Needed a quick bite before driving back to the Bay. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't too busy. We were seated right away and given menus. The menu had a bit too much going on and in my opinion -- restaurants should have a speciality rather than offer so many items because taste and quality loses itself somewhere in the middle of 100 different menu options. I know my partner and I are pho snobs but what we had wasn't even pho. The broth was basically hot water with a tad of salt or chicken bouillon. There were no hints of star anise, cinnamon (often referred to as Saigon cinnamon), cloves, black cardamom, coriander seeds, and fennel seeds -- nada. And the noodles were way too overcooked making my dish so difficult to eat. I ordered pho and it looked like pho -- but it tasted nothing close to it. I need to share that as a reality to the owner and staff so they can make changes to the quality of their food -- otherwise, I don't know if this place will survive the competition. Also, I observed a staff member behind the counter blending a smoothie of some sort, tasting it with a spoon, and then putting back said spoon into the smoothie to stir before pouring it into a cup (and I saw the cup delivered to a party a few tables down from us). That probably isn't very hygienic and it's sad to see that's how things are handled behind the scenes here. I just happened to look over from our table and was pretty disgusted. Moving on, I hope these guys shape up because the quality and taste of food was actually bad. Same great service a year later. Menu is bigger. I asked the waiter which was better, beef stew pho or Bún riêu? He said the Bún riêu was better. So, it was combo pho and Bún riêu again. This is a great Vietnamese restaurant! We went here last night to celebrate my mom's birthday. Our server was very welcoming. It's next to a movie theatre, so you can enjoy a movie after having dinner. The location is great. The restaurant itself is big and clean. A pretty nice spot off of Laguna blvd. Came here with my mom who is in a power chair. The restaurant is very accommodating to ADA folks. Lots of seating in the restaurant. The servers were very quick to seat us and bring us drinks. The food came out really quick once we ordered. We went with the beef chow fun, crispy rolls and pork spring rolls. All the food was super hot and fresh when it arrived. Our favorite had to be the crispy egg rolls. They were full of meat. Awesome flavor in each bite. The chow fun left a bit to be desired but I still enjoyed it and the marinated beef in it was bomb! I loved the spring rolls as well. They were huge. Also the hot tea was wonderful. After an eventful day, our group decided on pho as our next move. Ha Noi Pho was the destination of choice due to its proximity and the group's enjoyment of it. Our party of 10 came on a quiet Sunday evening. There weren't too many diners. The restaurant is spacious with ample tables for a range of sizes. They also have a waiting area for take-out orders. There are also claw machines and other things to look at. Service by everyone was nice and efficient! They have so many options, not only for pho but also for other dishes, both meat and veggie! I had a small Chicken Breast Pho. It was so comforting and warm. It tasted like how it should! I was pretty full from our earlier activities, so I took most of it to go. I ordered the Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings with a side bowl of Beef Fried Rice. The wings were a hit and everyone I shared it with in my table unanimously agreed also! I can't remember how many pieces it came with. The wings were flavorful and I loved the crispness of the skin. Craving that salt & pepper chicken wings I came back the following month with my hubby I ordered the same thing while he chose the Grill Meat with Rice Plate. When our food was served it wasn't the same crispness on the wings. It had the same delicious and amazing strong flavors but I longed for the crispy skin. I asked one of the servers and he said it was prepared differently, a much lighter crisp and something like "easy on the teeth"... huh?? ugh! my teeth can handle it LoL! I am a fan. My hubs and I came in for lunch one afternoon. The dining room is pretty spacious. They had Fox news blaring on one screen and there were some folks out there with conservative stickers on their cars. That made me a bit sad, but that's not really the restaurant's fault. The waitstaff was super nice and attentive. I really enjoyed the food! I got the shaking beef and my hubs got the combo vermicelli noodle bowl. The pho broth was good and I upgraded my noodles to the "fresh wide noodles." It was wide for sure but it did not have that fresh softness I was expecting. Unfortunately it was a downgrade. This place is located in an outside mall area. Century theater is right by there. There's plenty of parking. The restaurant is pretty big and has outside seating. They have a tv on the wall and it was decorated for the Lunar New Year. The service was great and fast. To pay, you have to go up to the register. They don't bring the bill to you (just fyi). The food was pretty good. I had the dry noodle with chicken and egg rolls. It was good. I gave four stars because I've had better. I prefer the Vietnamese egg rolls which are wrapped in a thinner rice paper. And the carrots were hard. I think they could've grated it to make it thinner. That's just my preference. My wife and I decided to go get some pho before catching a movie. Service is what you expect for an Asian restaurant. It was nice being able to watch the Kings game there when they beat the Bucks. That boosted my rating from 3 stars to 4 stars. The Pho is decent. I've had better and I've had worse. It has good beef flavor but under seasoned. The fried tofu is not that good. They used pressed tofu, so it's kind of tough instead of fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The chicken wings didn't have any flavor on the inside. First n prob the last time here. Dirty, bad service n small portion (rice plate) ... Went on a Thursday nite last wk... Restroom (at least the men's was dirty)... we were told there is a wait for 10 min ... waited longer than that.. 3 male staff wit one female ... about 1/3 of thr restaurant was filled... we were finally seated n the table was sticky ... one bowl n two spoons they gave us were dirty (party of six). We didn't get our waters until later n it took longer than expected to get our orders. Food taste was ok for the pho. The pork was over cooked so I was eating jerky n the eggroll was either old or not cooked properly.. it was soft n doughy in the inside. I should have went to sitlo n wait wit the large crowd. Upon sitting down, I noticed that the floor was super sticky and there were food scraps scattered over the floor. We chose a different table to sit and it was also sticky. I would understand if there was a dinner rush but at the time, there was only 2 other party so there shouldn't be any reason to have the condition be the way it was. When the food came out, it was truly disappointing. We ordered the bun bo hue and a bun thit nuong. Both dishes were lackluster. The bun bo hue was overly salty with little flavor and the meat was not fresh. The bun thit nuong had old meat as well and not properly grilled. I'm viet and can attest that this place does not have authenticity to their meals. Broth was done with probably premix seasoning. I'm still stunned that the bun bo hue had no hints of lemongrass. Pretty darn good food, but absolutely dreadful customer service and not very clean. Food is solid, the beef stew with the baguette and the popcorn chicken are my style. But the bathroom (at least the Men's) is absolutely disgusting. The service is dreadful. They never check on tables, you have to flag them down. Every time we've gone, we start with one person and never see them again the rest of dinner. This most recent we placed an additional to-go order. 30+ minutes later he still hasn't brought it out so we can then pay for everything and be in our merry way. We flagged the guy down to ask how much longer for the to-go order and to ask for the check. He tells us it's been done and we need to go to the counter to pay. When we get to the counter, we ask if it's normal that they don't bring the check to the table and he says, oh we can bring the check to the table if you ask. So why were we then at the counter?!!! Needless to say I thinks the $2 tip was generous. Unfortunately, despite the solid food, I think we're officially crossing this one off our list.
