Yeah, they can be a bit hit and miss sometimes, but I wouldn't go so far as to say they are as crap as some of the reviews here... Apart from the steak comment, it is kinda meh for a steakhouse. A few years ago I had 3 beers tipped in my lap by an unco waitress. It think she was trying to find the quickest route to my pee pee by cutting out the middle man. They seem to mainly hire teens, so service is either over enthusiasm or slight disinterest... Kinda funny either way. But it hasn't stopped us from coming back. The staff that have been here for ages are always really good too. El Burrito (chicken one) is nice Chicken crepe is nice Weiner schnitzel and chicken one is nice Sizzling Fajitas are nice Tried the entree special - Butter chicken... And I can make a better one from scratch to be honest, but it was ok. They have a Broncos card for $40 for a year which gives you one meal free, and other deals, so it works out way cheaper than eating at somewhere like Maccas. So, leave high expectations at the door and leave afterwards with a full belly. 4 stars from me, don't be put off by the slightly harsh reviews.

But seriously - who does that in Pukekohe? This isn't anywhere close to the city where it's pretty much expected now. I decided to stick with a classic steak, with onion crisps and béarnaise sauce washed down with a nice glass of red wine! I was told it was pretty decent and not to worry about getting an entrée. When the main arrived, I was not left disappointed by not ordering the entree, the main itself is a whole meal. I found the steak to be cooked quite nicely, medium rare. The béarnaise sauce suited the steak excellently... the only let down was the onion crisps, I say crisps because according to their menu it's suppose to be onion rings... but these were cooked well past that stage. Some tasted nice other tasted like burnt crisps you get at the bottom of a roast. Not entirely a bad thing! Even though the place was obviously busy it didn't feel like we were being pressured to hurry up and leave so they could turn the table over for the next group. The wait for our food was fairly average for the size and for the crowd, a busy place means a busy kitchen 35 mins - 45min. There are three places in Pukekohe that now specialise in Steaks. I'm having a really hard time to differentiate them. Each have their own sense of style and do the basics well, which is all a steak lover really wants. For this reason.. Courtney was a great server and so was the hostess. We ordered their garden salad and onion rings for starters then chicken saltimbocca and roasted lamb for entrees. The chicken was wrapped in prosciutto with sage, white wine, mozzarella, potato purée and greens. The lamb was served with a tomato and couscous ragout, whipped feta, greens and lemon aioli. Everything was delicious. Parking was extremely difficult to find. Hopefully our car won't be towed because we parked in an iffy space. .

Our server, Erin was top notch. She was delightful, extremely helpful going over the menu and checked on us often. The steaks were heavenly and we highly recommend the chipotle hollandaise sauce. The potato puree and Mac n cheese were delicious. If we ever return or visit New Zealand this place will definitely see us again. We were very satisfied with our experience.

The burgers are extremely yummy and the steak well made on the hot stones. Nothing really distinguishes this place from other steakhouses, but at the same time, nothing makes it bad either. It's a good, but too easily forgotten experience. Maybe if they had more themed decor, themed western nights where you wear cowboy hats, or even half price Tuesdays, you'd remember this place as something special?
