Five stars for the service and three stars for the food. Split the difference, and you have four stars. Really, the people who work here are so friendly and accommodating. I visited shortly after I arrived to Lake Lawn Resort, because my room wasn't ready and I had to wait to check in. So I strolled over to The Lookout Bar & Eatery for a lil' drink and a Caesar salad to kill some time. I got a hefeweizen to start, and then a Blue Moon with an orange slice in it. Both of these were on tap at the bar. The bar was kind of empty when I visited, so I had my server's full attention, and she made sure that everything was all good. I got a Caesar salad to eat, which was fine. It wasn't the best Caesar, and I don't think I would order it again, but it made me less hungry, and it was a salad, so it did its job. Its mediocrity didn't stop me from eating it all. A couple of days later, I visited The Lookout Bar for a big glass of red wine to take back to my room. The server poured me a hearty glass and said, "This should get you drunk!" I appreciated his enthusiasm and confidence in his pour. Overall, I think I would visit The Lookout for drinks but not food. Or if you do get food, then set your expectations low. read more

This was a subpar experience. We started with the wings, got the naked. They were the highlight of the meal. The bbq sauce, on the side, was sweet, maybe made with apple cider vinegar. The pulled pork sandwich was decent...the meat was good, the bun was soft, but there was not enough sauce. It's as if the sauce was put on the bun, not that the meat was tossed in it. The Cole slaw is very creamy, it was on the side. The fries were meh, they cost $2 for an upgrade. The chicken Caesar salad was not good. The chicken was fine, a bit thickly sliced, but again, it's as if nothing was mixed up. The sauce was only in one part of the wrap. The service was odd. The waitress ordered our app, and then was no where to be found until she brought it out. Then, after delivering the food, she never checked on us. We were one of two tables. Both starts are for the good service, food is zero stars. This was some of the worst food I've ever eaten in my life, unfortunately twice. We stayed at Lake Lawn Resort two nights, and ate here both nights for dinner at the request of others in my party. Night one I got a burger for $19 I think it was. The patty was small and thin, much worse than a McDonald's burger. They put two giant tomatoes on it perhaps hoping I wouldn't notice. No one at the table loved their food, we were just starving from traveling. I was still hungry after eating. The kids Mac n cheese is actually Kraft from the box! I've never seen a restaurant with the audacity to serve that and charge for it. Mind blown. Night two was the measliest, saddest fish fry ever. Fish and sides were all super tiny. It was like being served a kids portion. Bizarre. My own fault for eating at this place twice, but as I stated it was an ask of my party so we didn't have to leave the resort. Drinks were weak, very watered down. Everything was overpriced for the quality. I'll happily pay $19 for a burger if it's good and I'm full after. Cheese curds were also the worst I've ever had, and that should have been easy to deliver on in WI. Our server was lovely and did a great job. No complaints there. Overall, get in your car for dinner and drive into town. The convenience of this place isn't worth the lousy food. read more

A solid option for predictable bar food that's prepared in a fairly standard manner. I was able to try a variety of items here, none of which were bad -- but none of which really stood out either. The setup, with easy access to the outside is probably one of the more unique features -- which makes it a good place for a social gathering. I feel this spot could use a bit more staff though, as the service was a bit sporadic. Overall, a solid choice for your bar favorites at reasonable prices. read more

My fiancée and I decided to lunch here on a Friday afternoon after a car trip up from Chicago. We decided to give this place another shot after eating here last summer and someone in our party discovered a bread bag tab in his chicken sandwich. We were optimistic, only to be met with further disappointment. We split the cheese curds which were good (but expensive) and both decided on chicken Caesar wraps for our entrée. Have you ever tried eating a roll of paper towels? We hadn't either. The wraps themselves looked ok, however were grossly missing the most important ingredient: Caesar dressing. The chicken looked like it had been boiled, which is bizarre when most other wraps are grilled or breaded. The lettuce was soggy and appeared to have been sitting around in the kitchen. There was no TLC in the wrapping process as the contents spilled over the plate after the first bite. To make matters worse, I spent the hours of 3 to 4 am firmly stationed on the toilet battling food poisoning, which I believe to be caused by this wrap. Legitimately the worst chicken Caesar wrap I have ever had. The service was decent. read more

We went for Friday Fish Fry. The food here is excellent. The view is amazing. Drinks are so so. I ordered an old fashioned and it didn't come with the premium cherries as advertised, just standard bar maraschino cherry. It was ok but after dinner I got another one at the outdoor bar and it was much better with the proper cherry. They also had live music outside which was a treat. Important to note is that it is very hard to find. They are located in the Lake Lawn resort and there aren't any signs. There is limited parking near the restaurant so you need to park in front and there is a long walk through the resort. There is also outside dining which we didn't know about when reserving our table. We will return. read more

