We were guests in what our hosts described as "their favorite restaurant" and Yelp awards a 4-stars review...my conclusion was: either the restaurant was having a really bad night or reviewers have lost their understanding of what a 4-stars restaurant should be like. Our hosts ordered a bottle of white Bordeaux which the owner poured in our glasses as if she was pouring the lowly Sarasota water, filled our glasses almost to the top practically emptying the bottle. Then it was time to order, the lady host asked for the foie gras appetizer which she had absolutely recommended...Sorry, we are out! Appetizers: we ordered 2 Escargots, and the Homemade Country Pâté. The Escargots in herb butter were tasteless (I had to add some salt) and one of the snails was full of stones and grit. Main course: I asked for the Homemade Country Pâté which was portioned significantly less than what our host had gotten...was it to punish me for ordering 2 appetizers? My husband ordered the lamb chops...4 chops cooked to the point where they were tough, and a potato gratin reminiscent of a brick. Our hosts ordered the Pork Marco Polo and the Smoked Salmon Salad. I cannot comment on their entrees even though a comment was made that the pork was overcooked. The Salmon Salad did not look appetizing. But, the 'pièce de resistance' was when our host ordered Crêpe Suzette and was told that 'we are out of orange jam'...whaaat? You can find orange jam in any grocery store, you should never run out of orange jam. We have dined in many restaurant that we felt were subpar, this one won first price. Needless to say, will never go back.

The owners are a married couple with the husband in the front and the wife as the chef in the back. Classic French dishes executed very well with proper technique and delicious flavors. The mussels were my favorite although I rarely choose to eat seafood - which says a lot!! The escargot was buttery and soft. The bread was homemade with a stunning flower shaped butter which was well seasoned. They gave us an amuse bouche which was creamy vegetable soup - delicious! Scallops were seared nicely with a unique tangerine beurre blanc which complimented them well. Finished with a delicious gooey chocolate lava cake. The dinner, ambiance, and service were phenomenal. I would absolutely be back!

From the very beginning, you're greeted by the gregarious owner, who immediately makes you feel like you're a guest in his home. His enthusiasm and hospitality set the tone for the entire evening, and it's clear that the staff shares the same passion for creating an exceptional dining experience. Everyone works together seamlessly to make sure every guest feels welcomed and well cared for. We chose Antoine's to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary, and it couldn't have been a better choice. It's the perfect restaurant for a special occasion. The food was outstanding. We started with the mussels, and I've never seen such an extensive selection anywhere else--there must have been at least 10 different preparations to choose from. The duck and the scallops, both house specialties, were cooked perfectly and absolutely lived up to their reputation. To finish, we shared the French puff pastry filled with warm, melted Belgian chocolate. It was pure heaven and the perfect ending to an unforgettable meal. If you're looking for an authentic Belgian-French dining experience with incredible food and even better hospitality, Antoine's is a true hidden gem in Sarasota. Don't just take our word for it--go experience it for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

The elegance of the dining room atmosphere, the wait staff, and presentation of the food was not overlooked and executed to a level where you can tell the staff truly cares about the diner's experience. The pre fixe menu is simple enough to not get lost in, and wide enough to keep you coming back for more. Everything we ordered was delicious, unique, and contained a French twist. The special was tilefish, we ordered several kinds of seafood including lobster, crab, and snapper while I had the lamb saddle. Personally speaking the blue crab avocado appetizer was something I had to order because of all the pictures I had seen, and it did not disappoint. The romulade alongside the dish gave it a fresh, elegant bite which was rich but bright. The Colorado lamb saddle had the texture of a well prepared filet mignon perfectly baked inside of a puff pastry. I was calling it a lamb wellington for fun, but that may have been the most I have ever enjoyed a lamb dish. It was hearty, and perfectly balanced between tender meat, crisp crust, and savory sauce. The pineapple dessert was light, refreshing, and felt like a unique cross between a tangy desert and a sweet airy coconut whipped ice cream. I was however very jealous of the others that ordered the rich chocolate soufflé. 10/10. I would say this is a necessary experience for anyone that lives in the area.

The bistro was bustling with full tables. The place has a great vibe and is comfortable and very pleasantly decorated. It reminded us of some of the places we frequented when we lived in Paris. The owner is French as was our waitress, Angelika. We shared two orders of Escargots which were excellent. Salads were served between the courses as a palette cleanser. And then on to two Boeuf Bourguignons for the ladies. My friend had a medium-rare Filet de Boeuf and I had a Canard a l'Orange (one of my favorite dishes) also medium-rare. Each of the dishes was exceptional. For drinks we had sparkling water and a decent house Pinot Noir. My friend took a nonalcoholic wine and a beer. We ended up with an excellent Lemon Cream and I had to have an espresso. The meal was expensive ($332 to which I added a $70 tip) but it was all well worth it. We were visiting from the Boston area, and if we lived in the vicinity we would undoubtedly be regular patrons. I seldom give a restaurant five stars but this one deserves it. I will recommend highly the place. It was one of the best French meals and restaurants at which we have dined in the States.
