Inside, you'll find every type of fudge imaginable - Cookies and Cream, New Orleans Praline, and even sugar free. They also sell gourmet apples and other delights like pralines, caramel nut clusters, chocolate covered marshmallows, old fashioned milk shakes, and Blue Bell Ice Cream. Fudge is sold by the slice & each slice is 1/2 lb. I got a slice of the Chocolate Peanut Butter. It was creamy, smooth & rich. The addition of peanut butter in the center was an added bonus. Buy 2 slices of fudge get 1 free is a SCAM! We were told if we purchased 2 slices today we would get one free. Slices are $12.99 each. That totals $25.98. She rung us up and said it was $40.00. I said it's buy 2 get 1 free, she said "the city charges 12.5% sales tax"...possibly over inflated. I thought screw it. I'm not going to argue and begrudgingly paid the $40.00 knowing I was getting screwed. She was lucky. I'm not confrontational. My siblings and I decided to get a scoop of the Mocha Almond Fudge, which is coffee ice cream with roasted almonds and a chocolate sundae sauce. There's a light hint of coffee flavor and the almond added a smoky flavor and crunchy texture to the ice cream. The chocolate sundae added some sweetness, which helps balance out the bitterness from the coffee. It is Blue Bell ice cream, and they tasted quite delicious, very creamy, milky, and silky. The man behind the fudge is a very outgoing man who calls his sweets "his children". A man who loves what he does and is proud of his work...that's just awesome. We visited here to have some ice cream, smoothies and take home fudge. We ordered a smoothie, billed as "all fruit" but it was mostly syrup actually and so sweet it upset my child's tummy. A bad value for the $7+!! I waited for several minutes while four employees did nothing to assist me with tasting and ordering ice cream. I smiled pleasantly while I waited. Another person was served but not me. I waited another few minutes by the ice creams while no one spoke a word to me. Also as I waited I noticed one employee kept wiping sweat off her face with her bare hands and never washed them. A couple came in and I'm appalled that I am having to say this--- but they served immediately with large smiles by the staff. Sweat-hands lady served them with her dirty hands. "Interestingly" all the people who got quick and pleasant service were the same ethnicity of the four employees, whereas I wasn't. Was this a coincidence? I hope so!! I was totally ignored the entire time and when I gave up on service, no one would even come over to let me pay for the smoothie my child had ordered. Finally my husband asked for some help paying and we were assisted. I went across the street to Kilwins and was immediately greeted and served. Having the sweet tooth that I do, I knew I would be checking out the fudge here soon after my meal. It smelled divine the second I walked in, and they had two cases of a wide variety of flavors. I tried several samples - extraordinary chocolate, strawberry cheesecake (seasonal/specialty flavor), peanut butter chocolate and they were all delicious, definitely better than most other places I've had fudge...However, 10.99 for 1/2 lb is just too expensive. I bought a chocolate caramel nut block and it came to $15 because it was actually 0.66 lb. Worth it as a one time purchase and because I was just visiting NOLA for Mardi Gras but I'd go broke fast purchasing this fudge on a regular basis! read more
