Much better the second time. Not sure what happened the first time.... but this time definitely made up for it. Like I said, the place looks very promising. The setting, the ambiance. Just my kind of place. It gets pretty busy at times. Workers so far aren't as friendly as I expect at a local breakfast joint... mostly because they are too busy. I don't care so much as long as the food is good. This time tried the lox, mascarpone, and french baguette. Fantastic, especially the house cured salmon. The mascarpone was nice and light. The baguette was not too soft or too hard. Simple deconstructed yet well executed lox breakfast sandwich. My wife had the egg & avo smash sandwich. Also excellent. Nicely baked egg with smashed avocado and melting cheese. Great flavors. Tired the sage and gruyere croissant. It was good but not as good as the other food items. This is what I had been hoping for. Definitely by far the best breakfast in Ladera that I've tried so far. Like I said, not sure what happened the first time but I'm glad I gave it a second chance. read more

I'm obsessed with their coffee!!! Their food is very healthy and tasty but the menu never changes which could be a bummer if you are a regular. It's nice to have a coffee shop in the neighborhood. My only wish would be for their service to be a little faster but atleast it's good to know they are busy. read more

Friendly greeting by Matthew the owner. Cute decor & casual indoor/outdoor seating. I ordered the 'Italian Tuna Salad' sandwich on their whole grain toasted bread. The flavors of the tuna came together quite nicely & I've never tasted anything this original before. My husband ordered what is called 'The Suzy's Iceland Breakfast' on French Artisan bread. This is egg salad with a twist. Includes Lox, capers, lettuce & marscapone cheese. Both sandwiches knocked it out of the park! Presentation was great & sandwiches were brought out to our table on wooden boards verses typical plates. Nice! * Note: Kitchen closes down at 2PM & not 5PM as noted on Yelp. Came on a weekday morning for breakfast so it was not busy. Came in for the French Toast Soufflé and ended up enjoying the Egg and Bacon Sandwich much more. The top part of the French Toast Soufflé was great, but the bottom felt like a mushy mess that lacked flavor. The brioche bun for the egg and bacon sandwich was really good - flavorful and soft. Coffee was okay but annoying when you pay $30 for breakfast for 2 people plus $2.50 for each coffee and then for every refill you must pay an additional $0.50. Might be back to try more savory items but not overly impressed. read more

We came in this week for a biz lunch and were WOWED! As a gluten-free vegetarian, I usually have to cobble something together at biz lunches...not at Lola's!!! There were no many options for me here. I absolutely love this place and the vibes it exudes. My boyfriend and I have been coming here ever since it opened a while back (when we were in the early stages of dating). I have been trying to get him to eat healthier and to try out new vegan foods and I can say that this place was the one place that made him appreciate what you can do with healthy and vegan foods! All of the ingredients here are fresh and I used to come so often when I lived nearby that the owner started recognizing me! I have brought so many of my friends here and they have brought so many of their friends here because this is THE spot in Ladera. They used to have this AMAZING berry ricotta flatbread that they unfortunately do not have anymore, but I still love all of their amazing grilled cheeses and their turkey sandwiches and the vegan wrap. My boyfriend is obsessed with their baguette and lox and do not even get me started on the best cookie I have ever had in my life there! I dont even know what the cookie is named... but it has caramelized rice krispies, chocolate chips and marshmallows. Whenever I come here I always get the cold brew green tea (the notes of the tea here are amazing), a cookie, and a sandwich or wrap and I have got myself a complete and amazing meal! read more

I really enjoyed this adorable homey-type-feel cafe. I came here for the first time for a first date. It was lovely out so we decided to sit in the patio. We ordered at the front counter where they had everything you need, including a case of what looked to be very delicious desserts, pastries, & snacks. My date & I both ordered the avocado toast- he added a few eggs, which were baked in a ramekin & looked pretty good. I also got a lavender latte with almond milk. Everything was delicious, & portioned just perfect! The toast was pretty filling. I will be ordering both again, but can't wait to try more on the menu. The owner came up to check on us & chat a couple times, which I quite enjoyed because he was incredibly nice. I enjoyed the atmosphere, the hospitality, & most importantly the meal. read more

