on top and well cooked underneath. Our other companion said his pancakes were to die for. Our waiter was attentive and brought everything to the table to accompany the meal that we could have needed before we could have anticipated needing it. read more

Loved the Log Cabin for breakfast! So much that I ate my food before I could get a pic! This was recommended by our AirBnB host in Ruidoso and it did not disappoint. We had the French Toast with bacon and egg and the Skillet with meat (bacon, sausage, and ham), everything perfectly cooked and not overly heavy like some breakfasts, the biscuits are the fluffiest. I would skip this place altogether. Bacon & Eggs were okay. "Belgium" Waffle was like what you make yourself at a hotel lobby. It was over cooked (tasted like an old griddle) which I mentioned to both the waitress and the clerk. Service was quick and the food plentiful. The cheese and green chili omlette was tasty and filling; the biscuit was oh so fluffy and tender. The grits were really fluffy, too. There was no real butter, just some margarine-type substitute that did nothing to enhance the grits or biscuit. The "gravy" was a disappointment, too. I have always heard raves about Log Cabin, and I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 2 because they tried in these conditions of understaffing, etc. It's pretty basic, I have to admit. My eggs Benedict was just passable. Not horrible, but not great. The hollandaise was meh. I had a hard time cutting the English muffins which was annoying. My eggs were way beyond poached. They looked like little flat discs of hard boiled eggs. It was made with regular slabs of ham and not Canadian bacon. My side of regular bacon was ok. Crispy. Good. I didn't eat the ham with my meal. All of my companions meals looked just ok. Not great and not horrible. The food has absolutely no flair. Pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon...the basics. That's it. Even the coffee was kind of flavorless, cold and boring. Basic. Super basic. I guess that's what people want in a breakfast. I was extremely disappointed because I know how popular this place is with everyone. I didn't hear any of my friends rave about their meal, but for basic sustenance... it was passable. We stopped by on our way out of town. There was a 10-15min wait on a Friday morning. We enjoyed a variety of items including pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, ham, and eggs. Ate breakfast at this cozy restaurant. Food was delicious plus all the employees are wearing their face masks and there is also social distancing between tables. I came with my family for a party of 12 but unfortunately because of COVID we had to be seated at 3 different tables. Which I understand, not their fault! Our waitress was quick to attend to us and made no mistakes when ordering our plates. I wish I got her name but she was very nice! Ugh why did I get talked into this. After 1 hr wait for a seat and an hour wait for food, after ordering it, I about gave up. When it came it was ice cold. Yea they were busy. Why? I have no idea. Easy visibility. Close to main town? I got talked into this and I haven't been here in years and I live nearly across the street 4 months of the year. Where do I go? Alto for a better breakfast for 1/3 cheaper. I am so sorry Log Cabin, 20 years ago you were the place to go. But we spent a week or two every couple of years and it's pretty. But now that we have a home and got to know where the locals go we know it's not the place to go. For those who say locals eat here....no. No they do not. I've eaten here 20- times in 20 years but none In a good 5-6 years. It's just poorly managed and the cooks don't seem to care. Years ago it was sooo much better. read more
