Called restaurant from car as it was 40 minutes before closing. Person answering had so little English as to be unintelligible, and I taught English as a second language give for 18 years, so I understand foreign speech better than most. I asked for curbside delivery because I was traveling alone and wanted to eat my food in my car. I walk with a walker, making it hard for me to carry clamshells. The fellow took my order, and I waited for 40 minutes, at which time the lights blinked out, and I saw the help go out the back and get in a truck and leave! We went on a Friday night and it was quite empty so there was plenty of seating in the upbeat atmosphere We were greeted right away and the worker was very friendly. He seemed to be working hard and making sure everyone was satisfied and getting everything they needed Our table got steak tacos and chicken torta Everyone gets free chips and salsa too The chips were fresh but could use salt. PHEW I am glad I stumbled upon El Charro and their wonderful food. I've driven past this place quite a few times and never noticed it. It isn't much to notice from the outside. There is a parking lot but there are a lot of other businesses and it's easier to walk if you can. The interior is pretty bright and there is a decent amount of seating. Not to mention, they have the cutest napkin holders. It was fairly quiet when we were there and the service was quick. The server was very friendly and had quite amount of recommendations for if you're "hungry hungry" or "just a little hungry." The complimentary chips were the perfect temperature and the salsa was pretty good. The main event was the tacos for each of us. My friend and I each got the taco dinner (I got chicken and she got steak) and we both felt we got the right amount for a decent price. The tacos were well seasoned, meat was well portioned, and the onion and cilantro hit the spot. I will most definitely be returning for dining in when I can as well as takeout! read more

I ordered nachos and they gave me a sandwich with cubed chicken meat, cheese, and beans with two small pieces of lettuce and lots of spoiled onions. It was very disgusting by the way. The bread roll that it was on tasted very stale and the chicken was flavorless. If you're running a restaurant, please read the order and make sure you get the order right. This was the worst sandwich I ever had in my life. horrible experience! Please be cautious when getting from this place. Especially late nights. After a few bites, I tasted spoiled chicken. One of the best Mexican restaurants in town! My son's gym is nearby, so we stop in weekly for a reliably good meal. We've become weekly regulars post-gym class. The food is consistently excellent, and over the last few months, we've gotten to know some of the staff quite well. They are all a wonderful, generous, and welcoming team. Chips and salsa: 5 Guacamole: 5 EVERY SHRIMP DISH: 5++++ I rotate the shrimp dishes on a weekly basis, but the el Diablo (spicy) and the garlic sauce shrimp dishes I get most frequent. There are a few garlic shrimp dishes, all of which are perfection. But the one shrimp dish cooked IN a garlic sauce is something I could eat everyday (and nearly do). Little GEM! A somewhat dingy exterior, opens into a bright, fresh, clean dining room with fun murals of pozole and avocadoes! Bathrooms were spotlessly clean. Table service, we ordered way too much food. Al Pastor burritoes, and 3-4 tacos, along with the chips we were noshing on. My Horchata was creamy and delicious, and a small size is generous! The burrito - crunchy, juicy, goodness!! The ingredients that weren't meat were finely chopped, which made this burrito a nibbly dream. Really tasty too, and LARGE. We finally stopped by tonight for their Taco Tuesday special: $2.50/taco your choice of chicken, pastor, or chorizo. We bought 5 and a side of guacamole. Total was about $17 + tip. Came with onions and cilantro on each, plus a side of lime wedges, cucumber slices, and radishes. Oh, and salsa verde and roja. I picked up a menu because it seems they have a lot to offer! You can dine in or opt for takeout (like I did this time). I will say, the inside is clean and nice, but the TV/music videos are pretty loud. How good is it? THE BEST. So good, I switched from my go-to Carne a la Tampequeno to Chicken Enchiladas Verde. My dearest says the shrimp dishes are the best she ever had, especially one with special sauce the boss makes "off menu". Happy to know that this place has a parking lot. Service was wonderful. The young lady did her best. Food was good and well-made. My only complaints is where's the beef!?! I ordered taco, quesadilla, and sope...all lacked meat! I don't mind paying the price, but can you please add some meat to my plate? Pretty decent Mexican option off Lawrence Ave. The Quesabirria tacos tasted great, but the price is higher than I expected. They offer a slightly lower price if you pay with cash, but I never carry cash with me. There's other Mexican place nearby so I might try another place that's a little cheaper.
