We love this vet so much we travel 20-25 min just to keep coming here! Like pretty much every dog our dog hates the vet and gets nervous coming, but everyone is so kind and gentle with her and they're really thorough and explaining everything you need to know. Our dog even has a favorite nail tech that she actually gets excited to see despite the fact that trimming her nails is her least fave part. This location was fully remodeled a few years ago and it is so nice. It feels like it's a large house! It's very clean and there are even mini partitions to keep your dogs separate from each other in the lobby. We trust this vet, and after moving away from Lombard, we had such a bad vet experience somewhere else that we feel that this is the best vet in the area and will continue on coming here, even if it comes with more of a drive for us. read more

This Friday my husband and I took our girl Roxy to the Lombard vet to have a consultation with the Rehabilitation team. She has a history of severe arthritis and we wanted to see what we can do to make her comfortable and prolong her quality of life. She is on medication for this but we wanted to see what else we could do. For the moment we got there we were greeted by an assistant and then by Dr. Anders. We did not have to wait at all. We felt very welcome. Dr. Anders was so amazing with Roxy. Roxy can be really shy and become grumbly,but with Dr. Anders she was not shy at all. She warmed up to her fairly quickly. You can tell Dr.Andres loves what she does by the way she treats us and Roxy. She was so patient with Roxy throughout the whole process. She was also able to do a thorough exam with without pushing Roxy and make her apprehensive. With this consultation, we learned a lot of information about Roxy's such as her favoring one leg over the other, indicating a potential imbalance or discomfort. At the end of it all we were able to set up some sessions for therapy for Roxy. And we got information on some at home therapy we can do. Im so glad we have another way to help Roxy! The team at LVH communicates exceptionally well and clearly loves the animals they care for. Their high emotional intelligence is evident in their interactions, and they always make targeted recommendations and develop care plans that make sense for both the owner and the pet. Their flexible hours allow us to easily schedule care for Roxy without worrying about her condition worsening. I took our 13 year old cat in for routine visit, vaccines and exam on a Sunday. It took a long time for them to come in to the room. Spent maybe a total of 10 minutes with the vet, but we were in the exam room for about an hour. During the visit the vet offered the 3 year rabies shot, which I decided would be good for our senior guy who didn't like to leave the house. On Tuesday, I had to bring him in because he was crying abnormally early that morning. They did fit us in, that was cool. They brought him back right away because he was doing abdominal breathing, which is an emergency. They did x-rays that showed fluid everywhere and a large mass. The vet didn't give me any other options other than to put him down. Why didn't the vet, only two days earlier say anything, see anything??? He was obviously really sick. I don't blame anyone for that. I do, however, find it incredibly wrong that nobody said anything about how odd it was that the vet on Sunday said nothing. No admittance of mistakes being made. This place is way too big, with too many vets, there's hardly any warmth. We have since welcomed two new cats to our family. We took our kitten to see the vet, giving them one more chance. And they gave us trouble about the bill, insisting they needed to call the shelter he came from, and then told the shelter we expected them to pay (this was not the case). I would never recommend this place. It was terribly convenient, but not worth it at all. We will be finding a new vet, with heart and warmth and humility. read more

This is our local vet that we go to for our toy Maltese furbabies. We like Dr Gay and she is a veterinarian that is thorough and kind to our furbabies. She is very patient with us when we had a lot of questions in regards to our babies health. The other vets and staff were all so nice and friendly. We were also able to get a mass from one of our for babies who was diagnosed with cancer to be tested to see if a growth mass was cancerous or not right on site. That beats waiting for the biopsy to be sent out and getting the results later on. I like that they have the computer in each of the room and an assistant would take notes while we are talking to the vet. They are computer savvy over there so we would get our records and notes via email. That's quick! You get text reminders and when you pre-check in When we check in, we click on a link and answer questions online and add any notes before our appointment which they go over in the appointment. When you are going to your appointment, you wait in your car in a parking spot in front of the hospital and someone will approach your car and check you in. Then they will walk you into the hospital and bring you directly into your room that shows a tag sticking out showing what doctor will be going into the room. You were able to ask for pricing of medication and treatments ahead of time and make a decision if you want to proceed or not, we did not feel any pressure when asked if we want it or not. We also like the fact they do certain bloodwork on site and all we had to do is wait for 20 minutes for the results. We also like the fact they have long hours open and if needed to go to ER, we are able to. They also take care credit, which is good as well. Overall, it's a great clinic it's clean and well organized, friendly staff! we would come back here again and again! read more

