Of all the times I've been here, it's alway been great. The service was amazing and the experience was all great. This visit, we stopped by during happy hour. It's normally taco Tuesday or dinner. It wasn't busy when we arrived. Mainly everyone was seated outside which we wanted a table as well. There was one that we were interested in and asked if we could have it which the waitress working was ok with. But it needed clearing up. It took a while for someone to come out and clear and clean the table up. It was fine waiting but it was like did someone forget about us. Anyways. We got seated and then the waiting continued. It could be that they were short staff but it seemed like there was only one person working. It took a while for someone to finally come back and acknowledge us and take our order. After that the chips and salsa were brought out. Once we ordered the drinks it was easier to place everything together. Menu for happy hour is pretty limited. A few drinks and beer on drafts and for food, maybe 6 items on the menu. Went with an order of the street corn which was quite tasty. An order of the mole chicken nachos and the queso dip with barria. Out of the three, the queso dips and the street corn were great. Nachos were good but nothing really major. The flavors of everything were quite tasty. Dishes were 12.00 an item. For happy hour, it was decent and what we had was good. The service was pretty slow at the beginning. Only the front patio and inside seating was available as the back patio wasn't open. We did start to see other staff walking in so maybe there was only one staff during the time. read more

Not impressed by anything we ordered, given the competition locally. I will drive to Acton, CA (124 miles round trip) for their chicken tortilla soup ... bringing back 3 quarts of it after our meal is done. The soup here lacks the tastebud awakening zip that Don Chato's has. The ono fish taco experience was my fault... I hate fried fish taco, so I had lofty expectations, but due to the fact that I do not prefer corn tortillas, guacamole or raw onions, led to much disappointment since It has all three. Totally my fault. The butternut enchilada was lacking in the expected savoriness... this is being polite. The potato taquito was okay... but I am not a taquito person, so if you are I would seriously encourage you to try it. The star of the table was the Mexican corn. It may not compete with Cornman in Lincoln Heights, but it was decent. I scraped off the onions and toppings on the ono tacos, put the fish on the flour tortillas that another person didn't want, and topped the fish with refried beans, street corn and a but if the chicken tortilla soup broth to make due. When you are driving more than 30 minutes for this experience, I think you would agree that it was less that a proper way to celebrate a birthday. Oh and if there isn't any street parking. It'll cost you about 9 bucks in the lot. I didn't use the restroom, so I cant review its cleanliness. Our waitress was flawless taking orders and delivering food The restaurant itself has a great layout and an outdoor courtyard complete with propane heaters and umbrellas - I loved that... but my favorite part was out front, no not the seating area in the former parking spaces, nope... it was the collapsed woman on the sidewalk, walking her dog with snot running out of her nose because she was huffing some aerosol can of whatever. We originally had plans to eat at Ammatoli, but they had an unexpected emergency closure due to a plumbing issue bummer at first, but it worked out for the best because we had an amazing meal at Lola's. Here's what we ordered: Special of the Day: Pork Shank with Green Mole Sauce - My bf ordered this and really enjoyed it. The plate was HUGE. If you're considering this, just know it can easily be shared by 2-3 people. Mexico City Street Corn - Shared by the table and it was just okay. Salmon Tacos - Light, flavorful, and nicely balanced. A great option if you're in the mood for something a little lighter but still satisfying. Mango Avocado Salad with Grilled Shrimp - My order and it was fantastic. So much flavor, perfectly balanced ,10/10 and an easy favorite. Cochinita Pibil - My gf's go-to order. Regular & Mango Margaritas - Both were tasty and well made. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and I can see how this place could easily get packed, especially during HH. Authentic Mexican cuisine in the beautiful city of Long Beach. Came in on a Saturday evening and it was busy but we were seated after 15 minutes. Friendly staff and casual decorations. Smaller restaurant with two patios. We opted for booth seating. My kids shared enchiladas and a cheese quesadilla. No complaints. For starters we had to have their cuetes and a side of guacamole.Fresh avocados made for a delicious guacamole.The cuetes consisted of Jalapenos filled with sour cream and cheese wrapped in bacon. Super yummy and not too spicy. Also shared chile verde and a taco trio. The chile verde meat was a little undercooked but the flavors were good and authentic. The best taco from trio was hands down the carnitas. Well cooked with a hint of coke. Also had a michelada which I think has too much mix. I couldn't taste the beer. But their house margaritas are solid. You can taste the real agave tequila with just the perfect blend of flavors. We left happy and content. read more

