Came to eat here with a friend and we came in their last hour before they closed. The restaurant was very cute and had plenty of seating. I got a mazapán iced coffee and that was pretty good. The burrito was good but I think I'd want to try something different next time. The prices were decent and there is only street parking.

Came here on Sunday around 9am. Street parking. One restroom. Ordered the agua de Jamaica it was good a bit on the tangy side. The horchata iced latte with oat milk. It was ok. The burrito of chorizo was big and good. The service was friendly and attentive. All in all would come again to try other items.

Not for me but my partner enjoyed it. You order at the counter with plenty of places to sit inside. Parking is tricky in the area. The food came out pretty fast considering it was packed. Red chorizo burrito -- my partner really enjoyed this and would go back for it Red chorizo taco -- pure grease dripping out of the taco. Had a slightly bitter taste to it Green chorizo (chicken) taco -- I didn't finish this. I did not enjoy the texture it was all mush. Salsas we tried did have good flavor. Specifically the green salsa. Strawberry matcha was not very strong but had good flavor for a drink as a whole.

Tried this spot while doing laundry next door with my partner and we decided to split two of the El Ranchero burritos -- the red pork chorizo and the green chicken chorizo. The ingredients sounded amazing: eggs, potatoes, Mexican cheese, guacamole, and sour cream. Flavor-wise, both burritos actually tasted really good and the salsas were delicious too. Unfortunately, the texture kind of ruined it for us. Both burritos had the exact same very mushy texture, and after a few bites we were both over it. There were supposed to be potatoes inside, but it barely seemed like there were any. Crispy potatoes would've made a huge difference and added some texture. At $21 each, we just didn't feel like the burritos were worth the price. The real highlight of our visit was the drinks -- we got the horchata and pepino agua fresca, and both were SO good. Definitely our favorite part of the meal. Burritos: 2/5 Agua frescas: 5/5

    Green Chile Chicken Breakfast Burrito

Masa y Taza is popping off in the LBC, and they're doing breakfast burritos right. We came in on a Sunday morning and waited about 25 minutes to place our order. Once we did, the food came out relatively quick. Next time I would call in my order for pickup. I went with the green chile chicken breakfast burrito. I really loved the combination of ingredients, the amount of cheese, and the fresh and chewy tortilla. You get your choice of two salsas with your order, and you don't want to miss the salsa verde. We love a salsa selection. As a non-coffee drinker I would have loved to see some tea options. How tasty would a horchata chai be?! I went with the pepino agua fresca which was nice and refreshing.

This is such a wonderful new spot to grace the food scene of Long Beach. Masa Y Taza is a wonderful breakfast spot with something for everybody, and  I can't wait to tell you about it! Masa Y Taza is a fast casual breakfast cafe, where you order at the counter and food is brought out to your number. They have a wide variety of goods, from coffees, agua frescas, pastries, and some of the best breakfast burritos in the area. Let's start with your drinks. I got the horchata latte, which was perfect. The horchata was creamy, spicy, and sweet enough to balance the espresso. I do think this one is better than the one at Tierra Mia because it is less gritty. The breakfast burrito was so good! I got the Ranchero burrito with green chorizo. The chorizo is sooooo flavorful. It's chicken, but it is not dry at all. The Ranchero burrito is an upgraded option with the inclusion of sour cream and guacamole, but I actually don't think it's necessary at all. I would get their classic burrito so that you can see the proteins really shine. The eggs inside are fluffy and the beans are very flavorful. Each burrito also comes with 2 free sides of sauce, and there are like 8 to choose from. From what I've tasted, you can't go wrong. I personally loved the chipotle crema and the pickled onions, but that salsa macha is also bombbbbbb.  You CANNOT SKIP the FRENCH TOAST! I mean, why does this spot have some of the best french toast I've ever had? The bread is soaked in a delicious custard, and toasted until it's crispy on the outside, gooey in the middle, and somehow still so fluffy. Paired with the housemade caramel/cajeta, it's a breakfast bite made in heaven. I feel so lucky to have found this gem to add into my location for breakfast options in Long Beach. Try it, and you won't regret it. It's really unlike any other breakfast burrito options in the area. Go support!!!!