I don't know where to begin. Dr Ovitt at this hospital took a chance in my dog and saved his life. He had a slipped disc and we saw a neurologist and another vet. My dog was paralyzed and we couldn't afford the mri and surgery that was needed. The other vet and neurologist said there was no chance of our dog walking again. We saw Dr Ovitt on a recommendation from a friend who has there own amazing story. She also said it was a small chance he would walk again but was willing to work with us. She put him on some meds, we did Crate rest and laser treatments. It took almost a year but my dog can walk again and is back to himself . He has had a couple flare ups that she immediately gives us meds for and starts laser treatments and so far so good. All the staff here has been amazing to us as well. I highly recommend this vet for all your pets needs. read more

We had an emergency this afternoon as our 14 year old German Shepherd had his first seizure, and vomited. I called our vets office, but missed them by minutes! I called Lombard Veterinary Hospital as they were the only nearby hospital open, and I didn't want to drive an additional 10 miles just to go to an Emergency Vet Hospital as this was his first episode, but every second counts. The Nurse said they had a 5:30pm appointment slot open, but they would keep that available for one of their clients - but we would have to wait. I asked her what she meant about that 5:30 slot she just offered, and she said that we would have to be a repeat patient for that appointment. Me being in the medical field myself, I asked her if she was denying care. She said no, but that appointment slot is for customers! What are we??? We are customers too! We have 5 animals, and I'm a volunteer with a rescue. I'm pretty sure we will cross paths again. But again. We have a senior dog who just suffered a severe seizure for two minutes and vomiting, while looking for a vets office that was open. My opinion. Save your time, and money! These people don't care about your fur babies unless you are a repeat client of theirs. But don't worry! We found someone else who took us right away, and understood that our senior dog needed to be seen right away. If I could give you zero stars, I would. Horrible CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! read more

Our active dog, Libby, tore her dewclaw (late Thursday) and despite my interventions (trimmed the claw, sprayed a few times per day with Dermoplast, lightly wrapped to avoid soiling and licking, warm epsom salt compress), it became inflamed and seemed worse. Libby was whimpering by Saturday night, and it just felt unwise letting it fester until our regular vet was open (Tuesday!). I also didn't know if she had an exposed nerve. So, first thing Sunday morning, I called 2 emergency vets and physically drove to one. All quoted 2-4 hour in-the-car waits! I didn't see how that was a possibility AT ALL with two toddlers!! TMI, but I broke down crying because I felt as if I had no viable options. As I was trying to pull myself together and searching for open vets, I FINALLY found Lombard Vet Hospital, open on a SUNDAY! They were so kind to my blubbering self, and got Libby in to be seen soon after. A texted link allowed me to enter medical information pertaining to the visit. I was able to do curbside. It seems they have a masks required policy in place, so just as well since I don't mask the Littles if we can avoid it. They were so nice and treated Libby. The doc stated that I had done everything right and advised airing out the dewclaw. We left with two Rx's, a nail trim, a cone, and exam = about $185. The vet called me mid week to let me know that they had diarrhea, why didn't they get cleaned? I'm horrified and I will never bring my pets here again. The representative said they would not see our cat unless given all the latest vaccinations, and even if then our cat would be "muzzled". How cruel is it to muzzle the mouth of a cat with a swollen abscess? And the representative provided no alternatives or empathy. read more

My wife and daughters are blessed we called Lombard Veterinarian Hospital (LVH) on January 19th, 2020 to see our 11 year old dog, Bella. Bella is a 27lb yorkie-poo and was bitten by a possible raccoon/fox/coyote on her left rear ankle in our backyard. In a matter of 12 hours, Bella's ankle quickly became infected with an increasing fever. Fortunately, LVH had an opening to see Bella that morning and Dr. Martin and LVH amazing team recognized Bella's poor infection and gave her IV antibiotics and pain medication. Bella was admitted for 5 days at LVH and was treated under Dr. Britton and her awesome and compassionate team. LVH technicians made sure Bella's wound site was properly cleaned and dressed on a timely manner. Happily, after a month of continuous wound cleaning and dressings, Bella is back to her old self, and my daughters are so happy she's home. My family is blessed of the hard work, dedication, and love they've put to see and treat Bella. LVH certainly saved Bella's life, and we're more than grateful for everything they've done for her. Thank you very much Lombard Veterinarian Hospital for all the care and love you gave to our Bella. We're so happy you're in our neighborhood. read more

