Visited for the first time. From the moment we walked in and were greeted warmly by the staff to the end, it was fabulous. The concept is very interesting. Our salads and appetizers were delicious and looked great. Our meals were very large servings and the food tasted great. The desserts were perfect. They had a very nice cocktail menu and the ones we tried were great. The entire wait staff were so friendly and attentive. Our server, Alex, did a great job handling our requests.. Very cozy feel to the inside. Very warm and inviting. I highly recommend and we will defiantly return again. There are so many great meal choices to try still. read more

Last night was our third time dining with Nataz and first time in the new location. They did a nice job with the new space. It is way more spacious than their previous location and nicely decorated. We sat in a nice Modular Half Moon Restaurant Sofa in the back. Felt like I was looking down upon the rest of the guests having dinner. Nice table just felt a bit like we were on display however I still enjoyed as I love the style of these tables. Our waiter I think was new and definitely did not know wine. We asked for a bottle of the Merlot, which he pronounced back to us "Mer-LOT." I couldn't help but chuckle a bit when he left the table. Someone else came and opened the wine for us and when our main server came to check on us, he grazed the side of my glass and freaked, telling us the glasses are $500 each and if he breaks one, it comes out of his paycheck. Ummm what? This stuff we probably should not know! Again, I think he was new, probably not having much experience as a waiter. He definitely needs training on how to pronounce wine! Moving on to the cheese, they used to give you a cheese board with a few different cheeses. It's a bit different now. They give you whipped butter, a few pieces of cheese (last night was Cheddar), roasted red peppers, and whipped goat cheese with a touch of honey on top and some bread. Not sure if this changes/rotates at their new location. We chose not to do the raw bar or appetizer courses (fyi those are extra). For my salad, I chose the Signature Salad (forgot to take a picture of this course). This is where things went downhill for me. I asked for no apples. He said no problem. He did not tell us they ran out of the dried cranberries and caramelized nuts which to me make the whole salad. I used to love this salad at the old location. So, when telling us the specials he did say he "thinks" they had one salmon entree left, but had to check. Restaurants run out of things, and I get it, but take that salad off the menu if you're out of 2 ingredients and the customer asks for no apples. All that we got on our salads was lettuce, gorgonzola and fried potato skins. I feel like I had French fries on top of lettuce. It was awful. Also, I'm the only one that asked for no apples and my boyfriend got the same salad I got with only potato skins and lettuce and gorgonzola so clearly they were running out of things. We then saw other customers getting the same salad lacking main ingredients. For my entree, I got the Heavenly, which was supposed to have a lobster sauce. I couldn't put my finger on what the flavor of the sauce was. It was strange. It wasn't bad, it just didn't really go with the lobster. It had a brown tint to it. The manager came over after we ate and asked us how things were, and I told him about the salad and asked what the flavor in the sauce was. He told us a crab style sauce which made sense. Boyfriend had the filet. He said it wasn't Ruth's Chris good, but it was good. Mashed potatoes were very bland. Presentation was pretty bad. Dessert they get from a third party. I had the flourless chocolate cake which was the best part of the meal. Desserts are where they have improved with the new location. They used to give you petit fours style desserts, and now they give you full size desserts. It was delicious. I really want to like this place more because I like the concept of what they do. I guess on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays the chef creates whatever he'd like for guests for $25 a head. Mystery meals. The manager said that's where the name "Adventures in Eating" comes from. Again, we had come here previously, and I had a problem the last time with the Branzino where the waitress didn't tell me it came as the whole fish. Nataz has a very pleasing decor and good wait staff but, overall, I'd have to rate this place hit or miss. The menu is "pseudo prix fixe," in that cost for any dinner includes a small appetizer, salad, entree and dessert. However, depending on the entree selected, the price varies. Typically, they were $35 - $45. By no means outrageous. However, I found the portion sizing a bit chintzy. My companion ordered a glass of wine that was only less than 1/4 filled. And the appetizer, which we were told by the waiter was like a "cheese board" for two, was basically about 6 small mozzarella balls and a small scoop of some whipped cheese. It did come with some tasty fresh bread a delicious compound butter mixed with a honey/salt glaze. My companion's entree was perhaps the most disappointing. The dish was "lobster," which we errantly anticipated to be a whole one. What we got, instead, was basically a large scoop of lobster melange in tomato sauce. Not very tasty and embarrassingly small. It was presented in a big white dish, making the sizing look even smaller. Dessert cakes were tasty, but we're not much more than slivers. To top things off, there was a mandatory 20% tip. My feeling is the customer- not the restaurant owner - should determine any service charge. A good, but not exceptional, experience. read more

