Very cool old building and nice patio. Beer is good, food is alright. The menu's fried pierogies ended up being baked and tasted like Mrs. T's - very disappointing as an appetizer. Accidentally tipped waaaay too much because the default for tip is set at something like 30%. Not saying it was bad service, but it's not table service and our experience definitely didn't warrant anything over a standard 20%. I probably won't go back. read more

Been wanting to try this place. Finally got a chance to get in there. The place is very cool looking. It's alittle smaller inside than we imagined. You're literally right there in the brewery. The tables downstairs in front of the bar were really close together so we moved up to the small upstairs area. It's actually right outside the kitchen. It was nice up there. It's basically a loft area overlooking the main part of the bar. Felt really bad for the two really young guys working the kitchen all by themselves. They were super slammed. They did the best they could but the food took a really long time. We got there Buffalo chicken loaded fries. Wow were they good. They were out of pulled pork so that was kind of disappointing but I guess we will have to go another time. We got this smoked brisket bacon dip. It was delicious. Wish it was a larger portion. My friend got a salad with chicken on it but was rather large. My pizza was alittle over cooked. Close to burnt. It was good there but left overs had a burnt flavor for sure. My husband got the fish and liked it. It has a nice breading and flavor. They had live music that was good. Not super loud. I think we'll give it another try. read more

We ordered the hot honey pepperoni pizza and we each had one piece and the rest went in the trash. Absolute waste, worst pizza we have ever eaten. Also ordered the pulled pork tots, they were okay. Arguably the best pizza in Canal Winchester - love that they're accommodating if you want to build your own! The live music is always great and this is the perfect season to sit out by the fire. The service at Loose Rail has never been better and this is becoming one of our favorite local spots to bring guests. Thursday night food consisted pizza and fried cheese curds. Lois's rail has really good pizzas and don't hold back on the toppings. Fast service and both items arrived fresh and hot. Not a huge selection on beer but something for everyone's tastes. Wine and cocktails too. The only negative is the door. It doesn't close on its own. You would be surprised by how many people are oblivious to the cold blast of air after they enter and never shut the door. Tip sit far away from the door. read more

We drove down from Dublin to check it out & won't bother going back. Definitely a cool bldg & their beer is OK. We ordered the wings and the big pretzel, but didn't stick around to eat dinner. The food seems to be good for a pub-like place. They don't have table service, which would've been nice to know in advance, but there were 4 or 5 "bartenders" who were mostly chatting it up w/ each other or w/ regulars, or bussing tables. They add a 3% charge to credit card orders (as of recently), & we understand, but it's another thing that would have been nice to know in advance. And apparently the state's tax holiday didn't apply to their food (on Aug 2nd, 2025). They have a KENO machine, but they don't pay out winning tickets (What???); we were told to go down the street to Shade on the Canal for the big $1 payout (again, what???). read more

ABSOLUTELY love this place. If you are a big brewery person this is an excellent stop. We took bikes here and had a great afternoon enjoying all the beers and the weather. We were there pretty early in the afternoon on a week day, so got to chat with the bartender, she was awesome. Highly recommend coming in for a stop. Nice beer selection. 4 of us ordered the beer cheese roast beef sandwich. The beer cheese was a dab in the middle of the sandwich. The roast beef was very dry. The bacon bits must have gone back to the farm because they weren't evident on the sandwich. The brioche bun was not very good. The French fries were pretty good. Very pleasantly surprised by this small taproom in downtown Canal Winchester. Cozy interior with ample seating, nice outdoor patio with firepit(s), solid selection of delicious craft beers at a reasonable price, and friendly staff. My visit was mid-afternoon on a Sunday, so there weren't any food trucks around but it looks like they have food trucks around to serve food during dining hours. The taproom itself does not appear to serve their own food. The only knock I have against this place so far is that it doesn't have its own parking lot, and their website has zero information about where you're supposed to park. I found a spot on the street out front, but I would've been confused otherwise. I heard from a friend who lives nearby that there's a city parking lot nearby that you could use? read more

