Fantastic! We tested out Lorena today in midtown. This place is incredible. A southern Fusion restaurant where southern comfort food meets contemporary cuisine. We ordered the oyster po-boy, chicken and dumplings, and unicorn grits with gulf shrimp. Wow! Everyone agreed that the food quality was top notch. My oyster po-boy was scrumptious. The unicorn grits with gulf shrimp was given two thumbs up. The chicken and dumplings chock-full of chicken and super tasty. We are already making plans for another visit. read more

Absolutely wonderful addition to the OKC food scene! They have made the space so beautiful and the service we received was absolutely impeccable. We enjoyed the pimento cheese with firecrackers! We tasted nostalgia prepared in a new way. We loved their style of classic comfort food. Service is always good but maybe I picked the wrong entrees today, I was not wowed by the food. I was not able to taste the pickled okra in the fritters. Like the server said, it's like hush puppies. The collard greens were a tad on the salty side. The fried bologna was good tho. And so was the short rib. The first visit experience was better. I may just have to stick to catfish the next time I return but I like to try different food. read more

I'm so happy this place opened and that we have another high end Deep South cuisine location in OKC! Excellent old fashioned, loved the duck breast, fried green tomatoes, and I typically don't get dessert but portion sizes for entrees are perfect so I had room and enjoyed the peach hand pies. My only complaint is that service timing for the cocktails and entrees was pretty slow but still getting their groove. Rooting for this place! read more

So I really wanted to like this restaurant. It came highly recommended and we were excited for our dinner. It's beautiful and the seating with wonderful. We heard all about the story of the owners grandmother and her love of cooking. Appetizers were incredible. We had fried green tomatoes, biscuits and the pimento ball. Delicious. But then it went south. After 45 minutes our food arrived and 2 of the 4 dishes were cold. Ice cold. One was duck which really can't be eaten cold. The fried chicken was warm and good. The last dinner of a salad never showed. While they were apologetic you can't run a restaurant like that. It doesn't work. We paid good money for food that wasn't really edible. Again, I really wanted to like place but unfortunately we probably won't be back. read more

Three of us were at Lorena's last night. We were greeted by Lori the owner. She gave us a brief description of her concept for the restaurant. The food was delicious. They had a speciality 6 mini biscuits appetizer and we had the most delicious fried green tomatoes. We had bowls of chicken and dumplings and claim chowder. Both were exceptionally delicious. Casey our waitress was so sweet and patient. She was well knowledgeable about all menu items. Lauren the owner came out and chatted it up with us giving the back story you're telling us about how the chicken and dumplings is her grandmother's recipe. The description says they modernize Southern Comfort Food. There was dumpling soup and fried chicken, but the menu is dominated by seafood. We each had a different main entree. They were all spectacular. The price was reasonable and the deserts were beyond perfection. Classic Southern cooking with a twist and a bit of flare. Several family members celebrated a birthday here for lunch--a first visit for all of us. We had the warmest welcome I've ever had a restaurant. Our server Brandon was on top of his game and gave us excellent service as well as being friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent! We all kept raving as we tried a bunch of shared small plates, a few entrees, and desserts. Everything we had was delicious. Deserving of special mention: the fried green tomatoes, the clam chowder, the chicken and dumplings, the catfish, the peach hand pie, and the angel food cake (with amazing toppings). We had an amazing dinner here. Our server was great and this place actually has comfortable seating which feels very rare nowadays for a moderately priced restaurant. We spent over 2 hours here enjoying appetizers, delicious clam chowder, and great catfish and quail. I can't recommend the stuffed quail enough and this was my first time ever even trying quail. The cornbread waffle that comes with it is incredible, this dish is a great play on the classic chicken and waffles but with some amazing twists. I'm still dreaming about the miso butter. I've eaten twice at Lorena! ... loved it both times. For lunch I had the Blackened Shrimp Po Boy and for dinner I had the Pan Seared Arctic Char. I thought both were excellent! I was told the wonderful Po Boy bun came from Louisiana. The atmosphere is elegant and modern -- loved the gold flatware against charcoal linen napkins! The servers -- especially Charles -- were excellent. My only suggestion to make the dining experience even greater would be to add cornbread or yeast rolls as a dinner menu option! read more

Well today will be our forth day in a row that we have had the pleasure of dining at Lorena....why??? a warning their fried green tomatoes are addictive!! Other fabulous items are the black pepper clam chowder and chicken and dumplings which are the best EVER!! The BLT is humungous and the catfish's crust is "to die for"!! You will be welcomed with open arms by owner Lori Burson (she sounds familiar?) She also owns Stellas next door which yesterday celebrate 15 years in business. Lori's vivacious personality has "rubbed off" on her marvelous staff! Their service is just as good as the meals they serve. Do your family and friends a favor and take them to Lorena.