I was totally wowed by Nataz. We went to dinner with some friends on a Sunday night. We tried the menu they offer where the food served is the chef's choice. We were blown away by the quality of each dish!! We were served bread and cheese, oysters, tender meatballs, wedge salads, pea risotto with shrimp, and beef with mashed potatoes. I Everything was family style, except for the salads. We couldn't get over how good the food was!! We ordered desserts as well (not included) and they were crowd pleasers. For dessert, we had the flourless chocolate cake, coconut custard bar, and tiramisu. Everything was delicious and we left very full!! Service was friendly and the prices were more than fair. We all agreed that we will be returning to Nataz soon. read more

I have to say what a great experience. The food is amazing. We had the prize fixe menu what a great idea you pick the entrée of your choice salad , dessert and Grazing Board included. The Grazing Board was a nice little surprise . I had the rack of lamb it came with 6 chops perfectly cooked and seasoned I also had the wedge salad it was good but just wish the tomatoes and bacon could have been cut up smaller for dessert I ordered the coconut custard bar that wasn't my favorite. It had very little custard, and it was quite hard to chew. My husband had the Veal chop it was outstanding with a lot of flavor cooked perfectly he asked to substitute the mashed potatoes for roasted vegetables, which wasn't a problem!! He had the flourless chocolate cake it was delicious that was a big hit wow . Service was on top of everything and friendly. Ambiance was quiet dining also casual. Great place for a date night. I chose this place for an intimate setting to celebrate a milestone stone birthday with my best friends. It was cozy and warm, with a darker ambiance. Our server was phenomenal. She greeted us and gave us time to get settled and from beginning to end was very attentive and friendly. Nataz is a 4 course adventure in eating dining experience. We started with a grazing board for the table which included bread, butter, cheese slices, olives, strawberries and raspberries with a goat cheese ball covered in nuts and honey. We also started off with the crab cake and were kind of bummed they only had one left, but was happy because when we each took a bite, it was delicious. They also redeemed themselves by coming over with a complimentary meatball appetizer that had happy birthday written on the plate! It was so cute and yummy. Unfortunately while ordering our meals they also ran out of a few dishes, one being the heavenly lobster dish I specifically came for. But did have some extra fish options that were specials that were not listed on the menu. I ordered the cod served over a linguini clam sauce and it was good and a very light meal which I enjoyed after stuffing my face with bread. I also took a bite of everyone's dishes and overall it was a great eating adventure for me! Everything was great and we were so full that I had to take home the included dessert which was a lemon mascarpone. I ate it for breakfast and it was one of the best breakfasts I've had!! I was invited to the Southington locale to attend my granddaughter's birthday dinner. I arrived a little ahead of the 6PM appointed hour and was seated immediately. The lead Waiter was very accommodating, explaining their service model, asking about any food allergies and serving my Hendricks & Tonic with double lime. When the remaining party members arrived, we were immediately served a "Grazing Board" containing cheeses, olives, bread & flavored butter. After taking our order choices, my Nataz Signature Salad appeared and others got the Nataz Wedge ...both received positive comments from our crowd. My entry choice was the Nataz Original Zuppa Fra Diavolo and it was HUGE & tasty, The Birthday Girl got the Delmonico Steak and was VERY pleased with her choice. The third course was a choice of desserts of which most of us got "to go", given the generous servings that preceded it. This place is a gem in downtown Plantsville, and the food was delicious. Kareem, our server, was honestly one of the best servers I've had in a long time. The menu was explained very well. You get a 4 course meal, starting with a little charcuterie board, then a salad. My girlfriend got a huge bone in steak that was charred and cooked to perfection. I got salmon that was real tasty. Both paired great with the sides. And dessert of your choice to finish it off. Best part is the price wasn't too expensive. 1 price for the whole 4 course. 35$ for the salmon, can't beat that. You will not be disappointed! Great value! The bread was waiting on table when we got seated, they quickly brought out charcuterie board and apparently since it was a slow and just after opening up the chef had time and to make something extra for us, garlic cheese bread with olive tapenade. Definitely a delicious addition. Then you get to choose one of two salads. I did signature it was yummy! I ordered filet perfectly cooked as I ordered it and flavorful and my mom got rack of lamb, no complaints. Service was quick, though it was a Thursday at 6p when we went. Everyone was friendly! Nataz finds a way to make a perfect place better each time we go. It is always too good to be true and better than we deserve (We''re not worthy!) This week we tried the Chef's Choice meal which is only offered on Wednesday Thursday and Sunday evenings with best friends. While I was excited for an adventure, and am accustomed to Nataz always high quality food, we were so pleasantly surprised by course after course of the most luxurious and lovingly made foods anyone could hope for. Even better than their superb menu fare. And the chefs choice price point makes us feel like we are stealing the food. The service is always the most pleasant and gracious one could hope for. The chefs even came out to say hi during dessert to ensure we were pleased. While we would happily keep this secret to ourselves, I wanted to make sure the amazing peeps and food was recognized. Nataz in Southington is a true gem! We had my company's holiday party here mid-week during the day before they opened for regular dinner service and it was AMAZING! The setup was great for our group and the restaurant was decorated beautifully. We had two dedicated waitresses, Sara and Heather, who went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a drink upon sitting down and that everyone got their food in a timely manner. Both Sara and Heather were very polite and accommodating, even weaving in and out of our employees and Santa participating in a gift exchange. Special thank you to Chuck for setting everything up for us! The food was exceptional! From the grazing boards to the salads to the entrees and dessert, everything was flavorful and cooked/presented perfectly. Drinks were too sweet, food was overall not bad. The salmon did not taste fresh at all, but the snapper was pure perfection. Espresso was so bitter I could not stomach it, it tasted burnt. Dessert was wonderful. Overall, some hits and misses but infinitely better quality than anything else center st has to offer. The interior was much nicer than I had anticipated, and service was top notch. Our server truly was the sweetest and apologized about the salmon, was incredibly attentive to our needs so I'll bump my rating a bit for that. read more

