My family & I came here on a Friday around 6pm and we only waited for a table for about 10 minutes. I tried calling to make a reservation but they said they don't take them. They had the best filet mignon I've ever had at a restaurant. I tried my families steaks and they were good too, just not as good as mine. The filet was priced very low for a filet too. They brought plenty of rolls for the table and even some to go. Our waitress was attentive, refilling all of our drinks, making sure we had everything we needed throughout dinner. I was also given a free birthday desert for my birthday (the brownie) and it was so delicious and fudgy. She gave us all spoons to share. Great meal & perfect for any size party! read more

We went to Hoffbrau's on our way home after an exhausting day at the Fort Worth Main Street Art Festival. A cold frozen margarita never tasted so good! We were quickly seated & served by a wonderful waitress named Tawania (sp?). She provided very pleasant, efficient service & as usual the food was delicious, especially the Brau Chips appetizer which we quickly devoured. Our steaks were done to perfection although my grilled salmon was done to medium even though I had requested it rare. However, it was still moist & had a very good flavor. (I've never understood why most restaurant chefs are reluctant to serve rare salmon.) But having been a frequent customer at Hoffbrau's we will continue to go there regularly for the delicious food & exceptional service. Ate here one other time and knew I would get the same level of service and delicious food as before. Our server was wonderful! We were not in any hurry but were never ignored. Our server checked on us at the appropriate times and was never a bother. First was an appetizer of onion rings. They were the string kind, which were okay. Then I ordered the spicy chicken fried steak. Yes, it was both heat and spicy hot. Be prepared! To my pleasant surprise, I never had to ask for a water refill. (Due to health reasons, my doctor insists on lots of water consumption.) For dessert, I had the cherry cobbler. Everything came out in a timely manner. By the way, the CFS was part of the lunch special. It came with a side salad and one side, and I chose the three-cheese macaroni and cheese. Absolutely amazing service and food. Let me start with the bread....sooo good and fresh! I ordered a Bone in Rib-eye, medium. Side ordered of Pan Seared Shrimp, grilled corn on the cob and a baked potato. The shrimp were seasoned to pure perfection. Devine. The steak was cooked perfectly and tender. The corn on the cob was sooo good and potato was cooked perfectly. My sis had the NY Strip and it wonderful. She just kept bragging. Her salad was equally as good and like me loved the corn. The food was only so so. We both got burgers. Nothing spectacular and lately we have been comparing restaurant to Cheddars. Was it more expensive than Cheddars? Yes. Were the burgers as good? No. Did we have to drive further to get to it? Yes, twenty miles further. I liked this place at the old location better but then that was, what? Fifteen years ago? Evening out with friends for dinner and decided to try Hoffbrau again. It's a nice restaurant with an inviting interior and they were fairly busy when we arrived. We were seated promptly and server checked with us promptly. She was efficient and attentive throughout the meal. Even with them being busy, food was served with very little waiting. Food was good. Fresh salads, good appetizers, tasty steak and burger were cooked correctly, the grilled chicken was good, and so was the revolver chicken fried steak. Just a heads up, the revolver jalapeño gravy is not subtle. It has a definite kick. The jalapeños a friend added to his burger were so hot he ended up scraping them off. My only complaint is the table size for 4 people. To be fair, we had two appetizers, adult beverages and waters, along with our salads and entrees. We were constantly juggling dishes and stacking things to make room just to fit everything on our table. This meal overall was a solid 4 stars with the steak and maybe the chicken being 5 stars. So, I wish I could give 4.5 stars. However, it was such an improvement over the last meal I reviewed from them that I'm giving them kudos for showing me that tonight they were a really good place to eat. The service is poor for one. The host was rude and not welcoming, server was short tempered and food was probably the worst food I have had in the longest time. Feels like a neighborhood eatery. I wasn't expecting much from this place, but it's actually a really good spot to eat when you don't know where to eat. I had the country fried steak (the revolver) and my husband had the smoked sirloin. Both were really good, dare I say that the sirloin was better here than at H3. The server forgot some things, like my lemon in my water and ranch, but these are just small things. No big deal. The host was super polite. He was arranging tables and seats for a larger party next to our table. He literally sat at the seat closest to me just to make sure that person would have enough room and I would have enough room. He even asked if it would bother me if the seat was positioned this way. The seat wasn't close at all, but he was so considerate of my space. Highly recommend this place! Stopped in after a failed fishing trip to get some soothing comfort food. Right off the highway and easy access to get a bite and go. We settled on burgers and a beer. The waitstaff were helpful, especially with getting our orders exactly the way we wanted. I am not sure why bbq sauce on burgers is all the rage, but I don't like it. Anyway, they made sure it was far away from my burger. The burgers were excellent and the beer was cold! Been going to Hoffbrau since I was a kid with my parents. They closed the one we always went to back then and I hadn't been for many many years. Fast forward 12+ years and we were looking for a steak house close to where we live now with reasonable prices and the hubs recommended Hoffbrau. I said heck yes! We've now visited this location several times. Food is always on point and service is good but can be slow when they are busy, which is to he expected. This trip, the kiddo requested Hoffbrau for his birthday lunch - so of course we had to oblige! The brau chips are a must, always. We added the queso this time, but I do prefer it with their house made ranch instead. Kid ordered the Sal's ribeye with mac n cheese and mashed potatoes. Hubs ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and mac n cheese. I ordered the rainy's salad with grilled chicken. Everything was fantastic as always! However, the price of steak I would say is on the high side for what you get. It was almost $30, while very good, it was thin....yes, I know it was a 10oz, but still pricy. The salad was $16 and could have had more chicken, but it was still good. Steakhouses in general aren't necessarily cheap, so people should understand that when visiting. We did fill up on the chips and had to take most of our food to go, but at least we have a snack for later! read more

