The location on Canal is great! Plus its air-conditioned and calmer than the chaos at Cafe Du Monde. The interior is beautifully decorated and there are plenty of tables. Venturing away from the classic beignets I decided to try the salted caramel, and for the love of all things decadent, those were sinfully delicious. The sauce is served warm and on the side to be poured over the sweet and fluffy beignets. I ordered them to go which was easy, and they were still fresh when I made it to my hotel. read more

I don't wanna waste too many words on the food and service at this place. Food: 1/10 first time having a Beignet Service: 2/10 no motivation just terrible people working at these places. I will sum this up real quick because I'm not on social media or YELP or any other platform to receive clicks and likes or to receive a check as a hand out. I am only on this to help ordinary Tax paying people that do not want to waste money at business establishments that is sticking it to us with these high prices and terrible service. My first time having a beignet, I thought I was gonna have to call the ambulance because of a spike in blood pressure. It was as if they took the whole salt shaker and poured it into whatever they use to make the beignet. I don't need to go to Loretta's or the other café Du Mon after visiting this place. I just don't think you're supposed to pour that much salt on them. And then the service. The guy who brought our food over was unmotivated as if he did not want to be there. Maybe he was having a bad day. I don't care how many bad days these people have. I just don't want it to happen on my watch, especially because we're paying. I will say that the live band was really on point. That was the best part about it listening to the band play. I did not mind tipping them really well. I have to say, Cafe Beignet makes my favorite beignets. Just sweeet enough, airy, fluffy, nice little crunch. The price was right, too. It's on a bisy Main Street with two separate seating areas. Perfect to get in out of the rain. Service was okay- not stellar, not bad. read more

Just like any other beignet place in New Orleans, the counter service is friendly and quick, and the beignets are served warm and delicious. It would be nice if they serve smaller portions, but I understand the concept. I handed off two of my pastries to a couple guys waiting in line. Coffee is also very good. It's a busy place so there's a lot of excitement. Just what you would expect from this type of Restaurant on an early morning. Everything is clean and organized with lots of items for purchase for gifts. read more

It's hard not to compare to Loretta's or Cafe Du Monde...but these fell exceptionally short in the taste department. Not our favorite version of this NOLA staple at all. Great beignets! I prefer these over Café Du Monde's because they are crispier on the outside. But wow, these are much bigger, so I left half of mine uneaten. I liked this location because it's huge and airy, plus they had lovely live music during lunch. It's conveniently located on a corner in the French Quarter, so it's hard to miss. When I visited, it was all open doors and there was no air conditioning, so bear that in mind. There was a long wait for the bathroom because there were only two stalls, so be prepared to wait. read more

This is a great location, and they have some delicious beignets! My first stop after landing in NOLA was actually here. My friend and I shared an order that came with 3 giant sized beignets. Unpopular opinion, but I actually prefer their beignets here over cafe du monde. They were so fresh, less doughy, and airy with lots of powdered sugar on top. The service was quick and they even brought it out to your table. I do wish the water cups were bigger. Nonetheless, I do miss this sweet dessert. Fresh hot beignets loaded with powdered sugar... Coffee with chicory... Live jazz... What could be better? Café Beignet on Canal Street was a great last stop for our evening at the French Quarter. The beignets were delicious and much larger than expected. The atmosphere was upbeat and relaxed and cheerful. My only complaint was that they didn't have any half-and-half or milk for the coffee. Only creamer substitute. You would think for a beignet and coffee place, they would've had some milk or Half N Half out. It was a fun place for a dessert and some music. read more

Café Beignet in New Orleans was such a vibe?! Of course I had to try the beignets and they did NOT disappoint. They were warm, fluffy, and perfectly dusted in powdered sugar. So good. But honestly, the true highlight was the atmosphere. It just felt so lively and fun, with that classic New Orleans energy that makes you want to stay a little longer and soak it all in. We also tried the crawfish grits and they were delicious definitely one of our favorites. So rich, flavorful, and comforting in the best way. The beignet battle continues! Every time we visit the area, we make a point of hitting the "2 big ones" for a beignet show down. Now, we don't limit ourselves to JUST Cafe Du Monde & Cafe Beignet. Still, they get a head-to-head comparison each time. This visit, Cafe Du Monde takes the lead by a hair. Cafe Beignet $5.58 3 large hot & fresh beignets, more dense in texture, lightly dusted with powdered sugar, 2 barely had any. Took +10min to come up. Cafe Du Monde $5 3 average sized hot & fresh beignets, lighter & fluffier in texture, roughly a cup of powdered sugar dumped over. Took about 2 minutes at the window. At either, I'd flat out skip the coffee. Just skip it. Ultimately, it came down to texture & powdered sugar ratios being slightly better at Du Monde... this time. See ya next round! read more