I got my cat an ultrasound for his persistent diarrhea and etc., was told I'd receive a call with the results within 24-48 hours and 6 days later haven't heard anything. I called yesterday and left a message with the receptionist, she said the vet would call last night or this morning-nothing! Called this afternoon and apparently the vet isn't even in today. Dr. Cornell and James clearly had a very deep care for animals and genuinely wanted my Anubis to get the best care possible. My 11 year old bichon shih tzu mix was lethargic, diarrhea, super uncomfortable and seemed to be going downhill fast. I was frantic and called these guys. The woman on the phone was so sweet and empathetic towards the situation. She got us in the same day. Ashley was our nurse and she was awesome and friendly. Dr. Walsh took amazing care of us. She diagnosed our Jolie with pancreatitis. She listened and was super caring and just made us feel like we finally found a vet we feel we can trust. We adored the whole staff and for a high stress situation, they put us at ease and Jolie is already feeling better a day later and I can smile and breathe again!! Amazing places like this are very hard to come by now a days and I appreciate all of the care that goes into their facility from the person who meets you outside to the doctor - it all matters. One of the hardest days of my life was last Saturday, May 28, 2022. My 16 yr old cat starting having horrible seizures. This office was so accommodating to get me in that morning. Everyone could not have been nicer. The Vet confirmed that she probably had a brain tumor or cancer. We could run tests, but at her age may be no quality of life. I asked if she thought she was suffering & she said yes. As hard as I knew it would be, I had to let her go. I am beyond heartbroken. But their care & compassion certainly helped. We have watched as it changed from a caring family practice to an all business, inflated bill practice. After all of these years we were just told they will not come to our home to euthanize our pet due to COVID. I was going to rate it a 3 due to their high charges but I think many vets charge the same rates. I really appreciate their hours. Especially that they are open on Sundays. I have never had a problem getting my dog a same day appointment. The staff are exceptionally nice. My other concern is that they seem to go through veterinarians at an extremely quick rate. We'll have one vet, make a follow up appointment for the next month and be told 'I'm sorry, Dr. so and so no longer works here.' Rarely do we get the same vet twice. But they are all good so I guess that is what matters. The doctors are very prompt in getting back to you on test results. Don't expect to get out of there for less than $200. I don't know how they do it, but no matter what we come in for, our bill is always over $200.00. This week's bill was $360. for a Chihuahua check up, chest xray and radiologist reading of the xray. read more

Love this place. Teddy, our mini golden doodle, has been a patient since birth 7 years ago. He has stayed at their facility for boarding numerous times when we go out of town which is often. He gets SO excited and happy to see the staff when I drop him off and am confident he gets good care. My review is particularly about Dr Cornell. We recently made an appointment due to some concerns with Teddy's new onset of symptoms. Teddy was clumsy, falling frequently, and 1/2 his face looked droopy. Upon a very thorough and professional examination, Dr Cornell recommended blood work to further pin point what the problem could possibly be. Long story short, Teddy is fine and all is good. Dr Cornell stated that sometimes dogs get vestibular disease and improve within a week or so. Due to an overall normal physical examination, he advised we follow up in one week if his symptoms did not improve. Exactly one week later, Teddy was his bouncing, silly, energetic self. Dr Cornell's bedside manners were professional and compassionate. He is also very knowledgeable and Teddy is so lucky to call him Doc! Would recommend him and this facility without hesitation. read more

WOW. I absolutely love this Vet. I live in Woodridge and drive about 25 minutes to get here and it's so worth it because of the vets and staff on duty!! They loved my 4 month old kitten and treated him so well. The whole staff was so kind and Dr Britton answered all my questions and was so thoughtful and kind. My appointment was at 1 and lasted about 35 minutes and they were quick and effective but they didn't rush taking care of him. And I love that. Definitely will be back!! read more

