Saddle up your horse and head on over - entering Hermosa Inn is taking a step back in time. Some people will have no interest and prefer shiny and new, like all the ritzy boutique hotels popping up all over L.A. I prefer history - this one beginning in the 1930's as an artist's studio & residence (Lon Megargee) which was converted into a small oasis in the desert. All of the rooms, maybe some 40, are bungalows / casitas a short walk to the restaurant and bar (The Last Drop). Rustic, cozy, fireplaces, murals and artwork hang on adobe walls, which transport you back to the Old West. The Last Drop is cut out of a small corner from the main dining room and outdoor patio (wonderful to enjoy outdoor dinning in the cooler months). Bar seating is minimal, maybe 8 stools, but they have another 4 or so bar table-tops, and some casual seating in leather chairs. The interior wafts of fireplace ash and the food being prepared in the kitchen. Mind-blowing. Service is aways outstanding at the bar. Tonight, I started with a Jack Daniels Manhattan - the bar is VERY well stocked with high-end bourbons, whiskeys, scotches and the bartender has a list of specialty drinks as well (try the Little Piggy Sour). I stuck with the classic, JD Manhattan, up. The steak is very good, also have had fish (Pan Roasted Salmon), but went with chicken. TWO-WASH CHICKEN. Absolutely incredible, comes with spinach, poached egg. Ala-carte sides so added Hot Honey Brussels Sprouts, to die for. The closer, get the CHURRO TREE, the sauces are ridiculous. Highly recommend the entire experience if you are in the Pheonix area, or in Scottsdale or Paradise Valley. Guarantee you will not be disappointed. Worth a special trip out of your way. read more

This beautiful lounge is part of the well known Hermosa Inn just down the street from the famous Rocker now Philanthropic Alice Cooper. We were introduced to this venue by our youngest son and wife for their wedding ceremony which was conducted outside in front of their famous tree. The grounds are stunning and beautifully landscaped with nooks and seating. Out of town guests had beautiful Casita rooms with patios that faced the green manicured courtyard. The venues outdoor wedding location accommodated 150 or so guests. The "Lon Last Drop" Lounge is warm and welcoming. The bar and bartending service is friendly and attentive. This is a great place to enjoy drinks, eats, friends and family. Consider a relaxing or romantic Staycation here, you will not be disappointed! Reservations a must. $$/$$$$ read more

Excellent ambiance. Service was marginal empty water, slow drink service, didn't add Grand Marnier for Cadillac margaritas but still tried to charge us for it. Amber told us they "changed" the Grand Marnier to another kind but I'm pretty sure there's only one.... Fried artichokes were not good either. Have been here many times and have been super pleased, but no more. It's lost its luster all the way around... service, drinks and food.... This place is beautiful for outdoor seating in the evenings. Nice touch with the fireplaces and lights. The shrimp tacos were better than I expected. they have various good happy hour options. Usually the service is what you would expect from a nice place like this one, but this time it was... Odd. Everyone seemed very distracted. We had other orders come to our table like 3 times... They were not prompt worth refills, etc. I hope they are doing OK and is not that the staff had gotten bad news or something... We enjoyed a two night staycation at the Hermosa Inn during July and only left or room to eat in the restaurant or hang at Lon's Last Drop. The rustic Spanish western vibes are welcoming and comfortable. The dark brooding lighting goes perfectly with an Old Fashioned. The first night, we were the only patrons bellied up to the bar for pre-dinner drinks and the bartender said it was on the house. The next night, we sipped after dinner drinks in a full bar, and the atmosphere was charming. We ended each night by being sunk into the big leather chairs with a book and a cocktail before heading back to our casita. Lon's Last Drop makes for a nice getaway during your resort stay but would also be a nice stop for any evening, even if not staying on the grounds. read more

I have been wanting to come here for years and finally broke down to visit today on my birthday after hearing what a great Happy Hour they have. And indeed it is. I almost hate to write this review because I don't want it to get too busy. Ha! Heavens what an awesome happy hour and piece of AZ history. The Hermosa Inn is a hidden gem. Do a quick walk around the property before you enter and then check out the wine cellar if you visit. It was too hot to sit outside but the patio is lovely. The food was simply amazing and the drinks are delish. We got several small plates, to include the wings, The parmesan fries, the red pepper hummus, the wine and app board combo and the Lon's candy bar for dessert. Ryan also threw in a small birthday flourless cake topped with the most amazing Black Berrries I have ever had. There was a lit candle on top, which was a nice touch, and thank God no singing, so points for that. Teehee! I cannot remember the last time I had a candle topped birthday cake. The prices are very reasonable for the food you get and the quality. The service was amazing. Enjoy and I will be back soon. read more