What a great place! This was actually my first option, but the line was long, so I left. The place down the street only took cash, so I came back here and I'm so happy I did. There was no line when I returned, and they had several different beignet options. Of course, I stuck with the original, and they were really good. I do wish the cashier had been a little friendlier and more welcoming, but to each their own, I guess. The food was good, the space felt nice after walking around, and I liked that they also have a bar if you want a drink while you're there. I would definitely come back if I'm in town again. read more

My husband and I visited a couple times. The service is quick and friendly. The food selection is ok. They were out of shrimp the afternoon we were there. The beignets were delicious. Music was good the one time we were there. The bar was busy when we walked by but when we visited it was lunch and we had coffees vs visiting the bar. read more

Located in the heart of Canal Street there are several different locations of café beignet. Most of them have live music playing throughout the day. If not, they also have the piano that plays great vibes. Excellent food simply delicious everybody tries to go to Café Dion for beignets lil do they know that café beignet it's just as great and not such a long wait. read more

As a Texas girl, these are some of my favorite beignets ever!!! Every time I go to NOLA I make sure to stop here. It's a smaller cafe, and the line is always out the door, but it's always worth it! People are always coming in and out so it's usually not hard to grab a table which I highly recommend becuase their beignets are best FRESH. I've had the classic and the chocolate and both are amazing. The perfect in between of airy and dense. And a great amount of powdered sugar sweetness. *note* I have yet to try the original Cafe Du Monde (the one in the airport was not my favorite) so this is a comparison to texas beignets. read more

Café Beignet is conveniently located right on busy Canal Street and is attached to the Sheraton, making it easy to access if you're staying nearby or heading out early. We stopped in for a quick breakfast for two before catching a flight and sadly did not get the beignets. We ordered eggs, sausage hash, toast, and coffee, which came to a little over $30 for two people. Unfortunately, the breakfast was pretty meh. The food wasn't very hot and lacked flavor--we had to add hot sauce, salt, pepper, and ketchup to make it edible. What I did enjoy was the vibe. There was live music, which was a really nice touch. There's also a bar in the middle of the café, and they have different items for sale like seasonings, hot sauces, and similar products, which was a nice extra. I see a lot of reviews praising their beignets, so in hindsight, that's probably what we should have tried instead. I'd consider coming back for the atmosphere and to try the beignets, but I'd skip the breakfast next time. read more

Came here for breakfast on Friday! I had the southern breakfast and everything was delicious! Their grits are the best I have ever had! They also make good lattes and even had SF syrups and almond milk! The servious was fast and everyone was incredibly nice and helpful. We sat outside on the sidewalk and people watched while we ate! I would highly suggest this place to anyone visiting New Orleans! read more

If you're deciding between the two locations, the corner location is the one to visit. I've been to both, and although they're only about a block apart, the difference in experience is noticeable. The main location at the end of the block is much larger, offers more menu options, and the employees there are significantly friendlier. The smaller location in the middle of the block feels more limited, and the staff came across as unapproachable and unwelcoming. The beignets are exactly what you'd expect from this Cafe --freshly fried dough covered in powdered sugar or other toppings. They come out warm and greasy, and they're nothing like a donut, so don't expect the same texture. If you've never had beignets before, they're definitely worth trying at least once. The catfish and fries were decent, nothing particularly memorable but still satisfying. One thing I found strange was their merchandise--none of it had pricing displayed, and when I asked employees, they didn't seem to know the cost. That's a confusing and frustrating business practice. I also ordered a latte at the smaller location, and it tasted like hot water--very disappointing. Overall, I highly recommend going to the main corner location. The customer service is better, the menu has more variety, and the overall experience is much more enjoyable. read more

