Stopped in for a quick lunch. I believe it was the only restaurant open in the town. The ambiance was western theme. Nicely decorated with Weiss which was warm and inviting. I ordered a grilled chicken salad with cranberries and almonds. The chicken was hot however it came out too quickly. Like reheated chicken breast which was rubbery. The Blue cheese dressing was nice and thick with chucks of blue cheese. My husband order the BLT which he enjoyed. He ordered sweet potato waffle fries which was an up charge. They were over cooked and not plentiful. The best part of lunch was the dessert. The cheese cake was creamy and fresh.

Let's get to it - Jalapeño Poppers w/ spicy raspberry jam & ranch - 4/5 nothing special, just bar food poppers. It seems to be popular in this area to serve it w/ raspberry jam. I'd say half Ranch & half Jam was a good combo. Bison Ribeye medium - 5/5 absolutely flavorful & cooked to perfection. If I only ordered this, minus the server & sides, I'd say #1 they'd get 5/5 stars. Best Ever Bison Ribeye! Top Sirloin medium - 2/5 hardly any flavor except BP, below average, cooked more medium rare, which I don't mind, except it was tough. Outback has a better steak by far! Side Salad - 5/5 fresh, crisp & shockingly a good variety of dressings. I had the Spicy Garlic Honey. Not really spicy, but very sweet. Mango Vinegarette was good w/ Blue Cheese mixed. Sides: Baked Potato - 2.7/5 totally a Wendy's drive-thru baked potato w/ a squeezeable to-go tube of sour cream. Bread Sticks - 2/5 dry & obviously is not the common dinner roll for steaks. On the menu they serve Hawaiian Rolls so not sure why steaks come w/ breadsticks... Coleslaw - 1/5 horrible. The presentation looked like it was someone else's leftovers & the slaw is all vinegar, no mayo or substance. Overall, our server (maybe Amber) was a zero. She was rude, didn't look at us as she asked if we needed anything more just at the wall towards the bathroom. Did not bring share plates for our app. She only looked at us when she brought the check.

Decided to stop by as a pit stop to grab early dinner here. The space is spacious and welcoming- reminds me of Texas Roadhouse. The waitress was very friendly and helpful to provide some recommendations. The grilled chicken was unexpectedly very delicious and definitely gets their sweet potato fries (you won't regret it!). The steak was delicious from what I was told as well.

Bacon avocado Chicken salad. Small size! Mango vinegrette dressing.

I wanted a salad and a glass of wine after visiting Devil's tower, and this place hit the spot. Bartender was awesome, food was great. The bacon avocado chicken salad had fresh ingredients and the mango vinaigrette dressing was great.

With few options in town, Longhorn Saloon looked like the best option. Service was slower than I'm used to, but we weren't in a rush to be anywhere. Boneless Buffalo Wings. Just what I wanted. They weren't too breaded and had a subtle kick of buffalo sauce, giving them mild heat. Perfect!

We needed a food stop on our 12.5hr drive home, through the open land. I started the search early and found this well-rated establishment, so, we plugged it in. We walked in as a party of 2 around 430pm to a fairly busy (Sturgis Rally time), though well-staffed, dining room & were seated immediately. Service wasn't the fastest- but our server was informed, thorough, friendly & everyone stayed busy the entire time. I did note everyone sticks to their own tables. No teamwork clearing dishes in passing other tables or assisting each other clearing the bug tables. I'd guess no tip pooling. We were advised on ordering that there is only brown gravy now, vs country gravy for the chicken fried steak, and opted to get it anyways. That was a mistake- it really doesn't work together but they have it listed with brown gravy on the new menus, so, sounds permanent & they piled on plenty of brown gravy. I'd also bet those are pre-breaded frozen steak/patties with fillers, it's a sad looking plate that reminded me of the old school cafeteria Salisbury Steak. I'd suggest pulling the dish if they aren't going to go back to the correct gravy. Or use up the remaining steaks as chicken fried steak sandwiches, instead of as pictured. On the flipside, my husband had a mighty fine flat iron steak - seasoned/cooked perfectly & the gal waited for him to cut in to verify that it was medium rare. His meal was far better than mine. I wish I'd gotten the flat iron & garlic mash, with no gravy! Yes, I shunned gravy. It pains me too. The breadsticks could go out with the salads, in my opinion, or not even exist. They just kinda seem to be unnecessary & add nothing for flavor or presentation. The ranch dressing was thick & tangy. The root beer had no bite, even though it was Bargs - machine probably could use some calibration. The beer was good & reasonably priced, with a nice local selection to choose from. Overall, it was a mix of good & ok. This was still definitely a better choice than fast food & there aren't a lot of other options close by. Service was good but slow - most importantly: proper temps on the food & we were given the information needed to make our own decisions - tho I still chose poorly.

