THANK YOU to the staff and Loopy himself for the BEST weekend of our summer so far! My boyfriend and I went tubing with two other couples and it was the best tubing trip we've ever been on. ALL of their employees are incredible, and gave amazing customer service! About a half hour into our trip we realized that one of our tubes had a small leak in it. We called Loopy's and within minutes they brought us a brand new one and we were on our way again. Also, we felt like royalty being shuttled around by Loopy and his crew to and from our campground... talk about accommodations! :) After our return to Loopy's after the river ride, we hung out and played some bags and had a couple cocktails. Bottom line... wonderful weekend! We have concluded that we will be back next year and cannot wait to go back! PS. Their beef sticks are BOMB!!! read more

Looking for a place to accommodate our group of 45 hockey players and parents at an out-state tourney and decided to give this a try. The owner, Loopy, seemed very on top of things and arranged a time for our group that would not diminish service to his already reserved parties. We arrived and walked out the back door of the bar, into a weird tented tunnel and through a revolving door right into... SUMMER. Warm, sandy, bright - what more could you ask for? We had several reserved tables in a large area next to the giant tiki hut bar. Waitresses were efficient and knew how to handle a large group (smartly arranging tabs by jersey number). The food was as expected... pretty standard bar fare. Tots were crisp and tasty but waffle fries could have used a bit of seasoning. Pizza looked good but I didn't get to taste it. Our BBLT's had nice crispy bacon, but was otherwise uninspired. But at this price point and providing the relaxing feeling of being in the tropics during the middle of a Minnesota winter, there were no complaints from me! Kids had a blast just running around barefoot in the sand and trying to play volleyball. There are nets separating each court and all around the sandy area, so balls do not end up in your dinner. Wear shorts and a tee if you are playing - it is warm. Really a cool set-up! The giant adirondack chair was great for pictures. Loopy checked in a few times to make sure everything was going okay. Everyone had a great time - we'll be back next time we find ourselves in Chip! read more

Stopped on our way from Minneapolis to Wausau - well worth getting off the main road for! Excellent fish fry and the menu was extensive enough with sandwiches, burgers and pizza to please everyone. Hubby is from Wisconsin and loves his fish fries and he even gave this one two thumbs up! Nice clean restaurant and waitress was friendly and quick with drink refills. read more

Loopy's gets a thumbs up from me, if you ever in their neck of the woods pop on in to enjoy their fare. Plenty of cold beer on offer with all the Leinies offerings available as the local beer. The food was good, I enjoyed a pulled pork sandwich and partner had the fish tacos and they were both great. They have a large outside area with 3 volleyball courts and you can river raft or go tubing down the river, transport provided. All in all a great place to visit! read more

Looks like it would be a fun place at night time. Big volleyball courts and great view of the river as well. You can eat inside or outside. Great place! Went tubing and had no problem getting rentals to them be shuttles to our starting point! Floated for approximately 2.5 hours and ended back at Loopy's. We then finished the evening with dinner and drinks! Great food and great customer service! read more

We had our daughters wedding there August 4th. It was great except for the little bit of rain. Loopy was so helpful along the way. He was running around making sure everything was the way we wanted it. The food was good and the venue was great. They were married right next to the water. There was wait staff there all night asking all the guests if they needed anything. All of them were great and they were happy to change things when I requested. Great place. Stopped here as we wanted to enjoy the view of the river and take a break between Wausau and the MSP airport. Place is probably hopping on weekends, back patio is huge with plenty of seating, great sand volleyball courts, and a nice view of river. They offer tubing and other gloat options and a shuttle. On to the food - we shared some deep fried cheese curds, done better than most without too much greasy breading. Italian sub was tasty too, as well as the waffle fries. Cold beers and healthy mixed drinks- the raspberry blueberry mojito was great. Fun place, would stop again. read more

If you are looking for truly mediocre food and consistently indifferent service, this would be your go-to place. The clam-less, fish-less, insipid Friday chowder was the last straw... We have tried Loopy's four times, and will likely not return. However, if all you care about is a beautiful riverfront setting and a decent selection of local beer (Leine's), you might not mind marginal food and service. You make the call. read more

Great example of a country road-house style bar. Lots of stuff to do, great food, and cheap drinks. Highly recommended way to spend a summer afternoon. Rent a tube/canoe/or kayak, have them drive you up river, and spend a couple of hours paddling downstream. When you get out on their dock, head inside and enjoy pizza and cold beer. Lots of other great stuff on the menu too. Cheese curds are excellent. Tiki style bar outside. Northwoods/log cabin theme inside, usual bar stuff like pool and darts. Crowd is definitely country. No hipsters or frat/sorority kids here. They've got a really cool inflatable heated volleyball dome that they put up in the winter, so you can play year-round. read more