Great little Hidden Gem in the center of Southington. As the other reviews have stated it's 4 course prix fixe menu. I got the filet which was done perfectly. My friend got the salmon and was also very satisfied. Everything was cooked perfectly. Portions are not large but due to the cheese board salad and dessert, everything works well together. It is a very cozy setting with smaller rooms. My only complaint was that there was no chocolate option on the dessert plate. read more

Many options to choose from for the main course. This steak has the most amazing crust on it, tastes like bacon. Have lived 1 mile from this restaurant since it opened and only just dined with them last evening. My immediate thought was, " Why in the world did I wait this long?" The building itself is picturesque, and the interior is charming and full of character. Service is exceptional from greeting to finish. Our party of 4 was sat upstairs at a long table. The chairs are beautiful and comfortable. The tables may be tight, but you do not feel crowded. We ordered potatoe croquettes and calamari as an appetizer. We were offered a cheese board on the house, which was one of the highlights. The four cheeses were delightful. We were then offered a short rib croquette in a rich demi sauce. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the fry was perfection. The potatoe croquettes were rich and delicate and placed in the most beautiful house made buttermilk ranch. The salads were thoughtfully assembled, and although I received the wrong salad ( I had mentioned both salads so it was not reflective of the amazing service), I was very pleased with the wedge salad. The blue cheese was extraordinary, and the bacon was abundant and perfectly cooked. Onto the main. On the recommendation of our waiter, I choose the chicken pomodoro. And what a meal it was. The portion was massive, so much that I can happily have dinner today. The chicken was juicy and tender, and the crisp on the exterior was a perfect balance, and the sauce was sweet and seasoned expertly. It speaks volumes when you can't critique a single item placed in front of you. This restaurant provides a true dining experience. My daughter suggested we try this place and so glad we did...At the time they did not have a liquor license so grabbed a bottle of wine we took with us. Ordered raw bar as an appetizer was fresh as could be. I have the veal and my daughter had the steak. First it comes with a charcuterie board included in the prefix meal, just the right amount of delicious cheeses etc. main course could not finish but perfectly cook and again delicious. You then get a plate of small bite desserts. 3-4 different ones. All in all excellent. Can't wait to go again read more