Stayed at the Lake Lawn Resort during a quick getaway from quarantine and this was the only place to get food on the resort. Food was ok for what it was. Ordered breakfast n lunch from here. Ordered pizza (from somewhere else) for din. Chocolate chip Pancakes with bacon for my son. Hubby had eggs, toast, bacon, hash browns. They both liked what they had. Nothing for my daughter n I (were vegan) unless we got toast with jelly. Hash browns sounded great but I think it was made with butter. But for lunch my daughter n I got a BEYOND BURGER (meatless plant based patty). N I love places that have meatless options! The bun is a "yolk bun" so got it wrapped in a tortilla n I was good! Def would order that again! We like the resort so if we go back, for convenience we'd order from here again. read more

As a Delavan resident it is nice to have a place like the lookout to rely on. The food is great and consistent and the staff is friendly and attentive. There are serious lake views and in season a great Tiki bar outside. I would recommend for lunch, dinner or a Sunday outside funday. read more

We tried this for lunch and was not satisfied at all! I got the sriracha chicken sandwich and the chicken was not cooked well. Along with the Sriracha just poured completely over everything making a sandwich soggy and just enjoyable. My wife got the burger and which she asked for it to be plain but it came out with condiments and came out burnt beyond all belief. We ended up speaking with the manager and explaining how the sandwiches were a horrible and after taking one bite we did not want to stomach the rest of the food. When the manager came over he was very polite and willing to take those sandwiches off of our bill. However there is a silver lining with this. We got the Wisconsin cheese curds to share and they were quite good - however extremely overpriced. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is clean with a nautical theme. Maybe we got the wrong things on the menu. But I would not suggest this place based off of what we tried. read more

Really good food! We had a group of 7 women from the age of 23 to 88. It was a very busy Wednesday at the Lookout. Waited about 30 minutes for a table. Also, with the cost of the rooms on or off season being so expensive, it would be nice if they started putting money back into the resort. It's looking very run down and dated in general. Fun resort bar/restaurant located at Lake Lawn Resort. Only open on weekends during the Winter, not sure about Summer. Went on a Friday night and the place was packed with people mostly eating. We didn't eat but from what I saw the food looked to have nice portions and a great variety. The servers just kept bringing out the food and people just kept coming. Beer selection was decent with a variety of Imports and IPA. Only negative was the place doesn't have a restroom rather you have to use one in the resort portion down the hall. So let me start off by saying that I LOVE Lake Lawn. This place is like home away from home to me. If i get to pick a weekend getaway, it is here, no questions asked. But in the past few years, the Look Out Bar is just going down hill. The drinks are weak, the service is sporadic, the food is meh, and the prices are high. With the sheer number of people staying here on Summer weekends, you have got to do something to accommodate your guests. We were there for Karaoke last Friday, and ended up staying for only one round of drinks. It was so hot and loud in there, it was anything but a relaxing first night on vacation. We would have had maybe stayed for a second round if it hadn't taken the bartender 30 minutes to take our orders the first time (and we were sitting AT the bar). I wanted one of their special summer cocktails that I fell in love with a few years ago - but like most things, it is no longer on their menu. I love menu change and trying new things, but this place is weird with the constant turnover of their menus. Now it is nothing but margaritas. Not my style. After the wait, the heat, and the noise, we got up and left to head to one of the local bars on the lake. Quieter atmosphere and cheaper drinks. read more

we stay at Lake Lawn for our annual golf trip. this past weekend we came up, and stopped at Lookout Bar for some food and drinks Friday night. First off, there is an ongoing problem with this place being Understaffed. it was crowded Friday night, we sat in the bar by the stupid hoop game. it took us forever to get a drink or even noticed. finally we did and ordered some drinks and some food. all I am going to say........very overpriced. $18 for Nachos with chicken and had MAYBE a handful of chicken on it? Plus they were COLD! ridiculous! we are 4 guys...not college kids! we had maybe 2 bottled beers each, a few apps and we split 2 burgers........and we get a $125.00 BILL? yikes! They need to revamp their prices and maybe higher more help for the weekends. see ya next year.......... read more

The Lookout is really a mixed bag. The food is pretty good, though note, vegetarians, that the walnut burger has been withdrawn (perhaps a new state law that defines protein as either a meat or a cheese?). The service, on the other hand, is not so hot. Both waitresses that we had were a tad absent and out of tune with us. Lookout is an ok choice if you are staying on property, it has a nice view and the service was good considering the size of our group. Waitress did a good job and was friendly am accommodating to the kids we had with us. Why the one star you ask? The turkey club was the nastiest sandwich I have ever had. It was disgusting and gross. I wouldn't of given it to a dog as table scraps. The turkey or lack there of was cold and a slimey, and 1 sorry piece of bacon. And bland as hell. I took one bite and lost my appetite immediately. Since our group had plans afterwards I decided not to send it back and just chalked it up as a loss. But it was really a huge turn off and I doubt I'll ever eat there again. This place secured the bottom #1 on my list of restaurants that I have ever been. We ordered salad, rib and burger. I can never forget how awful the food are there. We left with the food almost untouched. I really want to punch the chef on his face. I have to give him that, it is really something that one can make French fries so terrible. We have eaten at the Lookout many times and have always had a great experience. However, rating our experience last night two stars is being generous. It was the night of the Packer playoff game AND a three-day holiday weekend. The entire restaurant was incredibly understaffed. One bartender?! Seriously?! We waited forever for drinks and even longer for a table. Then when our food finally came out, it was ice cold. The people who were working were running around like crazy to try and take care of everyone, but it was just impossible. The visit was very disappointing. read more

