Summary: these guys will lie to you and take advantage of you while vulnerable and stressed out I was in a car accident in downtown San Francisco around 10PM on a Sunday. I called up Lombard to get my car towed. He said someone will be there in 15 minutes. Waited 15 minutes, no one shows up. After waiting a bit longer, called again, said someone will be there in 15 minutes. Waited 15 minutes more, again no one is there. Called again, "he will be there soon". Ended up waiting for an hour. When the guy shows up at 11PM, I asked him to tow the car to a shop in Santa Clara. The owner of the shop (on the phone) said that I should have the car towed to his shop and leave it overnight and that they will tow the car first thing in the morning at 9AM. He told me he will not charge me for storage overnight or the 2nd tow. I believed him and said yes. The next day, they started towing my car at around 3PM. When they reached the body shop, they charged $1500 for the tow. They charged for 2 days of storage and a 2nd tow. When I asked about these charges, he denied the fact that he wouldn't charge me for those fees. The body shop was forced to pay on my behalf (unfortunately, I was unable to physically be there) and that if they didn't pay, they would tow my car away, essentially holding it hostage. I should have read the reviews here before calling up Lombard as now I realize there are similar stories here. They will tell you "Don't worry about it", "The insurance will pay for it", etc. and end up charging you an exorbitant amount of money. They're crooks. read more

All I can say is that lombard towing is amazing, and they have great customer service they were extremely reliable and dependable. I've Dealt with other towing companies in the past and they were always rude and dressed inappropriately and unprofessional. My experience with Lombard towering was extremely positive and they really went the extra mile explaining to me what was going on with my car. They helped me find a good repair shop and worked with them at helping me to get my vehicle fixed in a timely manner. My tow driver Oscar was so nice and sweet and he took the time to explain to me my options. There priceing was extremely reasonable and affordable and they connected me with a mechanic shop that worked with me to make payments to get my car repaired. I definitely recommend Lombard towing and if I ever need a tow again I'd defiantly call them. They have fast and friendly customer service and work with you. read more

My fiance's car was hit in downtown San Francisco while parked. Jerry from Lombard tow came to take the car to our body shop in San Mateo. We left Jerry around 4pm and we contacted our body shop around 5pm and were informed that the car had not made it there. 5:30pm goes by, still nothing. We call both the numbers on Jerry's card and they are disconnected. We look up Lombard tow and are able to get in touch with him. When we ask him why the car hasn't made it to our shop, he said that he had contacted them and no one was there, the body shop where we've been going for 10 years confirmed this was not the case. Now we actually become worried about the car, disconnected numbers, no contact, nothing. We mention to him that we would like to get the police involved. His tone completely changes and he becomes very apologetic and says he'll have it there by 8:30am the next morning. Sure. Want to guess what he charged to keep the car overnight? Oh, just $1,800, for one night of storage. This guy is a crook. read more

DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE TOW YOUR VEHICLE TO THEIR SHOP. I got into an accident and the police had my vehicle towed by these people. It took a while for the Insurance Companies to settle (also took a while for police to submit a report) During which time I called the shop asking if I were being charged storage. I did not get a direct answer .. only got a "Do not worry, we work with insurance companies ... bla bla bla" Well I fell for it.... I let them hold on to my vehicle for almost 3 months (again we were waiting for insurance) In the end I was to be charged a rediculous storage fee ... so before I knew it, the cost to get my vehicle out was more than it is worth. Thus he now owns my vehicle cause I can't afford to get it out. In Short: Pros:Fast and Effecient Cons: The staff are reluctent to answer your questions. Even the owner did not know rates off the top of his head (which seems to coinside with my idea that they change it on the fly depending on how much of a sucker you sound to them.) If you hear "Don't worry ___Fill in the blank___ will pay for it all." DO NOT BELIEVE THEM!!!! One star because I can't figure out how to give them minus stars... read more

Terrible company. When I called them dispatch said anywhere in the city it would be $99.00. Did not mention anything about extra charge. When they arrive they had to use something called bait, because my car was completely dead. Guy never mentioned about charging me extra once again. After towing my car to the mechanic which is less than 2 miles, he wants $150 for the equipment that he used. I just paid it and tipped him even extra. But then someone called me 9 pm at night saying my card didn't go through and talking to me like collecting agency. First, get a decent credit card terminal or square if you are running a business. Person who took my card information used one of those old school manual copy machine. All these negative reviews make sense now. Never ever recommend this company to anyone. This guy will charge you triple, even quadruple what others will charge. If you have other options, which there are plenty go with them. Golden Gate, Atlas, Corvera's. Anybody but these guys! I was charged almost $1,000 for a 40 mile tow to my preferred mechanic. I checked, that should have only cost $250-$300. read more

Do not use these guys. I had an accident and they happened to be there. They told me that my AAA would pay for all, that part is fine. The bad part is that they tried to keep my car in their storage for the weekend and made it inconvenient for me to pick it up, lengthening the storage time. All results in a lot more money and time. OMG, my car's gasket went out and I couldn't get it jump started. Called Lombard Towing after reading all the 5 stars reviews but ended up waiting 45 minutes passed the agreed time. The dispatch officer said the tow truck will get there at 7:45am when I called at 7:13am. no show at 8am, so I called and the dispatched said the driver was at the Embarcadero (Ferry building in San Francisco) and should be there shortly. My car was literally less than 10 minutes from the Ferry Building. At 8:15am, still no show so called again and was told that should take another 5-7 minutes. At 8:30am, still no show and i was hungry, tired and fed up, so i called to canceled the service....finally got the the shop at 10am after the mechanic sent his towing company to rescue....what a Monday! read more

