Food here is good and the prices are not too shabby but man, drove all the way to south sac for some banh mi's and their hours changed. It says they're open on Google, yelp, and on the menu from JUNE of this year that they're closed on Wednesdays. I came here on a Tuesday to see their gate closed and locked up with a thin paper stating that they are now closed on Tuesdays instead of Wednesdays. Given that we ordered Bo Ne, I expected steak. We didn't want the rest of the meat and they served us 4 thinly sliced pieces of meat that was very low quality. Like reallllllyyyy thin. Definitely not steak. What a waste of money and no where near worth the price. I can't believe they even think that's acceptable for Bo Ne. No eggs even come with it at the price. Their sesame balls are Itty bitty and not even cooked. It looked burnt on the outside and honestly old but the dough was squishy and felt like raw dough when we touched it. I informed them that it's not cooked and they said it's a different kind like dim sum restaurants and I explained that sesame balls should NEVER be that texture whether it's Chinese or vietnamese. I've had plenty dim sum and never have sesame balls ever tasted or felt this way. They could have just apologized but we left still hungry. Do not recommend at all. Literally save your money. I came here a few weeks ago. Finally able to post. This gem is a hidden spot! I came here out to eat with my sister and her friend. We were greeted right away. We wanted to dine in. We chose to sit outside because it was a nice warm day out. We ordered the eggrolls, bun Bo hue, and a rice plate. Everything was sooo good! Food came out pretty fast too! It's been a few years and the banh mis here still blows me away. I always get the meatball sandwich, and it is my favorite in the area still. I never get tired of eating it. Add in extra butter/mayo and you have yourself a winner. They have the buy 4 sandwiches and get 1 free offer still, so this makes the restaurant even better l when trying to feed a crowd. I got my old co-workers hooked on these sandwiches so back then, I would order anywhere from 15-25 banh mis every Tuesday for our office. Great deal. Workers are still friendly, although my old co-workers did have trouble ordering over the phone since they don't speak Vietnamese. I don't mind ordering for them though. Duc Huong had a line out the door and I needed a banh mi lol, so I googled searched for another joint that maybe people be sleeping on. This place is hidden for sure. Through a gated property, buildings look empty save for a boba place and a Vietnamese juice bar. Long sandwiches is tucked away around the corner where the fountain is through a covered patio. It was dead when I went in but didn't compromise the freshness of the bread or the ingredients. I got the bbq pork banh mi with everything on it. Was $6.95 and warm and fresh. It was delicious. This place is so hard to find. You can't see it from the street. Don't follow Google Maps. The only entrance/exit is via the short gate off Stockton Blvd. Once you're in the parking lot, turn left. The sandwich shop is in the "armpit" of the building, next to the dentist office. The banh mi here is good. It's a faster alternative to Duc Huong with plenty of parking. Move aside Huong Lan and Duc Huong, LONG SANDWICH HAS THE BEST BANH MI IN SACRAMENTO! They're not as known about, which is good because there's never a long line or wait. They make their bread in house so it's slightly crispy outside and soft inside - it doesn't tear up your mouth. Their portion of pork and veggies is good also. I always get the grilled pork and slather it in sriracha. This is also a good place to go with friends/family because BUY FOUR SANDWICHES, GET ONE FREE! Who doesn't like free?! They have ready made egg rolls and meat filled puff pastries in a warming cabinet, both are tasty and a good snack to eat while waiting for your sandwich. They have regular hot food as well, like pho and curry, but I haven't tried it. The steak and eggs does look good though. Note - if you order for dine in, they cut the sandwich in half and the meat is warm. If you order to go, they do not cut the sandwich and the meat is more room temperature. It's a very inviting place with a small covered patio and a varied menu that demands return visits. I had their combination banh mi sandwich and it was every bit as good as any I've tried. Fresh bread, crunchy veggies, and a flavorful filling. And a real value at $5.75 which is less than a Big Mac. Go outside your comfort zone and give them a try. I have gotten there meatball and egg bahn mi sandwiches a few times each and I love them. The egg has cucumber, cilantro, jalapeños slice, and this delicious dark colored sweet sauce yet it has something else to it that goes amazing in it. Meatball has the regular carrots, cucumber, daikon, cilantro, jalapeño and dressing in it. The meatballs are just as good as any i have tried, i like theres just more for the fact they also have cucumber in it. I'm not sure on the exacts as what's a tradiitional with or without the cucumbers and the cilantro, carrots, daikon and jalapeños, but more is better and i like cucumbers. I have tried a few of there ready items as well for togo. And they also have a few bakery items staying warm as well. There puff pastry with meat inside was so delicious, and $1 ea! =) I have been able to make a few call ahead orders so its ready when i get there, its a tad tough with the language barrier but they have been able to get it right each time! The only down side i have encountered was the menu for the desseert side has more than 75% of it not available anymore and 2 items i wanted sounded so dayummm good. Maybe they will be back at alater time or they update and take off all the non available items. They have plenty of inside and outside seating available, parking can be a bit tricky with the intersection its kinda at, soon as you see it get over if your across the street from them. Make sure you enter and leave on the correct side, i almost followed a lost person and might have ended up in a accident. But they do have plenty of signage all around. Not sure what my 50s will crave. I'm on the East coast, and don't get out to CA very often. Still, there's some great sandwiches out here. The bread at Long Sandwich is OK. Not great, but OK. On the other hand, the BBQ pork is bar-none the best piece of meat I've had on a banh mi. It's smoked as well as good southern BBQ, and has a ton of flavor. I'd like some more jalapeños, sure. But more than that, I'd like to know how to make pork taste the way Long Sandwich makes it. Outstanding. I've smoked whole pigs. This meat is the real deal. I first tried them out when they first opened and back then , they were doing a promo : buy 3 get 1 free. Those days are LONG gone and they switched it to buy 4 get 1 free. What attracted me to come back was seeing that they serve curry ga and mi quang! Mmm my two favorite Vietnamese dishes . Ok, so when I recently came back I surprisingly didn't order either one of the dishes that I mentioned . Instead , I ordered a number 7 xiu mai meatball sandwhich and egg rolls . So random, I know . The teenage girl helping her family at the register was the cutest ! She's so polite and is always smiling . I dig that . When the young girl brought out my order , I noticed instead of giving me water like I had asked , she gave me iced herbal tea instead . I didn't notice it was tea until I started getting palpitations later . I'm such a weakling ! It's ok , homegirl probably thought I could hang . The food was great ! The meatballs in the sandwhich were meaty and the egg rolls were fresh out the fryer. My only complaint would be that they give so much meat and too little veggies . Honestly I prefer the Banh Mi from Duc Hoang or Huong Lan which is further down the street. I met the hubs and his buddies here my lunch after their trip. Ordered the Bo Kho and it was ok. The meat was a little chewy if you ask me and I got more tendon that meat. There was maybe 3 small pieces of carrots and a whole bunch of yellow onion. I came here around 2 pm and it felt like I came here at the end of the day when all the soup was gone and this was the last bowl so the meat and veggie was scared in the bowl.