Would like to start off by saying that Loopy is a great person and has little to do with this review itself. A couple friends and I went tubing down the river and parked in the loopys parking lot. Mind you, there were no signs posted saying we can't park there. Considering that Loopy's generously advertises tubing with them, we assumed that parking was associated. We had two cars, one that we left there and one that we brought to the start. We looked around for someone to ask about instructions but saw nobody so we headed on our way. After at least 2.5 hours of tubing, we arrived back at the restaurant. A security man came walking over to us as we reached our car and informed us that he actually watched us park and leave our car there hours before. He then decided to let us know that parking was only for "customers" and that he could've had my car towed. Rather then letting us know when he watched us park and leave in a separate car, he decided to wait hours and then approach us and threaten towing our car while in bikinis in the parking lot. Overall ruined our experience and made us all very uncomfortable. Highly suggest the employees say something when they notice the issue or post a notice sign rather then threatening local tubers. read more

Was in Chippewa Falls visiting family, and Loopy's had a really awesome atmosphere. Food, beer, and service were all on point. The beach volleyball and river was a pretty cool bonus. This place will definitely be part of the restaurant rotation next time we are in WI! read more

Won a shandymonium trip to wisconsin and we chose to have a day at loopys activity. When we got there we had a choice to either kayak, canoe, or tube down the river to get to loopys. My boyfriend and I tubed with a group of people. It was so relaxing and fun. We got to know the people as we drifted towards loopys while drinking some leinies from a floating cooler, listening to some tunes on a floating speaker as well. Took us about three hours to finally get to loopys, and had a nice tan going on. We went up the stairs and saw a bar outside with beach volley ball and games of corn hole/bags. And then there was a bar inside as well. They also serve great food. I had an amazing time and I will never forget the day I had at loopys!!! read more

After 1 bad visit here, I was willing to give them another shot. It wasn't worth my time. On the first visit, service was fine but the food was AWFUL. Do not order a pizza, it is about as generic as they come. The appetizers are pretty evidently pulled out of a microwave. On my second visit, the service was awful. We were one of two tables in a tent outside, and it took about 5 minutes for a server to stop by (and she brought 4 menus for 7 people). Our drink order took about 15 minutes, and the waitress completely missed an order from a person at our table (they didn't leave or anything). The food was similar to the first visit - I ordered a burger with fries which were literally cold and soggy, and the cheese was clearly microwaved onto the burger (seems to be a theme here). Its cool that this place has volleyball and outdoor activities, but that's about all I would recommend here. I travel to G*d's country once a year for work and Loopy's seems to be a stop on more than one occasion. The burgers are very good and you are in Linenkugel country too. I have never seen it on a weekend but just imagine it is a fun place to be with all the outside recreation and fire pits. Go ahead and stop in you will not be disappointed! read more

Excellent selection of locally brewed leinenkugels beer! The cheese curds were average and the ranch dressing was not very good. I'm guessing it was store bought Kraft. The salmon bites were good but the dill sauce served with them had a layer of water floating on top of it. The tater tots were good but I don't think the ketchup is Heinz. We brought our own kayaks and had James shuttle us upriver and we kayaked back to loopys. Because our trip was under an hour, he took us again for free! He was nice and funny, definitely good at his job! It was a bit chaotic to figure out how to pay for the shuttle, especially since there was only 1 bartender, but we figured it out. After our 2nd trip downriver, we ate lunch outside on the deck that faces the Chippewa River, the food was typical bar food, but good. Our waitress did a good job with everyone coming in to pay for shuttles and tube rides, and she still had to get everyone their drinks and food. She was busy but stayed friendly and worked quickly. read more

For the pricing on the menu, you would expect it to be better. There were flies all over the restaurant and they kept landing on our pizza we ordered. We ordered deviled eggs which were advertised as made fresh but the whites were hard and rubbery (we sent them back). The side salad was wilted and came with huge onions on it and that was about it and the salmon was dry and tasted like it was a little old - I didn't even eat much of it. My husband ordered the pizza which tasted good but for the price, we could have just ordered pizza. read more

Stopped by for lunch while vacationing with family in the area. I ordered a turkey bacon melt sandwich and tater tots and both were lukewarm at best. Other family members also felt that the temperature of their food was too cold. Service was slow-it took 25-30 minutes to get our food, and while it was busy, it was not that busy. This might be a good bar and buffet, but I was not impressed with what we had on the menu. I would not go here again. read more