I visited Lola's on July 7th for the first time for a late lunch. I ordered the following (prices as of July 2025): Large Baja Salad ($14.95) + Grilled Chicken (+$4) - Surprisingly very tasty. I enjoyed my Baja salad and definitely recommend adding grilled chicken for extra protein. It comes with crispy romaine lettuce, black beans, avocado, pico de gallo, queso cotija, toasted heirloom corn, tortilla chips, and pepita like dressing. All the ingredients tasted flesh and complemented each other. It wasn't too salty but had just the right amount of flavor. Very delicious and I would recommend this. Jarritos Guava Soda ($14.75) - I enjoy drinking jarritos! I've tried other flavors but this was my first time trying the guava flavor. It didn't disappoint but the guava flavor is on the lighter side. Interior: This is a cute Mexican restaurant that is nicely decorated with tables inside. Customer Service: A sad miss. Our waitress was really nice and had some good recs when we ordered. However, although we came at an off time and there wasn't many patrons, it took some time to get everything from taking our orders, receiving our meals, getting the check, getting the boxes, etc. We had to flag them down several times and they were not that attentive. Parking: The shop is located right next to a paid lot next door. Fortunately, there was one spot left when we arrived! All in all, I wouldn't mind coming back to try out more food. Cute dine-in Mexican spot off of 4th Street, quick service and has a full menu of all the greatest hits - tacos, burritos, enchiladas and their signature moles. We weren't super hungry when we came in for lunch so ordered a shared plate of handmade taquitos and one of their holiday specials, the tamale platter. Food came out quickly so the taquitos were still nice and crispy, which I prefer before they inevitably get soggy and smothered with sauce. The tamales were okay, but I am coming to the realization that maybe I just don't Iike the maize flavor of tamales. What I will definitely come back for is their robust menu of agave cocktails - they make their own syrup in house, and every flavor sounds delicious. I ordered their more popular Guava Margarita with mezcal instead of tequila, and it's one of the better drinks I've had in a long time. Nice to have Lola's delivered via Uber Eats. We rarely do delivery (except pizza) so this was a real treat. I must say I was surprised to have it arrive piping hot. Quality vs dining in very similar. Nice surprise! It also arrived quickly. Compliments for both Lola's (packaging) and Uber Eats! Chips and the Green Crack, excellent as always! Tried to go get some chorizo in San Pedro but the location is closed on Mondays. Tarted to head home and decided to stop at Lola's for lunch. It was margarita Monday so hubby ordered that, only $5! He chose the Birria Guadalajara with flour tortillas. Whole garlicky beans and Mexican rice. I had the Chili Verde with flour tortillas, refried beans, and buttery white rice. Stumbled upon this place while I was in Pasadena this weekend and fell in love! The ambiance and the staff were great!! I seemed like they were short staffed but even so the service was still good. I got chilaquiles and a spiked coffee drink and loved everything. The green salsa they give out with the chips is what really made my meal here. I even added some to my chilaquiles. Visited Lola's last night for taco Tuesday to try out their tacos. First came the chips and salsa, the roasted pepper salsa was pretty spicy but their green creamy salsa was really good. We got the carne asada, chicken, veggie (squash/calabacitas), birria and carnitas. The carne asada and chicken were good, the veggie was also yummy and flavorful. Between birria and carnitas, the carnitas was juicy and flavorful and the birria which was more just the meat without cooking it birria style was super dry (almost no sauce and no consommé either). We were also gonna order the mole to share as it won awards but we were so full so next time. Staff are nice, there is seating outside in the patio out back, inside tables and also in front outside. They are dog friendly outside. Re: parking here - limited parking on 4th street but there is a lot just next door but beware it's like $4.20 an hour read more

We spent a lot of time searching yelp for a place to have dinner after a day at the convention center, and we finally decided on Lola's. I'm so glad we did! We arrived around 6. It was Saturday night, and they were busy but not crowded. Seating was available immediately on the front and back patios, but it was hot and we decided to wait for an indoor table, which took about 10 minutes. Our server was Kevin, and he was super nice, very friendly and helpful, even clarifying a menu option for my friend that helped her decide what to eat. Everything we had was so delicious. The avocado crema or whatever it is they bring with the chips and salsa was a sign of good things to come! I want that on everything I eat forever. My friend and I shared a plate of the bean and cheese chimis to start, and while they were very good, I kind of wish we hadn't so that I could've finished my entree. I had the al pastor mulitas, and every bite was a wonderful mix of flavors amd textures. My friend had the El Trio taco plate and she enjoyed everything she ate as well. I had the Peach Ring margarita - a special - which tasted exactly like a gummy peach ring candy, and was served with one as a garnish! My friend had the other margarita special, a blood orange one, which was also very good. Both unique and delicious. We don't often do repeat restaurant visits because there's always so many places we want to try, but I think we'll definitely be back to Lola's when we're back in Long Beach. read more