Loose Rail is another good central Ohio brewery. It's in Canal Winchester, where it has quite a competitor. The main location of BrewDog is only about a mile away, but I like this more. It's more cozy. This feels more like an actual pub. I had the Full Steam. It's about $6 for a pint. This is one of the lighter selections. It's made with orange bitters. This isn't like many fruit flavor beers since it's not excessively sweet. It's not one of the hoppier beers. This one is pretty smooth. As for food, they don't seem to make any. There's often a food truck. It gets less of a crowd than BrewDog. Since it's much smaller it still can feel crowded. There's no parking lot right there but there's one a few blocks east. read more

I stopped in as part of the Route 33 Brew Trail. This place has character and a cozy vibe to it. I arrived a little after they opened with just a couple of other visitors there so it was a nice and relaxing atmosphere to have a drink in. Bartender Kristen was personable and attentive. I tried Dead Man Throttle $1.62 and was not a fan, but Searchlight $1.39 was very good! This sweet peach shandy is perfect on a warm summer day. The guy next to me at the bar got two flights full of IPAs so they must be good here. No kitchen, but they do have wifi and food trucks. read more

Have visited loose rail numerous times and really enjoy coming in on Tuesday for Bingo night. The seating is very limited, definitely in the winter when it is too cold to be on the patio. I ordered the Italian sub with fries. The sub was good but I wasn't a huge fan of the sub bun. The fries were crispy and delicious. FIRST and LAST time coming. We ordered food/drinks and had to wait over an hour before they brought out our drinks. The woman taking our order asked where we will be to give us our order, we told the bartender that we will be outside on the patio waiting. I went back inside after 25 or so minutes to see what was going on/grab a water when Chelsea walked up with three drinks trying to hand them off to me. I tried to explain that we ordered every single flavor of the flight and that we were sat outside so we didn't understand why she was trying to give those drinks to everyone around/INSIDE the bar in the first place when we specifically said the group will be OUTSIDE. However, before I could explain she interjected by rolling her eyes at me and said "well it's not my job to know what you ordered!" and stormed away. I proceeded to get in line and wait for a refund because I didn't feel comfortable spending $120 for such poor customer service. It was about a 15 minute wait to get to the front of the line for a refund and there was still another customer in front of me when she proceeded to look at me and yell past the person in front of me asking for my last name. (maybe service that customer first?) I didn't respond because it was very rude and I didn't want to be serviced by someone like that; so I was waiting for assistance for someone that would actually like to help their customers. After I told her I didn't want her help because I didn't appreciate her attitude towards me, she proceeded to accuse me of having a nasty attitude? (although she never let me speak/explain the situation?). One of the managers, I think his name was Nathan, noticed how she was speaking and told me to come to the side and not to talk to her and that he will take care of it/have a talk with her. He apologized for the way she spoke to me (in front of a huge crowd of people!) and explained that she was probably just stressed because they were understaffed (still no excuse to yell at a customer). He told her that the drinks will need to be dumped and she stormed off and slammed the kitchen door shut!!! From my understanding, she is also one of the owners/managers. Yikes! Thank you Nathan for demonstrating what GOOD customer service is. Don't come here if you want poor service/a long wait time. read more

We've been to Loose Rail a few times now, and it is a great spot! I go 4 stars because it is a little out of the way for me and I am not a huge fan of their variety of beers. They seem to do a lot of Goses and Reds, not my style. BUT, the IPAs they do have are good! So to be clear, they make good stuff, just not the styles I prefer. The building itself is awesome, nestled right into downtown Canal. Prime location and a really cool building. A ton of character, very authentic. Our bartender was so sweet even though she was clearly having a rough day (beer taps bursting open // kegs running out). Great service. Unisex bathrooms. First time and LAST time customer. Walked in found a table. My sister and I like trying new restaurants brewing companies, we're foodies through and through. Well, not one person approached our table, no drink order, nothing... We finally realized, after asking a customer, how do you order in here, the customer came over and explained the process. So, I pulled up the menu, they were out of stock on almost everything on the menu. I genuinely am a go with the flo, happy go lucky, but that was ridiculous.