These guys are crooks, same as another review I read, they drove by right after I got in an accident while I was on the phone with AAA. The driver who said he was the owner of the company continued to convince me that he accepts AAA as payment. The next day when he delivered my car to my mechanics he delivered it alond with a $700 bill! $350 for the tow and $350 for one night of storage! My mechanics had to pay the bill so the crook wouldn't take my car back to shop, and I went from thinking my AAA covered the bill to paying $700 out of my student loans. Bottom line these guys are terrible, taking advantage of people when they are frantic directly following an accident. I am currently in the process of taking them to small claims court and reporting them to the better business bureau. Stay away from Lombard towing! read more

And although it turned out it didn't make sense to tow my car because it was too late to deliver it anywhere, Oscar gave me a helpful evaluation of the situation and alternatives to consider. Yesterday was just about one of the worse days in awhile... one of those... you should have stayed home days. I happened to have gotten a flat tire on the morning and had my insurance company send someone out for roadside assistance... got my tire fixed and on the way home stop at Best Buy... My battery (in my cars defense... it is a 6 year old car and I had NEVER changed the battery... go Saturn! LOL) decided to die on me.... such luck... I am stuck in the parking lot of Best Buy and my insurance company wants me to give them the name of a place I want to get my car towed to... don't they have a list of places??? Well, I got flustered and hung up... made some calls and then decide to look under the hood... as i am outside looking like I am pretending to know what the deal with my car is... a man is driving on the street in a tow truck and yells across the way "Do you need help?" He come over... hears my sad story... i start to cry and he tells me not to worry... we can tow it to a shop. He was so nice and friendly. Very professional too. His name is Jerry and the owner... if you EVER need a tow... call this place... I didn't even know that you can have your insurance company reimburse you. I'm driving along in my automobile two days ago and suddenly I feel the engine die out, yikes I'm on the freeway! I manage to pull over to the right shoulder safely but the freeway was on a slight right curve where I was stopped so it was a dangerous spot to be in. Cars were whizzing by so fast I thought I was going to get hit by one! A minute later, before I had even called my roadside service to send a tow truck, Jerry from Lombard Towing shows up and stops to help! He offered to tow me to a safer area. I know, you're thinking, "he's supposed to stop, that's his job". Trust me, even if he was just doing his job, you would've wanted him to stop too and I'm glad he stopped. I've seen many tow trucks and even cops pass by cars that were stuck on the side of the road. I'm grateful that I didn't have to wait an hour for my road side service to send a truck. He offered to have his garage look at it and towed my car there which was only an exit away. The guys there were really nice and gave suggestions as to what the problem might be but did not try to push me into getting my car fixed there. When I didn't want to get the repair done by the auto shop owned by the same owner, Jerry Hernandez (which isn't even California licensed as far as I could find online) he tried extorting extra charges. read more

I was in a dangerous curve on Park Presidio when my car died. I hit my hazard lights and called my insurance company for a tow who also called the police because I was sure I would get rearended. The police arrived first and said he would expedite getting a tow truck because of my location. My insurance company tow truck driver kept calling me asking where I was, he couldn't find me! Fantastic Fast friendly and at a great price!! I was with my gf and went to have dinner when all of a sudden my car dies:( I saw the great rating that they had and gave them a call. They told me they would have a truck over in 15 min. They got there in 10! I ha no clue what I should even do and the driver was nice enough to take a loon at the car and recommend they take it to there shop to do a diagnostic. Turned out something simple an alternator and didn't even charge me for the diagnostic. These guys are great a++!! :) read more

I had one of those nightmare days today, the kind where you sit back and just can't believe that is what happened. This morning during the heaviest downpour, the alternator on my car went out immediately south of the Golden Gate Bridge toll plaza. My heart just sunk - I truly believe that car problems are a woman's worse nightmare come true. Luckily the Golden Gate Emergency Responder was right behind me and he was able to call and get me off 101, and into a residential area at Lake & 14th Ave. Those guys were wonderful! My husband and I both called our Insurance company that we have Roadside Service with, at 9:20 & 9:35 and we were both told that somebody should be there within an hour. Needless to say that hour turned into two, and then three, and then four; we both continually checked in with the insurance company, letting them know that I am 35 almost 36 weeks pregnant in a residential area where there is no place available to go to the restroom, I have not eaten at all, and have nothing to drink. Eventually, a Supervisor for the Roadside Service company called me and I honestly burst into tears because we had just been told that three towing companies had been dispatched and all three cancelled, I didn't know if anybody was coming. I will admit that the Customer Service agents we were working with were very nice, and I think they were trying to be helpful - but the whole system is very broken. The first towing company they dispatched is based out of Southern California and had their San Francisco shop in Oakland - yes only ten miles or so away on paper, but that would be like 50 miles anywhere else. Eventually, my knight in big yellow truck showed up at 2:30pm (five hours after the original call). Jerry from Lombard Towing showed up and was wonderful - I asked if he would mind stopping on the way to Marin for me to get something to eat and go to the restroom after he hooked up the car. He opened the truck door and had me climb in and immediately took me to a coffee shop about five blocks away where I was able to get some food and use the not open to the public restroom. Then he hooked up my car and took me to the mechanic in San Rafael. The whole time Jerry was just so wonderful, he told me about his wife who you can tell he adores, the company that he is so proud of and his children. Jerry was my lifesaver today. read more
