I really enjoyed the crab beignets! I think they have a great flavor! Staff was super nice. Restaurant was very quiet. All the beignets we ordered though were cold despite us waiting quite a while for each one to come out. And they're pretty small so you'll have to get a few. We got maybe 3 or 4 diff beignets and it was about $40
I wish I was back in NOLA just to eat those praline filled beignets. My god. Best beignets ever. We got the OG Beignets and the Praline filled Beignets. Both amazing and not overly sweet and not buried in powdered sugar either. I highly recommend their Praline filled beignets. We arrived about 15-20 minutes after it opened, and there was already a line to the door. It took about 15-20 minutes to order, but only about 5 minutes to get our beignets. Again, everyone is so friendly. Plenty of indoor seating. I wish I could go back as these were the best beignets I have ever had in my life.
The line is regularly out the door which speaks to the deliciousness of everything. Pack your patience and come on in. I tried a mini sweet potato pie and a praline. The pie tastes just like Thanksgiving. We made a bulk order of 6 (I think) pralines so they came in the prepackaged box. Should have requested fresh as I think it changes the experience. Warm pralines are the best. Street parking as available. It may be best to park a bit further out and walk for better options unless you get lucky.
You need to try these! (3.5 Green Stars) Arriving in New Orleans for the first time, I walked past Café Du Monde on Decatur St. and decided that it wasn't for me. Even the people (on Amtrak) who recommended it did so half-heartedly - "visit CDM once, just to get it out of the way." Anyway, I quickly learned that Loretta's is the place (one of the places) for memorable beignets. Loretta's praline-filled beignets are amazing, really. I still think about them, a month later. Yes, they're sweet, so I think at least one (ideally, two) of the three beignets in an order should be saved for later. They're excellent cold too ;) I'm also rating Loretta's Authentic Pralines 4/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, based on the following: * Black-owned business (unlike CDM). Loretta Harrison was the first African American woman to own a praline company in New Orleans. After Loretta passed in 2022, the Harrison's family (who still own the business) released a statement that Loretta was "a proud entrepreneur who advocated for local business owners, cultural and culinary arts, and civil liberties for all." * Beignets are sold on a simple piece of parchment paper in a paper bag (all compostable). * Sourcing isn't disclosed or discussed (seems common in this business/city). * Like most beignets, they are not vegan. I've now learned of a couple of places that make vegan beignets so I'll try them next time. Actually I did visit one of them later (2 Phat Vegans) but didn't notice that they make beignets - D'oh!
I loved the crab beignet. The burger, praline, regular beignets were really good. I didn't like the sweet potato cookie. I liked the outside of it but not the sweet potato center. (Idk maybe you have to like sweet potato pie to like it, i don't- but i like sweet potatoes & snickerdoodles though. Which brings me to my next point: if you like snickerdoodles & sweet potato pie, you'll looooove that cookie. It combine them. The cookie was cinnamon-sugar, chewy & soft around it with sweet potato center. Service was excellent 1st time we went even though it was packed full inside. 2nd time we went, they lost our order with not as many people, apologized & made it right. Honestly, it's not much to look at or think twice about going to until you try the food. I feel like it's a true hole in the wall. (Seriously.) Great from snacking & pacing through, not great for sitting & talking like other beignets places I've been to.
The crab stuffed beignet was absolutely amazing! It was recommended to us by a local and I could've easily eaten a dozen. The beignet was soft, fluffy and crispy on the outside and the crab meat filling was full of flavor, tender, and juicy. A must try for any trip to New Orleans!

The Traditional Beignets were exactly what you'd want--pillowy, hot, and dusted beautifully. Classic, simple, and delicious. And the Seafood Beignet? WOW. Such a unique item and definitely worth trying. It was savory, flavorful, and something you don't find everywhere. A true New Orleans experience. Even the Sweet Blend coffee paired perfectly with everything and tied the meal together. What I loved most was that although this was a to-go order, everything still tasted fresh, hot, and high quality. You can tell they put care into their food. Portions were great, flavors were balanced, and there was something for everyone. If you're in New Orleans and want authentic flavor beyond the typical tourist stop, Loretta's is definitely a must-visit. Delicious food, unique menu options, and a true local gem. Yeah, the line was long super long!! Like an hour wait long , but that's expected when you are the goat. It moved faster than it looked, and honestly, if you know, you know this spot is worth the wait. Got the stuffed beignets, and they were exactly what they should be: hot, fresh, and not sitting around getting soggy like some places during big events. The filling is rich without being overwhelming, and the texture is on point. What I appreciate most is that even with all the festival traffic, it still feels like a real neighborhood staple, not just catering to tourists. That consistency matters. If you're local, you already know. If you're visiting during FQF, don't skip this just be ready to wait a little.