I was just there today for the advertised free corned beef sandwich and a Killian's (free if you had in Irish stamp on your passport). I was expecting a cold corned beef on rye with some generic chips and a pickle slice. And a 6oz glass of beer. I mean, after all, it was going to be free... What I got was a delicious hot corned beef sandwich on a pretzel roll with Swiss cheese, homemade potato chips, coleslaw and a full pint of beer. They certainly deliver on what they advertise! I'm originally from Delavan, where this place is located but never really bothered to check out the lookout (Mostly because I was a poor kid) But now that I am an established gentleman.... BEHOLD: Me and 5 of my other 20-something friends stopped off at this place as part of a demented pub crawl called "The Golden Mile". Where a Pint of beer is consumed at each of 12 bars in one evening. #Classy. We were 6 pints in at this point and very hungry. Beer- Decent selection, but we went with the special - A pitcher of "Lake Lawn's Amber". For only $10 it got 4 of us our 7th pint. The beer was tasty- not for everyone though. Food- I ordered the Chicken Nachos. They offer a Single plate for $9 and a platter to "share" for $12. Being the 235 lb drunk foodie that I am, I got the $12 Plate for myself, and since I was feeling spendy, I added the optional $.50 cup of sour cream. Food arrived in a reasonable amount of time (it was packed). Nachos we fantastic. Loaded with cheese, a bit light on the chicken, the Jalapenos were not too overly hot, and I had some left over to share. My buddies all got either burgers or Pulled Pork Sandwiches. They had really good things to say about the pulled pork! I think this place get a bad wrap due to out-of-towners that are expecting to be waited on hand and foot. Look- This is a RESORT. A word of advice- If a 6 dollar drink is going to upset you, there is a Motel 8 literally a mile up Hwy 50. Or better yet, stay in Chicago. Cheers, yuppies! read more

What a disappointment: I wish we had trusted our instincts and research and not dined here. We were staying at Lake Lawn and stopped by on a Saturday for a few drinks $6.50 for a tiny Captain & Coke was hardly a fair price but in an effort not to drink and drive, we stayed. The service was okay for a late night visit so we decided we'd watch the football games here the next Sunday. We got there Sunday a little before noon and decided to sit at the bar again. I hadn't had any coffee for the day, so asked for a cup of joe. I was asked if I wanted it with whiskey? What about Baileys? Rumchata? Finally I decided a non-alcoholic cup of coffee wasn't happening and settled on Rumchata. Later, we found out that my coffee with Rumchata was over $6!!! Whereas the bloody mary I later ordered was a little over $5. The bloody which, while I LOVE spicy food, was nearly undrinkable. After looking around us at the small appetizers, we became leary of ordering one, but given our hunger level, still got the cheese curds. While in Wisconsin, right? Not right. We could get better tasting and better portioned curds at Culvers! For $8, we got a handful of curds. We ordered our main meals as quickly as we could gather someone's attention: burger for hubby, and turkey club sandwich for me. My husband said the burger tasted like "something cooked at home" - it was thin, too heavily charred and small. I had requested the avocado spread be added to my turkey club and upon receiving it, the glop of "avocado" spread was in a cup to it's side. I did my best to like this sandwich...how can you mess up a turkey club? But it was horrible. The bread was burnt and stale and the ingredients tasted horribly. I ended up eating 1/4 of my meal and when the bartender finally took away our plates, looked at the remainder of food, and didn't even say one word to me (do you want a box? what was wrong? anything we can change?). He didn't care...why should he? The patrons will recycle out and other Lake Lawn stay-goers will visit and be disappointed and never visit again. Lookout Lounge overlooks Delavan Lake on the property of Lake Lawn Resorts. Although Lake Lawn Resorts has new ownership the year, the Lookout Lounge seems to be back up and running in typical style. They have a large bar area with five flat-screen televisions playing sports, a juke-box for music, and a patio for outdoor relaxation. There is also a dining room that is sometimes used for karaoke (though we will see if the new ownership maintains this tradition). The dining menu is small, but not too small. It has quality choices--sandwiches, hamburgers, personal pizzas, salads, appetizers, and some kid options. The cajun shrimp sandwich is done well, perfectly battered. The fries are heavily salted, but delicious. I also recommend their pina coladas. Very refreshing and not too sweet. Service is incredibly attentive, partially because things are just getting rolling for the summer so its a little quiet. But I imagine as business picks up they wont slack off. The servers are good. the food is good, not great. We were there for the weekend and had lunch + appetizers several times. The burgers were better than most and my wife liked her turkey wrap. The appetizers need some work. The nachos were just chips with a little easy cheese and a bit of salsa. For $9, I was expecting more. The fried shrimp was just ok. It seems like they were too concerned with making $$... You guys just re-opened...don't be afraid to serve the good stuff and make me come back! read more
