BUCATINI CARBONARA applewood smoked bacon, egg yolk*, parmigiano reggiano
    Brenda C.

I had the BUCATINI CARBONARA applewood smoked bacon, egg yolk*, parmigiano reggiano, and it was delicious, the pasta was al dente! I would have loved to have added a chicken breast to it, but that was not an option, nevertheless, it was perfect as it was served! Definitely going back soon.

Had a great date night walking the Lake of the Isles, visiting Birchbark Books, then having dinner here at The Kenwood. The reviews I read had dubbed this a "good neighborhood spot" but we both agreed it was definitely more than that! I would drive across town to eat here again. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This was a restaurant you could definitely dress up for if you want.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was excellent with consistent attendance that did not disrupt the meal or conversation. Food was delicious!! As Italian food connoisseurs, the carbonara here was gooooood. -street parking (free) -reservation recommended -dress up if desired

Just off Lake of the Isles, I would very gladly recommend the Kenwood to anyone looking for a neighborhood brunch that doesn't give diner vibes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The plaid wallpaper, robust windows, tall ceilings, and tasteful decor make the Kenwood a great Saturday spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It gets loud with all the tables full, but it brings the energy you may require on a summer Saturday morning![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was wonderful, providing great recs and quick service. I opted for the Huevos Rancheros. Very good and filling, but not so that you feel overstuffed. Crispy, hot potato cubes layer the bottom of the dish with delicately shredded braised pork filling out the center and a perfectly over medium egg to crown the dish. The plate also comes with a small dollop of sour cream and a flavorful swish of harissa sauce that adds a touch of heat. Overall, really nice portion size and excellent flavor. Would be curious to see what dinners look like here?

Very busy Sunday brunch afternoon. First timer and neighborhood this is tucked in is so cute. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food even better chorizo was tender. The pancake the perfect amount of fluff and right amount of butter. Also had a kenwood burger not pictured bacon was thick and crispy. Docking down a star for service. Had a reservation in which we reserved a table for 3 as we had a baby and needed the car seat. She tried ti push us for a table for two. Our server messed up order and also left before we got our check without even a final check in.

It's truly a neighbor gem! There isn't a massive menu but I won't get tired of anything on it. Love their home made pasta and focaccia. Burger is great too. The menu changes seasonally. I was very impressed by the WILD ACRES DUCK in my recent visit. Knowing duck dish isn't easy to cook, theirs is soft, juicy and tasty, the best duck I've had so far in Minneapolis. Just like their ad says, "Dishes that can take you outside your comfort zone - or bring you back to it"! Servers are very friendly, we never had one bad experience.

Best pancake ever! Everything on the menu looked delicious so it was hard to choose. Definitely don't skip the pancake though. I'll be back to try more. It's a bit busy and a bit noisy for brunch but definitely worth it. Service was quick despite how busy they were. Street parking was relatively easy to find just around the corner.

Been meaning to come here for a couple of years (I run or bike by it often); finally jumped in for brunch. 1) Omelette béchamel aux champignons: best omelette I've ever had, world-wide; 2) French fries w/calabrian chili mayo: best I've had outside of Belgium. Crazy fresh ingredients including top-drawer butter for the eggs. Perfect doneness. Also really good coffee. Next time, dinner!

Always a nice evening to be in this neighborhood restaurant with good food and a good vibe. I've always been a fan of the wallpaper and the cozy feel but for some reason tonight with good friends it all came together. A great meal with halibut, pasta, a salad and a soup and bread starter. I was not a fan of the cold pea soup, but my table mates loved it. The pasta had mushroom, kale and leek and Parmesan and was very tasty. Easy parking and good service made this a great night. We will be back.

What a wonderful spot in a beautiful location! The staff are so kind and everyone is very helpful with answering questions. Went here for brunch and it was a very enjoyable time! The food is very high quality and every time I go it's the same level of service and food quality. Highly recommend! I got the ricotta toast that was exactly what I was wanting! My fiancé got the breakfast burger and I think it was one of the best burgers I have ever had! The fries were a little on the salty side for me but I won't complain about that! The meat was so tender and juicy! Will go back for that!!

The Kenwood's reputation preceded it with so much good rave reviews. What a lovely brunch location in a quaint neighborhood. This restaurant had such an air of British elegance. The simple menu made it easy to narrow down my choices. First, I ordered the banana bread, then I could not help but choose the Wild Mushroom Hash with scrambled eggs and cheddar cheese. To add to the feast, I ordered green tea and Pelligrino to have a movktail mimosa. The red tea cup was absolutely adorable. Sitting outside on the patio was just perfect. The surrounding neighborhood with its charm just added to the whole appeal of the enjoyable brunch. Note for future reference from our waiter told us the pancakes are quite large and one pancakes is oversized enough for two people. So for future reference she said be ready to share if we decided to order them.

New American spot in a quaint neighborhood. Came here for a big group brunch (12 people) at noon and we had a reservation made beforehand. Indoor and outdoor dining available. Everyone working was super friendly. Gender-neutral single occupant restrooms are available in the back righthand side of the restaurant. Credit cards accepted. They do serve alcohol (including mimosas). We were told that the egg Benedict was one of the most popular things to get. The breakfast potatoes were crispy and they came as a side. The chicory salad was a bit bitter but there was a ton of finely grated cheese atop the greens.