Happy Hour hidden gem! Who knew that the Hermosa Inn even offered Happy Hour?! I guess the only downside is the valet parking, but still! Lots of great deals here. We ordered the hummus with fried pita bread and it was delicious! A total steal at $5. We also tried some of the "draft" cocktails. The Moscow Mule was refreshing, and I loved the slight taste of cinnamon in it. They also offer some draft wines (interestingly, which are not available in the main dining room). Service was efficient and friendly. A couple of TVs are on as well as bar seating. This isn't a huge space and I could imagine a pre-dinner crowd taking over the space, but if you can show up earlier (HH starts at 4:00), you would love this. Lon's and Lon's Last Drop have been on our radar for years and yesterday the planets were aligned perfectly for a visit. The Hermosa Inn is a gorgeous property lined with flowers and impeccable landscaping. The patio at LLD has big fireplaces, rustic furniture, and comfy couches for cocktails with friends. All the people we met were super nice and very proud of the facility. The house cocktail list is extensive and the hooch is top shelf. I had a Whistlepig Hogwash to start and it was a well designed and executed cocktail. All of the cocktails and beer we had were great. The food was less than stellar and that is a kind way of putting it. We started with the Lamb Meatball appetizer. It is served on what appears to be flatbread, but ours had the consistency of broken glass. If you touched it, it would shatter into a bazillion pieces. The meatballs themselves were overcooked and then cooked again for good measure. A meatball should be tender and yield to the side of a fork. These were like the rubber super balls I had when I was a kid. I actually considered trying to bounce one of them on the table, but the place was too nice for that kind of tomfoolery. The waitress removed the meatballs and we ordered club sandwiches. They came out really dark and it was the same story as the flat bread. We couldn't eat the bread because it was so hard with sharp edges. Dinner should not cause pain. We ate the insides of the sandwiches and enjoyed the fries. The manager came to our table without us having to ask. She knew the food was under par and removed it from the bill. This is what makes the review difficult. Our service was excellent. The food was well designed with good ingredients. It was just executed horribly. That is why I am giving Lon's a pass with four stars. Good service can overcome poor food and that is what happened last night. We will try again because we were treated very well. read more

Lon's Last Drop is SO dreamy!! It is the perfect spot to grab Happy Hour and sit on their gorgeous patio in the cooler months or an after dinner drink inside their bar in the summer. It is so cozy and romantic, perfect for date night! They have incredible traditional cocktails along with some creative house signature cocktails. My husband and I popped in for after dinner drinks on our Wednesday date night and I had a Lemon Drop Martini, along with one of their signature cocktails that was a mix of tequila, grapefruit, and Serrano pepper. It had the perfect kick and was SO delish! We also tried their traditional Mai Tai and holy heaven, i'm usually not a Mai Tai gal but I could drink these on the regular! Dined here during our stay at the Hermosa Inn (which we highly recommend). We were looking for vegetarian options and opted for Lon's Last Drop. The food we ordered was pretty standard--the tortilla chips trio, empanadas and vegetarian version of their tacos and a margherita pizza. The chips were pretty good and came with queso (delicious), guacamole (lacked salt and flavor), and salsa (also lacked salt and flavor). We added salt to the guac and salsa but somehow still tasted a little bland. But the chips and queso were delicious! The empanadas were probably my favorite with sweet potato and pepper jack cheese. The vegetarian version of the tacos tasted more like a salad than anything; would've been better with potatoes or anything else. The pizza was decent! It had been a year since we last visited. The Hermosa Inn has that Boutique Hotel flair making you feel at home. Yesterday we started our day there with lunch in the patio. I had a Cobb salad, a perfect lunch considering we were going to have a very busy day and evening. Our small party ordered a myriad of other lunch items. All was excellent. I would like to add that we were scheduled to have a catered lunch on site. We walked by it a few minutes prior to lunch time. Our buffet was set up on long banquet tables topped with sandwiches. Fruits etc. Unfortunately flies were attacking the food. We opted not to eat our catered lunch for this reason. The majority of our group didnt see what we saw. read more