Go here every year we're in town. Haven't been disappointed yet. Steak tips are the best we've had in SD. Buffalo ribeye was delicious.

Fun place for a burger and beer…read more Food in Deadwood is not for gourmands, so save yourself the time and money and go to Mustang Sally's for a straightforward meal. They even have a full bar! This is a sports bar, and they have the cool option to have a half portion of an appetizer instead of fries for a $3 upcharge. My husband was delighted to be able to have fried mushrooms as his side. The kids and husband had milkshakes, and they were made quickly, and everyone loved them. They have a bunch of local beers. I enjoyed my Rapid City made beer and enjoyed a sip of my husband's Spearfish beer. I had a burger, which was perfect. The fries were good. I also had some of my daughter's hot wings. They were meaty and spicy. I loved them, although I wish they had come with celery sticks. Not a big deal, though. The restaurant is decorated with old slot machines, which were fun for the kids to look at while we waited for our food.

After a long day of traveling, we called to place a takeout order about 30 minutes before closing. The employee who took our order, a woman in a green shirt, listened while my sister and I ordered, then let out a loud, frustrated sigh and said, "Ugh... is that it then?" Her tone made it very clear that our order was an inconvenience. When I arrived to pick up and pay, I stood at the counter much longer than I should have, and it became obvious I was being ignored. The woman in the green shirt who had taken our order made eye contact with me multiple times but continued to act as if I wasn't standing there. There were three employees behind the counter, yet none of them acknowledged me. The only person who finally came over to help was a kind woman who had been sweeping on the other side of the restaurant. She stopped what she was doing because no one else would. I have 13 years of waitressing experience, so I completely understand how frustrating last-minute orders before closing can be. However, that's never an excuse to treat paying customers with disrespect. We called before closing, were polite throughout the interaction, and simply expected basic customer service. If taking an order 30 minutes before closing and acknowledging a customer at the counter is too much to ask, then maybe customer service isn't the right fit. Being busy is understandable. Being rude and pretending customers don't exist isn't. Needless to say, we won't be back.

Yes it was Sturgis…read morerally bike week, and yes should have made reservations but we didn't, that is why we went early. Standing at host desk. Looking into dining room, 3 maybe 4 tables seated, rest are empty. My odds are good! "Can we have dinner?" I asked with a smile. - Do you have a reservation? - Sorry we don't. "Ahh, sorry we are fully booked." At first I thought he was joking, you know lifting the mood a bit. Nope, dead serious- sorry we are booked. I look at him, look over his shoulder into empty dining room, back at him. - Nothing? - You can have food at the bar on second floor, but we are booked up here. "We are here through tomorrow, you have anything for tomorrow early?" - Sorry, fully booked. You need to make reservations months in advance. (I should mention, we had a gift card for this place, we live in CA, go to Sturgis every year for bike rally, so someone got us a gift card for this place.) I remember being in Sturgis in 2019 and 2020 during covid shutdown, all the restaurants were appreciating business we brought in. Well, that was then, this is now. We are booked he said with an empty dining room behind him. Went to a different casino, they too were booked and no walk ins but the difference was that second casino restaurant was proper booked, every table was full. So went to a third casino and had a steak there. I get it, you are booked, but with 75% empty dining room that just sounds like you are not interested. Anyways, it sounds like a lovely place and very popular so be sure to book in advance. For us- we gona skip it next year.

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Deadwood…read more My wife and I stumbled upon this incredibly unique and peaceful wine house just steps away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Deadwood--and what a discovery it was. In a city known for its casinos and saloons, this beautifully restored home offers an entirely different kind of experience: one centered around relaxation, quality, and taste. Housed in a gorgeously maintained historic property, this spot features multiple cozy rooms filled with elegant furnishings and stained glass windows, along with spacious porches both upstairs and downstairs where you can unwind with a glass or bottle of wine. The ambiance alone makes it worth a visit. The wine selection is top-tier and surprisingly affordable, especially for South Dakota. They offer a solid list of wines by the glass or bottle, but also have a curated room filled with exceptional bottles from around the world--at prices that beat anything else we saw in the area, whether in Custer or Deadwood. You can enjoy your wine there (with a small corkage fee) or take it home. To complement the wine, they serve thoughtfully arranged charcuterie boards featuring a variety of cheeses, fruits, and other healthy bites. You can also add sliced salami to customize your board further to enhance the experience. This isn't your typical restaurant or wine bar--it's more like being invited into someone's beautifully curated home for a relaxing afternoon or evening. It's a peaceful, upscale oasis in a town that can sometimes feel a little wild. Highly recommended if you're looking for something refined, memorable, and just a short stroll from the main strip.
