I purchased a $39.99 Groupon discount coupon to have my car's headlamps restored after my car sat outside off and on for four months at my daughter's instead of in my garage. Barely 10% of the headlamps had any white clouding and there was absolutely zero white or yellow clouding on 90% of the headlamps whatsoever. Therefore, it was a very small job but I am very picky about the maintenance of my cars. FIRST RED FLAG: When Jack called to say the car was ready, he said it only took 10 minutes to restore the headlamps. He later claimed he didn't say that. SECOND RED FLAG: When I picked up the car, I noticed they had not moved the car from the dark ramp I originally parked the car on. THIRD RED FLAG: When I paid all for the car, the price was TWICE what I expected to pay. Turns out, the actual price was 39.99 PER HEADLAMP! An honest business would make sure that type of information is clear before they proceed with the work. FOURTH RED LIGHT: When I finally saw the quality of the work, I realized the headlamps still were not 100% clear and the work definitely reflected the minimal amount of time spent on the restoration. Of course, Jack denied saying they had only taken 10 minutes, but the quality of the work clearly reflects the limited amount of time taken. Imagine paying $81.00 for 10 minutes of inferior quality work!! There was no offer to redo the work. There also was no offer to have me come back and let them review their work. Just tons of nonsensical explanations as to why the problem had to be on the inside of the headlamps. Once again, the car only sat outside off and on for a total of four months. I've owned close to 20 cars. There's absolutely nothing wrong with my headlamps! I had other work that I wanted to discuss with this business, but they couldn't even pass a simple headlamp restoration test! Therefore, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS!! read more

Beware! I got my oil changed here and they quoted me $75, then charged me $165. Then they acted like I was an idiot for thinking it ever could have been $75. They treated me pretty terrible. HOWEVER, this is not the reason I am writing the review. The main reason is that I went to a new place to get my oil change this year and when they tried to do the oil change they said the screw had been completed stripped and put on way too tight and they would have to replace the entire oil tank because of Lombard Auto Body's mistake. I took my car here after crunching the side of my door on a cement pole. It was damaged and every auto shop said the door needed to be replaced, and that the soonest replacement would take 2 weeks. I needed my car for a trip in 3 days max. And Lombard replaced my door, per my inconvenient and quick request, in less than 3 business days. Not to mention, they had to search around for the part they needed to replace the door in order to move forward. They were extremely responsive to all my questions, and promptly. I was able to get this fixed with expedited service so quickly, especially in such a busy city at the very last minute. I don't go to auto body shops myself, as my dad usually helps me through these processes. But the pricing seemed very reasonable for the extremely quick repair! I am from Santa Cruz and I had to take care of some business in San Francisco, unfortunately my car broke down so I had arranged for the tow truck to take it to an auto repair shop close by that was recommended by my insurance company, however when I arrived at the auto shop they said that there was a misunderstanding and that they had no openings that day and could possibly work on it in a day or two, but they mentioned that they shared the building with an auto body shop company upstairs and that sometimes they take on repairs, so they called upstairs and within a minute about 3 staff members came down and started looking at the car, asking me questions, and not in an aggressive way, they all seem to have a gentle energy about them, I point this out because the hustle and bustle of the environment, I found it to be quite the contrast. They told me to leave the car there and that they would check it out and get back to me when they had something to tell me, a short time later Jack called me with a few scenarios, but all of them involved keeping the car for at least a couple of days, I had already considered renting a car and just resigning myself to leaving the car there and come back when it was ready, then Jack asked if I had AAA, which I didn't, (but I do now, strongly recommended), because they could tow the car back to Santa Cruz for me to my own mechanic and I wouldn't have to worry about coming back to pick it up, when I told him I did not have AAA he offered to use his company AAA account to have it towed to Santa Cruz for me. I paid Jack $450 at Lombard Auto Body to install