Rating 9.7/10 Loretta's has been on my hit list for quite some time. I was finally on the side of town so I took a detour to the spot. Straight up, best beignets. I hate it took me so long to get em. Traditional beignets and the seafood beignets are so damn good!!!! The only thing of note: they have special hours so make sure the location is open before coming. Also it gets busy, lines and wait time may be long. The staff does a great job of moving things along so please give them grace. They're making your food fresh so it takes time.
This is my absolute favorite beignet establishment in New Orleans. I always return here and I always tell people to go here. I love their sweet tea, the cookies and obviously the beignets. Definitely worth going here even if it's out of the way.

This place gets packed but service is good. Not a long wait time at all. I think it's a former corner store but it's a laid back feel. We ordered the praline beignets and some rum pralines. Everything we had was great. The beignets were fresh out the grease and were flaky and airy. I loved them!

Listen! Nobody is doing beignets like Loretta's. I just had my first trip to New Orleans and I tried Cafe Du Monde, Ruby Slippers, Cafe Beignets, and of course Loretta's. 10/10. That's all. This was, by far, the most talked-about spot when I asked people where I had to go. It was highly recommended and definitely lived up to the hype. They also open super early, which is a huge plus if you're looking for an early breakfast or morning treat. You can choose from sweet or savory beignets, and honestly, all the ones we tried were delicious. I never would have thought that savory fillings inside a beignet would work so well, but they absolutely do! The beignets come out nice and hot, with a fluffy, flaky texture that makes them hard to resist. Fair warning: the powdered sugar gets EVERYWHERE. My best friend and I were constantly wiping down the table and cleaning our clothes. LOL. But honestly, it's part of the experience. The breakfast beignet was soooo good! The combination of cheddar cheese, egg, and sausage was delicious from the very first bite. The praline was a different flavor for me--definitely sweet, although a little too sweet for my taste. I'll choose Loretta's EVERY TIME for my beignet fix! Basically been here many days out the week because it's addictive LOL Friendly service in the back, the cashier can use a little hospitality support but nothing that turned me away. There is plenty seating if you wish to sit and enjoy your dish and I was quite comfortable. Here's everything I've had: Praline beignets- Babyyyyyyyyyy this will make you cry! It's SO divine Crab beignets- sweetest crabmeat I've had and the seasoning against the soft beignets-sensational Seafood beignets- my gooooooodness! This was one for the books-they all were-but the hearty serving of shrimp and fish on a bed of 2 beignets-SINFUL! Lastly, I had their sweet potato cookies and those are my go-to every time. Overall, I have never had a bad beignet or cookie since I first visited them in 2024 and I'm happy that it remains true to its authentic self read more

Woah you guys weren't lying when you said this is the best place for beignets in NOLA. The line was crazy long on a Saturday afternoon (as expected) but we waited anyway bc we knew it was gonna be good. There were plenty of tables and people coming and going. We got the crab beignets, regular beignets, and the seafood beignets which came with shrimp and catfish. The standout was def the crab beignets which were so savory and delicious. We wish we got more of those lol. The regular beignets were fresh, soft, and powdery and better than other places we've tried! I would skip the fried seafood one... but get the crab!! read more

Cute gem tucked away at a corner. Lots of options from cookies to pralines to beignets. They have both sweet and savory beignets options! The interior is super cute, and staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Being our first beignets in NOLA, we had to get the original powdered sugar. They are all made to order, so they come out fresh and piping hot. We got an order of 3, and just wow. They texture was crispy on the outside and soft and pillowy and almost flaky on the inside...as if wanting to tease as a croissant but still doughy. It was perfectly fried, fresh, and hot. We also got their original Praline, which is essentially pecans covered in brown sugar. My friends like it, but I found it too sweet for my taste. Overall, amazing beignets and would definitely come back! Highly recommend! read more
This place runs like a cute mom and pop shop - you'll see the owners big smile in multiple places on the wall. With the vibes of a warm welcoming family, the staff are quick to serve. I guess I'm in agreement when everyone knows the city, I mean really knows the city. Savory or sweet, these are the best beignets in the city. So much so that while we waited out the hurricane season rain, we ordered additional beignets. All together we tried the burger beignets, crab beignets, praline beignets, original pralines, and chocolate pralines. Honestly, I'd recommend every single item we tried. Sweet or savory, each beignets was prepared perfectly, and each pillow pocket was just the right size to indulge without over indulging! The setup is simple, the menu is simple, and the parking is what you'd expect, but the offerings and the trip in will be 100% worth it! Although their hours are a bit strange, if you're visiting the new JamNola location or Baldwin & Co, take the short walk to give them a try! read more