Simply surreal. The natural beauty of the mountainous, desert landscape juxtaposed with flawless old western decor meshed to create a setting that looked straight from television or the silver screen. The multiple fire pits, as well as the stage with the very entertaining musical cowboy was too legit. It was too pristine and well-executed to actually be just an ordinary day at Last Drop. I admired this very much to and from the bar indoors. Inside, the theme carries on quite superbly, even with the narrow little bar in the corner. This is where the magic happens. I opened my evening with the house Cabernet as I perused the app menu. It was worth every penny for the $6 glass, and I would have easily paid more in a place like this. Me and my dining buddy went for the groovy "trio" special, in which we enjoy three miniature sets of appetizers to get a feel for what this place is all about. We enjoyed: Cheese croquettes: Nice and dry when I expected them to be greasy. Flavorful. The sauce they were immersed in was delicious, and if you gave me a large plate of these and a bottle of wine, I would be a happy camper. Stuffed peppers: I found the goat cheese rather mild, and the prosciutto surprisingly too faint to contrast well with the sweetness of the pepper, but it was still refreshing. Almost palate cleansing. Duck confit empanadas: I usually don't enjoy duck, and because I find them adorable, I'm partial to poultry alternatives. All of that has changed thanks to these morsels, which I will undoubtedly order on my next visit. Despite being obviously prepared in advance (they come out FAST!), I had zero doubts of the quality of ingredients. I am fully confident in their kitchen, and can't wait to try some entrees. I concluded my short visit with a concoction of mango syrup, mescal, and Fresno peppers. It was sweet, spicy, and smoky. I loved it. "Don't get attached" they warned, as the drink selection is liable to change quite often. While I may not be able to order that again, I will certainly return for many more suppers. read more

We did the gin mixology class and I have to say that Travis (our bartender/cocktail historian/overall creator of awesomeness in a glass) is a rock star. The handouts were great. They provided a great history of gin along with information about a number of the shots we tasted. They were also chock full of recipes. The drinks he made for the class were fabulous. We lingered a bit post-class for munchies and more cocktails. He makes a very mean lemon drop. He is extremely knowledgeable and obviously has a love of his craft. I am so dissatisfied. Several weeks ago i was here with my boss and service was superb, as you would expect. I brought my daughters who were visiting from out of town and frankly had the poorest customer service I have had in a very long time. We sat for a long time without being noticed. Drinks finally came and we waited and waited for service again. French fries were cold. No one came to take any finished plates, pour water, or bring us the tab until we flagged them down. A small group of us have tried their 1st Tuesday of the month complimentary wine tastings.(from 5pm to 7pm) Check to see if they are doing this. We tried them in August and October of this year. The wines that were offered were Dr Loosen from Germany? and Craggy Range from New Zealand. They offer a discount if you buy a bottle. The Tuesday night Happy Hour special is a changing flavor of slider,($2)they are very good had 1 each time. I also like their truffle fries. They have a beer special also on Tuesdays for $3. I had a white chocolate one that was delicious. I have also shared a pizza-big enough to do if you have a slider first and fries(shared). Happy Hour is every day from 4pm to 7pm,but I only see specials M-F. They probably have specials on the weekend? We ate inside both times but the patio looks great. Not only will I not return to Lons but the spa at the Hermosa Inn has also lost a client. My time is apparently not valued By this organization. Too many other great options in the Valley. read more

I'm not a big drinker. When I go to a bar it's usually to unwind at the end of the day and sit with some friends. A lot of bars (you know who you are) just aren't meant for either unwinding or talking; they're too noisy and uncomfortable. Last Drop fits the bill for me perfectly. Like everything at Hermosa Inn, it's well appointed and the service is spot-on. I should warn you that it's also a bit pricey but it's one of those "you get what you pay for" sort of things. If you're hungry they offer food with a special each evening. They also have a selection of what I call "fancy drinks", wine, beer, etc. And, of course, the bartenders will make whatever you ask them to mix up for you. Seating is plentiful and, if the weather is nice, you can take your drink out to the patio and relax with your friends. read more

I don't typically give 5 stars on a first visit, but this place was very impressive (and I've had their food at many a food event, so fairly sure it is legit delish). The husband and I went here before getting dinner on our one year anniversary (we were in the area early and decided to drop by). We only had drinks, but the food specials looked great... burgers on special on Fridays, tacos on Thurs... lots of good sounding specials. Anyway, The bartender was nice and helpful. I ended up getting the peach smash, which had bourbon, peach, house made blackberry syrup (made fresh daily), and ginger... this drink was legit... one of the tastiest drinks I've had in awhile.
