Any time I get the chance to visit Brodie's Beef, the experience is always great. The food is cooked to perfection and flavorful, and there always seems to be a specialty item. This time around, they had a chocolate chocolate chip cake available for Valentine's Day. It was EXTREMELY affordable, and honestly, they were undercharging for how delicious that cake was. I've never had such a most cake with such light, whipped frosting before. I wish I purchased more of them! While I didn't have them this time around, if you ever get the chance to visit, you have to try the funnel cake fries! They're topped with a generous amount of powdered sugar and make for a perfect post-meal treat. read more

Greeted upon walking and the staff when ordering is so friendly. We ordered an Italian beef with fries and a cheeseburger (not pictured) the food did not disappoint! Generous portions! The Italian beef is delicious and the fries are natural cut and soooo delicious, with a lil malt vinegar and ketchup too. The cheese burger was also good. Small clean restaurant in a strip mall right off the interstate. Lots of cute quirky signs. Only odd thing was the chairs are all up and it gives the feel they are closing. Now I know what my retirement business will be: open a real Chicago beef joint in Delavan and put Brodie's straight out of business. Stopped by to check them out today and got one of their beef sandwiches. Bread was good, but the beef, and I am not kidding or exaggerating, looked and tasted exactly like Arby's roast beef. What in the world is going on at Brodie's beef? For all of the Illinois license plates in the area, this place should not even exist. The sign on the wall said that they also serve Vienna beef hotdogs, so maybe their other offerings are better, but if you are up from Chicago and are looking for a beef that is even marginally, acceptable, do not stop at Brodie's. On the upside, The restaurant is conveniently located off of 43 and Route 50, and the inside is decorated nicely and feels like a pretty cool joint. Service was good, and there was plenty of Arby's roast beef on my sandwich ;-). read more

This was NOT a good experience $12 for 2 dogs ,fry drink- Never Again Dogs were small, and skin was very tough, I'm guessing under cooked . Fries were greasy and over salted, couldn't eat most, fountain drink I do not have any plans to return. Update: Business owner responded very quickly Hot dogs were dropped to cook when ordered by the blond haired lady. No way would they be ready in the 5 mins before being prepared. I know what kind of fries you serve, way too salty , maybe staff should clean the fry tray out a couple times a day. The pickle was bigger than the dog. I would have said something, but it was a to go order, and I was back on 43, in 3 mins after walking out the door! I usually go to a place in Elkhorn but sadly it is closing soon. So I tried Brodies. I was very disappointed. First it took a long time to get my food. The fries were burnt. I asked for a cup of juice for my beef. They gave me one of the tiny cups that they use for dipping sauce. The beef couldn't even fit in it to dunk it. The sandwich had half the meat the place in Elkhorn gives. I don't like giving bad reviews but I was very disappointed. read more

Very solid beef and sausage combo and the fries were very good as well. Unlike many combos I have had at other places, the sausage was very moist and had a lot of flavor. With so many Illinois license plates around here, it's no surprise I guess that there are several options in the Lake Geneva/Como/Delavan area for Chicago style dogs and beefs. Brodie's does a great job. Great dog, decorated correctly, and they kick it up a notch with what appear to be hand-cut shoestring fries. Nice! It was an inviting place and the owner even went as far to walk around to pick up trash and ask us how everything was, he even gave us a free jar of their Chicago style hot Giardiniera because we told him we came from Texas. I came here to try the beef. I gotta say it was like trying Chewy cold cut. The pictures on yelp look great but it's nothing what you get. It was one of the worst beef's I ever tasted. The meat was very light and looked like they just took it out of a bag of cold cuts. Fries were pretty good. I decided to try a milk shake and that was just your plain milk shake nothing special. Upon arrival we were greeted with the cutest smile and kindness. The food smelled delicious and I instantly knew what I was going to order. An Italian combo with hot peppers and cheese. My wife ordered the corn dog and fries with an order of the fried pickles. The pickles flavor was great, however the cut consistency was off the mark which caused the cook to be equally inconsistent. That would be the only complaint about the meal. My Italian combo was delicious and the fries are the nice I forgot to take a picture of my food because it had a date with my mouth. Tried this place out for the first time tonight. Didn't have high expectations but was pleasantly surprised when I walked in the door. Plenty of seating. Staff seemed attentive and polite. Ordered our food and waited and fair amount of time as there were others waiting. I ordered the cheddar and beef sandwich *with sweet peppers* ...boyfriend had a burger with the works. We shared some jalapeño poppers. We ate the poppers on the way home and they were very good. Crispy and fresh. Got home, less that 2 miles away, realized something was leaking from the bag. Open my sandwich (beef and cheddar) and it is literally sopping wet. Inedible. The bun was completely disintegrated. "Cheese sauce" was more like watered down velveeta or something. The "sweet peppers" were nothing but soggy green bell peppers. For the life of me cannot understand why anyone would make a sandwich like this. Is it so difficult to drain the meat off? Or maybe it's just the cheese sauce was *that* thin... either way completely grossed out. I really feel ripped off when people do things like this out of pure laziness. read more