Don't have many complaints about this spot! Cafe Beignet on Canal St is a must-try for people visiting New Orleans. It keeps its doors opens to the public as lines fill up really fast for their famous beignets, and more delicious food. I tried their Southern Breakfast and Cajun Hashbrowns, the classic beignets and the ones with Mardi Gras sprinkles. Everything was just wonderful, with decent portions that would satisfy you just enough to keep you moving throughout the day. I will say the beignets were a tad too dense, as I think other places make them far lighter when eating them. Plus the open doors, while convenient, invite the occasional birds who are searching for food. There were at least five of them roaming around; customers were getting distrated from their food to taking pictures of them. I couldn't help but take a few myself--they were just too cute! That said, it would be a real shame for someone to accidentally step or kick on one of these birds while they're enjoying their meal, so I'd suggest finding a way to prevent them from entering as much. Overall, I had a great time and I would come by again! read more

Cute cafe with tons of indoor and outdoor seating. There's also a bar in the center which wasn't very busy when I was here. The ordering experience is easy enough, but I will say the folks behind the counter aren't the most friendly. I ordered the rice and beans, an order of beignets and a drink. The rice and beans had good flavor but came out lukewarm at best. The beignets were hot and fresh and really good. They are definitely a bit more dense /doughier than *other* well known spots but the location is good and the wait wasn't bad. If crunched on time, I'd come back here again, but if I had more time, I'd probably stop by other establishments offering the same foods. read more

A Must-Try Beignet Spot in the French Quarter! Café Beignet was absolutely delicious and such a wonderful experience! There's plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, so it felt comfortable and welcoming despite the crowds. The ambience was warm and inviting, with a piano playing softly in the background--such a lovely New Orleans touch. This was one of the few spots open on Christmas Day, and yes, there was definitely a line. We waited about 40 minutes, but once seated, our order arrived in roughly 10 minutes, which felt very reasonable given how busy it was. The beignets were priced the same as Café Du Monde--$4.99 for three--but here's the kicker: out of the three beignet spots we tried, Café Beignet ranked #1 for us. The beignets were fluffier, lighter, and had the perfect powdered sugar-to-dough ratio. Not overly sweet, not too doughy--just absolutely divine. Service was friendly and efficient, and this location easily became our favorite out of the five Café Beignet spots in the French Quarter. Hands down, I believe this was one of the best beignets I've ever had! No matter which location you hit up, the place is incredible! It's so vibey and a feast for the eyes the moment you walk in. I absolutely adore the uniform hats the employees wear; they're so charming and fit perfectly with the vibe of the cafe. Service was cool! I ask a ton of questions, so the responses were a bit surface-level, but I rolled with it. The moment you bite into one of these beauties, it's pure, fluffy, soft goodness crowned with a mountain of powdered sugar an utter delight. The way they make these is top-notch craftsmanship; I honestly don't think anywhere else I tried can beat it. I tried two locations, and both were equally divine. They melt in your mouth perfectly! I wish I could describe them better! There's plenty of seating, more than enough for a casual hang. As a traveler, I was super thankful for the plug on the wall to charge my phone, and the restrooms were clean and well-kept. Just before we left, they were about to set up live music, which would have been nice to enjoy. My friend pointed out the piano was playing on its own for a moment, which was a interesting touch. Visited this location on the very busy section of Canal Street (there are many in New Orleans. This is for walk-ins as there is no parking. Clean, nicely decorated. Person at register did not seem happy to be there but hey we all have bad days. Pretty empty around noon on a Saturday. This one had a player piano playing some tunes while I waited ( a few short minutes) for my order: 3 beignets and a cafe au lait. The coffee ( chicory blend) was excellent. The beignets were big and tasty. A little "thicker than what I am used to at Cafe du "M". Had 2 and saved one for late night and it was still very good hours later. read more

Our coffee is sourced locally from roasters with over 30 years of experience roasting their own blends. Café Beignet is proud to continue the tradition of serving Chicory Coffee, first introduced by the French to New Orleans when it was still a colony of France. Chicory is a plant that is roasted through a similar process as coffee beans. Coffee and chicory are grounded separately and then combined, resulting in a most unique taste. New Orleanians have developed a love for its bolder flavor and we hope you will too. Since 1990, Café Beignet has four locations in the French Quarter with another on the way.
