Nope, not only do I hate it, but you acted without permission and but my dog at risk the hottest week of the year. Cutting a Golden Retriever's hair short is not recommended because their coat plays a crucial role in regulating their body temperature. The double coat provides Insulation: The double coat helps to regulate a Golden Retriever's body temperature, keeping them warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Protection: The outer coat acts as a barrier against the elements, protecting the skin from wind, rain, and sun damage. We came in to get our dog groomed. I recommend asking to see your dog first before paying. We did the opposite and he came out looking the exact same... we asked the groomer to trim the paw, bum and private areas. The paws were uneven and the private & bum area was untouched. read more

Sadly, things have changed at this Kriser's. They used to have the most amazing staff who always said hello upon walking in and would always come up to say hello to my dog Pixie. Pixie loved going there as they always gave her a treat! They would also answer questions for us or suggest great products. Not anymore. I kept giving the place chance after chance but the staff is horrible. They look absolutely miserable. They don't say hello when we walk in and don't even say hi to our dog. They don't even give our dog a treat anymore. Pixie will jump up to the counter because she was used to this at that store, but not anymore. They won't even acknowledge her. This is an expensive pet store (which isn't an issue and we want to give our fur babies the best) and this level of service is not acceptable for a higher end pet store like this. We have started shopping at the pet people in Naperville and the staff there is wonderful and always plays with our dog when we go in there. read more

The only groomer I will ever use is Brooke here at the Glen Ellyn Krisers. She is the most professional and dedicated groomer I've ever met. She always listens to my concerns and educates me on proper home grooming techniques. I have a very curly thick haired doodle mix, his hair can be so overwhelming but with Brookes help I have a gorgeous happy dog. If you're looking for local grooming service you can trust please ask for Brooke. The store and staff are all super, we love going in any chance we get. Great selection of quality foods. They always have sales and coupons. Staff is knowledgeable and gives great recommendations. I don't know what happened to Kriser's but it just isn't the same. All the fantastic employees left, the groomers kept changing and not for the better... I was picking up my dog with jagged nails despite paying extra for filing, and a couple times my dog was still wet even though I picked her up hours later. I could tell she was spending quite a bit of time in the cage because, as she HATES cages, the skin on her nose had been scratched off due to her trying to escape the cage by using her nose to try to open the door. It's a shame, but after years of loving the stability of staff and quality service, I can't go back. read more

When i still said i couldnt, i got a call back a few minutes later saying i was no longer allowed at the store due to my difficulty and threatening nature? I guess having a work schedule i cant change so that they can get a jumpstart to their Friday makes me a horrible person? I never had a conversation in which i could have been threatening, but the kid on the phones feels like he should add his own interpretations i guess. We brought our Kobe to Kriser's for an appointment with Samantha and she did a great job! I love Kobe's moppy, long hair (see Before pic) but he couldn't see very well past his bangs and his stomach and legs were getting dirty on every walk so he needed a cut. At drop off, I asked Samantha to cut his hair but to keep it a bit longer and definitely don't shave him - he has no knots or matting so shouldn't be necessary. (Note: We had a bad experience with the last groomer who shaved him unnecessarily (even nicked him with the shaver) during a haircut that took about 30 minutes.). We didn't want Kobe's haircut rushed or him hurt/stressed in the process. At pick up nearly 3 hours later, it was clear that Samantha had taken her time to properly groom Kobe. Through the front glass window we could see her putting the finishing touches on Kobe and it was clear that she and Kobe had really hit it off. He looked great - exactly the cut we requested! She even mentioned that he was so relaxed at one point during the process that he fell asleep! After this experience we definitely trust Samantha with Kobe and will bring him back again! read more