My friend and I were looking for a cute and affordable cafe and stumbled upon this adorable place today. I ordered the Lola's house salad, mushroom soup, and Rose Cardamom latte. All were fresh and delicious! My friend enjoyed her sandwich and tomato soup as well. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. I met the owner and he was very friendly and passionate about the cafe. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for good food and friendly service. read more

When ever I walk into Lola's, I am excited because just about everything is consistently good. The breakfast burritos and egg smash sandwiches are both delicious and have a really good flavor profile. The Tuscan chicken sandwich has chicken, mozzarella, and tomatoes. All of that making a really good flavor combo to make your taste buds happy. But the reason why this is four stars and only four stars is because of two things. 1. If you are looking for a quick meal-don't head to Lola's. It is usually crowded no matter what time you go there. Be prepared to wait for your yummy food to come out. 2. I noticed on the last latte I ordered that they charge $0.75 per pump of vanilla. I understand they use the finest ingredients, but aren't we already paying a premium in their prices? This seems ridiculously high. But I'm still a huge Lola's fan! read more

Ordered breakfast burritos and coffee. Coffee came promptly, burritos did not arrive at all. After nearly thirty minutes passed we went in to enquire, and it became clear they had never made them. Then, after they promised to expedite making them (which took another ten minutes), THEY TRIED TO CHARGE US AGAIN. Had to show the receipt, after telling them our name and items and that we'd already paid.. it's like the order just vanished into thin air and they did not even care that they had lost it. Yes, it was just as bad as that. They never apologized, they never explained, they never attempted amends. incompetence with a touch of evil. We won't be returning. When I first walked in this place looked like an original cafe. I ordered a BBQ flatbread pizza. The pizza tasted amazing, however the drink situation was different. First of all, if you order an Iced Tea, you cannot get a refill. Also, the water dispensing system is a sink that is tap water. I recommend trying this place for a nice cafe feel. read more

I'd call this place a hidden gem, but given how busy it gets, I suppose it's not really "hidden". I've tried several different sandwiches from their breakfast varieties to their lunch options, and all have been really good. My fav is the smashed avo with bacon and egg for breakfast and the pesto chicken for lunch. Their latte and mocha drinks are delish and I'm in love with their variety of pastries. The selection changes on a daily basis, but if you ever see their coconut cheesecake, I would highly recommend grabbing a slice. When the place is packed, it could take a while for the food to come out, so I would recommend coming before the lunch rush on weekdays (before 11:30am). They're typically pretty packed around brunch time on the weekends as well, so be prepared. read more

The service is amazing and they are pretty fast and attentive to you, and the open farm table seating create a fun family environment. There have been times I've eaten here and the wait was too long, or the food came out cold. I decided to give it another chance (hopefully not regrettably) and ate in. The Host today (Giselle) was SPECTACULAR. She was attentive to my needs, offered to get me a glass of water, and was constantly checking on my order. Is she a manager here? She should be! This is a real gem we found tucked away in Ladera Ranch. I will say that I won't be going anywhere else for coffee anyone. They have Stumptown cold brew here! Food here is also very good, however could be on the pricy end(totally worth it). I have tried the avocado toast and Luis Grilled Cheese. The presentation are nice and they tastes amazing. This is a very relaxing place to relax weekend morning. I'm lucky enough to work from home sometimes, so I will definitely be hanging around here. Ladera is finally having some good places to compete with LA. I hope this place will do well! read more

Wonderful! Healthy, homemade and delicious. I was honored to be treated like royalty by the owner. Knowing it was my first visit he was attentive, friendly and helpful. The food here used to be good - we used to come all the time pre-pandemic - and thought we'd come support after a local appointment. They've done a good job with safety but they are unbelievably slow and completely overpriced for the food. We ordered 3 items and then proceed to wait for at least 25 minutes watching the employees chat and move at a snails pace. Not a place to drop in and order, they didn't even acknowledge the wait time. When we got home we opened the food and see sandwiches sized for toddlers. We paid over $50 for this (with tip)?!?!?
