So on Sunday we headed out and found that the place was turned into a bed & breakfast. We drove by and noticed Urban Herbal. What we didn't know was that the owner (William Varney) sold the herb farm back in 2007 but had some land adjacent to it and opened up Urban Herbal in 2010. I know that mid-February is not the time to visit if you want to see the garden in it's full glory, however the gift shop & labyrinth makes it worth the trip. We parked in the private lot and headed towards the garden where we were warmly greeted by William. He escorted us to his gift shop and I was so amazed at the variety of products he created to stock the shelves in this little store. From infused oils, herbal soaps, bath vinegars, bath salts/scrubs & lotions for the body, pet care to herbs for the grill, vinegars & seasonings for the palate, the offerings were mind boggling. William's knowledge was impressive to say the least and we were very happy that we got to spend some time talking with him personally, picking his brain. I ended up purchasing some incense, detoxifying body oil (juniper, geranium & grapefruit), lavendar/mint home fragrance, eucalyptus home fragrance, Herbs de Povence, lavendar/champagne vinegar & balsamic coffee/fig vinegar. After our purchases, William escorted us to the back garden. It was really wonderful to let my mind wander & meditate while I walked the labyrinth. William mentioned that he will begin workshops this spring. I am fuzzy on the details but he did mention that they will be posted on his website soon. I am truly happy that I was able to meet William. He is such a delight and has a wonderful, positive energy. I left Urban Herbal feeling refreshed & content. Definitely worth a return trip!

It was a bit hard to find off Redland Road because there's another landscaping business next to this that has a nice, paved driveway & sign. Signage isn't clear for Wholesale Landscaping and on my map app it just shows it located before Los Barrios restaurant. I had to back out of the first driveway after seeing the large piles of mulch, stone & rock in the property before so I figured out that's the location. Parked in front of a building that shows signs of where the office is located. We walked up to the office but it's more of interaction with the employees thru a galvanized steel security transaction window. You don't enter inside as we did with the business up north. The female clerk opened the window, we told her what we were interested in, she showed us a price list on laminated paper & told us one of her employees was going to show us the stones. We walked over & a Hispanic employee showed us a couple of stone piles but he couldn't articulate well and we found we were breaking down our explanation more simply. He couldn't even explain the width of the stone. We only saw one type of stone but not the grey stone the female employee mentioned? We had places to go so we left. I was disappointed. The customer service up north has employees greeting you, able to articulate pricing, names of the stones & will walk you thru to locate the stones & names & the office is a walk-in type of establishment. Much more customer service oriented. If you want more service-oriented interaction, this may not be the place for you based on my personal experience. Seems like the piles of mulch & stones are very neatly organized, though. I didn't walk over to the mulch side.

I'm not very knowledgeable about "Bonsai" and I contacted the owner of Bonsai San Antonio, Giani. This place sells nice bonsai trees. And the owner is full of info about care and growing bonsai'. He's personable and will only let one go if he's sure you know how to care for them. As far as price, I think he is comparable to similar businesses that sell bonsai.

You delivered me the wrong rock size which made it appear that the yards delivered were incorrect…read more I ordered 2-4 inch Texas Blend - you can see my receipt. I received rock well over 4 inches and it contained asphalt rock in the mixture. See pictures. I have enclosed pictures of the rock so you can see the oversized the rock. Your loader, at your yard, could have easily seen the rock was oversized and your driver should have seen this too as I assume you hire capable employees. I knew something was wrong with the rock and had my HOA inspector look at it and he said the rock is too large and well over 4 inches in size. I had to buy rock at Buckhorn last minute and it was the correct 2-4 inch rock and 10 yard of rock covered more area then the poor quality "New" Burnin Bush rock as it was so large it did not cover like the 2-4 inch rock. I stopped payment on my check when they would not return my calls and messages I left from 10 AM to 4 PM. I am not paying for rock that I did not order. The owner sent a message at 11:22 am on Friday, April 25th saying he would be out to my property with a skidsteer between 2-3pm to pick up the rock. I had to call the police to protect myself and my property. A skid steer can no longer be used to get the oversized wrong rock. The police officer, Mr Hernandez - Badge Number 5412, said that the rock was not 2-4 inches and he asked to see my receipt. He said I would have to handle this in civil court and I will be using Mr Hernandez' statement in my lawsuit against Burnin Bush and the "New" Burnin Bush. I sent the below message to the owner/office person - Sophia. Basically saying they can pick up their rock but they have to do it by hand and with wheelbarrows. I gave them a timeline and gave them enough advance notice that they can get their rock. Unlike the unprofessional message of less than 3 hour notice and threathing to bring heavy equipment - skidsteer that would damage my property and my neighbors property. You can pick up your oversized rock that I did not order for next Friday May 2nd from 11am to 1 pm. No skidsteers or shovels will be used on my property or driveway. Your crew will have two hours to hand pick all the burnin bush oversize rock out of the flower beds to only use wheelbarrows on the edge of the property and not touch the edging that has already been professionally installed. Each of your crew will sign a personal liability waiver before any work is started and any damage done to my property, grass, edging, landscaping fabric or other items will be reimbursed to me within 24 hours of damage or I will sue you. This is very professional compared to your less than 24 hour notice and your demand to use a skidsteer on my property after my edging and landscaping fabric had been installed so no longer can heavy equipment be used on my property. You have until Monday, April 28th by 4 pm to confirm your agreement with the time, date, waiver form and the exact way the oversized and wrong rock will be removed. If I don't get a response by Monday April 28th. I will purchase more rock from buckhorn and put it on top of your poor quality rock and then you will no longer have access to the poor quality burnin bush rock that was not properly crushed, screened and check to make sure if was free of asphalt rock and it was not Texas blend 2-4 inch rock. The police officer confirmed that the rock was definitely not 2-4 inch rock and he was shocked by the receipt saying that is what you claimed to deliver. I will be putting this message on google review along with pictures of the oversized rock, my receipt and the asphalt that was in the rock that I had to remove by hand. The Burnin Bush Owner is refusing to pick up his oversized rock. Here is what he sent to me. ........"NO, we had set up a landscaper to come and you denied them access and called the cops. Every single rock there will go through a 4" square. We don't pick a few rocks we need all of it or nothing. You neighbors have already said that you are crazy and impossible to deal with. After you called the cops for absolutely no reason we will just be filing the mechanics lien, and going on our way. We will just have to wait to get paid when you sell the house. When we went out like you asked us to, The load was even gps out at 12.7 yards. You came out and looked at the material prior to ordering and picked it, and you told the driver how happy you were when you got it. It was after that when your boy friend changed the entire mood. The extra 7/10 of a yard definitely made up for any problems or small other pieces.We are just waiting for the copy of your bounced check to turn it over to our attorney with all pictures"

This was her recommendation for flower shops to visit in the San Antonio area. This shop is one of the only shops that sells for non resale purposes. Not that we needed help but it would've been nice fora staff member to offer assistance; they looked busy. There was also a bunch of cases and votives available to purchase. Overall the prices seamed reasonable so we will be back in April to purchase for my wedding!