I asked the waitress if ppl liked this particular meal, prior! It was a pathetic looking piece of beef. I thought we got what we paid 4. Apparently, not. Not enjoyable at all 2 consume. Wasn't given any cutlery with my take out. Didn't have zero sugar soda. I didn't have 2 wait long 4 service or my menu items despite it being busy. That's my only compliment. My wife, child and I came here for lunch after church. To begin with the host told my wife she could not bring her water in the restaurant , which we understand but it could have been more pleasantly said. Barbie our server was great as she made sure for her part our dining experience was pleasant though, unfortunately our food came 40 minutes after we ordered. Nothing really special on our order. The steaks were flavorless. Even though we ordered medium rare, the coffee rubbed ribeye was medium well and was tasteless. There was a total of 4 shrimps on the shrimp salad and both salads were akin to a to-go salad from a grocery store. The bread was delicious though and they made good croutons. We had a group of 10 and they kept with everyone's food and drink really well. Nice service. Good rolls. Food was good maybe a hair salty but wasn't bland but overall a really good experience. I decided on the the chicken fried steak, added roasted corn on the cob and cheddar jalapeño soup. Gravy on the side. This has been the best cfs I've had here in Fort Worth. If anyone knows a better one let me know!! The cheddar jalapeño soup was really good!!! The corn was pretty good. The service was great. The chili looked pretty good. I will definitely eat here again. The Dr Pepper bbq sauce sounds interesting. The other food coming out looked pretty tasty. It's worth the stop if you're down that way. read more

My mom and I got dinner to go. I got the chicken fried steak, it was not good at all! The meat wasn't good and the seasoning and batter weren't good. I could only eat a few bites, it was that bad. Mashed potatoes, toast and gravy were also bad, couldn't eat those either. Salad wasn't great. I only gave it 2 stars because my mom got the fried chicken salad and liked it. We got the fried mushrooms, which were good but got very soggy by the time we got home because of condensation in to go container. Not sure how you fix that, maybe a liner in the container. CFS was also a little soggy from condensation. I definitely won't do to go again! read more

I came in from out of state and decided to try something local. I stopped by this steak house which was a few minutes from my hotel, and I was seated by the kind hostess however I ended up on the bar anyways. It was a slow day for them so I figured I would get my food and head out. I sat on the bar for a good 10-15 minutes without at least having my drink order taken. I finally was able to order my dinner and being the first one at the bar, I would assume to get my food and head out first... well, other patrons sat at the bar shortly after and eventually they got their dinners out first and I still was waiting on my appetizer. After another 15-20 minutes, I finally got my entree... and after finishing my entree, I got my appetizer. I personally think the staff should at least acknowledge someone that there is a customer that exists when seating at the bar. I really like the environment, I really liked the food but it wasn't a good experience, I felt forgotten. read more

One of my favorite places for chicken fried steak & gravy. It's a favorite dish of mine, but I'm very particular about it, not many places get it right, Hoffbrau does! As I'm a regular at the Hoffbrau on University I had to check out their newest location, just off of I-20 in Benbrook to ensure all was up to snuff. Quick answer - all is well! We popped in on a Wednesday night at 7p and there was a line out the door. So clearly Benbrook has been starving - literally and figuratively- for a place like this to open up. Crowds aside, the new venue is spacious and while it lacks some of the dingy charm of the Univ location, it's brighter and has the Hoffbrau charm and feel. As for crowd management, they're still working out the kinks and the crazy heat didn't help, as the patio was too warm for most and meant that the indoor/outdoor bar setup was closed to keep the interior cool. We hawked for a seat at the bar instead of waiting the 30 minutes for a table to open up. Mikaela took great care of us and the food was absolutely on par with the delicious fare I'm used to, right down to the house salad with olives. Our dinners came out with usual Hoffbrau expediency although I know some of the bar tables behind us had waited longer due to kitchen backups. We'll be back, Hopefully to try out the patio.
