I've yet to make a bad to selection at Longhorn. This time around, I had the chicken and ribs combo which was nothing short of delicious with a matching loaded sweet potato coupled with a creamy side of mac n cheese! To wash it all down, I had a dragonfruit margarita to wash it all down after savoring one of my favorite meal combinations!

I stopped in last night for dinner after a long drive. My waitress was super friendly and checked in on me often. I decided on the 9oz filet with roasted brussel sprouts, that came with bread and butter and a side salad. The bread was served warm and the salad was fresh. The filet melted in my mouth and was super flavorful. The brussel sprouts were served with a honey butter that was very tasty. All in all, I was very pleased with my meal.

This was my first time going to LongHorn in years and I had a positive experience. I decided to order the lemon garlic chicken with a side of mashed potatoes and I highly recommend for anyone who doesn't have a big appetite. The salad was just okay. Our waitress was super kind and very fast bringing everything we needed out.

Update from April 27th- Immediately sat down & enjoyed the Parmesan spinach dip for an appetizer with no wait! We both ordered lamb chops & was too full to eat all of it but was seasoned well. The highlight was the Brussel sprouts! Goodness! They were yummy

Went for lunch and had a sirlon steak and loaded. baked potato. The steak was average in both taste and chew. The potato was decent. No waiting to get seated. Server was efficient and friendly. Warm bread was also average.

12/24/24: We stopped by to get a bite to each for lunch. It was our first visit. Unfortunately, the hostess left much to be desired. She was NOT friendly at all. There was no one else waiting & she was near the bar area just lollygagging. She acted like we were interrupting her when she came to thr podium. She didn't speak. She just looked at us and I told her it was 2 of us. She TOLD us to follow her & she took us to our booth. She didn't say anything else. She just walked away. We still looked over the menu when I was already turned off just to give them a chance. We didn't see anything that appetizing to still give them our business. As we walked out, our waiter was walking towards us. He was more friendly and told us to have a Merry Christmas. That is the only reason they are getting 3 stars. I can't speak on food. The service of the hostess ruined our visit. We won't be back.

I went to a Longhorn Steakhouse in Orlando a few months ago. It was pretty good so we decided to try this one tonight, while we were in Raleigh. We used the "Waitlist" function for this restaurant to cut down our wait time. It worked well since this restaurant was pretty busy. I had a nice 6oz Steak that was cooked to perfection (the way I ordered it - Medium Rare) with a Baked Potato and side salad. My son had a New York that he really liked and his girlfriend ordered a Strawberry Pecan Salad (the salad was really large) We had a very attentive server who really looked after us. Overall nice experience with good food!!

I've been wanting to try Longhorn after I saw the hysteria about the lamb chops. I asked my friend to accompany me since she had never been also. I went online to see about making reservations, they didn't allow but you could join the waitlist and I'm glad I did. The waitlist stated about 15-20 mins, once we arrived they stated about 15 minutes, we went to the bar to have a drink. Our waitress Jazmin was very nice, I could tell she was very busy. We started off with the shrimp and peppers appetizer, it was nice and hot and very good. I opted for the Parmesan crusted lamb chops that come with spinach and mashed potatoes and one other side, I chose broccoli. I was a little thrown off when our server asked if I wanted it soft, asked her to explain. She stated they would steam twice, I said no. I like my broccoli to have some crunch, but it was overcooked. The lamb chops were delicious, a little too much cheese for me but the spinach was the best thing on my plate. My companion ordered the full rack of ribs sauce on the side. The ribs looked as if they could have been placed under the broiler for about ten minutes, they also lacked seasoning. She stated the corn was good, and the baked potato was also good. I will go back to try a steak. The place was very busy for a Monday night, it's a large restaurant, very nice relaxed atmosphere.

Always a good time! No fuss no muss for a quick bite...which turned into being there for over an hour. Service was great. Food was good!! Shrimp were cooked just right! (I abhor overcooked tough shrimp...dont you?) Hubs ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender. Mac and cheese was ok...needed a teensy bit more cheese. But overall GOOD EATS!

Decided lamb chops were back we should go there for date night & I had a gift card - perfect time to use it! We joined the waitlist (at the time it was a 50 minute wait) and we arrived about 15 minutes later and checked in. We were told it would be about another 45-50 minute wait and if we hadn't joined waitlist it would be hour & fourth five minute wait.. then we had another lady tell us it would be another 30 minutes... this is a repeat problem for them- joining the waitlist means nothing. Luckily we spotted a bar table and snagged that! The manager gave us an appetizer because he remembered us going thru the same issue previously. Little did we know the appetizer was going to be the best part of the meal! The chicken and shrimp skewers looked absolutely delicious, but when you flip it over it was burnt - all of it! So we sent it back and it took about 20 minutes for it to come back out at that point we were just ready to go so we had it boxed up. The lamb chops didn't have a lot of flavor and 2 of the four were burned also and it just remained on the plate and they just looked at it and didn't bother to ask to replace it or anything. Also, there were 2 nice size lamb chops cooked well - the two that were burned looked like it should have been one and they cut it in half. The mashed potatoes were good and plentiful, however the spinach was literally a teaspoon full & I asked where was the rest of it? Our server said that's how it comes out, but I'll see can I find you some and he brought me a little sauce cup stuffed with spinach and it was cold... the lamb chop sauce was absolutely horrible - it tasted like straight garlic! Needless to say nothing about this visit to Longhorn was delightful! We didn't even get to eat anything together except for the shrimp and it was date night! They decided to take of the chicken and shrimp and the appetizer was a given so I ended up paying for the horrible lamb chop dinner and our drinks. There is adequate parking for the guests and it is an average priced restaurant $20-$35 per person. I will be very mindful about the times I visit this restaurant IF I go back to this location again. They don't take reservations.