Aps: Signature Calamari was sensational (not pictured) huge portion. Prime Meatballs is one large, lemon zest infused which made it bright and interesting. Lil bit to much lemon. To balance, Chef could have offset w a diff option and non red traditional tom sauce. Salads were good. Entries took a long time to arrive. This was not a negative aspect; in ordering the HUGE tomahawk and porterhouse we knew there would be a wait. Chef also gave us a polite heads up. Once meats and lobster pasta arrived talking was replaced with "mmm mm mmm'ing". Kudos Chef Rick. Dessert was typical and yummy. Ask server for which are outsourced for house-made. Go with those. Price points were VERY reasonable and group was pleased with ROI Great option was their BYOB policy! Ty for that Chef. - 1 star reasons: took multiple messages to secure reservation. Sm restaurant. Following the unfortunate incident, Im also deducting 1 star due to the fact that the, admittedly embarrassed waitress abandoned the table. Servers delivered food. She came by once and made snarky comments. Not intentionally a rude person but the group wished that the service was stepped up so the incident didnt impact the entire experience and she seemed to not get past her mistake even though our guests tried. We have no doubt that the incident threw off the night. However Chef Rick did a good job. And for a lack of formal training he sure knocked it outa the park. I used to be a fan of the old Nataz in Southington. It was never 5 star dining, but the food was good and plentiful, the prix fixe was a great value, and the BYOB was a nice option. Unfortunately, the new location doesn't live up to the old standards. Between the service and the kitchen, our last visit was one fail after another on a Saturday night when they were fully staffed. We had to make multiple concessions and accommodations for a multitude of problems. To start, the restaurant was cold and drafty because they keep the kitchen door open during service hours. After cocktails, we were served a room temperature $50 bottle of white wine by a server who didn't know the difference. Instead of sending it back, we asked for an ice bucket, and waited until it was chilled enough to drink. Our second bottle of what is usually an excellent $60 red wine, tasted off, most likely due to improper storage. We decided not to send that one back either because, by that time, the evening was in a full blown downward spiral. There was also a wait for wine glasses with each bottle because the restaurant doesn't stock enough. When the glasses finally arrived all cloudy and unappetizing, we wet our napkins and wiped them down ourselves when the server was nowhere to be found. Service was painfully slow and choppy the entire night. Ordering was an ordeal. They were out of almost everything we ordered from both the main menu and the specials. The server came back 3 separate times to take substitute orders because they kept running out of stuff. It took over an hour to get our orders in for meals we didn't really want, but they claimed they had. The cheese board starter was uncharacteristically meager and slow on this visit. It's never been anything to write home about, but at least it used to be plentiful. The meals finally arrived 1.5 hours after that. The so-called "NY strip" was in no way, shape or form a NY strip, or anything close to it, but nobody bothered to tell us they were out of that too. It looked like something Fred Flintstone would serve up, and as usual, the server said nothing. Between the server and the kitchen, someone made an arbitrary decision to substitute a completely different, extremely fatty, honking slab of meat for a NY strip. The zuppa, which we've had a number of times, was about half its normal size, and was missing clams, mussels, calamari and wide noodle pasta. What we got instead was a pile of shrimp with 1 small clam and 2 mussels over angel hair pasta. No scallops, no calamari, not even the correct pasta. Again, nobody told us, and the server couldn't care less. There's no excuse for anything that transpired that night, especially in that price range. If you're going to serve expensive wine, do it right, get your glasses somewhere other than the dollar store, and make sure they're clean. Keep your fridges adequately stocked, and make sure you always have enough of your signature items on hand, at minimum. Diversify your specials to include proteins other than steak. You always know how many diners you'll be serving on a Saturday night. Plan accordingly. If there's a need to substitute anything, consult with the customer first. When plates come out wrong at 9:30 pm, nobody wants to go through round 4 of the roulette ordering process and eat past 10:00 pm. Our $125 per person tab and 3.5 hours of wasted time were downright insulting. Nataz's prices include service, but I wonder if it would have been better if they didn't. We had a guest with us that night, and the experience was extremely embarrassing and disappointing. I think our Nataz days are over. read more

The new location is beautiful. The staff were warm, attentive and welcoming. I was delighted to find a wine list that was so comprehensive yet reasonably priced. The house butchered meats were cooked to perfection. The Delmonico steak, prepared Pittsburg styled, was the best I have ever eaten. They offered us a variety of sauces to accompany the meat and the chef made a special sauce for me with Gorgonzola cheese as a bonus. The desserts were fantastic. It was a birthday celebration and the entire staff made a tremendous effort to ensure that the evening was truly unforgettable. We will definitely return so we can try the other dishes. read more

We both had the swordfish special and it was very dry! The service wax just ok! Dessert was included with the price fix menu, the only chocolate option was not available and the coconut cake was do hard you could break your teeth! Very disappointing!
