    Crab beignets

Came to this spot from seeing reviews on TikTok. The line was very long but with the wait. I got the crab stuff beignets and the regular beignets. They were made fresh and soooo good! I see the hype .

If you're looking for something different, this is definitely the place to go! The praline beignet was delicious, although it was a little sweeter than my personal preference. If you have a sweet tooth, you'll absolutely love it. My favorite, though, was the crab and Brie beignet--it was incredible. The savory flavors were rich, perfectly balanced, and unlike anything I've had before. When most people think of beignets, they picture the classic version covered in powdered sugar. This place takes them to a whole new level with unique sweet and savory flavors that all work surprisingly well. Every bite had a perfectly crispy, golden exterior with a soft, fluffy center that practically melted in your mouth. Be prepared to get a little messy, but it's completely worth it! The contrast between the crunchy outside and the warm, pillowy inside makes every bite satisfying. Whether you prefer sweet or savory, there's something for everyone, and the creative flavors keep you wanting to come back to try more. The inside of the restaurant isn't fancy, but it's clean, comfortable, and has plenty of seating. It's a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal with friends or family. Overall, this is a fun place with delicious food that's a nice twist on a classic treat. I would definitely come back to explore more of the menu!

I was in search for some crawfish beignets and I heard that Loretta's offered them, so I knew I had to stop by! The crawfish beignet is on the smaller end, but they didn't hold back on the amount of crawfish inside (which I'm happy about because it was PRICEY). Flavor wise, the crawfish itself was good but was a bit salty for my taste. The beignet part was great though! The store is more of a stand, but there are a few tables to sit and enjoy your food. Service was friendly. There was a line when I went, but it moved quickly.

Very long lines spiraling around on a Saturday right before closing! There was difficulty finding the end of the line as the line snaked around in various directions and then spiraled double backed near the beginning of the line. This is in the French Market: Shops of the Colonnade area which is a partially covered still-outdoors market which is extremely hot and humid. Yet, people understand how good these beignets are that we all willing wait in a long queue. It was 45 minute line when we went, and there was a worker that had to line up to close off the line shortly after because otherwise, it will be past closing time by the time people order. Apparently this is already a slow weekend as the worker mentioned the weekend before, Memorial Day Weekend, the line wrapped around the block with 3+ hour queues. We got one of the last crab beignets and one order of praline beignets (3 pieces). A bit pricy for $20+ total, but the quality is high up there. The beignets is not extremely sweet but they are very flavorful. I love the crab a lot as a savory beignet, but definitely a splurge as it was over $10 for just one.

Best beignets I've tried. The praline beignets leave envy in their wake. The chocolate ones were also pretty good

Please do yourself a favor and visit Loretta's if you want the best beignets!! We visited Cafe Du Monde and Cafe Beignet, but they just did not compare to Loretta's. On the pricier side, but the cost justifies the quality in my opinion. If you go at any point besides right when they open, be prepared for anywhere from a 30 min to 60 min+ wait. Seating is very limited since it's within the market area. I recommend the standard pralines if you're in the market. Chocolate was just too sweet.

If you're in New Orleans, make your way to Loretta's Authentic Pralines, located daily in the French Market--especially if you're on the hunt for authentic beignets. I recently went on a tour that pointed out how some of the more commercialized spots, like Café du Monde, have shifted over time, with large-scale production methods that can change the texture and flavor. Beignets aren't supposed to taste like funnel cake, and that really stuck with me--so finding something more authentic became a must. I completely understand the hype and the long lines at Loretta's. I've seen so many people recommend it, and after trying it myself, it absolutely lives up to it. The crab beignets were the standout--crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and packed with savory crab flavor. It's such a unique twist on a classic beignet, and honestly, I preferred them over the traditional sweet version. There is a sitting area that is covered to sit and enjoy a bite. If its raining you are safe from the elements. Or even the sun. Everything tasted fresh, authentic, and full of flavor. If you're serious about finding real New Orleans beignets, this spot is a must.

Praline beignets are the best in town. 15-20 min wait on Easter weekend, not too bad. Fiancee is not a sweets guy, but thoroughly enjoyed the savory crab beignet. A must visit for beignet fans!

Understood the hype, the pralines beignets were delicious! Very sweet so I probably wouldn't have more than 1-2 of them . They are on the smaller size compared to places like Cafe Beignet or Cafe Du Monde but the flavor is concentrated and still feasibly priced. I can't wait to come back and try the crab ones.

Don't make the mistake we did and come to Loretta's on a Tuesday cuz they're closed. So we came back the following day and got an order of praline filled beignets and a crab filled beignet. Their beignets are much smaller, more airy and less dense than other beignet places. Although I enjoyed these the most, they are a bit pricey. An order of Praline filled Beignets (comes with 3): $8.27+tax and a single Crab Beignet: $9.82+tax. There's plenty of places to sit and since it's located in the French Market you can peruse the vendors while waiting for your hot beignets.

No prices. 1 crab is $9.82! Traditional is $8.27 and they are tiny compared to other places which are all much cheaper and honestly taste better. Praline was same price as traditional. Cookies $3, teas $4. Line had 4 ppl in front of me and took about 10 min to order. Took 37 minutes to get my order. By the time my order came out my traditional beignets were cold :( Guy taking orders was very nice. Praline beignets were the best tasting in my opinion. Tea was tasty too. They take a bunch of orders and then go in back and work for awhile and get caught up and then repeat. Long lines. Had passed by at 9 and they said they would start taking orders around 9:15. Last year it was around 9:30 before they opened up. So don't waste your time coming early or on time.

Came specifically for the crab stuffed beignets and the praline stuffed ones. $9.50 for 1 crab filled and $8 for an order of 3 praline filled ones. The crab ones are VERY SALTY. They're good, but definitely over hyped. The praline ones were very sweet. Is it worth the money? I don't think so, but glad we tried.

I grew up in New Orleans, and somehow... I had never been to Loretta's. Now, coming back as someone who doesn't live here anymore, I got to experience my own city like a tourist, and honestly, that changed how I saw everything. This is just one review of many places I visited. Check out my guide. This spot happened to be on my way out of the city, so I didn't get a chance to capture any photos of the food itself.... The line was long, the sun was beaming, and I waited a solid 40 minutes just to place my order. That alone plays a role in my rating. If memory serves me right, I tried a chocolate praline, a praline beignet, a crawfish beignet, and a praline chocolate chip cookie. That praline chocolate chip cookie should probably come off that menu. It was too hard and dry to enjoy. The beignets? They were okay... nothing that really stood out to me. Not something I'd come all the way to New Orleans for, but I understand the weight of what Loretta's represents. Personally my moms pralines are better! If gumbo is the state food, then pralines and beignets are easily the state desserts. And Loretta's has clearly earned its place in that conversation. What did stand out to me was the service. The cashier was friendly, attentive, and handled the long line like a pro, you would've thought he owned the place. Gotta love that Southern hospitality. Long story short: For me, the wait didn't match the payoff. 3/5