The Chile Relleno was another standout -- light, perfectly battered, and well-balanced with the sauce and sides. Lola's is a great little Mexican cuisine spot with great vibes. I was introduced to this spot by my cousin. We met up for some drinks and early dinner. We came in on a Monday and they had delicious $5 margaritas that were made just to my liking. The table side salsa and chips were really good and I like that their salsa was actually spicy. I also tried their burrito which was pretty good but their food are a little on the pricey side for Mexican. However we were pretty happy with our food. The staff is very nice and attentive. Was in town for the weekend and we were recommended this spot. We had reservations right when they opened (so it was not busy) and sat outside on the street side, it was quiet, but just fine for us. I was absolutely amazed the service was so friendly, and our waitress was incredibly accommodating. We were pretty hungover, and she had so much patience with us, which we really appreciated. The salsas were amazing! I couldn't stop eating the chips and salsa. I even bought 1 16oz salsa to go! I also had a virgin michelada, and it was sooo delicious. For my main, I ordered the shrimp burrito and added steak. My only small critique is that I wish the chipotle sauce came inside the burrito instead of on top it got a bit messy or at least served on the side. I also tried a bite of my friend's chilaquiles, which were really good. And for dessert, the guava French toast was to die for! The horchata whipped cream on top was absolutely delicious. We chose inside. Hot fresh chips and salsa. Loved that green sauce, whatever it is. I couldn't decide on what to eat, vacillating between taquitos, Sopes, fish tacos or butternut squash enchiladas. I've been coming here since it opened on and off for years and it's been exceptionally delicious every time. The staff has always been extremely gracious, calm cool and collected. Their "famous green crack salsa" is complimentary with chips when you arrive and is so addicting! It's a lighter green and very mild, a 3-4 on a scale of 1 to 10. Today I stopped in for a to-go order and got the Bixby Knolls burrito: "Blair Cohn's creation of grilled chicken, Mexican rice, refried beans, melted jack cheese, toasted on the griddle," and it's not only delicious but huge. My to-go order came with a generous serving of their ALSO famous house chips - always crispy and crunchy - I've never had a "stale" batch. Such a cute outdoor patio area, perfect if you have a dog. Inside is also beautifully decorated with bright colors and a remodeled, sleek look but also very "at home" casita vibe with large framed photographs on the wall. First time at Lola's last night and I wonder why it took me so long to get here! My friend and I got tix to a movie at the Art Theater and arrived early. So we decided to grab a bite before the show. We've been to other places on 4th street, but not Lola's, so we thought , why not give it a try. The restaurant is lovely and open. Nice patio on the outside but we sat inside in a back booth. Right off we were greeted with nicest server. Took us a while to decide but we finally settled on a chile Verde burrito and tortilla soup. The soup was untraditional red-based soup. Not what we were expecting but very tasty. But!! The star of the show was the burrito. Hands down best CV burrito I've had in the city. I remarked to our server how good it was , and she said, she's not a regular pork eater , but she agrees that's an excellent burrito. We finished our food but hanged around a little longer until it was time for the movie, when another server came up to make sure we were okay, and we began chatting about the theater and the movie Pink Flamingos. Such a sweetheart. I don't know if this is a great place to work, but with personalities like these, it just has to be. Great night all around, and the movie was pretty good too. Went to this restaurant on a whim and it turned out a good choice. I was in the area and wanted to get a bite to eat. Got seated right away, and chips and salsa were served. The green avocado salsa is nice and creamy really enjoyed. Order a margarita and jamaica both were good and refreshing. Our server Ike N. was attentive and kept refilling our drinks. Ordered the esquite as appetizer it was cheesy and creamy definitely a hit. Main dish ordered the Mole Poblano with rice and beans and flour tortillas and the Cheso Birria Tacos. The mole was nice and tasteful. Chicken was nice and tender. The birria tacos where good accompanied with consome. I would definitely recommend and go again.
