Lonesome Rose really hits the tex mex spot. Their chips and guac totally exceeded my expectations which really got us excited for the main course. You can tell the bowls were fresh. My only issue is that they are preeeetty tiny. I was still hungry after. Go for drinks, vibes and a good time, not necessarily fulfillment lol. -AD

    Quesarito

To save you time: if you're going to go, get the Crunchy Beef Quesrorito. Anything with the queso was good, and the queso was the stand out of the meal. The rest of the food was nothing special, which normally isn't a problem for me, but it had 'something special' pricing. $8 for one taco that was average just made it feel more disappointing. The service was fantastic, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the interior design is very cute.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would save time and money by sticking to drinks or sticking to the Quesorito, as all of us had a bite of it and wished we had ordered that instead. Also, $3 for a soda with no refills...it's cruel. It feels personal. It's definitely not, but man...

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is always packed per Clark St. style.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When I arrived the host told me it was a 40 min wait. My friend had not arrived yet so I opted in and waited. It turned out to be more like a 10 minute wait so they over estimate wait times or we were just lucky. Both could be absolutely true! Our server was an absolute delight and we had fun making jokes with him. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a large space with a pink desert vibe. Super cute and trendy also per Clark St. style.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Now for the food. The seasoning and spices are on point for a fancy taco place. Though they only line their tacos with one tortilla and each one broke through so that was a bit disappointing. My friend had the birria tacos and she said they were amazing. If you get a flavored margarita they bring the juice part separate in a shot glass and you mix it together. I would recommend asking for another shot of the juice as I found the one wasn't enough and didn't add enough flavor to my drink. Overall, it's cute, food is good, service is phenomenal.

Food was good flavor-wise. The best was the corn salsa and queso dips. I ordered the carne asada bowl with extra protein. Instead of extra protein, I was served another serving of fat that was chewy and inedible. A mound of fat, so disappointing. The cilantro rice was delicious, though. Paloma drink was delicious! My favorite! Service was extremely sweet, kind, and attentive. We loved our server (blanking on name sadly). [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was casual and cute. Great for a big group.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]A little chilly on the restaurant side and like a sauna hot bed in the bathroom which was strange but not a big deal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'd give this place a try again, probably just for the dips and tequila drinks.

We had a table of 4 and half of my party was already seated at a table before we arrived, so once we arrived we just headed straight for the table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibes were cute, I could hear our conversations so the music wasn't too loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The server was very kind and thoroughly went over the menu for us. I had a raspberry margarita and I believe a steak bowl with a side of the elote rice. The party had chips with an assortment of dips to share. I'm not sure how everyone else felt about their dishes, but I thought my bowl was just ok, it seemed like it was missing something. Also the meat seemed a little dry. The best part was the perfectly ripe avocados. My margarita was alright also. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I wasn't really wowed about the food nor the menu, but the service and ambiance was cool.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Fast service and delicious offerings! The vibe is what sold this place for me. Love that the whole roof is a sky light so lots of natural light coming into the space! Pro tip! If you're not too hungry get a bowl, it is bigger than an app but not as large as a traditional main

Chips and Salsa (Tomatillo Crudo & Pineapple Habanero)
    Anthony D.

I got my order through Uber Eats and it arrived still fresh. I ordered The Burrito and Chips & Salsa. The Chips come with a Tomatillo Crudo and Pineapple Habanero salsa. The Tomatillo Crudo tastes essentially like puréed jalapeños, but the Pineapple Habanero salsa has a nice fruitiness from the pineapple and heat from the habanero. They also load you up with chips which is nice. I chose Al Pastor for The Burrito and it was pretty tasty. The tater tots mute the flavor, but the meat was well seasoned and well cooked. It had a nice smokiness and slight char. Through the app you can add up to 5 sides of salsa and while I didn't choose all 5, I did go through 2 with the burrito.