Loretta's is a beautiful New Orleans spot! We were determined to have Beignets as often as possible and they did not disappoint! We decided to see the store front instead of going to the busy French quarter and it was well worth it. Not busy at all and the humans behind the counter were helpful and sweet. We ordered the crab and seafood beignets and they did NOT disappoint. The seafood was cooked to perfection and the Beignets were flaky, not too thick and delicious. This will be my go to spot when I'm visiting ! read more

Had to try this spot after seeing it on TikTok! 5 out of 5. I went here today (a Saturday) as our first stop on our progressive dining tour. I tried the crab beignets and shared the breakfast beignets with a friend. It's so mouth-watering. The beignets are crispy, flaky, buttery, and soft. You walk in, place your orders, and pay. Then you can have a seat and your order will be brought to you. There are numerous options to choose from as well. I definitely recommend it, and the crab beignet is definitely my favorite. The crab beignet was amaaazing. Super yummy. The dough was the perfect consistency and the crab filling was delicious. I wish it was bigger or came in an order of 3 because once you have one, you're going to want another. A bit small for the price. I went on a Saturday around 1:30pm and there was a short line of about 5 people. Food came out fast. Highly recommend stopping by. read more
First, I was recommended to try this local shop from @visitneworleans while at @jamnola. Check out JAMNOLA when in the area!! At Loretta's the customer service was great as I pondered what to try, everything smelt scrumptious! When I got there there were a few folks in the sitting area and as I enjoy my bites there was a nice line, filled with both locals and tourist. I went ahead and gave both the Crab beignets and the pralines beignets a try, I enjoyed both! However, I am more of a savory person and would 100% be back for that crab beignets and try other unique beignets. Thanks for a great meal prior to running off to the airport . read more
Worth all the hype and even more! I always try a few beignets spot when I visit New Orleans and I missed Loretta's last time. They are known for their famous praline beignets. We ordered that along with their traditional beignets, crab beignet, and sweet potato cookie. The service is really good as well and everyone was friendly. The restaurant is in a residential area surrounded by a few other restaurants but a bit tucked behind the French quarter. Here are my ratings for the items: Praline beignets: 10/10 The beignets are not overly sweet and the perfect texture. The praline inside was delicious. Crab beignet: 8/10 The crab filling was tasty. I wish it was cooked a bit more but overall the flavor was good. Traditional beignets: 9/10 Can't go wrong with any traditional beignet in my opinion. Sweet potato cookie: 9:10 I love sweet potatoes and the cookie was delicious. They are very soft and gooey as well. Overall I love Loretta's!! I went twice on my most recent trip to New Orleans for Jazz fest. I will be back for sure! read more

Omg...I avoid dessert but I don't avoid Loretta's beignets. I'll stand in a very long line and wait in the rain for these crab beignets. And the praline beignets are unmatched though I don't recommend eating too many because then you'll just want more and you won't want to stop. Anywho, my most recent visit was fine. I was on a bike ride to burn calories but said "what the heck" and caved. Though they were pretty busy and many tables were eagerly awaiting their order, the service was friendly and I only waited about 10 minutes before my order was ready. read more
Lorettas by far has my favorite beignets in the city. They're flaky like a croissant and so good. Initially only thought of Lorettas for pralines but theyre so much more. Sweet and savory beignets, pies cookies etc. I initially tried their beignets at a festival but decided I didnt need to wait for a festival to satisfy my beignet craving and went to their store front. Noooooo something has happened to my favorite praline stuffed beignets!! I visited on Friday around 1pm! It's been a while since I've had them so I was eager to get them. I dined in and was disappointed when I received my order! The praline is no longer a creamy texture stuffed inside! Instead it's a dollop of a praline ball on top! The texture is different. I've been in love with the praline beignets since the days of THE Ms. Loretta! Please go back to her original recipe! Service was quick, the building is clean, and there is plenty of seating. I've only had the beignets from here and they are always hot and fresh but light in texture. Unlike some places that are really thick and dry. Melt in your mouth. The location was packed. I've been to the other location at the French Market and it was the same. Very popular place. The wait was around 15 -20 minutes or so. We were behind a lot of people.
