    Lunch strip steak and fries

Hoffbrau is a great everyday steakhouse. The ambiance is a Texan Steakhouse, open, high ceilings, lots of wood. The service is great. Today our server was training someone, and she was kind and patient, while making sure all the correct questions were asked. The food was delicious, everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Overall, it's a family favorite and we will be back.

Had dinner with the family to celebrate the father n laws birthday. Appetizers were fried pickles, shiner bock fried mushrooms, Aaron's famous brau chips and Texas Pesos (jalapeños). Me and my son ordered the Texas Two Step (Two top sirloin steaks served on bed of grilled onions, topped with fried onion strings) for my two sides, I had the house salad with ranch and the sweet potato fries. Services was beyond perfect and the restaurant vibe was lowkey quiet and not too loud.

Ate here one other time and knew I would get the same level of service and delicious food as before. Our server was wonderful! We were not in any hurry but were never ignored. Our server checked on us at the appropriate times and was never a bother. First was an appetizer of onion rings. They were the string kind, which were okay. Then I ordered the spicy chicken fried steak. Yes, it was both heat and spicy hot. Be prepared! To my pleasant surprise, I never had to ask for a water refill. (Due to health reasons, my doctor insists on lots of water consumption.) For dessert, I had the cherry cobbler. Everything came out in a timely manner. By the way, the CFS was part of the lunch special. It came with a side salad and one side, and I chose the three-cheese macaroni and cheese. (Temperature was a little lukewarm but delicious nonetheless.) overall, my friend and I had a great experience in eating here. The premises were also clean and well maintained. Check it out!

Happy New Year! What a treat! Happen to be out running errands and YELPED good steaks near us and this wonderful Restaurant came up. What a great way to kick off the new year. Absolutely amazing service and food. Let me start with the bread....sooo good and fresh! I ordered a Bone in Rib-eye, medium. Side ordered of Pan Seared Shrimp, grilled corn on the cob and a baked potato. The shrimp were seasoned to pure perfection. Devine. The steak was cooked perfectly and tender. The corn on the cob was sooo good and potato was cooked perfectly. My sis had the NY Strip and it wonderful. She just kept bragging. Her salad was equally as good and like me loved the corn. To kick off the new year they were serving lil cups of black eye peas and boy oh boy were they tasty. YUM. Talk about luck. Our waitress, Taylor was super attentive and so sweet.

Evening out with friends for dinner and decided to try Hoffbrau again. It's a nice restaurant with an inviting interior and they were fairly busy when we arrived. We were seated promptly and server checked with us promptly. She was efficient and attentive throughout the meal. Even with them being busy, food was served with very little waiting. Food was good. Fresh salads, good appetizers, tasty steak and burger were cooked correctly, the grilled chicken was good, and so was the revolver chicken fried steak. Just a heads up, the revolver jalapeño gravy is not subtle. It has a definite kick. The jalapeños a friend added to his burger were so hot he ended up scraping them off. My only complaint is the table size for 4 people. To be fair, we had two appetizers, adult beverages and waters, along with our salads and entrees. We were constantly juggling dishes and stacking things to make room just to fit everything on our table. This meal overall was a solid 4 stars with the steak and maybe the chicken being 5 stars. So, I wish I could give 4.5 stars. However, it was such an improvement over the last meal I reviewed from them that I'm giving them kudos for showing me that tonight they were a really good place to eat. So, 5 stars for today's dinner.

Feels like a neighborhood eatery. I wasn't expecting much from this place, but it's actually a really good spot to eat when you don't know where to eat. I had the country fried steak (the revolver) and my husband had the smoked sirloin. Both were really good, dare I say that the sirloin was better here than at H3. The server forgot some things, like my lemon in my water and ranch, but these are just small things. No big deal. The host was super polite. He was arranging tables and seats for a larger party next to our table. He literally sat at the seat closest to me just to make sure that person would have enough room and I would have enough room. He even asked if it would bother me if the seat was positioned this way. The seat wasn't close at all, but he was so considerate of my space. Highly recommend this place! So much so that we went here twice in a row.

If you get the burger, get the double. The patty was thin. I think the Hawaiian roll made it sweet. If you like sweet burgers, you may enjoy it more than I did. I also bought the "world famous" Swiss pastry shop Black Forest cake. Evidently I've never had their Black Forest cake because it was horrible. Black forest cake is supposed to be chocolate with cherries. The cake was white with cool whip. But here's the big issue - it was dried out and hard. The guy behind the counter told me it was frozen. This cake was not hard from being frozen. I asked several questions about the type and quality. I'm surprised he didn't offer a refund. Not worth $6.50. Not sure I'll go back again.

