Very disappointing experience. The quality of the hair color service was terrible, and the overall customer service afterward was poor. The salon was contacted multiple times, but the owner did not provide a resolution. Instead of taking responsibility and making the situation right, the owner never followed up, and the matter was left unresolved. Based on the poor technical result, lack of customer care, and lack of follow-through from ownership, I would not recommend this salon. There are several other trusted salons in the area that can likely provide a much better experience than Lordis Loft, and I would strongly encourage clients to do their research before entrusting this salon with any technical color work. read more

I booked an appointment at this salon for a special occasion, and it was an incredibly disappointing and stressful experience. I scheduled an updo from 11:00-12:00 and mineral makeup from 12:00-12:30, planning to be in my dress by 1:30 for a formal event. I explained clearly what I wanted for the updo, but the stylist admitted she didn't know how to do it and began watching YouTube tutorials to figure it out. After several failed attempts, I ended up with a loose, braided style that I could already feel falling apart. It was now after 12:30, and I hadn't even started my makeup. Even though I had booked my makeup with the owner, she began working on someone else's hair and passed me off to someone clearly inexperienced. All I got was a quick base of foundation before I had to leave at 1:15--with no finished hairstyle and no completed makeup. I paid for services I didn't receive, and all the owner offered was 50% off. I had to rush to throw on my dress and completely redo my hair and makeup myself in 15 minutes just to look halfway presentable. Absolutely unacceptable. Great spot in a great location downtown. I took the family to Charleston for a spring break road trip in 'spa mode' and I always look to Aveda salons being a Minnesota guy from way back. We all have long hair now so it's fun to go to a salon together. I was able to get us in two at a time. The staff are super friendly and professional, and my stylist Alexis even let me know when a service would cost extra so I could decide. Emily was also great. My experience at this salon was extremely disappointing. For my first appointment, the owner arrived 40 minutes late without any communication, explanation or Apologies. My second appointment was never confirmed, leaving me to arrive and find no one available. Hoping for a better experience, I gave them another chance with a third appointment, but this time I (along with other customers) were left waiting outside on the street for 30 minutes with no one to open the door. Furthermore, the OWNER (Linzie Davis) who was confirmed as my stylist, NEVER SHOWED UP!! Keep in mind.. I came in earlier that week to confirm the appointment with her to her face! Well my review has been hidden for some reason, but to answer the response of "why didn't you contact us to get it rectified, I stated in the review that I did contact for a refund on the $200+ bill, and managed to get a $50 refund after the unbelievably rude and childish manager acted like I was trying to go in with a ski mask and rob the place. He even had the audacity to suggest I come again to get it fixed, at full price lol. Y'all are really lucky that Yelp is for whatever reason hiding the sincere poor reviews of your shop. The amount of people who are complaining about wanting blonde hair but it turning orange and then getting some absolutely terrible excuse from the worker should probably be some sort of hint that maybe it isnt everyone else who wrong, and that you may have a little bit of a disconnect between your level of skill and the price for your service. I will preface this by saying, I don't get my makeup done by others often. However, I've had it done in the past (wedding, trial run throughs, friends weddings) and there is a level of professionalism and sanitation that takes place, that was not evident in the least at this salon. I had my baby shower and my sister thought it would be a nice treat to not stress before hand getting ready and get pampered and have my hair and make up done. The stylist who did my hair was wonderful, super chill, and did a great job. My makeup however was awful. Not only did she not know how to correctly apply makeup, or match makeup, she spent the majority of the time insulting me by talking about my aging skin and then talking to me like a two year old while giving me a tutorial on how to apply make up. Which she failed miserably at. She spent an entire 15 minutes priming my face...then used 5 different shades of foundation to mix together to apply- told me the look I wanted to achieve wouldn't work because I'm aging..what in the world??? I literally just had this done for my wedding and looked lovely and yet this woman's incompetence for her profession was not accounted for but instead chose to insult me. She used the same one brush for every color on my eye she applied, trying to highlight under my eyebrow but bc she used it to apply brown eyeshadow instead created a brown streak under my brow..when I commented on it she told me twice I was wrong and I said , I can clearly see it's brown- so she then applied rubbing alcohol to my face to remove it and said " nice catch". WTH? It's when she pulled out a hot pink blush after I repeatedly told her that would not look good on me- I like natural tones please don't and then told me I'm too old for shimmer- but then applied the hot pink- the Rose color from my own palette and then SHIMMER from my lips up to my cheek bone that I completely lost all confidence in her ability to do her job well. My baby shower started in 20 minutes and I had been there for 40 minutes having the worst time of my life until I just said I would do it myself and started over. Needless to say, my sister had a very similar experience, and we ended up paying for a service that we didn't receive due to booking with a professional salon that doesn't employ professional/knowledgeable people. I feel terrible my sister wasted her money on this- it wasn't relaxing or helpful on the day of AND- whatever she rubbed on my face for 15 minutes and the unclean/unsanitary brushes she used had my face in a complete full blown rash about an hour after and it hasn't gone away. Merely gotten worse in the last 48 hours. Whatever you do, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON SERVICES HERE...the two women who did our make up were unqualified for their jobs and took zero accountability for their inability to perform a given task and made no attempt to resolve the situation in a customer service manner. My "artist" quite literally had me on the edge of the seat, not letting me out of my chair while I explained I was done with this session and would do it myself and got confrontational and I was about ready to throw hands. Save your money, save your time, save the stress and just pass on this place completely. read more