Also the groomer Heather is wonderful. Whenever I drop my dog off I know she is in good hands. I have had some bad grooming experiences in the past, and it made it so my dog was difficult to groom. She once was even sent back to me unfinished because she was too stressed. 2 grooms with Heather later and now she does wonderfully. Do you love your dog or cat like they are a member of your family?? Yeah, me too. Jackson is, as far as I'm concerned, my child. He may have 4 legs and a tail, but he's our boy. While running errands the other day, we stopped at Trader Joe's in Glen Ellyn. On our walk in, we noticed a new place we didn't notice the last time we were there, Kriser's. A few signs in the window lead us to believe it was a pet store of sorts. I thought we would run in to see if they had anything that might help our fur kid with his recent breath issue. We were greeted by two young ladies, Abby and Morgan, who offered assistance right away when we came through the door. People sometimes offer to help at department stores, for example, and because they don't actually seem like they want to actually help me, I typically turn them town but Abby and Morgan seemed eager to assist us and wanted to help us find whatever brought us in that day. I asked them if they carried anything for our dog who recently has developed some breath issues out of nowhere. Abby perked up and took me over to an end cap that displayed various dental/plaque/tarter items for your pets. She recommended an item called Plaqueoff by Proden. She informed me that she has many clients purchase this item and that they have received a lot of positive feedback on this Plaqueoff. I asked if they had anything a little cheaper as it was $24 and she showed me some treats that contain the same ingredients but since the treats would not last us nearly as long as the bottle of Plaqueoff, we opted for the $24 Plaqueoff. Jackson has been using it for a few days. He hasn't turned his nose up at it at all and I gotta say, I have found his breath has improved already! After looking around the store and checking out some toys for him, we ended up chatting with Jim (who I can only figure is the owner) and we ended up also picking up some Probiotics for our 4-legged pal to help support his digestive system. We were both very pleased to find such a great store with a fantastic staff and I cannot express how much I appreciate the organization of the entire store. I was quite impressed with both the layout of the store as well as how everything was in its place. It's obvious that the management and staff obviously take pride in their store, as they should! I would definitely stay away from the grooming portion of this business. Not because the groomers do bad work.....my dogs actually looked very nice after the cut. And that's the only reason it gets two stars. The manager or owner (not sure what she is), is very bizarre and tries to scam you when paying. I had two puppies who were only about 7 months old when we went here the first time. Upon check out, the owner claimed that both my dogs had accidents in their cage after they were finished. So she told me, "normally I charge double the price if we have to wash the dog after they finish and there is an accident in the cage....but I'll be nice, and only charge you double for the one dog, and an extra $10 for the second dog".....as if she were doing me a favor. So ok...I knew my dogs weren't fully trained yet because they're only 7 months old and it was their first grooming. I wasn't too familiar with policies at groomers if dogs had accidents, so I overlooked her behavior above. So we went in a second time, and this time I told them I'd wait for the dogs to finish, and I'd immediately take them so they didn't have to go back in the cage after the groomer finished. So what did the crazy manager do this time? Someone brought in their dog to have their nails clipped, and my dog was almost finished. They took my dog and put him in the cage even though I told them not to....so that they could clip this other dog's nails. Not 10 seconds after the groomer put my dog in the cage, the crazy manager / owner (whatever she is), runs in the back by the groomers, and comes out saying my dog had an accident in the cage again. Then she starts rambling on again that she should charge me double because the groomer has to put my dog in the sink to wash him off. She said I'm not going to charge you this time, but this is so much extra work for my groomer. Really? At this point I sense a scam. First off, even though she didn't charge me this time around like on the first visit, I don't like being threatened with all these extra charges. Second, I don't get where she has the audacity to level off these threats of charging "double". So if the bath and hair cut is $55, you're going charge $110 because the dog had an accident, and your groomer just has to wash their feet in the sink a second time? I'm no expert on dog haircuts, but I would think that most of the work is in the actual cutting of the hair. And finally, what kind of business does this owner think she's in? She's grooming dogs, not people. You go into the dog grooming business and never expect a dog is going to have an accident? Just to add a side note to this. I never went back. I called several groomers in the area, and asked what their policies were regarding dogs having an accident after they were finished to see if anyone else charged extra to wash the dogs off. And none of them said they would do such a thing....and they were all appalled when I told them the story about this place. I have now taken my two dogs to a new groomer, who loves my dogs, and said they have never had any accidents in their cages after the bath / cut was finished....and she said she wouldn't charge me extra even if they did. In her words, "that's part of this business and it's expected there will be accidents from time to time". read more

It took me too long to post this review since we took our very old (13!) English Bulldog for much-needed grooming. Samantha did a fabulous job with her and was extremely patient as our old girl is notorious for hating having her paws touched in any way. Samantha used products that worked great and stopped the itching! The store and grooming area are extremely clean and well maintained. The entire Kriser's staff is adhering properly to COVID safety measures which I found reassuring. We will be back in about another month and hopefully, will get Samantha again. read more

