With the black and white floor be bright colors everywhere, you feel happy the minute you walk in. I tried the s'mores and the Nutella chip ice creams. Both were good. The s'mores had a deep chocolate flavor and chunks of graham crackers and mini marshmallows. The Nutella chip had a light Nutella flavor with chocolate chips mixed in throughout. Excellent, fresh, creamy ice cream. I always get the cookie monster...the pieces of cookie in the ice cream soften to the perfect consistency. Not a lot of sitting room, this is more a place to grab ice cream and eat it outside or get it to go. Overpriced is my only complaint, for small little scoops. Two words can describe my experience at Longford's: Cultural Immersion. I have never felt more enmeshed into the culture of Westchester, NY than I did while in this ice cream parlor. Some of the flavors are named after local high schools and I felt like it was a staple of the community. I saw many locals of a variety of ages and enjoyed samples of many of their flavors. There also was a refrigerator filled with ice cream cakes. One thing of note was that they had a $10 minimum for paying with card. They did not only sell ice cream but also some non-food items and there were little machines where you put in a quarter and get a trinket in return. There was seating available for maybe like 8 people? I am not too positive. Thank goodness we skipped Carvel for this. Carvel has gone downhill quickly (at least by me in Charlotte), so we figured a change was in order. After having dinner at Tarry Lodge in Port Chester, we made the quick 10 minute trip to Rye to have Longford's. The line was out the door on a warm, Sunday night, which was a great sign. I got a scoop of something with caramel I think (it's been a few weeks so I can't remember exactly what it was called) with hot fudge. Then the girl that was serving me did something I have not had done for me in years. She put the sundae in a bigger cup so it didn't spill all over. Usually I have to ask for a bigger cup, but she was smart and went ahead and did it. Great service. That's knowing the product and the customer. Way to go! The ice cream was delicious. Creamy, rich, smooth, and cold. The hot fudge was awesome as well. We walked around Rye while eating it and it was just really nice. The ice cream hit the spot. Why no 5 stars then? There was nothing that was super amazing--the whipped cream was from a can, the ice cream is full of fake things, and there isn't an incredible view or something. Small little joint in the heart of Rye. Great, home-made ice cream. I had the Smores in a delicious waffle cone. Wow, what a throw back to all the rocky road lovers out there. Kelly had the coffee chocolate chunk - no complaints. Large variety of ice creams/frozen yogurts/slush puppies. Candy corner for the kids. Pros: Plain and simple - Delicious home-made ice cream. Exactly what I was looking for. Very friendly staff. ... not going to lie, the beginning of summer, i made the twenty minute trip here about five times a week. i can't speak much of all the flavors, but i'm absolutely obsessed with graham slam (graham cracker crust, chocolate bits, vanilla). the ones that i have tried (and also liked, but not as much as graham slam) are candy shop, honey coffee, bear tracks, cookie monster (mmm... my friend's always get this), and banana ("refreshing", but i generally prefer "rich/sweet" ice cream, and save the fruity flavors for froyo). i'm not sure why people are complaining about the prices really because they're on par with what i pay at the likes haagan dazs. the kid's cup/cone sizes are always sufficient to leave me satisfied. Stumbled upon this place while doing business in rye for the day and boy was I happy I found this place. They are celebrating 20 years in business. The ice cream shop has that old school intimate feel to it which is great. The ice cream itself is delicious, it is creamy and smooth and flavorful. I tried the Cookie Monster, which is vanilla ice cream with pieces of chocolate chip cookies inside. By the way even thou it was vanilla ice cream it was blue in color which gave it the cool factor. Came here for a 4th of July ice cream treat and it was delicious! I got the coconut mounds and it was so delicious. The coconut was not overwhelming or too sweet. It was delicious and refreshing. This place has delicious homemade ice cream. And it shows. The line snakes out the door, even on a Monday, which is when we tried it. I tasted a few flavors and decided to go with moose tracks and chocolate with chocolate chunks. Both were delicious. We were a party of many adults and kids, and every single person loved this ice cream. Not only was the ice cream delicious, but the servers behind the counter were very friendly and helpful.