I booked a consultation for a perm at 4 pm, which is what it said in my confirmation email, but on my online account, it said 10 am. When I called the salon to ask, I decided that I'd rather go elsewhere to do my hair, because the person answering the phone, Michelle, basically talked to me like I was an idiot. Kind of tired of people in the service business who are not truly service-minded. I find it interesting when reading the reviews on here that several people have commented on the same thing, yet nothing seems to have been done since this was my experience as well. If it were my business, I would address it - at least if several people seem to have had the same experience (they can't all be picky, hard to please customers), but it seems like every response from the owner is defensive. I was in desperate need of a dye job on my hair after I was given terrible highlights at a different location. I made an appointment for the same day and was looking forward to fixing my hair. I had Tara, who was very nice and seemed to know exactly what I wanted. I was told I would need corrective color to fix the previous work I had done. Tara ended up just dying over my previous color and not lifting any old color off or doing anything "corrective". In short, you can still see the orange highlights through my new hair color. Tara also ruined my favorite shirt by somehow getting dye down my back. After paying extra for a corrective hair color, I am still not completely pleased with my color and am upset that my shirt has hair dye all over it. I had the worst experience here that I have ever had at a salon before... KEEP IN MIND THIS WAS 2 YEARS AGO. Sarah did my hair at Lordis. I'm sure when they see this review again they will reply with the same snarky reply they did before... however... I was dirty blonde/brown and I asked to go an Anna Nicole Smith color... I was there from 3pm-12am. I also let my color grow out dark blonde after my horrible bleaching experience here, and when I went back to my old salon, (Largo) I asked them to do the same bright blonde, it took her 4 hours and was around $250 I believe. Lordis tried to charge me over $800 for doing overall blonde. I do understand that the price rises according to the hours you sit in the chair... but to me this felt like a way to get more money... there is no excuse for it taking that many hours and looking that yellow/streaky/awful and crunchy soon as I left. when I went back to my old salon they said they actually felt bad for me. I also had another lady message me a couple of months ago saying she wish she would've read my review before she went there because she had the EXACT same experience.. I will be keeping her name anonymous. I think that this salon would thrive without Sarah and Michele. every other employee here has amazing reviews! read more

Whoever did my booking was beyond exceptional but as far as actual service on the day of - that's where it falls apart. I booked a massage and day of the therapist had called out sick. They were prompt about contacting me and offered me a facial at a discounted rate. All good. However, I get spa treatments monthly at different places all over the globe and one thing is consistent... there is always an intake and consent. This time - no. I'm not even sure the girl (very nice personality) was licensed to do a facial. After getting me on the table and starting to put product on - no question about allergies, skin type or otherwise - I had to tell her I have lash extensions and had just got my brows henna. To PLEASE avoid them. She proceeded to rub about 15 products sequentially on my face. Never once explaining what she was doing. No fancy process. No steam. No extraction. No eye patch. Literally rubbing a series of products on and wiping off with a towel. Including my brows over and over. The license in the therapy room did not appear to belong to her. Rubbed oils in my hair without asking. Mirror was too high on the wall too see once done but when I got back to my hotel I still had leftover product around my nose and IN MY BROWS which basically ruined my service I had just had done. So - book w caution. Definitely not worth the price even discounted. It was reminiscent of the "mini facial" we did in massage school that was the only legal by the state way we could do them. Again. Whoever did the booking was over accommodating and the therapist probably was asked to fill in but that should have been made clear. ***** update to this ***** customer service is exceptional and they truly value their clients and experience .... Practically immediate call and message to accommodate experience ***** this was originally a 3 star experience that ended with a 5. This is how you run a business so kudos to them. read more

Denise is a lovely and talented stylist and I enjoyed both services and time with her. Unfortunately, I had difficulty booking my online appt. the second time, so scheduled with a gentlemen by telephone who failed to mention a nearly 50% increase in pricing. Upon calling, I was told that he was under no obligation to share this information as it was on their website. He cited inflation and the cost of a banana which I found dismissive and condescending. Not even gas has increased by this percentage, my haircut was $88. I referred three members of my family after my January appointment. Michele and Denise are the BEST! I was able to book a last minute appointment where Michele was incredibly helpful with squeezing me in, and Denise stayed late to do a full wash, cut, and style of my hair. Easily the best haircut I've ever received. Not only was the staff so pleasant, and honestly fun to talk to, Denise was extremely thorough with my hair, and made sure she knew exactly what I wanted. I booked a haircut which was fine and I really enjoyed it. When I finished I also booked an appointment to get my roots touched up. Unfortunately on that day I felt sick and they were nice enough to reschedule it. Today I tested positive for Covid and called to cancel that appointment but the person told me that I couldn't cancel the appointment since I had originally rescheduled it with less than 48h notice - I should have just said that I come in with Covid but of course I didn't. The gentleman now has rescheduled it again and if I miss that one he told me that I would be charged 450 dollars. I have never been treated so rudely - it is no one's fault that I have Covid! I will hopefully be able to do the appointment next week but I would definitely never book another appointment based on how I got treated. I do understand that they have a 48h cancellation policy and I was never trying to cheat myself out of that. If I had more time I would have rescheduled it for in 2 weeks to make sure I am healthy but I am only here visiting so can't do that. And if they have to charge me I think to charge that amount is ridiculous. I have never spent that much money on a root touch up. So make sure if you book that you are prepared to pay at all costs no matter the circumstances. read more
