It was late in the day, everything was closing and we found ourselves in one of Morro Bay's older restaurants. Located in the town, proper, so off the tourist trail. And it was Italian, regularly engaged by families. Yes, we were tired, so wife and I had some wine and bruschetta ($9.95). We looked up and found that we were knocking of the door of closing time, but our seasoned waitress told us to just relax and brought more wine. Wife had the meatball entree ($3.95), which was more like an appetizer, but she was happy with it. I had Linguini ($24.95) with white wine and olive oil. It was listed as linguini Vongole White (clams) but the waitress got the kitchen to go with my simple order. A very pleasant end of day and you can tell by the prices why families come here. Very reasonable. I will mention that they pride themselves as having great steaks. Ummmm. We will see. Don't know why Yelp isn't showing me my previous reviews, just prompting me to update. Weird. Anyway, sorry if there is duplication here. I have dined at Distasio's off and on for many years starting when they were down on the Embarcadero, then up on the hill and now up on the Boulevard. I used to get the Chicken Fettucine Alfredo and wasn't impressed by the sauce. Later I started ordering the Tortellini Carbonara, with a cream sauce and little bits of ham and peas. This is my go-to dish now. I also like their mozzarella sticks. I have found their bread options hit and miss, although this last batch of cheese bread was great!! I often order from Door Dash but the last time I went in I couldn't find my tortellini dish. The gal at the restaurant told me it is still there, I will have to look again. Most recently I took some family members to dinner here and they enjoyed their dishes. So, my rating is back up to 4 stars. I will most likely return here, wish they had Gnocchi. read more

I had avoided this place for five years due in part to other reviews, but mostly because the outside is rundown and appears uncared for. Finally decided to try it. Had very low expectations. I'm a fan of spaghetti and meatballs, a simple dish that is not easy to execute perfectly. Their house made meatballs and marinara are superb! Flavorful and tender! Pasta was perfect al dente. Salad plates were chilled (Caesar dressing could use a re-evaluation), entree plates were warmed. Wine selection is limited, but good. Excellent quality food at very reasonable prices. This rating is between a 3 and 4. Ken, the owner is part of the family that owns Rosa's etc. I love Rosa's, the ambiance, food, prices, here is quite different and quiet. I made a reservation and we were seated promptly in a booth. We were given menus, water and bread. Our server was Emily, she answered all our questions and was quite nice. I tried a white wine I didn't care for, so asked for a certain red, they were out of it. Asked for another one, Merlot also out. So picked a Robert Mondavi Merlot and said ok, we would like a bottle. Didn't even look at the bottle at first, then noticed it was a Cab. It was good, but we thought we were drinking a Merlot?? She ended up taking it off the bill but we did not feel comfortable with that so she put it back on. My husband and I both had the nights special, penne, vodka sauce and chicken, it was ok. We both got soup or salad with the dinner picked the salad. Quite good, with cute carrot flower, cucumber etc. Ken the owner was very friendly, talking to us and others. I'll be honest, the name threw me for a loop as I was expecting this place to be by the water - it certainly was not but none the less, it was a cute place, romantic, and pretty quiet but I can also see this place being the hub for family birthdays and friend get togethers as well. There was ample seating inside and outside. We had come on a Saturday night in January and we were seated right away. I noticed there were a few tables with 'reserved' signs on them so during busier months being able to call ahead and have your table reserved is always a plus. All the employees we had the privilege of meeting were lovely and the food was pretty good. My fiancé and I enjoyed both of our pasta dishes, although it was your standard Italian food, a step up from Olive Garden but nothing too spectacular. The bruschetta on the other hand was a must, so delicious! The bread was thick and the mixture was plentiful but you better eat it fast because it did become soggy pretty quickly. We ended our night with a cannoli and again, just your standard cannoli. All in all, I think eating here once was enough but if I'm ever in the area and craving some bruschetta, I know where to go. read more

We were in SLO and driving back to Cambria and decided to have an early dinner In Morro Bay. I was craving Italian and remembered seeing the sign for Distasio's so we headed there. We weren't sure what we would find or how the meal would be. Turns out we had a delicious meal, good service and a nice pleasant dinner. My wife had the chicken marsala and it was very good. She was satisfied and would order it again. I ordered the brociole which is something you typically wouldn't find on an Italian restaurant menu. I had it years ago when a grandmother of a friend made it for a family gathering. This brociole was pretty close to that one from the past. It's a thin piece of pounded beef sirloin and rolled with spices and breadcrumbs, tied together and cooked in a tomato based sauce. The hours of simmering creates a decadent sauce and the meat is extra tender. Wow!!! We had some Chianti and dessert and had a great time. We will definitely be back. It wasn't busy because we were there just after they opened but by the time we left, it was getting busy. I can't wait to go back for more of their simple but delicious food. read more

They only get two stars because the marinara sauce, the basis of italian food, is too tangy and ordinary; it cheapens everything it's on. I taste this exact sauce on fast food from coffee shop grade eateries. So, I say it's probably purchased pre-made from a restaurant supply truck, as many others do. read more

Had some good reviews so wanted to check it out. The service was wait to be seated it wasn't long because it wasn't busy yet. The service was quick and they give you some bread when you sit down. The garlic cheese bread was pretty good and I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. The shrimp was good size wasn't those small shrimp that I seen some use these are a good decent size. This place is awesome! I'm visiting all the way from Long Beach. I'm thankful I came here! Service, food, ambiance were on point. We ordered the Beef Ravioli Con Quattro Formaggio, Caesar salad, and Italian platter with a glass of wine. It was very tasty and I didn't feel super bloated or anything after. Been meaning to try this restaurant for a while and I'm so glad we finally went! The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious. Best restaurant I have ever been to, regarding both service and food. D was an amazing server, so kind and never tried to upsell anything. She is kindhearted and a sweet woman. We actually wanted 3 entrees to share but she recommended 2 entrees and a kids pasta. The ribeye was SO good. Not too much sauce, salt, or anything else. The chicken parm was also amazing. Chicken is thinly cut and moist! This is what I call real and delicious food that doesn't leave you feeling full in a sick way. Let me add that the portions are great- not huge and not stingy. It was clean, well lit (while still having ambiance), and decorated for the holidays-which I adored. Food is always great, we've been coming here for years. The service was horrendous. Waitress threw our plates at us. Other than water and taking our order she never returned. Came here for my birthday dinner with my family last night, and had the most amazing experience. Not only was the food amazing, but our server, Lina, gave us the most phenomenal service. My parents enjoyed the house wine, and to start we got the fried calamari (tubes and tentacles). The calamari itself was delicious, but the marinara stole the show. It was INCREDIBLE. Between the 6 of us, we ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, meat sauce lasagna, meat ravioli, chicken parmigiana, and the ribeye. Every single entree was amazing, we hardly had any leftovers but took them all home with us. Our lovely server recommended the lava cake and it was perfect paired with the vanilla birthday sundae I received. The owner also came in around closing and asked how everything was, which was so awesome. Overall a 10/10 experience and will for sure be back in the future!! I ordered: Chicken Marsala included a small thin chicken cutlet with minimal pasta and taste. Linguine Primavera, minimal vegetables, pasta, and tasteless. Large and crudely chopped pieces of onion have no place in a dish prepared by a professional cook, such as were in two of the dishes tonight. Braciole with minimal pasta and red sauce. This was the only dish that somewhat had flavor, at a cost of $30? They threw in 4 small pieces of some type of underbaked bread that tasted like cardboard. I should have taken pictures.