A Long Beach gem. It's a great spot for breakfast, brunch or lunch with amazing options for caffeine and food. The mazapán banana latte is creamy and sweet and a great way to top off any day. And the real stars of the show are the breakfast burritos and with their salsa verde. The el clásico breakfast burrito is quite honestly one of the best if not the best breakfast burritos we've ever had. There is good texture balance with egg and crispy potatoes, the homemade tortillas you cannot beat and I would happily drown in their salsa verde. It's perfection. Happy to have this spot in the LBC.

My partner put this spot up for breakfast this morning. It has been wildly popular, but we showed up early to beat the rush. Parking can be a challenge on Fourth Street, but sometimes (especially in the morning) you can get lucky. Just don't park behind the restaurant in the lot next to the laundry. Some signs make that pretty clear. When you walk in, it's a very nice place with plenty of table seating and a small menu to make great choices. We decided to split a El Classico breakfast burrito with bacon, eggs, potatoes, cheese all in a homemade flour burrito tortilla. She had a cup of Cafe de Olla, and it was a perfect natural. No need for cream or sugar, bringing her thoughts of home with her mother. We also shared the churro french toast that was stuffed with custard and came with gooey chocolate dip. It took be back to Spain by how good they were. We enjoyed the tortillas de Mantequilla, and again the homemade flour tortillas were amazing, sending me back to times as a kid. These were better than my grandmother's. The service was great overall, these guys do well behind the counter, and in the kitchen. We will definitely come back to try their breakfast tacos.

Amazing food everything is made from scratch the service is exceptional very family oriented and you could tell they take pride in what they do and who they serve. Strongly recommend coming here with family or even a solo trip the environment caters to all

Mexican mocha. It's also smokey I have to find better words to describe it. Very pleased

This is so good! Smokey chorizo I can't explain it you have to try it. I'm so glad it's distinctly different from other grab and go burritos!!!! Fresh tortilla like a warm hug! I got the chipotle crema salsa. I feel like everything is hand made and very well made. The guy behind the counter gave very good recommendations. We had dessert on top of the food we have. From food to drinks! There so much love and pride from the staff making it I'm so proud and makes me happy being a local cause of places like this. Will update when I get my dessert!!!! Ughhhh I know I will miss it once I finish breakfast. Oh and ambiance, modern, minimalist, clean, just the way I like it. Music is so my era lol. It has such a Mexico city vibe. If you want to savor your slow mornings come visit!

Maza y Taza feels less like a café and more like a living room for the neighborhood. I met Chef Gabriel, one of the co-owners, and he's genuinely hands-on -- passing out orders, greeting people, and taking the time to talk. Calling us "customers" doesn't really fit; it's clearly a community he's building, and as someone who lives just steps away, it feels good to be part of that. I ordered the Burrito El Clásico ($15) with bacon -- handmade Chihuahua-style flour tortilla that's fluffy with just the right crunch, packed with eggs, potatoes, and a Mexican cheese blend. Simple, comforting, and executed perfectly. Paired it with their Iced Mocha Mexicano with oat milk, a rich espresso blended with Mexican table chocolate and traditional spices -- bold, aromatic, and smooth without being overly sweet. This is the kind of place you don't just visit -- you show up for it.

    Cafe de olla
    Teira R.

The cafe de olla is super delicious, I absolutely enjoyed trying this for the first time. It wasn't too sweet or too bitter, it was just right. I did not care for the green salsa chorizo. It looked odd and had no flavor. The tacos were also pricey at $6 for one taco. However I would like to go back for cafe de olla and try the breakfast burrito. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. They make sure you are taken care of and enjoy your visit.

El Chorizo Verde de Pollo (Green Chicken) and the El Clásico breakfast burritos.

Came here with my friend a few months ago after I learned she'd never been and it's in her neighborhood. This place is small with a few tables to dine in, but everything I tried has was great. We walked but they also have a few parking spots on the right side of the building. We got the El Chorizo Verde de Pollo (Green Chicken) and El Clásico breakfast burritos. The El Clásico was our favorite. I also got the Horchata Latte which was great. All the staff were super kind, including the owner who checked on us often and shared a bit about the business. Very kind and caring. I hope folks continue to support this place!