I had been a previous client of Lombard Veterinary Hospital for many years until moving to a different town. I changed to a nearby office for convenience and to support a local business. Never feeling really taken care of, but alway$ feeling taken advantage of, I never found anywhere I considered "our vet". Luckily our golden never had any major issues and only required yearly exams, but even those always had an in$ane price tag. I've started caring for dogs in our home and can count on one hand how many times I've had to contact the client's vet in over three years. This week, I had this sweet little boy that was recently adopted by an incredible family. Unfortunately, this morning, he woke up to what I could only assume was a bladder infection. The family's vet wouldn't see him any sooner than his next appointment which was two weeks away because he wasn't officially a patient of theirs. The other four places I called couldn't see him for more than 48 hours and emergency vets in the area were averaging a SIX hour in person wait time. I called Lombard Veterinary Hospital and they scheduled him for that evening. After an hour or so, they called back and told me to bring him in at noon. They were on time, I was able to attend the appointment in person, the staff was incredibly friendly, professional and more importantly, they cared. I was able to ask questions, they listened and looked me in the eye when they sat down in a chair next to me to answer. I know these businesses are overwhelmed, but they moved onto the next patient in a timely manner without making me feel like I was just a number. I don't often write reviews, but as someone who is a dog owner and caregiver, I won't consider another clinic going forward. Dr. Megan Britton has my highest recommendations. read more

The care has really gone downhill over the years..My dog was spayed two weeks ago. After paying $800 plus a preop visit charge, we were told we couldn't enter the office and had to get post op instructions in the cold parking lot, in the dark. We had to call with questions and had huge issues getting someone to call us back. They also don't provide an after surgery follow up and when I call to get a price for a visit, No one can tell mw how much it is. read more

Time for an update on my Lombard Vet review, as 2017 was definitely a vet-intensive year for us (all 4 of our pets experienced some sort of medical issue or surgery, meaning that I visited Lombard Vet roughly 1,000 times this year...or so it felt). They continue to earn my highest recommendation and rating, even after a very trying (and expensive) year. Over the course of the year I've seen doctors Ludwig, Martin, Sutarik, and Cornell at times for our various issues. All of them have been unbelievably patient and accommodating for both sick dogs and cats, and an emotional basket-case mom! At one point when we were in Florida and our cat refused to eat for the pet sitter and went into liver crisis, they not only stayed in constant communication via email and phone, but also immediately fit me in for an emergency ultrasound and treatment for her just hours after my last-minute plane flight back to Chicago. Quite literally a life saver! Another cool thing I learned this year with our new dog and separation anxiety is that we have a fantastic veterinary behaviorist right here in Lombard! I had initially scheduled an appointment with Dr. Ciribassi at the recommendation of our rescue group, but he was experiencing a 3 month wait time for an appointment. I discovered that when it comes to behavior issues, Dr. Martin at Lombard Vet really knows her stuff! We saw her instead since it was more of an emergent issue, and she continued to check up on us and offer support via email long after our appointment. She really was the reason why we've gotten our new pup's anxiety issues under control and she is now able to stay out of the crate and happy when we leave. Thank you so much Dr. Martin! I appreciate all of you and your continued care and dedication to your patients. That being said, here's hoping that all of our visits to you in 2018 are for routine care only!! :) read more

Lombard Vet is one of the many things that have been passed down through the generations of my family...that and bad backs, but what can you do? My grandparents came here with their dogs, my parents with theirs, and now I bring mine. My Good Boy has seen many of the vets here and there's only been one that left a bad taste in our mouths - fortunately she's since moved on. The staff is courteous, prompt and accommodating. I've seen a few complaints about the charges, but Lombard Vet is consistently the cheapest option for the services we've needed. Two examples: 1) I haven't found another clinic that does bi-annual visits...2 exams for the price of one AND I can split up our annual vet expenses? Deal! 2) Echocardiograms aren't cheap. $345 at Lombard Vet was- at least!- $75 cheaper than the 7 other practices we called. I will concede that nail trims are costly, but it's the convenience you're paying for. I COULD do it myself, but... my Good Boy isn't always such a good boy and $15 isn't SO bad. I have a lot of questions. I'm *that* person. But (with the exception of that one vet...) I've never been made to feel like I was a nuisance even though, really, I was. More importantly, though, Good Boy loves them. He's excited when we go to the vet. Not so much with the shots, poking and prodding; but with all the people that are happy to see him, the treats and the smells. He's high anxiety and scares easily so I worry he might be a not-so-Good-Boy, but he always is for them. That alone says a lot. 3 stars from Good Boy (Sometimes there's cats and it is the Doctor's office...) 5 stars because I have the thumbs. read more
