We rolled in at 1pm on a Saturday without a reservation, but the hostess was accommodating and ushered us to the back patio. We sat in the back on the bench seating under the open air, which had its charms but also felt a bit cramped. This was the perfect to set the mood of the holiday seasons. The backyard is heated and it is the perfect place for groups, place to start off the night or just enjoying Lower East Side. I have seen this places being decorated for fall and Halloween so I am glad I finally got to try it. I had the Rudolph ornament ($22) and my partner had their Cider Espresso Martini ($22), they have many variations of the Espresso Martini. I stopped by Loreley German Beer Garden to check out their Espresso Martini Festival and had such a great time! I've been here about 3-4 different times. This time, I tried a few different martinis: the red velvet (my favorite by far), the Oreo, hazelnut with a Ferrero Rocher on top, and the s'mores espresso martini. They were all delicious, but the red velvet really stole the show, and the Oreo one was a lot of fun with the bits of Oreo mixed in. While enjoying the drinks, I snacked on the pork schnitzel and sausage platter, which definitely kept me full. The wings here are spectacular, and I don't say that much! When we were finally seated, the table didn't even have enough chairs, and when we pointed it out, the staff seemed annoyed and squeezed one person into a corner with no legroom. The service was poor overall--they never checked in to see if we needed another drink or anything else. I ordered rum and was served whiskey, and my medium steak came out well done with no pink at all. The bathrooms were disgusting: no toilet paper, no paper towels, trash on the floor, and the entire place felt extremely cramped. The ambiance was decent, but that's the only positive. I hear they decorate for all the seasons, but I came right after Christmas and it was so festive with all the decor. There's a number of Christmas bars in town, but this one seems the most chill as it's a beer garden. Maybe if you came before Christmas, it's a lot busier, but coming here between Christmas and NYE wasn't busy at all while also getting the festive decor. We came in on an early October afternoon to get an Oktoberfest celebration in, getting a table in the garden area out back. Service was prompt, friendly, and helpful with questions. It being Oktoberfest, we leaned into the theme: she got a half litre of Schneider Weisse (a dark wheat beer) and a veggie burger. I did an order of weisswurst and, being in the Oktoberfest spirit, a litre boot of Weihenstephan Festbier, while we split an order of pretzels. The Weihenstephan was solid: the kind of beer you could find yourself nursing through a festival tent. The last weisswurst I'd had was in a terminal at the old Tegel airport in Berlin; these pork + veal sausages had a bright hit of lemon and were nearly as good. Heard Loreley Beer Garden had the best burger in the Lower East Side, so I had to try it for myself... Conveniently located across the street from my hotel, I was looking for something quick before heading to the airport. Plenty of seating available inside and outside on a Friday night. Schnitzel Tender Review: dry and rubbery... Fries were the star of the show. I could eat those fries all day, everyday. Would I come here again? Yes. Please, spend your hard earned money elsewhere and don't believe the hype on social media. We had a reservation at 5. We were told only outside seating was available but if we waited 5 min, we would be seated indoors. That never happened after waiting far longer than 5 minutes and having to go back to speak with the hostess. The restaurant is painfully small and the beer garden is the size of a backyard patio. If you're going for the Christmas decorations and overhyped $25 holiday drinks, just skip it. The decorations are nothing more than you see in any other city restaurant and the drinks are small and overpriced. When you're seated outside, you're sitting at a picnic table possibly with another party with an acrylic divider jammed in the top of the table. This does nothing more than make things really awkward. We ordered pretzels (they looked & tasted exactly like the ones from your grocer's freezer), schnitzel, bratwurst and chicken schnitzel.