Each of these items were delicious, but I'd return for the ceviche and chilaquiles. The ceviche was a delicious mix of sweet and salty. Their tortilla chips are made fresh in-house and paired perfectly with the fresh cut fish. I was also impressed by their cocktails. With family in town, we visited a number of fan-favorite restaurants across the coastline. Panxa stole the show for best mixed drink: the watermelon margarita. I stopped by on a Friday afternoon and waited about 20 minutes for a table. The wait was well worth it because each dish offered an explosion of flavors. My favorite dish was the birria, with the salmon ceviche as a close second. The mole was great too, but I'd say the other two dishes were more memorable and something I'd return for. I can't recommend the birria enough, as the flavors were reminiscent of what I've had in Mexico, very authentic. The space is small and can feel a bit tight, but sometimes the best food comes from these types of "hole in the wall" places. Ultimately, I'd say give Lola's a try! The soup here lacks the tastebud awakening zip that Don Chato's has. The ono fish taco experience was my fault... I hate fried fish taco, so I had lofty expectations, but due to the fact that I do not prefer corn tortillas, guacamole or raw onions, led to much disappointment since It has all three. Totally my fault. The butternut enchilada was lacking in the expected savoriness... this is being polite. The potato taquito was okay... but I am not a taquito person, so if you are I would seriously encourage you to try it. The star of the table was the Mexican corn. It may not compete with Cornman in Lincoln Heights, but it was decent. When you are driving more than 30 minutes for this experience, I think you would agree that it was less that a proper way to celebrate a birthday. Oh and if there isn't any street parking. It'll cost you about 9 bucks in the lot. I didn't use the restroom, so I cant review its cleanliness. Our waitress was flawless taking orders and delivering food The restaurant itself has a great layout and an outdoor courtyard complete with propane heaters and umbrellas - I loved that... but my favorite part was out front, no not the seating area in the former parking spaces, nope... it was the collapsed woman on the sidewalk, walking her dog with snot running out of her nose because she was huffing some aerosol can of whatever. This truly set the mood upon arrival. Two stars for being close to a lot of other food choices to visit afterward.

Our waitress was absolutely phenomenal, super friendly and anticipating all of our needs (water refills, leftover containers, etc.). Service overall by all staff was friendly. We were actually presently surprised with the taste of the food, thinking it might be more Americanized but they actually had very authentic and tasty totopos (tortilla chips). The tomato salsa that came with the chips was also very refreshing. We asked for hot sauce too and the house habanero salsa really packed a punch! We ordered carne asada nachos, pork belly chilaquiles (from the brunch menu), a breakfast burrito, poke, and steamed clams. The steamed clams came in a rich tomato broth and the breakfast burrito was massive. The poke was just okay and the chilaquiles a bit too soggy for me, and the carne asada nachos a bit dry. Nonetheless, presentation and portion sizes were respectable. The last comment is that food here is quite pricey but that reflects the likely high rent of a restaurant in 2nd and PCH. Unfortunately, we didn't have a reservation, and it was an hour wait, so we went to the bar. A couple was just getting up, so we snagged the table. Our waitress was excellent. She brought us menus, water and were given hot chips with fresh delicious salsa. We ordered the happy hour margaritas and they were perfect to start things off. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas with green tomatillo sauce. The shrimp were big, the sauce was yummy, and the rice and beans were very good. Everyone else was happy with their order. Our waitress quickly ran up the check, as she knew we needed to get to a concert. She was always friendly and helpful to us. We enjoyed our meals, We will be back.

Me trying to decide between the asada burrito or the nachos and they bartender said go with the burrito.I went with the red chile, it comes with cream sauce, served with a thin layer of beans, sautéed onions, cilantro, topped with monterey Jack and mozzarella cheese. Very good tasty burrito. A couple at the bar who sat next be me was offered tortilla chips and salsa by another waiter. I was not offered this. It would be been a nice add. They did keep my soda glass filled so i appreciate that. For dessert i tried the churros with ice cream. Ice cream came pretty melted already lol i understand it was more hot in the resturant than outside for some weird reason. I had to eat it fast but the churros were delicous! Bar area is nice, they have TV's to which the games. The place was like 80% filled, good vibe here! Food rating: Asada Burrito Plate 7.5\10 Churros and Ice cream 8.0\10