Food: 5 stars Service: 4 stars…read moreAtmosphere: 4 stars Prices: OUCH! Why this has such a low review is a mystery to me. Everything is really very nice and top notch. We stopped in because we were craving steaks, tho this isn't your run of the mill steak joint. This is a more upscale restaurant, from the ambience, to the decor, to the service, the especially the types of meats that are served. To start, the steaks, most of them, are aged 28 days. So these are the kind you find at other locations that cut, chill/freeze, and serve relatively quick. The aging room is on site, so you can see the meats being aged and made ready for the restaurant side. There is a deli attached that serves sandwiches during the day. We didn't try that side, but the waitress did take us there to show us the area, which at the time we arrived, it was closed. We did see that they serve Boars Head meats for their deli side, as well as some of their own aged meats. Walking in, it's all done up very nicely. You are immediately met by the hostess at entry. Here we learned that they do take reservations. We arrived around 1600 time frame and it wasn't busy, so we did get seated quickly. So, we learned they take reservations, which when we heard that at the hostess counter, we immediately knew this wasn't going to be a standard priced steak house. When we sat down and saw the menus, it was confirmed. Sticker shock is putting it lightly. We've had $50 steaks that didn't taste any different than going to Golden Coral where they can be $20 or less. The steaks on average are $100, give or take. Now, in fairness, add to the cost that they have some specialized meats AND they are aged, I understand the higher prices. Tho it was still an eye opener at first. Despite the prices, we stayed because we wanted to experience the dry aged meats and see why they cost so much, more to the point, to see what the cost to taste ratio was. Allow me to say that we were extremely surprised and absolutely not disappointed. To start we arrived at the back end of the lunch period. Tho we were given the dinner menu. I believe we arrived just before 1600, so that makes sense. We ordered water and the Rosemary bread to start. When our waitress returned, her name was Depp, a very wonderful woman, she had the dinner chef's type of jacket on, rather than the lunch apron. At this point we learned that they have a Brunch menu, a Lunch menu, and then a Dinner menu. The rosemary bread with sea salt came out and we ordered drinks. The rosemary bread was amazing! The rosemary on top was fresh and didn't taste like it was out of a jar that was dried months ago. It was super soft and a lot larger than either of us expected. $12 for the bread, and it was worth every penny. It comes with three butter flavors, Sea Salt, German Mustard, and Maple. The German mustard has horse radish seeds or something that makes it zesty. I really liked it. The maple was too sweet for me, but my wife said it reminded her of honey butter. The sea salt one was decent, the butter was whipped and didn't have a hard butter taste, but the sea salt added to the taste. It was wicked good. My wife had a drink called the French Diplomat. Very cucumber flavored. Very good. We had the Bone In Ribeye and the Prime Rib. Both were very, very good. Now, the Ribeye is dry aged 28 days, the Rib Eye is not. Ribeye, 22 oz, $75, was seasoned with just salt and pepper, it was charred perfectly and still very much pink on the inside. It was so soft you could almost cut it with a fork only. It was very soft and juicy, so juicy I'd suck the juices out of the meat because it was so good. The Prime Rib, 16 oz, $71, larger than expected, soft enough for a fork, and lot so Au Jus. We learned that their Au Jus is made in house from the trimmings from the aged steaks, made into their own tallow, than made as the Au Jus. It was really good. The Yorkshire pudding that comes with it was new to use, as it's not a pudding, it's a bread that soaks up the Au Jus, thus, I guess, resembling pudding softness. It was a nice touch, it tasted good, tho was not really for me. Now, the rub here, is the steak plates listed are just for the steaks. Sides are Ala carte and not included. This is a first for us, a different experience for sure. The Potato Au Gratin was recommended, my wife loved it, it was ok with it. Didn't have the harder potato flavor that I like, and the cheese, tho real cheese and not some sauce that's added, didn't have a sharp taste to it. It was slightly bland for me. The Brussel Sprouts, this was absolutely amazing! Full of flavor and the garlic chili sauce that was on top, top notch, it was a mouthwash! This I will definitely get again. Grilled, slightly charred, with bacon and red pepper, it was great! A fun thing, they put your food in boxes for you, a nice touch at the end of a fantastic dinner, and they hang it on a rack.

We had a reservation for 7:30 and were seated a few minutes after we checked in. Right as we sat down, we were given water and garnishes (choice from cucumber, lemon, basil, lime). This is the first time I've ever had this option, and it felt very elegant. We were also given complimentary scones and rose tea to start off. The scone definitely had a kick to it, and the tea was delicious. This was a great way to start the dining experience. We ordered the artichoke and caramelized onion dip for an appetizer. It wasn't anything special in my opinion, but my sister's boyfriend said those were the best chips he's ever had. For mains, I ordered the chicken schnitzel, which was delicious. The salad it came with was so flavorful. My dad ordered the tenderloin filet, which he said was too salty. My mom ordered the seabass (a special, so not on the menu), which was a favorite across the table. My sister ordered the agnolotti, which was perfectly cheesy and delicious. Her boyfriend ordered the bucatini, which he said was one of the best pastas he's ever had. We shared a side of potatoes, which wasn't anything special in my opinion (but I'm not a fan of potatos in general). An order does come with 3 potatoes, but since we were a party of 5, they brought out 2 complimentary extra potatoes. This was such a thoughtful touch so that we could all try a potato! For dessert, we ordered the sticky toffee pudding, which was okay. Our server was incredibly knowledgable about the menu and explained the specials in great detail. The service was very timely. In terms of parking, there's valet available. I unfortunately am not sure what self-parking looks like, but there are a few garages and street parking close by. Overall, I highly recommend Chumley House. Very pricey but worth it for a special occasion. This was definitely an elevated dining experience I will never forget!