two new headlight assemblies on my Toyota 4Runner. Within a few hours, he told me my car was ready for pickup. After I picked up my car and brought it home, I noticed that my fog lights no longer worked. Also, the new headlights were not properly aimed and there were 4 missing retainer clips for the fan belt shroud, presumably an important safety feature. I contacted Jack that same day. Instead of asking me to return my car so they could complete the job I paid him to do, Jack claimed that they checked the fog lights and they were working, which is false. Once I finally convinced him that my eyes did not deceive me, he then demanded I pay an additional $1,800 (4 hours at $450!? per hour) to replace a "Can Bus". Huh? Or alternatively, Jack said I could pay him an additional $250 to have them install a separate fog light switch somewhere in my car to work the fog lights. Jack told me multiple times that their shop rate is $450 per hour. I pointed out to Jack that ChatGPT suggested checking the fuse, but he wasn't interested in doing that. In fact, Jack wasn't interested in doing anything unless I paid him an additional $1,800 for a "Can Bus" or $250 for a separate fog light switch which he would install somewhere in my car. Long story short, I fixed the fog lights he broke by replacing the fuse, per ChatGPT. Then I contacted the headlights seller to figure out how to properly aim the headlights and did that (total hassle). I then ordered 50 retainer clips from Amazon (they cost $0.17 each) and reinstalled the fan belt shroud (it needed to be removed and reinstalled for the headlight assembly and to aim the headlights. That's right, Jack couldn't be bothered to spend $0.68 (4 x $0.17) to replace and install the 4 missing fasteners holding down the fan belt shroud, presumably an important safety guard. I told Jack I wanted a $200 credit for the wasted time, hassle and lies, but never heard back. I will update this review if he ever pays me back. read more

Shocked to see all of the positive reviews, my experience with Jack and Lombard Auto Body was a complete shit show. We called up to ask for a simple repair and Jack convinced us to fix a dent in the side of the car. Fair enough, but we let him know we were moving shortly so the work would have to get done in the next few days. Jack agrees and says the next step is to get approval from the insurance company. We live 2 blocks away so we said we'll come pick up the car while you figure that out and he says dont worry about it, there's no charge for holding your car here. We say sounds good. One week passes and nothing happens. No work started and the quote to fix the dent keeps increasing. It's getting very close to our move date so I call them up and say hey this isn't going to get done in time and the fact that the quote keeps going up seems strange, so we'll just come pick up the car and be done with it. Jack says we can't pick up the car unless we pay hundreds of dollars of fees because they've been holding our car???? Huh? We were told explicitly that there were no holding fees. We live 2 blocks away and offered to pick it up the first day! It was very clear to me that they were price gouging the insurance company which is why they couldn't reach an agreement, and when we called them out on it they held our car hostage. I had to threaten to call the police before Jack finally gave me my car back. I'm a relaxed guy but god damn that was an infuriating experience. Blood was boiling as Jack leaned back in his chair and grinned at me like a mob boss. Complete scumbag and y'all shouldn't trust your cars with him. My wife felt bullied and manipulated. read more

I found Lombard Auto Body on Yelp, and gave them a call and they said they would be able to get it fixed the next day if not same day. Jack was extremely helpful in getting me setup to get the window fixed at a very reasonable price. It just happened that this happened on my birthday and Jack went out of his way to make sure I got my car finished within the next day before my trip. His team went across town to pick up an OEM replacement window for my car and had it installed and the inside of my car cleaned from the broken glass within just a couple of hours! After moving to a new neighborhood in the city I was in search for a new place to get my car serviced. I decided to come to Lombard Auto Body since it was close by and had good reviews. My review would be 5 stars had it not been for one unexpected charge on my bill. I went in for an oil change and expected to be up sold for 2 new tires. I anticipated this and was prepared to pay for this even though I really only wanted to spend money for an oil change at this current moment. Jack called me and we agreed on two new tires. Unfortunately, what was not asked to me for my consent is the TMS sensor that he decided to