A great beer selection and cocktails that looked delicious but the server didn't seem to know very much about either. The brussel sprouts were my favorite part, you have to try them if you come here. I got the bacon truffle burger with no bacon and the impossible patty substituted and it was quite tasty but nothing very special to be honest, most restaurants could replicate it so I thought it was a bit overpriced. I got the sweet potato fries with it which were delicious and came with an amazing chipotle aioli but they forgot to bring them out and I had to remind the serve about them. Overall, service and ambiance were great. We were checked in on just enough and felt very comfortable. The food was between good and great, some things were incredible and some weren't too special but still tasty. I would come back here but not on my own dime.

This makes the burger really chewy and you really can't taste the beef anymore like you used to when it was thicker. I would take this as it's not as good as it used to be. It is not as good as the original hype from the beginning. In conclusion, I do not think it's worth the $19. I rather get a cheesesteak for $16 at Tono's which comes with fresh not burnt fries rather than come back here and get a burger here. It's highly unlikely I will be back here. I honestly feel like the burgers have gone way WAY downhill. The fries here have gotten terrible so I stopped getting the fries a long time ago. They are not soft crisp like they used to be. They are too golden brown color, almost like burnt hard fries. I never like to eat down here. I normally would order the Parlour burger upstairs. The basement part which is Parlour has a weird smell like a locker room smell so that's why I don't like to eat down here.

I love the pink and green, and the place settings are gorgeous. Bonus: the team is super fast with clearing and bringing replacements so you always have a clean plate. Add in huge windows that brings in tons of light, and you have one of the most photogenic eateries in town. Dario's beverage menu is wonderful, and I especially want to draw attention to their extensive selection of non-alcoholic options. In addition to house-made sodas and creative cocktails, they have a wonderful list of dealcoholized wines--awesome news for anyone who is looking for a zero proof drink. As for the food, Dario knocks it out of the park with a menu that offers options for all tastes. The menu is designed to share, and the variety ensures that there will be something for everyone. The first two dishes that ai sampled were the Gem Lettuces, which our server described as "a Caesar salad on steroids" and the Morel Mushrooms. The Gem Lettuces were delicious--the zippy vinaigrette was better than any Caesar I have had before, the cheese was a fluffy, savory, and salty delight, and the puffed farro was a pleasing alternative to the usual croutons. Bonus: it's fish-free! I'd say that it's less a Caesar salad on steroids and more what happens when the Caesar salad next door goes off to college and has a glow-up. The morels were served on polenta and complemented with Madeira and tarragon. They came with a confit egg yolk. The presentation was strikingly beautiful, and the flavors pure and harmonious. The morels were cooked perfectly and went beautifully with the wine and tarragon--it was a great dish for spring, and everyone enjoyed the layers of texture and flavor. For our pasta choices, we had the English Pea Triangoli that Lu recommended (thanks Lu!) and the doppio. It's easy to see why Dario is known for its pasta--these dishes were amazing. The English Pea Triangoli was otherworldly: sweet peas, snap peas, onions, mint, and pea sprouts come together with butter to make a nostalgic little bite of heaven. It tastes like spring. Sicilian pistachios add crunch and another layer of sweet and salt, and the lightly steamed vegetables and fresh pea shoots and mint also added layers of texture and freshness. Positively superlative. The Doppio was also gorgeous: one side is filled with ricotta and the other sunchoke. Honey adds sweetness and the hazelnuts toastiness reminiscent of browned butter. The rosemary complemented it all. For my dessert, I had the Earl Gray tea cake. It had a very pleasing crumb and subtle sweetness, and the lemon whipped cream was the perfect accompaniment. The sprinkle of toffee cookie added a lovely caramelized crunch, and the bright acidity of the rhubarb was preserved, making for a juicy and refreshing burst of flavor in every bite. Splendid! Thanks to Dario for a wonderful evening!

Tucked away in its own little corner of North Loop, there is some paid parking directly outside otherwise walking from nearby street parking is possible too! The interior of the space is whimsical and fun with green and pink interior design elements, gold accents, and fun artwork! It truly feels like a special escape from reality when inside...similar to an Alice in Wonderland experience. Our server was incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about what to order. I particularly appreciated how our pasta came out in intentional courses from lightest to heaviest. It absolutely elevated the meal to top notch. Known for their handmade pasta, we didn't mess around with any other menu items...we just ordered four different plates of pasta: Doppio, Torteletti, Rigatoni Alla Vodka, and Tajarin! The Doppio was my favorite, with a unique double filled pasta that had a savory sunchoke filling highlighted with a pop of whipped ricotta. The Rigatoni was cozy and warm, serving up perfect comfort food vibes. The Tajarin was the ocean in a bowl and my partner's favorite, but it was a bit too salty for my palate. The food was top notch and the environment was stellar, but I did feel a bit of cognitive dissonance. The food was so grounded, earthy, and cozy yet the interior was whimsical, playful, and ethereal. This disconnect took my out of the experience a bit. Add in that the price points are a bit high, and I could see why some might have different expectations. Overall, I'm glad Dario is taking swings at providing something truly unique to the North Loop! I will absolutely be returning!