Wow what a surprise. We were hungry and Panera wasn't taking online orders (and the last 2 lunches we got there were horrible) so we thought we'd give Brodie's a try. It was fast, hot and delicious. Presentation is pretty terrible with soggy bread and a sub sandwich that had to be eaten with a fork and knife ... husband said the meatballs were really tasty. Haven't been to this place in a few years. Came in last Tuesday had the Greek salad and I can honestly say that it was one of the best Greek salads I've ever had! Not sure if he makes the dressing homemade there or not however it was very good. The lettuce was very fresh and crisp and the salad had black olives on which I like and they were good. The cheese was fresh and very good also. I took it to go so presentation is hard to rate when they put it in a Styrofoam container and in a bag for you. Now we'll talk about my latest visit which was Friday afternoon. I had the two hotdog meal. Chicago dogs with what appears to be homemade shoestring french fries. French fries were awesome and flavorful! Not too greasy and they were very good! They don't salt them which is good if your on a low sodium diet. I salted mine to taste. The Chicago style dogs were spot on! I love peppers and pickles! Tomatoes were fresh and the hot dogs were very good and have that snap to them! Buns were fresh also! Are in at this visit so we'll talk about the in dining experience. Table was clean and restaurant itself appeared to be very clean and organized. The soft drink station was well-maintained and totally functional. Employees were professional and courteous and very knowledgeable about their menu. They also have Italian beef of which I've been told by a few people that it is the best they've ever had! I will try it out on my next visit! This sandwich shop is a version of Luke's in the Illinois area and their menu and pricing are identical expensive... but with one exception Brodie's Beef rips you off with their portions... I ordered a Gyro and a order of onion rings, for $14. The Gyro had 6 small shavings of meat on it, and the order of onion rings consisted of 4 onion rings. What a rip off. HS students that run the place are as Sloooow a molasses making your food as well. I also LOVE the answering machine that says if we don't answer we're busy, don't leave a message we won't listen to it or call back... but when you walk in there are four people talking while you heat the phone ringing in the background. This is another one of those random gems that you find when traveling. I was on a road trip to Dekalb, IL for a long weekend. I was starving for some food, and then, it happened. The express way sign struck me like a bird flying into a window, POW!!! "Brodies Italian Beef, exit 214 Delavan"....I was struck, and therefore I went forth. Did I use yelp to see what people said about this place? Of course I did! I was seeing the comparison from Portillo's on everyone's review, and much more they really enjoyed Brodies Italian Beef than the big famous Portillos. (No diss to them, I still eat there) However, I walk in with my wife and kids, we order and sit down. I notice, the manager walking around and talking to his employees, and noticed an accent that is way too familiar with me. I yelled out...Aye yo' you're from South Side Chicago? He replied proudly "YES I AM" Right then and there, I knew the food was gonna be good, because of that pride he carries with him, it definitely translates into the food. After a quick convo with the owner/manager/cook, we come to find out, we're from the same neighborhood and lived blocks from each other. Small world I tell ya!! I had the Italian Beef with Hot Peppers and it was dipped! Let me tell you, that beef with tender and had so much flavor, not greasy and the hot gardinera peppers complimented the sandwich perfectly. Turano bread was the bun of choice and an excellent one at that! This beef was waaay better than Portillos HANDS DOWN! Prices were good, Fries were crunchy and hand cut fresh! This is a great little spot in Delavan, and I will drive an hour from Milwaukee to get this food, because it is so worth it. Thinly sliced, lean, seasoned appropriately and just enough "juice" to make it easy to eat in the car without a mess. It's my first time here and after reading the reviews and checking it out I have to agree that this is a decent place to lunch! They serve a nice Italian beef and my husband liked his a lot but he mentioned that the peppers were more spicy than he is used to. I tried the burger with Merkdt cheese and everything on it and it was really decent! The don't skimp on the extras and the grilled onions were perfectly done. I really like that they have fresh cut thin fries that were piping hot. The kids enjoyed their hot dog meals and their basket (combo with fries and drinks) are very reasonably priced!
