If you like a traditional Texas cafe, this is good value for your buck, here. Tasty food, large portions, moderately priced. (Former location of the Texas Grill.) The Possums have visited a couple three times now and recommend the CFS for sure. The mashed potatoes are real, with lumps of real potato to prove it. The CFS is a real steak inside a crispy crust. I had pintos as a side, and they were ok, not awful, not stellar. The only drawback (CAUTION: Heresy ahead) was that there was *too much gravy*. I know! Who would ever think those words could come out of my mouth, without lightning striking my little possum head? But, yeah, it kinda overwhelmed the CFS. Ask for the gravy on the side and problem solved. Mr Possum had a well-made burger, and the side of onion rings took up more than half the plate. We saw a tiny little church lady wrapping herself around a big plate of yummy-looking fried catfish, so we plan to try that next time. This place is nothing fancy from the outside but the food is pretty good! Menu consists of American food and the portions are very generous. My daughter said they gave her too many fries at least 3 times which I said was not a bad thing. read more

A another one of my go-to places with the little sis. Huge portions, fun service, laid back atmosphere. We usually go with wings and chicken tenders. The Mac-n-cheese is creamy and luscious. It could use some extra salt-n-pepper but it's darn near cheesy perfection. Cold beer is always a plus and on a slow night you can have some great convo with the bartender! Our first time in and first impression was the restaurant is not well taken care of and dirty. We decided to give them a chance since a neighbor recommended them. Well our food came and my husbands chicken fried steak had a long black hair stuck in it, he tried to remove it but it broke off and had to cut it out- strike two. I had the fried catfish and it tasted like burnt oil instead of fish, which tells me the kitchen isn't well taken care of either. strike 3- we're out- left all the food on the table. Stopped in after church with a plan to get the chicken fried steak but saw the burgers on the grill and went that way instead. I got the patty melt with grilled jalapeños, tater tots and tea and everything was perfect. Some friends we were with got onion rings and they were some of the best onion rings I have ever had. The food was delicious. I had chicken fried steak with cream gravy, which came with toast and two sides. I chose creamed spinach and sweet glazed carrots. My daughter had a mushroom swiss burger and sweet potato fries. My husband had chicken fried chicken with toast, mashed potatoes and potato salad. The decor was western with a few trophy heads and booties. The music was old country, heavy on Willie, Waylon and the boys. I loved it and will be back on my next trip to Fort Worth. read more

We have just moved to the area and are not familiar with all the restaurants. The Lone Star Cafe popped up on Yelp, so we gave it a try. The BLT caught our eye with an advertised ten pieces of bacon! I ordered that with an order of onion rings to go. While waiting I looked around and it looks like a Texas Cafe, I guess? Deer heads on the walls and dear butts as well! I got my order and headed to the new house. Ok, the food: BLT- ten pieces of bacon that tasted like it was cooked in the fryer oil, not right. One sad little piece of lettuce. Two slices of tomato, one was the butt end with the core attached, not good eats! The onion rings, barf! A globby mess with most of the batter missing leading to mushy onions. We ate a few. But that's as far as we could go! We've found there is a Cracker Barrel not to far away. That's were we will go from now on. Lone Star Cafe had the their LONE chance at any repeat business! Love this place! The building and decor definitely could use some updating but the food is always good. I worked here about 20 years ago as a teenager when it was under different management and love that the food has stayed the same over the years. My favorite is the chicken kebabs so it's hard to get anything else but everything we have tried has always been good. Large portions and great prices! read more

The Lone Star is a great short order cafe. The hamburgers are great. The french fries and onion rings would be the best in the area. Their lunches are generous portions. From the outside, it doesn't seem too appealing but I came here because it was a quick lunch. Inside, its cute and small. I tried their avocado burger and sweet potato fries and I loved it! It was cheap and the portion was huge! It tasted authentic and everything was real, not like usual fast food burgers and fries. Im really excited to come back and try something else. The food here is impeccable. I had and would recommend the Queso Chicken. As a rule I have the cole slaw when I try new places. This is some of the best. You will not be disappointed with the food or service. This a mom and pop type of place so I didn't expect an extravagant setting but I was slightly disappointed as it appeared they had some storage items at the front of the store. I used to like this place I loved the chicken fried steak and sides and the burgers were great. But I have been back twice, today and once last week and will never go back again. The chicken fried steak needs to be served with a set of pliers to pull the blood vessels out of the steak I guess they just over looked them, and ham burger had no taste the tomatoes were end pieces that should have tossed out when slicing the tomato and it had no taste at all and the people seem as dumb as a door handle or they would not serve food like that and think you are going to like it and come back. I love the food, and the close knit family that runs the place is awesome and down to earth, like all close knit families. All the negative reviews are from high maintenance people I always call out on here and definitely will call them out in person. I love eating at this location. The burgers especially will put any other location to shame. Less then 5.00 for a burger with so many choices and these easily can be shared. My husband especially loves the fried catfish. No complaints at all. I can easily feed 4 people for less then 25.00 and come out with food to take home.