Pic of our plates we were left to sit with. Would have been all the appetizer plates and empty cups if I had not got up to move them.

The restaurant is beautiful, cozy, and comfortable, and the hosts and servers have been excellent every time. We made reservations once through OpenTable and once by phone -- both were easy, and reservations are probably a good idea since they stay busy. The food has been great both times. On our first visit, my husband and I shared the ribeye and loved the flavor. Their Caesar salad is also surprisingly unique and delicious with broccolini instead of a traditional Caesar style. I also really appreciated being able to order a single Rockefeller oyster since most places require a half dozen minimum. The second time we visited for an early Mother's Day dinner with my son and shared the off-menu tomahawk, which was excellent as well. The only consistent issue we've had has been steak temperature. We usually order medium, but their interpretation of medium has come out significantly more rare than expected. The first time, we had to send the steak back, and they asked us to identify only the undercooked portions to recook separately, which was a bit awkward and something we hadn't experienced before at a steakhouse. The second time, we tried being more specific and even requested an approximate temperature around 140°, but the steak came out closer to medium-well. That said, the flavors, atmosphere, and service have been so enjoyable that we'll absolutely keep coming back. We're just hoping we can eventually land on the perfect medium steak on a future visit.

We made a rookie mistake: no reservation. Day before Christmas Eve. The only table available was by the door, which, for us, is a hard no. It was already chilly outside, and sitting by the door means constant drafts, tense shoulders, and food cooling faster with every opening. Not ideal, especially when you're settling in for a proper steak dinner. To their credit, the hostess tried everything--even showing us the reservation layout for the evening. The owner came over personally, and in the end, our options were simple: take the door table or come back at 7:30 pm when more tables would open. We were hungry, but we chose comfort over impatience. My dad left his number just in case a table opened sooner. We went home, had light snacks, and--surprise--got a call at 6:55 pm. Not only was a table available, it was a booth. That alone told me everything I needed to know about how they run this place. Stellar Client Care. When we returned, the owner John Linderman, met us at the door--warm, apologetic, and genuinely appreciative that we came back. The entire staff operates like a well-oiled team, with hospitality that feels intentional rather than performative. It's been a good while since I experienced an owner manager stop by every table to check in. A gesture from better dining times. Now, the food. We ordered: * Stuffed Shrimp with crab meat * Sausage bombs * Prime rib * A tomahawk ribeye to split I don't know if Harvey John's is officially farm-to-table, but the steak tasted incredibly clean--like actual beef. As a native New Yorker living in Los Angeles, I've eaten at many top-tier steakhouses--BOA, Ruth's Chris, Musso & Frank, Nick & Stef's, Steak 48--and I can confidently say this tomahawk was more flavorful and tasted fresher than all of them. Who knew a small-town North Carolina steakhouse would deliver a truly high-end experience? I'm no chef, but I do have a refined palate, and this meal was memorable. Honestly? If Michelin ever looks this way, they should take note. It's comforting to know you can leave one of the biggest food cities in the world and still find a steakhouse worthy of becoming a new regular favorite. Pro tip: Make a reservation--just to be safe. Cheers to Harvey John's.

There's parking on the street nearby, as well as a couple of parking lots available nearby as well. I know Downtown Clayton has started putting up some signs for paid parking, so just pay attention when parking. That being said, there are plenty of options for parking. I've been numerous times for lunch and dinner and always enjoy my visits. The staff is friendly and definitely fits the small-town/family vibe of Downtown Clayton. The restaurant is small, but still a great size, and never too packed. I love the simplicity of the menu. There are good options, but it's not too much or overkill. Although they are a steakhouse, there are quite a few other great options if you don't eat steak or want something. The steaks are always cooked well and correctly with lots of flavor. I love a good salad bar, and there are many times I've gone for a solo lunch just for the salad bar. It's not a huge salad bar, but there are great topping options, and it's always fresh, which I love. During lunch, they also have options for made-to-order cold sandwiches and wraps. Strict compliance meal limits of ~$170/pp and we came well under that! It was such a treat. The shareable apps were the duck meatballs & yeast rolls, and they were tasty! Maybe could have been more airy rolls but none were remaining on the table so all good. Some of us got salads in lieu of desserts, and the Caesar was great but different, a little too citrusy but nice/light/crunchy so I still really liked it. The stars of the show were the entrees & sides!! I chose the 6oz filet mignon & it was the highlight, cooked perfectly rare & needed zero sauce. Others chose either the scallops &/or seared halibut, and they loved them too. The shareable sides were honey glazed carrots, potato puree & mushroom bread pudding. They were all great, but the mushroom bread pudding was so unique; kinda like a stuffing with mushroom gravy but not overbearing & even the non-mushroom lovers liked it. When we arrived, the hostess asked if we were celebrating anything special, and so did our waitress. We told both of them that it was my birthday and that my wife's birthday is next week. Neither ever acknowledged it again. If you're going to ask about a special occasion, there should be some follow-through -- otherwise, what's the point in asking? Although our waitress started off friendly, her attitude shifted noticeably once she saw we ordered the burger. From that point on, she never came back to offer additional drinks, our water glasses remained empty, and we even noticed her spending a lot of time at other tables while completely ignoring ours. The most uncomfortable part was when my wife asked for a box so she could pack her leftovers herself due to a previous bad experience. The waitress said that wasn't allowed, took the food to the back, and never returned. We sat for quite a while until another staff member passed by and asked if everything was okay. Only then did we explain that we were still waiting for our boxed food. For a high-end restaurant, this was one of the poorest dining experiences we've had in a long time. The customer service simply isn't there, and we have no intention of returning.