change. I was aware that my sensor was faulty and sometimes lights would come on and off. This however does not impact my ability to drive safely or require immediate fixing right then and there. Jack called me and mentioned my sensor could be bad but never once quoted me how much this would cost or how I would then also be charged 250+ for the labor to install said sensor. Disappointed that he didn't tell me this would be installed or ask for my consent and permission. This trip to get an oil change cost me 5x the amount of money I was expecting to pay and for that I feel slightly betrayed. Jack is a good salesman. Have you ever wondered if your car can look like it is ready for a photo-shoot? Honestly I didn't even think of this when I took my Smart Fortwo in for some body work. The main reason is because of Jack when I spoke with him on the phone. Jack said he has done body work for Smart Fortwo before and even has one in his shop at the moment, which is rare. Why did I call Lombard Auto Body? It is because of a few loose panels (because I popped them off to do an exhaust mod) and scratches from what looks like someone keying my car. Jack gave me a quote, which is reasonable so I dropped off my car and went about my daily routine. What happened when I came back is what impressed me the most. They not only finished the body, which I am a little picky about but they also cleaned the car (Thank you yelp for the coupon)! That is it you say?Let me explain why I was impressed with the car wash. In hindsight I wish I took photos of the car and could show you what a meticulous job they did. My car didn't even look like my car anymore. There was a shine to the car, which I haven't seen in a while that I forgot it had. How shiny is it? Working in construction has me carrying wood, concrete, dirt, and tools that makes my car gets extremely dirty. In my defense I initially tried by buying weather-tech floor mats but these only go so far especially when I pick up food for dinner and oil leaks through the bag. Jack noticed these stains on the floor mat and actually helped scrub/clean don't know what he did and got it off! Now I want to keep the car clean myself, which I have! Completely ripped off. Payed $96 in labor fees for a car wash. I called this company to get my car cleaned, washed, and a minor fix on my trunk, to prepare my car to be ready and presentable to sell. Given that I'm selling, I did not want to drop hundreds of dollars getting a full detail. Jack claimed a full detail would be $199 (not something I was willing to pay) but that they had another cleaning option starting at $69. I think to myself "a $69 car wash would AT LEAST get me a decent exterior wash, vacuumed carpets, cup holders/compartments cleaned, dashboard wiped, etc." I showed up at 9:45am and informed him the locking mechanism on my trunk had come loose and wasn't locking properly. Something he said he could look into fixing. I left my car, having no idea how long it would be there. When 3:00pm rolled around and no word, I gave him a call and he said it would be done by 5:00pm... 8 hours later. When I got to the shop, I took a quick look at the car in a dark garage, and it looked fine. Trunk was fixed. And car smelled pretty good. Not looking intensely was my fault. I was charged $294. I assumed this high price included fees from getting the trunk fixed (figured he had to call in a part) As soon as I got into the light as I drove away I noticed my car was still a mess. Dirt/leaves in my cup holder. Dusty/dirty dashboard (not even wiped down). Doors had dirt on/in them. Trash on the floor in the back seat. Carpets were still pretty dirty. The trunk was not even vacuumed. Nothing was done inside except for my front carpets being vacuumed. After reading my invoice, I was SHOCKED to find out I was charged $96 for "LABOR FEES" FOR A CAR WASH!!! I probably could have gotten this wash for $10 at a local gas station, vacuumed my own carpets, and took some 409 to the plastic parts of my interior. I was also charged $140 for labor fees to fix my trunk. (All that was done was they stablaized the part that I already had in my trunk) Needles to say I am furious. I have never heard of having to pay $96 in labor fees for a car wash. Especially when the wash itself was only $69. I'm still not entirely sure what exactly I payed for. read more

Jack was very upfront and clear about the price of fixing the door and what kind of labor it would entail, and insurance ended up covering most of it. When I came to pick it up a few days later, the car looked amazing!! It was so shiny it looked like it had just come out of the showroom, and the guys had even polished out another scratch on the opposite door for free. They also vacuumed the inside of my car (which was badly needed, as it was covered in dog hair from our pup ).