We recently took our dogs in for a nail trim. They are anxious dogs who can react to nail grinding unfavorably. I warned the groomers of this when we got there. I didn't have a problem with them manhandling them a little to make sure they didn't snap or move too much. However, one of them barked through the whole process and at the end we witnessed the groomer scream at him to shut up and push him down by the neck. We get that his barking is a bit much but he's still a puppy and she doesn't know his history. I will never return after seeing how this groomer treated my dog. read more

Just went here for the first time recently and have already been back once. It's a beautiful store, very well laid out and a great selection of high quality brands. The brands themselves may be a little higher priced, but the store's prices are very reasonable and competitive for what you are getting. I went in kinda already knowing what I wanted - I wanted a new dry food to replace the one we were using and already knew which brand and flavor I wanted to try, and then figured I'd pick up some canned food while we were there. The canned food you save by buying 24 at a time - any 24 cans. They didn't have 24 of the one I usually buy, so they recommended a couple of different alternatives, one in the same brand but different flavor, and another brand. Our cats adore them both! I was also reassured that the dry food I was getting, kind of more of a midday snack type food, would be loved and was one of the best brands. Kriser's is full of awesomeness for your pet. First, the people are friendly as heck, and the store is laid out really well - small but stocked. They have plenty of great foods for dog and cat alike, and the prices seem quite fair considering they are upper-end foods. With that being said, we stuck to the treats for our dog and got him some goodies to bring back to Kansas City. He devoured the pigs ear immediately, and is currently chomping away on the huge, long beef stick (probably 2.5 feet long, give or take). Add a large peanut butter treat and it all came to $8 or so with taxes. Good deal! read more

I was really glad to see this high end pet store next to the Trader Joe's in Glen Ellyn. I was out of Stella and Chewy's Freeze Dried Raw food for my kitties and I was expecting to have to drive to Arlington Heights to get it at one of the stores there. Kriser's had just what I needed. While the food selection for cats is somewhat limited compared to similar stores (i.e. they only had two flavors of the freeze dried raw and no smaller packages), the brands that they DO have are excellent. I was able to get Earthborn, which is not available at Bentley's or any other store in the NW burb. Plus they also had another of my favs, TikiCat, plus Weruva and other brands you would expect. Again- not a huge variety of flavors but plenty to choose from. It is a high end store so the prices are not low but they have good quality food and it is SO convenient. read more

After having a pretty bad experience at a groomer (our dog was nicked quite bad on her ears and was crying when we picked her up), we decided to give Kriser's a shot. We had bought things from there before and really like the store, so why not? We took our dog there at 3:30 on a Saturday and she was done in about 2 hours. I was really shocked it only took 2 hours because we have a golden doodle and she had gotten quite matted. Additionally, it took the previous groomer 4 hours to groom her, so I thought that was standard. After our last experience taking her to get groomed, I expected to pick up a crying dog who couldn't wait to go home! However, when we arrived we saw her through the store window and she was wagging her tail as the groomer, Heather, pet her. Heather did such a good job in grooming her and even more importantly, our dog really liked her. They even took a picture of our dog sitting in her lap. It was so cute! I found Kriser's by accident. I'm a new dog mom again, and this time around there are so many holistic options it can be confusing to know what is best for my pup. I have a Cardigan Welsh Corgi mix, and when she had to keep going in every 5 weeks to have anal glands treated, the vet said "that's just the way it is for some dogs". I do not believe that. Look at animals in the wild! I had tried changing her food on my own with no success. Then I found Kriser's. As soon as I described my situation, Jim knew exactly what I was talking about because he'd been through the same thing with his dog. He recommended a specific diet and assured me things would improve over time. Sure enough, my dog went 7 weeks without a vet visit, and we are now at 7 weeks again with no apparent need to go back in for treatment. This is honestly the best place I've been to for both my cat and my doggo. They love seeing my Beni every time he comes in. I took him to get groomed and Heather (I believe) did such a great job and let me know how he behaved and everything. I'm not sure if it's coincidence, but I always walk in when they have some sort of deal going on, even the tiniest of a sale on a treat makes a big difference to me.