Overall, this place was a miss for me, unfortunately. Definitely a hard pass and I wouldn't recommend this place. Starting with the service, my experience was rough. Despite finding an open seat at the bar, I was left unacknowledged and without a menu or water for a noticeable period of time, even after the bar cleared out. The saving grace was Theo, the barback. He noticed me waiting, checked in, offered water and a drink, and essentially provided all the service. The bartender only took my order and cashed me out. Some folks around me seemed to enjoy it and happy with the service, so perhaps it's just my luck, but Theo's excellent service truly stood out and deserves recognition, so big shout-out to him. For the food, it was pretty underwhelming and just mid--a clear example of trying to do way too much rather than focusing on actual taste. The guacamole was bland despite too many ingredients, really needing salt to balance the lime and avocado. Tacos were nothing special; the Smoked Taiwanese Beef Quesabirra was overly salty, and two of my three tacos had flavor but were served cold to touch. The Baja Fish Taco was actually decent, so if you do decide to try it, I'd recommend getting the Baja Fish and hopefully you have a better experience than I did! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself is actually put together well. The decor, layout and bar all stood out and was very esthetically pleasing--very "Instagramable".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

It was a great experience from the time my friend and I walked in to the time we left. We just met up for drinks but im looking forward to the food next time I visit. I got the ranch water, which was pretty good. Ive had other versions of this drink and they were not the most balanced or flavorful. The service was lovely, felt very seen and looked after. The ambiance is quite nice. I enjoy the low light feel.

Appetizers were quac and chips, and shrimp ceviche. The guac was really good, but the ceviche was the star. Served on a bed of cucumbers, it was visually beautiful, and the flavor was fresh and complex. There was also a LOT of it. We ended up taking some home. Entrees were steak and shrimp for me, and Tampiquena for my friend. In both dishes, the steak was done to perfection. The sauce that came with my shrimp was spicy and deep--lots of flavor layers there. Both of us took home portions of our meals because there was a lot of food on the plates. Finally, the service--the servers are attentive without hovering. If we needed something, they were there, but never intrusive. It is hard to believe this is a little neighborhood spot, given the service and the quality of the food. It was not too busy tonight--we ate early--but I recommend reservations. It is very popular with the neighborhood. Bottom line, we each had 2 margaritas, appetizers, and entrees, and our bills with tip were around $105.00 each--totally worth it! Try this little gem--you won't regret it.

We've been in twice in the last 4-5 months, and I like the indoor-outdoor space on nicer days. The value proposition on this menu is terrible unless you come in for happy hour (4-6 PM), and even then, the appetizers are so tiny that they end up being food for one, not many. The margs aren't bad and the "pizzadillas" are the go-to for the group because that ends up being a decent deal when looking to entertain the group. I don't have any service issues, and Texan's location is perfect for "let's start here then go down the street." And, at 4:30 or 5 PM, we haven't had an issue getting space for 10-12 very last minute, although I'm sure that will change over the summer. Average stuff, elevated by a big space. I would skip this place for date night, but with a crowd, worth a look!

I visited recently on a rainy day and noticed water leaking inside the building and by leaking I mean it was literally raining inside. Unfortunately, I remember seeing the same issue last summer, which is a bit concerning from a safety and upkeep standpoint there's literally wires and heaters the water is pouring out next to. The music was also extremely loud, making it difficult to have a conversation, and the sound quality from the speakers was not very clear felt like listening to nails on a chalkboard. On a positive note, the service was excellent. The drink selection is somewhat mediocre, but the draft margaritas are very good. The food menu is weird, those looking for more traditional tacos may not find them here. I think simple would get them a lot further.

Starting with margaritas (because obviously ‍), queso and chips that were dangerously good, and the chicken empanadas that came out perfectly crispy with so much flavor. We kept looking at each other after every bite like "okay wait... THIS is the best thing here" and then another plate would arrive and prove us wrong again The carnitas fried rice??? I genuinely cannot stop thinking about it. So savory, flavorful, comforting, and packed with crispy carnitas on top with the eggs and pickled onions... literally unreal. And then the skirt steak tacos absolutely stole the show. The steak was cooked perfectly, packed with flavor, and paired so perfectly with all the toppings and sauces. Every single bite tasted fresh and homemade in the best way possible. And can we talk about the ambience for a second because WOW. The music, the energy, the vibe inside, everyone celebrating, the drinks flowing -- it felt like the perfect Cinco de Mayo dinner spot. The service was also AMAZING from start to finish and made the entire experience even better.
